"Photoshop Elements10.0.exe - Bad Image" Error message

My  Photoshop Elements 10 will no longer start.
I have been running Windows on my PC since initial installation and have not changed my set-up in any way, but now receive a "Photoshop Elements10.0.exe - Bad Image" Error message when trying to start my program. The error further reads c:Program Files 9x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\amtlib.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error etc. I have deactivated, removed and then reinstalled Photoshop Elements using my original discs and serial number, but continue to get the same message.
Any suggestions?

As soon as I do anything, the top bar that shows "File", "Edit" etc. dissapears and averything freezes! Security software with possible firewalls I've uninstalled. Un- and re-installing Acrobat doesn't change anything. I'm using MS Windows XP, running Adobe CS4. Making any pdf's is no problem. I just can't see them. I also tried just opening the program directly and got the same message.

  • RIM.DESKTOP.AUTOUPDATE.EXE - BAD IMAGE ERROR MESSAGE

I use a Dell Inspiron laptop with Vista OS. For no apparent reason that I can determine, when I try to open DTM v6.0.2.44, I get the following error message, "Rim.Desktop.exe - Bad Image". After closing this error message, a second error comes up, "Rim.Desktop.Autoupdate.exe - Bad Image" .And after closing the latter, a 3rd error message comes up, "Rim.Transcoder.exe - Bad Image". Finally, I get a repeat of "Rim.Desktop.Autoupdate.exe - Bad Image" and although it takes several tries to get rid of this error message, once I do, the DTM appears to work fine with Syncing and backing up my data. All other software works perfectly and without any error messages. Any ideas?

  • "Font Capture: Adobe Premiere Elements.exe - Bad Image" error message

I purchased Premiere Elements 11 last year and it has been working fine.  But just put in a new HDD into my laptop and now I can't open Premiere.  I uninstalled / reinstalled the program a couple times today with no improvement.  The problem is always the same: once I reinstal the program and open it, I get this error message::
C:\Windows\system32\QUARTZ.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original instalation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support
I tried moving this QUARTZ.dll file, but it says I require permission from TrustedInstaller in order to move this file... whatever that means.
    I am running a Dell Studio XPS 1640.  Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Please help because I need to get these videos processed!
    Thanks so much,
    Janeen

I still have this problem, unfortunately...  I can't open Premiere Elements 11 because this error keeps preventing the program.  The program will start to load in the purple box, and the error box will come up, saying it is a "Bad Image" and there's a problem with the system32\QUARTZ.dll file.  I can't get past that step in opening Premiere Elements 11.
I have followed most the directions on the above article, and connected articles related to it.
I installed updated drivers and Bios, even though they were the same as what my laptop already had.  I also downloaded the latest version of DirectX and that didn't change anything either.   I tried to extract just the QUARTZ.dll file from it, but never was given an option to chose where to save the download or pull files out from it.
Can someone please share any suggestions to battle this problem?  I can't use my Premiere Elements program, which is so frustrating.  Everything else on the computer is working normally.
Thanks for your ideas and suggestions.

  • AcroRd32.exe - Bad Image error message

Suddenly I am getting this error message:  C:\\Windows\system32\ATMLB./dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software  vendor for support.
I am Windows 7 64 bit.  Acrobat XI Pro from the Cloud.  It has been working fine.  I can open some, but it crashes others.  It seems to crash on some fillable forms that I've made.
I uninstalled Adobe Reader XI, but hasn't made a difference.
I am not a techie so a simple solution, is better.
    Should I uninstall and reinstall?
    Thanks for your help.

I was able to fix this, and I posted about it on another forum post here.
I had this issue ("Bad Image: C:\Windows\system32\ATMLIB.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error") with Adobe Reader X (10.1.12). I tried repairing, and then tried uninstalling and upgrading to Adobe Reader XI (11.0.9), but still had the same trouble. I compared the atmlib.dll files in both directories and noticed that the file in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 did not appear to have any file meta data (giving the appearance that it was corrupted), whereas the file in C:\Windows\system32 reflected a file version 5.1.2.238 and product version "5.1 Build 238". Now, it appears based on being installed to "C:\Program Files (x86)" that the version of Adobe Reader I was using was 32-bit. So, this tells me that while the error references the C:\Windows\system32 file path, it is likely actually the file in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 that is the problem (Windows-on-Windows emulation for 32-bit applications, 32-bit libraries actually reside in C:\Windows\SysWOW64, not C:\Windows\system32). I found the same file in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 with the same product and file version on another 64-bit Windows 7 workstation, and simply copied it to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 on the affected workstation, and that resolved the issue.
NOTE: To overwrite the file, I had to change file ownership to Administrators security group, otherwise it was immutable.

  • "Photoshop.exe - Bad Image" error [CS3]

    Hi everyone,
I use Photoshop CS3, and every time I go to open a new document or open a saved document/picture/etc. I get a "Photoshop.exe - Bad Image" error that reads:
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\HPZRPP04.DLL is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
I have to "OK" this message 4 times until I am able to use the program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Peter

Have you tried updating or reinstalling your HP printer? If it's a network printer, try setting up a local printer as the default printer and see if that error goes away.

  • Itunes.exe bad image error

I have been trying to get iTunes up and running for months now with no luck what so ever. I'm running on Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
On opening iTunes I get the error message
    'iTunes.exe - Bad Image
C:\WINDOWS\system32\softpub.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support." '
After clicking Ok a window appears saying itunes has stopped working and that its trying to find a solution. only button is 'close program'. After closing the program a message appears in the bottom right of the screen saying DEP (Data Execution Protection) has closed itunes to protect my computer.
As well as this problem I have been unable to perform a windows update. It has been giving various error codes which I tried to fix using the windows Fixit programs and other fixes but both problems persisted.
I looked thorugh a lot of discussions on different forums online and have tried various things but to no avail. At first I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it (I have now done this around twenty times after trying different fixes) and it downloaded and installed perfectly every time but whenever I tried opeing it I would get the bad image error message.
I have also tried running system file checker (sfc scan) by running command prompt as administrator and it says
'Beggining system scan. This may take some time.
There is a system repair pending which requires a reboot to complete. restart windows and run sfc again.'
But when I restart windows and run sfc again it gives exaclty the same message. I repeated this on numerous occasions after trying other fixes but always gave the same message.
I also read that replacing the softpub.dll file in the system32 file could be a fix, so I downloaded a new file but when I tried to either rename the old one, move it or do a move and replce with the new file I was told that I couldn't because it needed the administrators permission. I am the only user and was logged in with administrators rights so don't know why it asked and when I tried to give permission it says
    ' Destination Folder Acces Denied
You need permission to perform this action.'
It gives the option to retry but this just produces the same message.
Any help would be massively appreciated.

  • PSE 8 Organizer 'Bad Image' Error Message

I have PSE 8, PS Premier 8 and LR 4 insta;lled and haven't had any problems with them.  Yesterday I tried to open PSE 8 and received a 'Bad Image' message that stated
"C\:Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0\amtlib.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.'
However, I went to My Pictures, selected a file that I had edited in PSE 8 a few weks ago, right clicked on Open With PSE 8 Editor and there it was.  When I right clicked on Open With PSE 8 Organizer, I got the same error message as shown above.  I also tried openiong Organmizer through Editor ald also got the same error shown above.
How do I resolve this?  I'm running WIN 7 Pro, DELL XPS 8300.

Here is an update and a workaround.  I hope it's helpful to others as well.
After receiving lots of views, but not receiving any suggestions, I decided to uninstall PSE 8, but kept getting an ERROR 1316 message.  After additional searching I found MicrosoftFixIt, a free download that enabled me to uninstall PSE 8 and Premier Elements 8, where I had encountered the identical amtlib.dll BAD IMAGE error message described in my initial post.
I then reinstalled both programs, and now everything is fine.

  • ITunes/QuickTime "Bad Image" Error Message

Running Windows 2000 Professional on a PC. iTunes and QuickTime are loaded and had been running successfully for a long time. Suddenly, every time I try to open iTunes a box pops up titled "iTunes.exe - Bad Image," and in the box is the error message "The application or DLL C:\ProgramFiles\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.qts is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." (There is no installation diskette.) I believe the first time this occurred was just after I had been prompted to download an update to QuickTime, which I did. I cannot close the error message box, neither by clicking on "OK" nor by clicking on the "X". The only way I can get rid of it is to restart the computer. Also, I cannot open iTunes. Any suggestions?

    hi Sandy!
With regard to the prompt to upgrade QuickTime, I could be wrong about that, but I am almost sure that I got one of those standard "A New Version of ...... is available. Would you like to download it now?"
Okay ... sorry about that. i might well be wrong about it being unusual. i think i downloaded my 7.1 before i ever actually ran QuickTime on its own. (i was troubleshooting an itunes video sound problem i was having.) the rest of the time, i tend to get my new QTs when a new version of itunes shows up. so i guess i always upgrade before QT ever says to me that there's a new version available.
anyhoo, if you've got a standard QT 7.1 in there, we should start by doing a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • CS6 installed, but half of the programs won't open, and give me a "Bad Image" error message

3 days ago I installed CS6, opened Premiere once without problem, now it gives me an error titled 'Adobe Premiere Pro.exe - Bad Image' :
C:\Windows\system32\MSVCP100.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
After that, I removed CS6 completly from my computer, and reinstalled it, after I scanned for virussus. Still the error message appears.
    I use Windows 7.

    Cheers! That worked!
First it told me I had a newer version of MSVC 2010. So I removed it, installed it again, rebooted my computer, and after that installed CS6 and now it works. Thank you very much!

    regards,

As long as this is a self-diagnosis after your AV was turned off, it might be good if you post on a dedicated security site that can advivse you on running some diagnostic tools and does malware removal if necessary. This forum is not set up for that.
I suggest posting the required DDS logs on the Malware Removal Forum at SpywareHammer or another site with trained analysts and have a malware removal staff member walk you through the diagnostic logs and a cleanup. They do not use remote access but will advise you step-by-step on what you can do. Please do not attempt to run any additional scans, install software, or use any other tools until an analyst can advise you on the next step. Please use the same username there as you have here. Help is free. There are no advertisements or trackers on SpywareHammer as some of the other security forums have, but you will need to register at SpywareHammer and follow the posting instructions for downloading DDS and posting your logs.

  • Bad image error when trying to start

This is a fresh install of windows 7 with all current updates.
Every other CC program has installed fine but acrobat will not start I get a "Font Capture:Acrobat.exe - Bad Image" error. I've also run the acrobat cleaner and reinstalled with no luck. Any ideas?

Really a question for the CC forum, but I think you have to activate at least one before you can install Acrobat. It has always come across as confusing to me, but it is something like that.
