I had the same problem.
I tried installing a Dell Printer that I was given and all of a sudden the APPCRASH started occurring.
Renaming windows/twain32 to windows/~twain32 fixed the access to the Adobe Programs.
I had tried calling customer support and they wanted me to get a new Photoshop program for $600. I even tried uninstalling and installing 6 or 7 times, but the only thing that worked was renamed the file.
Below are the errors I was getting. I hope this helps someone else.
Thanks for the previous posters!

I have been searching, reading, seeking help from Adobe and I'm at my wits end! I updated everything, including my NVIDIA with no difference.
I even tried removing the "MMXCore.8bx" file which didn't help (sorry don't have Event Log for what happened next.)
The last thing I tried was...
Went to add/remove and followed prompts to uninstall Photoshop CC.
Restarted my system (I didn't quit the CC desktop app. Adobe help said to do that in an email, but I had done it before I received the email which was a reply form a chat help session.)
Opened Creative Cloud desktop app (Photoshop was gone from installed apps)
Scrolled down to Photoshop and clicked on "Install"
Waited over 4 hours while it downloaded.
Took screenshot which is this....
Please note how it says "Up to Date", which is EXACTLY how it was before the uninstall.
Can you tell me why is everything exactly the same?
Why are all my filters there, which I installed, are still there?
Why are all the extra brushes, which I installed, are still there?
EVERYTHING is exactly the same. Even the errors which I am having!
What did I do wrong? Can you tell me the correct procedure which I asked Adobe Chat for in the first place!!
Below, is the error log in which I'm having problems with and is the reason I'm trying to uninstall and re install Photoshop. And also my system info..
I would really appreciate some help with solving this issue.

Photoshop CS4 APPCRASH @ Startup Vista 32bit
Hi,
I've currently trying to fix photoshop on my company computer and I can't seem to get it to work. I've tried the following:
1. uninstall/delete files/reinstall
2. clear prefetch files
3. scan for viruses and registry errors
4. run as admin, run on different account, run in compatibility mode
My Computer is a Dell XPS1530 with 8600m GT. Photoshop worked fine for quite sometime and now it crashes with the following error after reaching "Building color conversion Tables"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
JohnI just scan using the scan software, make adjustments, then save to a folder on my hard drive. Twain is suppose to work with 32 bit but you know how that goes. There is no 64 bit support for Twain so scanning with my software is the only choice for me.
You might be on to something with the ports. I would just remove the printer and scanner then boot the computer up and remove the software. Then shut the computer down again. Restart the computer and then start photoshop and my thinking is that it will be reset as not to see the scanner and printer. Then shut down PS and your computer. Then do your install process of the printer and scanner on the newer USB ports. -
Hi,
EMET 5.1 is crashing/not opening these applications on two of our staff workstations (Both are Windows 7 x86): Outlook.exe, Photoshop.exe and Communicator.exe.
One computer, EMET crashes Communicator and Outlook. The other Computer, the EMET crashes Photoshop only.
Obviously, it works for everybody else. Can someone please explain to me why would EMET crash these apps if it works for the rest? Could it be that it found a possible threat/exploit to the machine?
How do I mitigate this problem?
Please advise. Below is a sample of the error.

the add-ons that are installed. Verify that the OS and apps have all the latest patches if you haven't, though you have probably already done that. If those don't work you could try unchecking the EMET application protection boxes for the
application that isn't working, one by one. Note that EMET 5.2 is out now so that might be something to try too. -
Hi,
I get this error randomly when i run my VB 6.0 application which calls Photoshop CS2 actions. I went through many forums, but could not manage to get the right solution for this.
"The application, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Photoshop.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 10/01/2009 @ 11:31:59.964 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 7C81BD02 (ntdll!ExpInterlockedPopEntrySListFault)

Photoshop CS2
ANy help on this will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
SmileyI see this sort of error notice in Bridge and Photoshop, preceded by the message " Photoshop (or Bridge) has encountered a problem and must close. Tell MS.
Yes or No."
It most frequently happens in PS when running Dfine 2.0. I have no clue what triggers the Bridge closure. It happens randomly.
CS3, so nobody gives a tinkers dam, I suppose.
I see this kind of message in software testing on a regular basis. Of course, when the test is under way, the software is generating a detailed log file which we package up as part of a bug report. Then at the bug scrubs, lively discussions ensue as to who has to fix what!
I can only image what would happen if the Dfine people and the PS people had to sit through one of those! -
How can i run multiple instances of Photoshop EXE at the same time on windows 7
Alright. You may ask why do you need multiple ?
Assume that i have 10000 PSD files in 10 different folders
I have a script that just save as them as PNG
And these files are each 3000x3000 px
My computer has 8 cores and 1 photoshop exe is only using 1 cpu core
Also i have SSD raid system it has 750 mb read write per second
So right now i am wasting my time with running only 1 photoshop exe instead of at least 4I'm not aware of a way to run multiple instances or different versions of photoshop at the same time on windows.
Assuming of course they are all installed on the same operating system.
On mac versions you can running two different versions of photoshop at the same time, but i don't think that's possible on windows where it
appears that only one version of photoshop can run at a time. -
Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found (MSVCP80.dll)?
Hey guys, new to the board here and pretty much at the end of my rope.
Starting maybe 2 days ago I began getting quite a strange message when I tried to open Photoshop CS3.
I'd send a jpeg of the window but with photoshop down i'll settle for just typing this crap out:
Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The Procedure entry point ?replace@?$basic_string@DU$char_traits@D@std@@V?$a llocator@D@2@@std@@qaeaav12@IIPBD@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCP80.dll
Now, that's a mouthful! Fortunately i'm at least computer literate enough to dig around on google.
After doing that, I came up with nothing. I found a replacement for the DLL that it's having trouble with, but that did nothing.
I then tried out a program called Registrybooster, which found quite a few problems with my registry but failed to correct whatever is causing this problem.
So I tried to backtrack a little bit and see if anything I had done since the last time the program worked (wednesday the prior week) had broken it. I had shut off some startup programs so i figured maybe that had something to do with it. Unfortunately undoing those changes had absolutely no effect at all.
I then tried out doing a repair install, which did nothing. After this, I did an uninstall and reinstall and... nothing.
Some extra info: I run windows xp home edition on this PC and have it updated to SP3.
I've had photoshop on it for about a year with no problems.
Hopefully someone can help me here. Almost every thread I located with similar problems via google either went unanswered or the answers given didn't actually help me out.
Someone save me!Hi Chris, thanks for chiming in on my problem.
I'm doubtful of it being TWAIN/WIA caused, but will look into it. I have a wacom tablet and a canon scanner so who knows. What would you suggest I do to see if those two are causing anything in particular? (Not sure why they would as I haven't made any changes to the programs or hardware involved recently.) -

Photoshop.exe 64bit error 0xc000007b on photoshop startup
I just got a new computer and installed a 15$ trial cd of master suite collection. The 32 bit version of photoshop works fine but when i click on a .psd file that is already created i get this error photoshop.exe 64bit error 0xc000007b the application need to be closed. Is there a solution
I using Windowss 7 Home pre 64bit.
system specs; windows 7 homepre 64bit 6gb ddr2 ram processor amd phneom 965 graphic card this nvdia geforce gt 220That error is usually caused by a bad registry error.
You wrote that you installed Photoshop on the new computer. The next sentence you wrote you installed the master suite try out. Did you actually install CS4 then installed the master suite over that? Little confused here.
You cannot install the master suite over the CS4 already installed because the master suite already has CS4 installed as a package. That may be where your error is at.
Anyways here is a link to the creative suite forums. They may be able to help you out better.

I would attempt to isolate the problem starting in Safe Mode. Will PS exit properly in Safe Mode?
Online checks for similar problems (Firefox is notorious for this problem) indicates certain apps like Java is indicated, but I doubt this here. Also, corrupt drivers are indicated.
Run a query: "Apps won't close in Win7" in Google and see if you have any similar setups you come across there. -
Shall I just reinstall the program? It was running fine until I got a Trojan last week. I'm pretty sure the Trojan has been removed'
It sounds like your windows registry is messed up. That you may have had cs5 at one time and upgraded to cs6 than got a subscription and installed Photoshop CC. You than followed that with an uninstall of CS6 which backed out its registry update and restored windows registry Photoshop.exe key to what it replaced your old CS5 path. Since CS5 is no longer on you machine you get that message. Use regedit search for key Photoshop.exe and correct the path to Photoshop CC 2014...

if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).

Open PS6 in Acrobat with a renamed "photoshop.exe"
Text in english is powered by Google Translate :-)
On the computers CS4 and CS6 is installed in parallel. Since images are standard 'open with CS6, had the two "Photoshop.exe" in "photoshop4.exe" and "photoshop6.exe" be renamed so that it was possible to choose PS6 under "Open with ...". Now there is the problem that from Acrobat and Bridge it is no longer possible to edit images with Photoshop, because he wants to have the original "Photoshop.exe". Can I teach the two programs that he "photopshop6.exe" uses? If so - how?
Why not leave Photoshop CS6 with the original file name photoshop.exe ?
