Photoshop elements corrupt software

Hello: the edit feature in my PSE 5.0 locks my computer when I try to edit a photo. A dialogue box says that the app failed to start because PLUGIN>dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem. When I go the re-install my software disk using the repair option, a dialogue box tells me to install disk 1. The only disk I have is in the computer. I can't go any further. How do I fix my editing problem?
John...[email protected]

You have to uninstall and reinstall (you won't lose your catalog). Be
sure to disable anti-virus software during the process.
Repairs have never worked with PSE.

  • Question: Why will my Photoshop Elements 10 Software not reload on my computer?

I have been using Photoshop Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 for some time now on my computer.  Less than a month ago, i had a bad virus on my computer and had to take it to a Computer Tech shop to be repaired.  They had to totally clean off the computer to eliminate the virus, it took two tries to get it clean.
I now can not get my software to reload.  I put the disc in and the 'install' screen does not come up.  How can i get it to reload?  Any help?  I do have the original box with the Serial Numbers ....but the screen to load and note them is not even coming up.
    Please Advise?

I'm not real computer literate. Might you know where'd I would find it?  There are 5 disks in the softwear, the first 3 are install files dependent on what Windows program is loaded. The last two say Content.   Thanks for your help!

  • Uninterrupted useage of my legally purchased and registered Adobe Photoshop elements 10 software.

    Good afternoon,
This IS not the first complaint of this nature (as it has happened to me once before, with an older version of the Adobe Photoshop software).
I have been the legal and registered owner of this software (Adobe Photoshop Elements 10) for over 2 years.  In the past few weeks, each time I try to use my software, I am prompted in every instance to use my software, that an unusual request to treminate this operation has been recorded and that Adobe Photoshop 10 has become unresponsive .... with NO explanation offered.  Naturally Windows has no interest in restricting my usage of a software which I paid for and duly registered when I installed it.
I have been an Adobe Photoshop Elements registered supporter/user for years (starting with Version 7).  Since NO legitimate reason is known for this unexplained harrasment, I am left with no other alternative but to register a complaint.  In the previous instance when this identical intrusion happened, after I investigated the reason behind such obstruction of service to a software which I was a legitimate and registered owner of, I was advised that I had more than one copy installed.
When does Adobe intend to join the rest of us in the 21st. centry and realize that most likely the majority of their customers run more than one hard drive in their PC cases, and that as a back-up precaution, the same software might be installed on the back up hard drive as well, (and still in the only PC case the owner has)?
I would respectfully request that this harrasment be discontinued IF us, "your customers", are expected to continue supporting the future Photoshop Elements releases.  It is NOT our fault, that Adobe seems to be legally behind the times?
The courtesy of a response and correction of this ongoing unjustified interruption of services would be the minimum reaction that would serve as a sign of good faith and proper cutomer rights recognition?

    Hello Thomas,

is not mine, but I have been here in Canada 59 years, so I had some time to
    get better at it.*
*Thank You for your suggestion.  In frustration with this endlessly
stubborn process, I completely removed the software and re installed it all
over again, it seems to be working as it used to be before my problems
started some weeks ago.  Here it is now 5:42 PM in the early evening. it
becomes dark after 6:30 PM in our area, but here it is a comfortable +13 C,

I am trying to install Photo Elements 6 on my Apple Macbook without any success, much the same as the other 2 people who have already posed questions on the Forum (Elysa Kohrs & Andy Merz). I have already tried all the suggestions and also have had no luck. Can you please tell me if there was any conclusion to this problem.

Sorry for the length of this. But I did get it to work and I did a bunch of things to get there - some may have been unnecessary. You could always try just the last few (*) steps without all the rest.
Two days ago I installed Photo Elements 6 on XP pro sp3 as an Administrator, with NOD32 off as well as other task tray programs. The installation reported success and said to reboot. I expected the program to resume after reboot so that I could enter the SN. It did not and double clicking the icon produced nothing. No errors in event viewer and task manager reported it running. I was pretty sure the install disk was bad because of a preinstall diagnostic txt file in the Adobe pse6 folder which had: "Error: Unexpected exception while populating FD for: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe Error: Unexpected C++ exception caught at the top level of the program."
Here is what I did next - it is now running
] turned off any (pse6) running services in task manager
] turned off any running services in admin tools/services and changed them to Manual Start
    ] uninstalled using control panel/add-remove.
] went into the registry and backed-up/ deleted all reference to pse6
however I did forget to delete those in hidden folders.
    ]reboot
    ] defrag
] reboot into safe mode & run virus scan (ok)
] *Download the LicenseRecovery109.zip (Windows) or LicenseRecovery109.dmg file (Macintosh). at http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html
] copied the adobe folder from the installation disk to an options folder on the hard drive.
] *turned off antivirus, ati, scanner, etc. (NOT simple or safe mode btw)
] *installed the program from the options/adobe/setup.exe
] this time it didn't even ask to reboot, but *reboot anyway.
    ] same result
] *turn off running processes in task manager
] *ran the extracted LicenseRecovery109 exe, little window pops up - then more nothing
    ] *reboot
] double click the pse6 icon
    ] presto!
Having said all that if I were to do it again I would at least try the last few steps (*) FIRST before double clicking or any of the others. Tho not sure how to uninstall LicenseRecovery109.
Just thought I'd let you know, hope it helps

  • Problems downloading Photoshop Elements 9 software to my new computer using Windows 8

Can someone please assist me in getting my software to work on my new computer.
I have installed the disc...... almost at the end of installation the computer froze and eventually after a couple of hours, I removed the disc and interupted the installation.  I switched the computer off and restarted. I then tried to uninstall.... but then was prompted to put the disc back in to unistall, but the program looked like it was trying to install again!
Eventually after waiting for about half an hour, nothing was happening and i have given up.  I just want to use my software!
i then went into the Control Panel>All control panel Items>troubleshooting> selected> system and security> fix problems with windows update - now I can actually open the photoshop version.... but when I trying to do something to the photo, an error appeared and shut down the photoshop!
Basically can I use this software with my new windows 8 computer?  If not is it possible to download and pay for an upgraded version so I can use with Windows 8?
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Hi There
Thanks for your reply.  The error messages i can find are as follows:-
ERROR 1705. A previous installation for this product is in progress. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue.  Do you want to undo those changes?
    YES or NO
    then I found this
Files that help describe the problem

      C:\Users\Julie Greig\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2383.tmp.appcompat.txt
      C:\Users\Julie Greig\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2931.tmp.mdmp
but when I map to the above locations they don't exist in my view!
    This is very frustrating
I have just done what you suggested to turn off the UAC and turned off the security.  when you say run as admin - what do you mean?
    Thanks again for any response.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 boxed software installed once in Dec. 2012 won't install on new computer. Disk can't be read (tested on 3 different computers). How is that even possible of a meticulously clean, well-protected disk?

    Dear Adobe,
    I need your help!
On December 12th, 2012 I ordered (purchased) by mail an official copy of the boxed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 software from B&H Photo (New York, NY). I installed it successfully without any problem on my then computer. I have enjoyed using the program since then, it’s great. This past week, however, that same computer died and I was force to buy a new computer (Windows 8.1).
To my big surprise, the Elements disk wouldn’t load off my DVD drive. The drive just kept “clicking” for 20 minutes.  After trying several times from reboot, for an hour and a half, I then tried installing it on my laptop, just to see if my drive was faulty. No, it wasn’t. It too immediately went into an endless “clicking” routine trying to read the disk. And for one last try, I put it in my sister’s laptop and she got the very same result - endless “clicking”, no install. No computer could read the disk!!!
How is this even possible from a commercially made disk I used only once in 2012! The disk is meticulously clean, unscratched, unscuffed, put away in its original box and stored on my shelf in a cool place away from the sun!
Serial Number of faulty disk:  1057-4186-6029-0039-1511-3940
Is there anything you can do about this as I see no reason why I should be forced to spend over a $130 (in Canada) to replace a disk that worked only once!
    Regards, Andre

copy your disc contents to a desktop directory.  install from that directory.

I have just bought a Wacom Intuos Tablet which came with Photoshop Elements 10 software. I only have 5 attemps to download it and I've already used up 3. They have all failed. What could be causing it to fail.  I have excellent internet connection.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 installation/uninstallation failure

    Hi,
I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on 4 December 2013, and finally today I have tried to install it, on Windows 8.1. But there were problems, big problems.
The installation program said that the installation of "Shared technologies" has failed. So, then, I have rebooted the pc and I have tried to re-install Photoshop Elements, but the installation program reported that before was necessary to unistall P.E., so I followed the instructions on the screen, but at the end the unistallation failed, because "Specified path is empty".
So I has gone in the Control Panel, to perform unistallion from there, but there was no trace of P.E..
I rebooted the pc and tried again the installation/uninstallation several times, but always unsuccessfully.
Then I consulted the Support page on the Adobe site, where I have found that it is suggested to run the "Microsoft Fix It" tool, but actually that tool does not support Windows 8.1...
So, what I have to do? Can you help me, please?

Okay, for anyone else who has experienced this problem, I finally got the new PE 12 to install.
I booted my MacBook Pro from an external drive that had Mac OS (10.6) loaded and started the installation from the purchased .dmg file on my main HD. (Although, I had to RE-DIRECT the installer to install PE 12 into the Applications folder located in the main startup drive).
I rebooted using my one and only startup drive (except for this external drive that I have systems software loaded on), then launched the PE app (the "alias" app) in the App folder and, at least, got something going. However, I got nothing but "help" videos.
I backed out of that, then tracked down and opened "Photoshop Elements 12 Editor.app" (apparently, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) in the "Support Files" folder.
EUREKA! I can now FINALLY access the Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 software via my normal startup drive. YAY!
I hope this helps others who experience the same goofy problems loading Adobe Photoshop 12.
I'll be shopping for something that is NOT ADOBE in the future. This was a ridiculously unnecessary process to go through, and one that is ADOBE specific.
