Adobe Photoshop elements 9 crashes when any selection under preferences is clicked. I have deleted and reloaded the program. I am running Mac OSX version 10.9.2
Below is the error.

Photoshop Elements 8 crashes when trying to start Organizer. Funny, that starting the Photoshop Editor is not a problem and works fine.
I deinstalled the software and then installed it again, but had no effect.
What can I do?

The Organizer preferences may have become corrupted, needing to be automatically re-built on a re-start.
Close Elements.
Click the Start Button and then your user name (in place of mine) and navigate to:
C: Users >> 99Jon >> AppData >> Roaming >> Adobe >> Elements Organizer >>8.0 >> Organizer
Delete the PSA file (with key symbol) and delete Status.dat
After deleting these two files re-start the program

Why doesPhotoshop Elements Organizer opens when I click on Adobe Photoshop?

I'm using a MacBook Pro and each time I try to open Adobe Photoshop Elements, the icon for both it and Photoshop Elements Organizer pop up on the menu bar. If I click on APS Elements, it doesn't open, but the Organizer opens instead. This is a new phenomenon. I used to be able to just open Elements. What can I do to make this quit happening?

It depends on what version you are using. In PSE 10 and 11 you can change this "phenomenon" by going to the welcome screen and changing the settings to as shown in this picture:
If you tell us what version you are using, we can give you more info how to get the welcome screen if you are not getting it.
I don't use Mac so I can't help you further.

Photoshop Elements 8 crashes when "EDIT" opens from Welcome screen

When Photoshop Elements 8 is launched from the shortcut on the desktop, welcome screen opens and at the bottom it shows "gathering user info....". It keeps doing it as long as I don't click on edit button. When I click on edit button, the edit windows opens with my name and soon it crashes and closes the program. After the program closes, it opens a crash report window which I submitted to Adobe three days ago. I am still awaiting for the response. Sometimes, instead of closing the program, it crashes my computer and a blue screen shows up. In this case, I have to shut down the computer and restart again.
I thought I can reinstall the proram but this software would not allow me uninstall either. When I click on "remove" button on the program in the control panel, a window pops up with a message " this action is only valid for products that are currently installed".
Any help from Adobe technician is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Following could be the possible workarounds :
1)      On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
         Go to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
            Now launch PSE and check if it works.
2) Try resetting the PSE preferences by
   1. Close Elements.
   2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Edit.
   3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
3) In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall.

Photoshop Elements 8 crashes when saving/opening file

Since a day or two my PSE 8 crashes when i want to save or open a file.
It just closes without a crash reporter.
Is there anyone who can help me with this?

I am using a macbook pro running OS version 10.9. My version of Adobe Elements 8 came free with my purchase of a Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet.
I have the exact same problem.
- Creating a new blank image and saving it causes a crash. However, saving an existing image does not.
- Using the (File > Open), (File > Save) and (File > Save as) menu options causes a crash.
- Using the File > Save for web causes a crash as soon as I confirm.
So, I create a new blank image in Gimp with the dimensions that I want, export it as a .psd file, and open it by right clicking the blank .psd and selecting (Open with: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8). At this point, (File > Save) and (Command-S) save the image without causing crashes.
However, it's anoying that I have to use two programs to make one image. PSE 8 synergises well with my drawing tablet, but Gimp can create new images. It's really frustrating.
I think I reset my PSE preferences properly, but I'm not sure. Is there supposed to be a dialogue box confirming that my preferences have been reset? I'm not seeing one.
I'd really appreciate some help regarding this issue. Perhaps I should submit a ticket to Adobe support. Can I do that? I'm new here.

Something fishy going on with those particular files. But without looking at them directly I couldn't say what. Usually in a case like this the problem is some of the metadata that is attached to the file. Where did these files come from? A camera, a scanner, the internet?
An explanation about the Watched Folder function: It looks for changes to a folder, not just automatically grabbing whatever files are in it. Generally, you want to select an empty folder as a Watch Folder. Once this has been set up, as you add files to this folder they will be imported into the Organizer. If you start with a folder full of images, those will be ignored, any new items will be added.

Photoshop elements 6 crashes when opening second file

Hi all,
At work we've migrated our pc's from windows xp sp2 to windows xp with sp3 and the latest security patches. Since that time people that open a second file (jpeg) in photoshop elements 6, results in a crash of the program. Unfortunately the windows eventviewer records no error whatsoever.
Has anyone experienced this behavior before?
All help is appreciated.

Is this issue resolved in Photoshop Elements 8?
I don't know -- haven't heard any reports of it, but that doesn't mean anything. Neither does the lack of tech articles about the issue in the knowledge base (Adobe doesn't keep it well-updated). The issue used to happen with me before I changed printers. The best thing to do is to download the free trial of PSE 8 and try it.

Photoshop Elements 7 Crashes When Peak Files Are Generated

Have a PC with 80g HD, Pentium 4, 2g (400hz) RAM running Windows XP. PSE7 generates peak files each time project is opened. When blue bar at bottom right of screen reaches 100%, Elements 7 freezes and must be shut down using Windows task manager.
I have copied the file from 340g ext. HD back to C drive (the location of Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 program) and this has not resolved the problem.
I note that this appears to have been a common problem since 2006 (earlier versions of Photoshop) with Adobe.
Can anyone help.

Have taken screen shot but Forum site will not allow upload of 1.8mb image even though the initial message states "Image will be scaled to fit 2mb limit". Have edited shot to show bottom right of screen only (700kb) and scanned to PDF (895kb) but still will not accept images!!!
In the PRE 7 application the message beside the blue progression bar is "Generating Peak Files For ......" . When the progression bar reaches 100%, the program freezes.

The first time when I tried to open photo shop elements photo organizer it shut right down. Tried 3x more times and the same thing. I thought maybe my initial install was corrupted. So I uninstalled and did a re-install. Tried to open again and encountered the same thing. I checked vis google and found out other people are having the same issue. I'm running win7 pro 64 bit. What is the solution to this problem?

I wish I knew the answer as I'm having similar problems but with the Photoshop part which will not open. I get the moving bar and then nothing but in my case the Organiser opens. I also run Win 7 64bit and have deleted and downloaded the software at least 5 times with no success. It looks like a very expensive mistake and I wish I had never seen the software.

Premiere elements 10 crashes when I click on transitions

I just purchased and installed PE10 on my laptop w/ Win 7 professional 64bit 16gig ram. I haven't been able to do a single project because as soon as I go into the edit menu and click on transitions, the program crashes. It doesn't crash on anything else in the edit menu. So its just a useless program. Is there a fix for this?

Thank you for the info. In the case of an HP (same for Dell, and some others), I would start on their Web site first. HP and Dell are pretty good taking the mfgr's. video driver (nVidia in this case), and tweaking it, as is necessary for 100% performance on their machines. If HP does not have an updated driver for your nVidia Quadro M, then head to the nVidia Web site, go to the Download Drivers tab, plug in your model of card, and your OS. Download the driver, but be sure to read the installation instructions carefully. With Quadro cards, this is very important. Normally, a video driver update is simple, and involves only downloading the driver, and running its executable, usually an EXE. However, I have seen some variations to that with my Quadro 4500 FX cards, where I had to first go to the nVidia console and make certain changes there first. THEN, I just ran the executable. I have seen that three times, where normally, it's just a plain run ececutable - depends on the exact driver version.
I ALWAYS create a System Restore Ponit, for NOW, before doing any driver updates. If that driver is a problem, then it's easy to just roll-back via the System Restore Point.

Photoshop Elements 8 crashes when I try to print in Windows 7

I have had this programme for a week and I like it. However, I have been trying to use it on a laptop with Windows 7 installed. all goes well until I want to print and the computer crashes. I did the same thing a few times so I took the proogramme off, reinstalled it and it still continues to crash. I am using a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30Z Intel Core Duo 2 T6500 @2.10 Ghz with 4 gig of RAM and 455 Gig of memory with over 85% free. Any ideas how to get around the problem? I have had to revert to my old laptop using XP and I have no problems with Elements 8 on that.

It sounds like a compatibility problem with the print driver.

Try selecting the thumbnails (Shift+Click) or (Ctrl+A) to select all, then click on the top menu
Edit >Update Thumbnail For Selected Items
If that doesn’t work close Elements and delete the thumbnail cache which sometime becomes corrupted. Navigate to:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\<Catalog name>
Inside the MyCatalog folder (or whatever name you gave your catalog) you should find a CACHE file:
thumb.5.cache
After deleting that file restart the elements Organizer and wait whilst it regenerates thumbnails.

Photoshop Elements 7 - error when trying to open multiple images

i have attached a screen shot of the error that i get when i try to open more than 1 image at a time. the program ends up closing and i have to re open the program.
i have xp pro installed on my pc. my pc is part of domain. if i log on to the pc as another domain user i can open up more than one image. i have removed the program by using add/remove programs and re installed, which made no difference,
does anyone have any advice?

Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer crashes when importing m2ts files

When I import my collection of images and videos using "Import / From file and folders...", Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer crashes when importing one of my .m2ts files. When I debug it I get:
Unhandled exception at 0x1543025B (mc_demux_mp2_ds.ax) in PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe: 0xC0000094: Integer division by zero.
Is there a way for me to import m2ts files successfully? If not, then is there a way to skip importing these files.

I do not have any version of Premiere Elements installed.
I never removed any files. This is a clean installation from a couple months ago when I got my new hard drive.
That file is located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer\mc_codecs\mc_demux_mp2_ds.ax":
