Photoshop Elements Version 4 Help

I have version 4 and up until 2 weeks ago it was working fine but now every time I try to open it I get the message “Attempt to access invalid address”. Then I click ‘ok’ and it says “It may still be loading or waiting for a response from you”. I have tried uninstalling it and re-installing it and I get the same error. I contacted Adobe but because they are on version 8 they will not give support to version 4 (which I tore a strip off of them for … thanks for nothing!).
I use Windows Vista and I bought version 4 only 2 years ago.
If anyone knows how to help I would really appreciate it!

Did you by chance just install Google Chrome? If you did, there is a compatibility issue that causes this error as long as Google Chrome is installed. Uninstall Google Chrome and you should be good to go.
If you have Bit Defender 2010, change it to "Game Mode" during your sessions with Photoshop Elements.
Not having the program set to "Run as Administrator" can also cause this error. Right click launch icon and select "Run as Administrator" from the menu.

There is talk in the above thread about turning on User Account Control (UAC) if you just can't bear to give up Chrome.
Edit: If it isn't any of the above, try to recall if you installed any program right before the error started showing up. If you did, that program may have a compatibility conflict with Elements.

PSE 2, I think. I know that's the last one with ME listed in the sys reqs. PSE 3 might have worked, but adobe never said it would.

You need Adobe camera raw version 8.7. Unfortunately your software pre-dates the camera. ACR 8.7 is only compatible with PSE13. But it is possible to download and install the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

Photoshop Elements Version 1 Download

I am desperately trying to find a copy of Photoshop Elements Version 1 having accidentally uninstalled it. I have the serial number and registered it before, I just need to install it again. Does anyone have a copy of the software to hand?

As you registered it you should be able to check on your My Adobe A/c under 'My Products' to find the version number. Versions 7 to 12 are all still downloadable. Adobe Australia still has v6 trial, but it's uncertain if that version can be converted to a registered copy.

Unfortunately, even if there were a download link it wouldn't help. PSE 6 had different serial numbers for downloads and boxed versions that were mutually incompatible, and back then you couldn't just enter a serial number into the trial. That's probably why adobe doesn't have a download available for PSe 6.

I would also like to re-install PhotoShop Elements v4.0 following a PC 'Win XP' recovery but I no longer have access to the downloadable install file via the Adobe 'My Account" area. Adobe Customer Services first level support have been unable to suggest a solution to my re-install issue. I would really like to recover my photos within PSE 4.

Replacing Photoshop Elements version 8 to version 11.

I am updating from Photoshop Elements version 8 to version 11. Do I uninstall version 8? Does it overwrite version 8, or will I end up with both versions on my computer?

Is Photoshop Elements Version 9 Still being supported by Adobe? If so, when will support end? I'm trying to come up with a reason to upgrade to 12 but I'm being met with resistance from management. We are also moving to Windows8. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

a. Are you connected to the Internet, but cannot activate the product because you are getting a message that says you do not have an Internet connection
or
b. You need to activate your product and you definitely do not have an Internet connection

Can PhotoShop Elements Version 1 be installed on a Windows 7 64-bit computer?

I have been running Photoshop Elements Version 1 on a Windows XP machine. I have a new Acer desktop pc running Windows 7 64-bit. I am trying to install this old PhotoShop Elements V1 program from the original installation CD and as soon as I select "US English" and click "Next" I get a brief hourglass as if it is proceeding with the installation, but nothing happens and no message about failure comes back ... it is just as if I never put in the CD. Is this ancient version of PE even compatible?

Its very old version of PSE, Its not compatible with Win 7.

It is a high order probability that your SQL's report generator is creating the PDF, not Acrobat (which by design and EULA cannot be used in as/with server).
That the report generator outputs to an old-old version of PDF bears this out.
Wiki articles on PDF are very nice for those high level intro summaries.
To know / understand PDF you purchase and study the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1:2008).
Rather than "PDF validation" you may want to consider addressing the appearent root cause of the problem(s).
You can change the email2fax application to one that can deal with older PDF versions.
You can change the report generator to one that can output to the ISO Standard.
(Perhaps the in-use application can be configured to output to the current version of PDF (i.e., the ISO Standard).

I now am able to open the old catalog again!! I tried now several times with the new shortcut.
Thank you very much indeed for ALL YOUR EFFORT and patients with me.
You suggest now I should click on the repair button. When I do so, the catalog will be overwritten, or I can choose not to overwrite and than the catalog will be twice as big. So I decided not to click on the repair button. When I see afterwards that some functions do not work anymore, I allways can use the repair button. As far as I can see now nothing is lost.. )
As far as I understood it is only possible to repair with a backup. Happily I made that allways, but I am afraid to use it, for the reason above.
When I have more time to spare, I will look for all the foto's from the apps of my cellphone and delete them.
Now I can finish my fotowork, what I had started before, and make Photoshop Elements again the main fotoprogram on my desktop.

Using Photoshop Elements version 1

Was using Photo shop Elements version 1 recently and deleted a photo. The next time I tried to use the program it would not boot up. Anyone have a suggestion?

When I try starting the program a message box comes up with: Are you sure you want to add the information in C:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements\photoshop elements.reg to the registry?
checking NO: nothing happens. Checking YES: the following statement comes up - Information in C:\program files\adobe\photshop elements\photoshop elements.reg have been successfully entered into the registry
using windows xp

Ich verwende Windows 7 und Adobe Photoshop Elements Version 7.
Das Problem ist, es wird keine Menüzeile (oben am Rand) angezeigt.
Wie kann ich diese wieder aktivieren?

Vielen Dank für Deine rasch Antwort bzw. Fragen.
Das Wichtigste vorab: Deine Annahme war richtig. Nachdem ich die Schriftgrösse wieder auf 100% (von 125%) zurückstellte, war das Menü in PSE wieder sichtbar.
Ich hatte also genau das Problem mit der erwarteten Auflösung, die offensichtlich aufgrund der Schriftvergrösserung zur Unsichtbarkeit des Menüs in PSE führte. Obwohl - die eingestellte Auflösung 1920 x 1080 noch feiner ist. Da bei dieser empfohlenen Auflösung die Schrift für mich jedoch fast unleserlich ist, hatte ich diese auf 125% eingestellt. Offensichlich war das der Fehler.
Mal sehen, ob ich mit einer etwas geringeren Auflösung die Texte besser lesen kann und trotzdem noch die Menüzeile im PSE finde...
