Photoshop Elements Organizer and Bridge

Our small company has several Windows versions of Photoshop Elements 3.0 of which is primarily used for the Organizer to organize a collection of client images (all nicely tagged), however, the tags are incompatible with our Mac version of Photoshop CS3's Bridge (as such, the Mac is lagging behind the Windows-based organisation of Organizer, which is being prodiminantly populated by Organizer users).
We hoped the new Mac Photoshop Elements 8 would finally get around to shipping with the Organizer, but as it still doesn't, we wondered if it is was possible to install Bridge on the Windows machines in place of the Organizer? and could we import all our current Organizer settings?
Apaprently Bridge will work on a machine so long as other Adobe software is installed, which is fine for our Elements machines, but where can we download it?
Some help on this would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure you really understand the difference between Bridge and Organizer, which may or may not matter one way or the other. Bridge is a browser, not an asset management program, so it doesn't have a catalog. It just shows the files in the folder to which you point it. There are no version sets or albums in bridge, although you can make collections. The only way to get  your current collections out of organizer would be to make tags for them and write them to the files, then reassemble the collections in bridge by keyword searching.
The upside to a program like bridge is that it doesn't care where or how you move your files around. You can do whatever you want when bridge isn't running and it won't complain that it can't find things anymore.

  • Lightroom versus PhotoShop Elements Organizer and Bridge

This is directed to the Adobe Developer Team
I hope someone of the Developer team is reading this!!
For my understanding the three products out of one house (PhotoShop Elements Organizer, Bridge and Lightroom) doing about the same, should ...
work the same (same idea, same behaviour, organizing by path/subfolders instead of cataloges etc.)
maintain the same database and files (LR should recognize the collections from BR and Vice Versa, use the same cache files etc.) and should
be compatible to each other (e.g. Tags, Collections etc)
    Actually I suggest ADOBE
to eliminate Organizer and integrate the good functions into BRIDGE (e.g. albums, upload to flickr, webpage generation etc)
give BRIDGE as the free of charge picture organizer to PS Elements and to PS CS
change LIGHTROOM into an payable upgrade of BRIDGE with enhanced functionality of the free of charge BRIDGE, (which can work as a stand-alone software as it does today
better integration of PSE, PS CS into Bridge/Lightroom (e.g. Panaorama function opens only PS CS but the version of PSE works much better, so I want to choose in the menu of Bridge/Lightroom)
I am really struggling with the three of them.
Beside that I suggest to get rid of the Catalog idea of Lightroom with it's import/export and synchronization needs and instead use or at least integrate the idea of BRIDGE to get pictures structured and organized by path and subfolders, as this is anyhow how the way pictures are stored already for most of us... I asume. I doubt that anybody just throw all files into one big subdirectory and get the organized into cataloges. But please keep collections as they are helpful to quickly collect some pictures to commonly work on them. by drag & drop. The Catalogues of LR drives me crazy but LR have a lot of nice functions (e.g. Webupload interfaces to flickr and others, nice noice reduction, nice albums and webpage functions, etc.)
    Thanks
Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year
    Georg
PS: Please all of you comment your experience and opinion on this matter ... I am interested what you think about it.

    Hi George,
Whereas Bridge and Photoshop Elements (and most non-LR users) base their organisation on the file / folder structure, Lightroom uses files / folders simply for storage - the catalog is used for organisation. This 'catalog based approach' provides far more flexibility, both in organisation, and in recording a complete, fully-reversible record of all edits made to each photograph.
    To suggest that Adobe "get rid of the Catalog idea of Lightroom" and "get pictures structured and organized by path and subfolders" would remove almost ALL advantages Lightroom has over Bridge & PS Elements combined. To fully appreciate Lightroom, you need to appreciate that files and folders are not the only way to organise photos. Why not watch a few of the Adobe Lightroom Tutorial videos? This link below takes you to a video explaining about the Catalog;
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/george-jardine-on-lightroom/the-lightroom-catalog/
    However, if you really want Adobe to hear your views, why not raise a Feature request with them, at this link below;
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
I'm sure if you call your feature request 'Remove Catalog from Lightroom, and organise by Folders instead', it'll get noticed, as will any forum posts of the same name...
    Cheers,
    Alan

I downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements.  I then launched Photoshop Elements Organizer and imported approx. 28,000 photos (including some videos).  A window opened indicating that many of the photos had tags, and asking if I wanted to add the tags.  I said yes, and the process began.  When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've since tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working".  I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem.
FYI, I have an open case (#0214505556), but have not received the help I need.

This issue is with respect to Elements 13.

  • How use easily photoshop elements 12 and bridge cs4 ?

i use bridge to classify my photos .I would like to buy photoshop elements 12 but I don't want to use the organiser (i tryed before but all my photos are in double xith the organiser and its take too much place in my mac!)
is it possible to use bridge and PSE 12 easily ?
    thanks

Well, yes and no. You can use CS4 bridge, but you can't update the raw converter, so you won't be able to see thumbnails or do conversions for any raw files from cameras that aren't fairly old. But the bridge file type associations should automatically update to send pics to PSE 12 for editing.
However, although I'm not an organizer fan, either, there's one thing in your post that may be a misunderstanding:
all my photos are in double xith the organise
The organizer is just a database. It doesn't contain any photos at all, and the only time it ever copies a photo without specifically being told to do so is whent you import a whole photo library from iphoto, and then it does this to avoid writing into the iphoto library from outside iphoto, which is a Very Bad Thing to do. You shouldn't use bridge on your iphoto library, either.

  • How to migrate Photoshop Elements Organizer to Bridge

Can anyone point me to a resource or give instruction to guide me on how to migrate my PSE Organizer catalog into Bridge CC?

Please find my comments inline with the question:
    1) Can this be done? : Yes this can definately be done. To do this you need to take backup on Mac and restore on Mac. This will ensure all media, tag, album and their association remaining intact. For details on how to, please refer: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/elementsorganizer/using/WS3d021fd412237a2f14afb0171392eec10c6- 7ffe.html
2). For sync with Revel: Elements Organizer11, provides you to import/export media to/fro Revel client (on both Win and Mac). I would suggest to downaload a trial version and see for yourself if it suits your purpose.
Please let me know if you need more info on it.

  • Elements 11 and Bridge

I have been using Photoshop Elements 8 and Bridge CS4 happily with my Nikon d40x Camera.  I imported the photos into a folder and opened them with Bridge in camera raw, rated them with stars, and used Photoshop Elements 8 for editing.  My camera broke, and I purchased a new Nikon 5200.  After checking to see what version of camera raw was required for that camera, and confirming its compatibilit, I saw that I couldln't get camera raw 7.4 (I think) for Photoshop Elements 8. So I purchased photoshop elements 11) and installed the latest version of camera raw.  Now when I open the photos in Bridge CS4, I don't see the images. I just see icons with the NEF extension.  I would be happy to update the Bridge CS4, but that doesn't seem to be an option without purchasing Photoshop, which for me (an old lady with a fixed income) is prohibitively expensive.  How can I see my images in Bridge CS4, rate them, and edit them using  the new Photoshop Elements 11 and my new camera?

You can open and edit the camera raw in photoshop elements :

  • IPhoto with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and Adobe Bridge

I have not used iPhoto before now as I have been downloading photos from my Canon and Nikon cameras using their software. I have now moved everything into iPhoto but cannot find iPhoto using Adobe Bridge so I am unable to do any editing using Elements 4. Previously I could find the Canon and Nikon photos using Adobe Bridge. With a simple click on the relevant photo it opened up in Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and I was able to edit it. Now using Bridge I simply cannot find iPhoto thus I cannot use PSE4. Can someone help before I go crazy ? I havde called Apple support but they have been unable to help me and suggested using Discussions@Apple

Many thanks for your quick response although, as a new iMac user, the mere mention of the word "corrupt" scares me ! I previously used a PC with Windows XP and PSE3 and loved being able to sort all my photos into albums with PSE3. Unfortunately the PSE4 which I have installed on my iMac doesn't let users sort their photos into albums and the only alternative is Adobe Bridge. I only recently started to use iPhoto after a visit to an Apple Store and it's great being able to catalog my photos so easily. Unfortunately PSE is far and away superior to any editing software that iPhoto has to offer. Anyway, I'll cross my fingers and try your suggestion first thing tomorrow morning.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Organizer does not launch.

I just installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and have tried to lauch Organizer so I can do the lessons in the Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 classroom in a book. I followed the instruction outlined in "creating a new catalog" BUT when I click on the ORGANIZER button there is no file icon. So I opened the PHOTO EDITOR and tried to open organizer there... when I clicked on the ORGANIZER button it still would not launch. I am very frustrated! Please help!!!!

Are you in the Adobe Download Assistant?  You should be able to click on the cancel button next to the download button if so.

  • I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those clips in Organizer.  I can do that in Premiere Elements 12 and save them as "Projects" - but how do I get the divided clips back into Organizer?

I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those single clips into 2 or 3 separate clips, each shown separately in Organizer.  I can divide the clips in Premiere Elements Editor 12 and save them as "Projects" - but I can't find any way to get those divided clips back into Organizer.  Does anyone know whether that can be done?  Many thanks for your thoughts.

What about Google Drive? And just share the folder with the family members.

My Photoshop elements 11 and 13 organizer suddenly exits. photoshop elements is not responding. Message occurs when the error is found. solicit help, That's all.

We really cannot know. So far you haven't told us anything about your system nor is there any feasible way to diagnose what this "missing file" could be, no matter what. That is, short of elaborate tracking and observation using specialised system diagnosis tools. The welcome screens can be brough back via the Help menu, but well, this might bring back the problems as well. Anyway, this is most likely nothing that a forum can help you with. If you know a computer geek, give him a call. Otherwise I don't see what we could do for you.

  • I purchased adobe photoshop elements 12 and cannot open organizer on my macbook pro 7.1  Any suggest

i purchased adobe photoshop elements 12 and cannot open organizer on my macbook pro 7.1  Any suggestions?

After I successfully install the adobe photoshop elements 12 for mac, I try to open organizer and a window pops up that says
"Adobe Elements 12 Organizer cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Elements 12 Organizer works with this version of Mac OSX. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OSX. Click report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."
I have checked for any updates on my Mac and it is up to date.
I have tried reloading and am still getting the same result.
I can open Editor, but not Organizer.
I am running Mac OSX version 10.6.2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with 4 GB  memory, all standard stuff that came in the computer and I have no security software running when I do this.
Any idea why it is not working?
    Thanks, Victor

  • How do elements organizer and adobe photoshop elements relate? Unclear how/where to save edited photos

I don't understand how elements organizer and adobe photoshop elements relate - how/where do I save edited photos?  I tried to save them on my hard drive and the result was a 65 MB file!!!  Not sure what I'm doing wrong :/ - maybe I'm saving the entire folder every time instead of just an individual photo?

There is no standard field for faces. To transfer information you must put it in the standard place that the new program will use. That does not exist for faces. One work around would be to use keywords. You include the available metadata in a photo by checking all if the boxes when you export the photo(s). What the receiving program is determined by the authors of that program. All iPhoto can do is write what it offers to the IPTC & EXIF fields which it will

  • Lightroom vs Photoshop Elements Organizer

I don't know Lightroom, but a friend suggested it as a solution to my problem, so here goes:
I have a subscription to CC (and have used Creative Suite for years). I use CC at work, but for my personal, non-work photos, I have always used Photoshop Elements Organizer, because I have never found its equal -- as an organizer. Also, I have invested a massive amount of effort into tagging every photo (about 30,000 images, more than 10 years' worth) with keywords.
I have no interest in Photoshop Elements' other features. I have CC for anything that PSE does that I care to do.
However, I don't really want to keep shelling out for PSE, since I'm already paying (have paid) about a zillion dollars to Adobe over the years for Creative Suite and now CC.
So here's the question: Can I use Lightroom (or Bridge, perhaps) as a substitute for PSE Organizer? Does either program import PSE Organizer's catalogs? Because unless I can import what I've got, no other organizer will do it for me.
I'd also consider another organizer product if it could import PSE catalogs, but I'm hoping there's a little gem of a program already in CC that I'm not aware of that will do the trick.
    TIA.

I don't use the face recognition tags in PSE, but I think that those will not transfer to Lightroom, as there is no way to accomodate face recognition tags in Lightroom.
    Earlier you said
However, I don't really want to keep shelling out for PSE, since I'm already paying (have paid) about a zillion dollars to Adobe over the years for Creative Suite and now CC.
so why keep paying for PSE upgrades? There are rarely any new "organizing" features in PSE. Just keep using the version you have, you can probably use it for many years until your operating system won't support older versions of PSE. My PSE 5 still runs under Windows 7 and I have heard that PSE 5 runs under Windows 8.
