I do not want your online storage. I have my own backup solutions, and the last thing i need is another subscription fee to forget about. Every time I load Photoshop Elements, I am first confronted with a window telling me to buy more storage. I will NEVER buy your storage. This sales pitch is highly annoying and unprofessional.
My question is, how do I disable online storage? Somehow during the install process, Photoshop Elements chose to backup my pictures. It quickly hit the 2gb cap (google offers free 5gb, as does dropbox, and ubuntu ONE, and others I am sure).  Now every time I start, I get a warning that my storage is full, and the only solution offered is for me to buy more storage.
I cannot for the life of me find out how to disable the online storage. I go into the preferences, and find the "Elements Backup/Synchronization Services", wherein I see a single option.  The box for "Backup/Sync" has been unchecked. I see no other way of adjusting the state of backup.
What I expected was for Elements to create a folder in My Pictures, which would contain files i want to backup. This is how Google Drive, Dropbox, and others work.  Something tells me that Adobe, in its infinite wisdom, has obfuscated this data.
One solution I have come up with is to delete Elements, delete my adobe account, and then reinstall without entering my details.

I figured it out. The answer is to ignore all the links Photoshop Elements offers. None of them lead to the right page. Go to photoshop.com and re-enter your credentials there. Within this page, you can "organize my library". Contrary to what it says, this only affects your online library. In an effort to milk the Instagram trend, photoshop has created a confusing roundabout way of sharing photos. Apparently the miriad ways of sharing photos which have been tried and tested over the past decade are, in Adobes eyes, insufficient. Clearly, the world needs yet another medium by which to share photos. Apparently Adobe realized millions of people were viewing pictures without recieving their sales pitch.
Anyhow, once I found my online library, I was able to delete it with relative ease. I considered downloading copies of these pictures just in case the originals had been corrupted or lost. Fortunately Adobe made that simple by denying me access. If I want to download the pictures which legally belong to me, I have to pay adobe for some kind of premium account.
It is no wonder adobe products have been among the top pirated software over the past decade.

  • FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

    What is a raw file?
A raw file is the unprocessed light data that was captured by your camera sensor. The only settings on your camera that apply to this file are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This means that any settings you may have applied to the file, such as white balance, or black and white effects, have no effect. Because this sensor data is raw, it must be processed or baked into an actual image file, that's where the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in comes in.
    What is Adobe Camera Raw?
ACR interprets the raw data and makes image information out of it. But every camera has a unique sensor and thus has a unique form of raw file. Even though camera manufactures may use the same file extension each time (e.g. Nikon raw files are always .NEF), each camera model has a different way of storing information. Because of this, we must continually update ACR for new cameras. As we add new cameras to the list (over 300 now) we update our published list of supported cameras. Additionally, with the changes to ACR, newer releases will not always be compatible with older versions of Photoshop Elements.
So, will the my raw files work with Photoshop Elements?
So if you are wondering if your camera is supported by ACR or will work in Photoshop Elements, first check this list:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Once you know whether your camera is supported by ACR and by which version, check this list to see whether your version of Photoshop Elements supports that version of ACR or later:
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If your version of Photoshop Elements should open raw files from your camera, make sure you have the latest version of ACR installed. Go to Help > Updates to install the latest ACR release.
You can also manually download and install ACR updates:
    Macintosh
    Windows
What if my camera is not compatible with my version of Photoshop Elements?
Supposing you have a camera that came out after the release of a newer version of Photoshop Elements, so that your version of Elements is no longer recieving updates, you have two basic options:
Purchase the latest version of Photoshop Elements that supports your camera.
Use the latest version of the free DNG Converter (for Macintosh or Windows)
You can convert your files to the universaly compatible DNG format (the files will work with any version of the Camera Raw plug-in). See In depth : Digital Negative (DNG) for more information.
Where are all of the tools and options that I've seen available in tutorial books and videos?
Photoshop Elements has fewer tools and options than it's parent Photoshop. These differences are documented here:

  • Do you have to purchase Photoshop Elements in addition to Photoshop Lightroom?

I currently have Photoshop Lightroom 5.  I am attempting to use the stamp option in the sketch filter.  I can't find it in Lightroom.  Upon investigating, I believe that you must use an external editor such as Photoshop Elements.  Is this correct?  Do you need to purchase this as well?

These are separate programs which can be purchased individually or in combination, your choice. Many people use Lightroom for organizing and editing, and then they also use Photoshop Elements for additional editing power which goes beyond the feature set of Lightroom. Since Lightroom does not have a stamp option in the sketch filter (it doesn't even have a sketch filter), this would be a case where if you needed to do that you would have to use Photoshop Elements or the full Photoshop.

Hi, i previously used an older photoshop elements program on windows and when i needed to add more backgrounds/graphics that i had purchased i use to go to 'photo creations' folder and then select either 'background' or 'graphic' folder and paste my new background files into there.  I then closed photoshop and restarted, when i did that it would then the added files would thent show in the 'contents' tab under backgrounds or graphics.  When using this program i tried to do same but it is not showing in programs content.  Am i saving it in wrong place?  Please help or any suggestions.  Thank you

    Hi Lisa,
    Go to the following location:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
There you will find a file named as MediaDatabase.db3
Cut that file from there, and paste it somewhere else. (Just to keep as a backup)
Now when that file is not there, relaunch Editor. It will show a dialog box saying "Building Contents". Let the Editor do it's processing. Depending on your machine speed, it will again create the Mediadatabase.db3 file. (On my machine it took around 10 mins)
Then you should be able to see the added backgrounds and frames.

I have just installed Photoshop Elements for a MAC. MY photos were in iPhoto, I have 47,000 pictures and my drive on my Mac laptop is not large enough. I store my photos in iPhoto on an external drive. Can I store all my photos on an external drive when using Photoshop Elements? If so, in what format should they be stored in? I do I move them from iPhoto to the new storage location? How do I call them up in organizer? And how do I call them up to Edit? I do not want to store any pictures on my Apple Mac laptop. I want to store pictures on several external devices.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

  • Importing tags from Photoshop Album to Photoshop Elements 5

I have had Photoshop Album 2.0.2 for several years and it currently holds the information of 13000+ tagged items. I have a detailed tagging system set up which I don't want to lose.  I also have Photoshop Elements 5 and having just discovered that Photoshop Album is now discontinued I wanted to transfer my existing information into Elements.
I have spent some time trying varies options but cannot find the solution I want.
If I select a photo from file to import into Elements then the tagging information does not come with it.
If I export an image from Album to desktop and then import it into Elements no tags come with it.
If I email a photo from Album to myself then import that image it does come with the tags into Elements.
Obviously I can't email all 13000 images to myself to import them but can someone suggest how I can transfer this data - obviously the photos themselves don't need to move as both programmes only keep a link to the original location to the photos.
I'm not interested in using the online storage system but wonder if one solution might be to upload all my phots to that temporarily then reimport them to Elements.
Additionally is it possible to import my current tag structure  rather than have imported tags all appearing under a 'imported tags' tag.
    Any help grately appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gill

Thank you so much it worked - the only thing that didn't transfer was the folder pics I'd chosen for the tags so that didn't take long to redo - many thanks - I'd never have found that. It would have been so much more obvious if it showed 'open' or 'select catalogue' rather than just the word 'catalogue' with no other options visible from the dropdown menu.
    Happy Bunny here!

  • Will Premiere Elements 12 work with Photoshop Elements 11?

I have looked for PRE 11 online, incl. Amazon, but it's "not available" or
    "discontinued."
For informational (non promotional reasons) I would call your attention to the following which is currently displayed at Amazon.
Amazon say In Stock (Is that a misprint that becomes evident when you tried to place the order)?
    http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Premiere-Elements-OLD-VERSION/dp/B0093FROFM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8 &qid=1389139027&sr=8-2&keywords=Premiere+Elements+11
How do you want to integrate the program relates to getting the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor slideshow into a Premiere Elements project in the .psess, non wmv, route using the Slideshow Editor's Output option "Edit With Premiere Elements Editor". When you go this route, the Premiere Elements option "Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow"  command is available and enables you to do significant additional edits to the slideshow. This type of integration is typically available with integrated sets, such as 12/12, 11/11, etc.
If you are using the Elements Organizer as a storage place for organized videos, you could import them into any version of Premiere Elements version (provided the formats are supported by the version) from their computer hard drive save location.
Both Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 12 are standalone program programs that come with an Elements Organizer, one with Elements Organizer 11 and the other with Elements Organizer 12. If you have an dedicated bunch of organized videos in Elements Organizer 11, you can convert that catalog in Elements Organizer 12 that comes with Premiere Elements 12.
    With all those words...
Photoshop Elements 11/Premiere Elements 11, same catalog database....if you can find a copy of Premiere Elements 11
Photoshop Elements 11/Premiere Elements 12, and look into converting the Elements Organizer 11 catelog with the videos once you open Elements Organizer 12 in your purchased Premiere Elements 12.
Check out what is less expensive...
    a. Buy the bundled Photoshop Elements 12/Premiere Elements 12
    b. Buy Premiere Elements 12
    c. Buy Premiere Elements 11
Please review. If you need clarification on anything written, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • How do I  install Photoshop Elements 10 to a secondary drive?

How do I  install Photoshop Elements 10 to a secondary drive? I have a solid state drive as the primary drive and a secondary drive that has much more storage where I would like to install PSE, but there is no option to pick the drive when you install.

Which operating system are you using?  There is typically an option to select the installation location.  Keep in mind though that there are many support files which will permanently need to be installed on your Operating System drive.  In addition temporary files will also need to be installed during the install process.
If your SSD is so low on space you may want to consider getting a larger drive which can accomodate the operating system and applications installed on the same drive.  You are also loosing many of the performance gains of the SSD by having your applications still installed on a standard hard drive.

I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro with MAC OSX 10.6.8, iPhoto ’09 version 8.1.2 and have downloaded two software programs: one is Aperture 3.2 and the other is Photoshop Elements 9 (which I got from a friend who didn’t need it).
I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.
    “Welcome to Aperture 3.2
Your library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of Aperture. Once upgraded, you will not be able to use this library with previous versions of Aperture.
Upgrading a library from previous versions of Aperture 3 generally takes a few minutes or less, though larger libraries will take longer. After that, Aperture 3.2 will upgrade your library's thumbnails, but you can use the application during that time.
Tip: To open a different library, quit Aperture and hold the Option key down while starting Aperture
    Current Library Location:
    Jadzia (home)   -----Pictures------Aperture Library
                                                      QUIT             UPGRADE”
I have heard horror stories  about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
So here is my dilemma.  I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?

Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop.  Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file.  For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Adobe Bridge CS 5 and Photoshop Elements 8 compatibility?

I have Photoshop Elements 8 installed with Camera Raw 5.5 on a Windows 7 platform.  I recently purchased Photoshop CS 5 which came with Camera Raw 6.2.  Both products work well independently.  Where I'm encountering an issue is when I use Adobe Bridge to access an image file for processing in Camera Raw 6.2, the changes made to the file show up in Adobe Bridge, but are not observable in the Photoshop Elements Organizer.  When I look at the file properties I can see that Camera Raw 6.2 updated the file and the updated date does appear in the PS Elements Organizer.  Also the items listed in the Camera Raw metadata are different in the two products (PS vs PSE).  I'm wondering if Camera Raw 6.2 is writing data in a structure that is not supported by Camera Raw 5.5?  Will updating PSE to the Camera Raw 6.2 version solve this mystery or is likely to introduce a more serious problem?
I happen to like some of the features of the PSE Organizer that are not available in Adobe Bridge so I'd like to have them work well together.

Here's some additional information obtained after further investigation.
I edited a .NEF file from Adobe Bridge using Camera Raw 6.2, then saved the file.  I checked with Windows Explorer to see that the file modification date and time reflected the current time -- they did.  Then I viewed the file in PSE 8 Organizer.  The file did not reflect the changes so I updated the thumbnail.  That made it clear that changes had been made, however, but there was a noticable difference between the renderings of the image in the two applications.  Colors appeared more saturated in the PSE displayed version.
I've also tried to update the PSE 8 Camera Raw plug-in from the distributed version 5.5 to the current version 6.2 but was not successful.  The online instructions don't seem to address all the fine points of making that work on a Windows 7 64-bit system.
Another less serious issue is that tags and captions don't seem to be totally mobile between the two applications.
