Photoshop Elements 9 'Rollback Issue'?

Everytime I try to install Photostop Elements 9, it finishes installing, and just when it starts registering the product, it fails and has to rollback, and the program is uninstalled. Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.
Can anyone help or suggest something I do?

OMG...I have been dealing with this issue ALL day and it is now 11:51 pm!!!  I had purchased a new, sealed, PSE 9 on dvd, tried to install it...almost got to the end and it started rolling back.  got the same screen about the Installshield.  Spent hours researching a fix on the internet...nothing worked.  Finally found and let an Adobe tech take control of my computer.  He tried a couple of different things but the rollback continued.  Then he tried to make another administrator account (I'm on XP media edition) and he hit restart...and was gone.  Then I had to spend a couple hours trying to get my settings and configurations back to the way they were (for some reason the computer reverted to the programs and setting it originally came with and system restore wouldn't work)
Finally got things back to how they were, went on to Adobe and purchased a download copy of PSE 9 from their store.  More money again but I thought if it works I really don't care.  All excited and spent the time downloading the program, went to install it, and same darn rolling back problem.  Tried a couple more times in disbelief...no change.
Then did research into more Installshield problems and possible fixes and then updates, patches, drivers and finally researched reinstall.  Found it finally on c-net, downloaded and reinstalled Installshield (it copied, replaced, fixed, cleaned etc as I watched).  Excitedly I tried to install the downloaded copy of PSE 9...but the rolling back continues!!!!!!!!
I have NEVER had this problem with installing software before (downloaded or hard copies).  Please please please someone figure this out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Linda

  • Problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 - Rollback action issue.

Im having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.
The problem is right at the end of installation, it says status is registering and then immediately does an action rollback.
The message "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."
I have also created a new administrator account and after rebooting tried to install it but with the same result. It appears to get to the end of the program install but falls over just before the Organiser install. There are no error messages. AV and surplus programs have been stopped. Desktop clean up run.  XP machine well within required spec.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Photoshop Elements 6 Slideshow Issues

    Photoshop Elements 6 Core Version: 6.0 (20070910.r.377499)
    Issues:
    Ordering Slide Shows
They will not order in File Name order -- Must I do it manually? -- which is silly for a computer
    Slide Show Photo Background
File name picked up as title/description  which is perfect --
But cannot get a bigger background then picture
This means the title covers picture and / or does not show up well.
Ideally I would like a larger canvas on the bottom of the picture so the text can show up against black or some other color without covering the photo.
This should be easy with canvas size but I cannot get it to work in a slide show.
Should also be able to change text color
Do not mind buying an upgrade but want to make sure these issues can be solved
See these issues in boards but cannot find solutions.
    Thanks

the problem seems to be with the mp3,could please specify the size of the audio file which you were using  and please try an audio file with a smaller size.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor Issue

Have downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor from the Mac App Store onto my Mac Book Pro, set iPhoto preferences to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor, but when trying to open a file from my iPhoto library, the following message appears: "unable to complete your request because of a program error". What can I do to resolve this issue?

Are you able to edit an image file that's not in the iPhoto library with PSE 10?
Also the followinjg has some tips on configuring PSE for use inside iPhoto that you may or may not know about:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9/10 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 rollback after install

I have a paid full version of Photoshop Elements/Premier Elements 10 on DVD. My computer runs Windows XP SP3 with current updates. After almost fully completing the installation, the installer will give an error message and roll back the installation. The error message is "The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technologies". The logfile mentions:
ERROR: DW050:  - Photoshop Camera Raw for Elements 10: Install failed
I have read most of the forum posts which mention rollback (also for PSE9) and I have tried most of the recommendations, but nothing seems to help, so I would appreciate some advice.
The installation log file is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14071986/PSE10%20STI%20Installer%2010.0%2001-04-2012.log.gz

I did some further testing and was finally successfull! The problem was apparently with Adobe AIR.
Until now I was focused on the 64-bit Camera Raw error messages, but then I read in older posts that these messages are not necessarily fatal. Then I noted that the Adobe Help installation also gave error messages in the logfile, which specifically mentioned the rollback action:
The csu inventory was not updated for payload {E3794450-8781-11E0-B632-B1904824019B} AdobeHelp 3.5.0.0, value of local var is -1
Calling the ROLLBACK custom action code for pre-install for payload {E3794450-8781-11E0-B632-B1904824019B} AdobeHelp 3.5.0.0
I already noted some time before this installation of PSE10/PRE10 that the help Adobe Community Help in my existing installation of PSE9/PRE9 gave error messages after trying to update itself. In addition Adobe AIR which runs Adobe Community Help did not successfully update itself as well. So I decided to tackle this problem first. I was also not able to uninstall Adobe AIR and Adobe Community Help so I used the online Microsoft Fixit to do this and that worked beautifully for both!
    http://http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/en-us
I then re-installed the latest version of Adobe AIR and then the Adobe Community Help function. Now the Help worked and it also updated itself again. At this point I ran the PSE10 installer again and now it ran to completion. Note that the error messages about 64-bit code are still there in the logfile, but they apparently were not fatal.
Finally, I would like to thank all who responded to my initial posting. Although I did find the solution myself, your suggestions helped me to think clearly and kept me motivated to see this debug session through.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 installation issues

I had Elements 9 and just purchased elements 10. I tried to install it and have had not luck. I have called the help desk several times with no luck. I also have Lightroom and use to be able to right click on a picture and edit it in Photoshop elements 9, now it says it will be edited in elements 10, but it does not do anything. I can't figure out how to get it back the way it was. I have tried to uplaod the trial version, the software from the CD I bought, but nothing seems to work. anyone have any suggestions for this?

For such a complex issue it might be best to continue to work with our support team as they can work with you on an individual basis to resolve your difficulties.  If you would like we do have a support document, "Troubleshoot installation problems | Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements | Windows" with steps you can certainly use.
Alternately you can also review your install log files to try to determine the exact error which is causing your difficulties.  "Troubleshoot install using logs | Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements," details how to review the logs which are created when your computer installs Photoshop Elements 10.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 download issue

Files on the download site for Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 are not complete. The installation errors out. Should be 1.6GB but only 1.13 GB downloads. I have tried it several times

Thank you very much, Pat, for your great help.   The link has inspired me to download the trial version from the Adobe website and go from there:
"Adobe Download Assistant" was automatically downloaded before the download of the trial version began.  With the "Adobe Download Assistant" up and running, the download of the trial version took within 30 minutes.  I then got to enter the serial code of my already purchased PSE 12 right after installation of the trial version and completed the whole set-up process (without even opening or using the trial version at all).
It is rather counter-intuitive that one should start with a trial download even when he has gone straight into buying the product.  It was as if the trial version was a bridge to facilitate the official download because the trial version provided the "Adobe Download Assistant".  Maybe, it is expected that people would always take a trial before buying?  Or maybe, it is expected that most people would already have the "Adobe Download Assistant" handy?
Anyway, I am glad there is a solution.  In this case, I think the key is to get the "Adobe Download Assistant" which comes with the trial version.  Hope this post will help others who might face the same issue too.
    Many thanks again.

  • Photoshop Album to Photoshop elements File size issue

I have used album v2 for a few years, and only import proxy files from off-line media (CD/DVD) to keep the backup file small which makes it easier to keep 2 computers on the same page..(15000 image files = 6GB) I make a backup to a portable drive monthly, and restore to 2nd pc.. etc
I have converted the catalogue into elements 9 succesfully, and it correctly points to the relevent discs if I need the full res files.
My question is.. Can I do this sort of import in Photoshop Elements 9? In album there was a check box for keeping the files off-line during import and to name the disc for reference , but I cant see this in elements... Perhaps I am missing something obvious..
Looking through the dialoge boxes, I wonder if you import the full res file, then move/copy to disc leaving behind the proxy...
I am on the trial, and dont want to buy if its not what I want..
Apologies if this topic is listed elsewhere.. I have looked, but cant find one..
    Thanks for any pointers,

I'm not sure but it sounds a lot like the question I posed to the forum a little later today.  It may be that the newer versions of PSE are not compatible with transfering all the Categories, Sub Categories and Tags from versions up to PSE 10.  I am presently using PSE 10 because I couldn't figure out how to save all the organization I have put into Elements over the past 10 years or so.
I'm hoping for an answer to my question.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 activation issue on MAC running Parallels Desktop for Windows 7

I have a MacBook Pro laptop running both OSX and Windows 7 (using Parallels Desktop). I installed the MAC version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 when I booted in the MAC OSX mode. I also Installed Adobe Photoshop 10 in the Windows 7 mode (running as a virtual machine using Parallels Desktop). Both programs indicate that they are activated. If I boot the computer in the Windows 7 mode (not using Parallels Desktop) and start the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 program it indicates that it is NOT activated and that I "already have two copies activated".
Question: Since I only actually have two copies activated how do I get the program activated for the Windows 7 boot operating mode?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 downloading issue

I have adobe photoshop elements 9 and I am trying to reload on my computer.  The disc will not run.  I have the case with the serial # , can I get it downloaded from the web?
    Thanks
    Linda

if you follow all 7 steps, you can dl a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-9-premiere-elements-9-direct-download-links.h tml
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a dl problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  typically, a failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 help issue

I've just installed PHotoshop Elements from Apple App Store.
Every time I start the program and click <Help - Photoshop Elements Help> I get this message:
"Mac OS X needs to repair your Library to run applications."
I type my password and click <Repair>, then the help web page opens in my browser.
But I have to repeat that every time I use help after starting the program.
I've run the repair function on Disk Utility, but it didn't solve the problem.
    How can I fix that?

It's not easy to say why this is happening as the app store version is a stand alone package which is quite different to the regular retail version.
If I were you I would simply bookmark the help page in your web browser:

  • Photoshop Elements 12 install issue [edited by host]

I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 on April 14 2014.  I installed it on a PC that Crashed due to a defective Power Supply and Case.  I have finally rebuilt the PC and have my Serial Number. How do I get it back on my machine? It is the same motherboard, BIOS, CPU and RAM with Win7 Pro 64 bit SP1 back up and running well. All of the other programs that I purchased at the same time were very easy to re-install.  WHY IS ADOBE NOT?

I downloaded a 'trial' edition of Elements 12. When it installed it asked if it was a trial or if I had an activation code.  I entered what I have and it completed installing.  Running it the first time tells me I have 7 days to complete (can't remember other than login info.)  Hope this works!

  • Photoshop Elements 10 Installation issue

    Good day,
I try to install Photoshop Elements 10 on my computer (Windows 7) but when during the loading I got an error message " HRESULT : 0x80070002".
I do not know what to do.
    Could you please help me?
    Thank you.
    J.

    Two steps to try:
Restart your computer and try installing again.
If that still doesn't work, run the System File Check utility with the /scannow option:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
The utility will take a while, so be patient.  Even if SFC reports there were no files to repair, it really did repair files, so restart your computer.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 Default Issue

I have installed PE 12, but I'm unable to open my photos using Photoshop Elements 12 as default. (I must first open PE 12, choose Open: then navigate to the photo.)
I have several other versions of PE installed, including PE 11. Right now when I double-click on a photo, it opens in PE 11. When I choose Open with: the dialog box lists only PE 11. When I go to Choose default program: PE 12 is not shown. When I go to Browse: then navigate to the .exe file for PE 12, my computer just adds another PE 11 to the list.
How do I correct this, so that when I double-click on a photo, it automatically open in PE 12?
    Thanks,
