Photoshop Error 147:4

Been using PS all morning. Just restarted it (I closed it to do something else and have come back to it) and got a message saying Error: 147:4 Please restart your computer to continue. See Adobe.com/support.
Well...
Error 147:4 is not listed on the support website, so can anyone please tell me what it is?
I restarted my PC and now it won't run at all - it looks like Windows doesn't completely load up all the way. It started up CHKDSK, which then went through and found a lot of hard disk errors, deleted loads of stuff, marked bad sectors etc and now my machine is not working. Is there any connection between the error: 147:4 and my HD problems, or do you think my HD has failed and that caused the error. Either way I'm in a bit of a fix now :-(
Running PS CS4 64bit on Windows Professional 64, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD, Intel Core i5 processor, Asus 1GB GeForce 9800GT video, etc
Any help much appreciated!

Mmm I think you are right.
R.I.P. HD
Thanks for your help!
Brian

I restarted my computer numerous times but this is still happening. Please help me and thanky uo very much for your time.

The key is that it says there's a licensing subsystem failure.
Not sure whether this might help:   http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html

  • Error 147:20 - Adobe

I recently received this error message after downloading the standard Adobe CS4 for windows trail from here at adobe.com. The installation completes and after launching CS4 I receive this message.
"This product has has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT adminastrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention this error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error: 147:20
    http://www.adobe.com/support/"
I'm unsure of what the root of this error exactly is, I tried looking through forums, calling adobe, and even searching the internets but I cannot find any help whatsoever. I restarted my computer various times, uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing...
In addition, the download came with other programs such as "Adobe Media Encoder CS4" and "Adobe Extension Manager CS4" but when I launch those as well it gives me the same exact error message as stated above.
    What should I try next?
All help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Running Vista Home premium. Uninstalled a trial copy of Photoshop CS4 using Vista control panel software uninstaller. Installed a purchased copy of Photoshop SC4. Had exactly the same error as others - error:147:20 problem. The following procedure was followed exactly from TechNote (kb403995)"Run the CS4 Clean Script." Uninstalled purchased Photoshop CS4 using Vista control panel software uninstaller Download & installed Windows installer cleanup utility; installed it and ran it and removed every trace of any Adobe product. Downloaded and installed and ran CS4 utility cleanup - didn't find anything Adobe. Reinstalled Photoshop CS4, registered it (again), started it up - OK, no problems. Closed and restarted - OK again, no problems so far. Thanks for the help Mylenium

Mylenium has the information on this:
130 :: XX through 150 :: XX errors are related to the install database and licensing sub-system. It thinks the install never finished and the licensing does not kick in. Uninstall, run the CC-CS Clean Utility. When you re-install, make sure to correctly run with full administrative privileges. And by all means - make sure your system is on the latest system updates.

  • File is not compatible with this version of Photoshop error

Computer crashed yesterday and now I am getting "File is not compatible with this version of Photoshop" error and unable to opening in PS CS5 or Fireworks CS5. Any ideas? Also tried the PS repair download and would rather not pay $30 to find out it can't do it. Seems like a common error but in all of the forums I haven't found a solid answer. Appreciate some real advise.
    Thanks in advance

This is the free app that all the PSD repair hacks are based on: Telegraphics - Free plugins for Photoshop & Illustrator...and other software
There are 3 possible reasons for that error: file corruption on disk, more than 8000 layers in the file, or a layer somehow went over 30,000 pixels in a PSD file (which would be legal in PSB, but not in PSD).

  • Runtime error 147:20 Help!

    Hi guys,
Im new to this forum, hopefully someone can help me with this. So i installed the Adobe Flash CS4 on my computer but i keep getting an error when running the Flash application. This is the error i'm getting(refer to the attached image):
the Error 147:20 keeps bugging me. I was wondering if there is a way around this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

Technically, this is not Adobe technical support, just users helping users.  Adobe tech support attendance here is minimal if at all.  IF you go to the link identified in the error message and search your error under the Flash section, you might find some helpful info... or you might at least find someone that might have responded that you can try to contact directly.

The earliest mavericks problems reported was the photoshop -1:

The workaround was not to left-click on the menu. Use right click, or other options and menu commands.

I am getting a photoshop error could not load photoshop because the preferences file was invalid and cln't load actions because of an unexpected end of file encountered.

Are you trying to open Photoshop directly, or open it by double clicking on a Photoshop document, like a PSD file?  If the former, then you might need to reinstall.  Resetting Preferences would be the firs step, but I am not sure if that will work if Photoshop is not opening in the first place.
Try doing so anyway.  Hold down Shift Alt Ctrl (Shift Opt Cmd) while opening Photoshop. OK the message to delete Preferences.
If you get the unexpected end of file error while trying to open Photoshop via a PSD document, then there is more than a good chance that that file is toast.
If still stuck, we need to know Operating System, and Photoshop version.

  • Entering Time Machine From Mail Gives Photoshop Error!

    Hello everybody,
This is a very strange one: If I enter Time Machine when Mail is in front, and if Photoshop is opened, I always get this error from Photoshop: "Could not complete your request because of a program error."
    What happens is this:
    • I choose the Enter Time Machine command (Entrer dans Time Machine in French, in fact).
    • I hear a beep, but the computer goes right into Time Machine, without a hitch.
    • I can do anything I want in TM.
    • After that, when I activate Photoshop, I see the Photoshop error dialog. I close this dialog and Photoshop works perfectly well.
This happens whether a file is opened in Photoshop or not. It does not happen when Photoshop is in front, +*it happens only when Mail is in front*+.
    I am puzzled...
    RTP

    Hi joshz,
Thanks for jumping in. Well, this is most surprising. There is no record of any error caused by this, no reference to this one way or the other, no error of any kind... I searched with different keywords, Adobe, Photoshop, Time Machine, TM, Mail, to no avail. Anyway it's easy as I can reproduce this error dialog at will: With Mail in front, I enter TM, hear the beep coming from Photoshop (!!!), get out of TM and there it is in Photoshop.
Then I look into the console. An error reported by this event should be the last one and dated correctly, right? Well, there is nothing new.
What literally baffles me is the fact that this happens only when Mail is the active application when I enter TM. I tried every other combination to no avail.
Other info about memory in my answer to orangekay.
I must say that it was very thoughtful of you to translate your post in French. I do appreciate the courtesy. And yes, your French is certainly acceptable, taking into account that it is not your mother tongue and that you probably do not use it very often. The reason why I mentioned the command name in French is that I was not sure of the exact name in English as my OS is in French. OK, I speak it with what my Hoosier friends call "an accent". But then I tell them... "Look who's talking!"

  • Error 147:20

I recently had the 147:20 error show up when trying to start photoshop elements. As I was working through the knowledgebase on this problem i discovered that the licensing service never installed/got set up or existed on my computer in any form. After setting up the service and making the folders when i go to start the FLEXnet Licensing Service I recieve the error that
Windows cannot start the FLEXnet Licensing Service 64 service on Local Computer
Error 2: The system cannot  find the file specified
How do I go about fixing this problem?

    Hi,
Can you please check if the following two files are installed at the below location:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FLEXnet Publisher\fnp_registrations.xml
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FLEXnet Publisher\FNPLicensingService.exe
If no, then please uninstall and install the application again. If yes, then please follow the instructions mentioned in the below article and see if that helps:

  • Photoshop CS2: "file not compatible with this version of Photoshop" error

So, I've been working with Photoshop for almost 20 years now, and lately I've been getting this error message on occasion (but not on every file) when I go to open a file I worked on just yesterday: "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop." I just worked on it yesterday in Photoshop. The file was saved as a PSD, and when I attempt to open it through Painter IX, that program tells me that it's not a Photoshop document. Why can't I open this file anymore, and why is it giving me this error message when I don't have Norton AntiVirus installed, and my 'maximize PSD and PSB file compatibility' is set to 'always'??
Does anyone have an idea on how I can open my file? How can I get around this, and how do I prevent it from happening again?

This is the boilerplate text I use in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please
    cease and desist immediately
in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files.
Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/322391.html
    Copy the
CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work. It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does
not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.
