Photoshop Extended CS 4: 32 bit & 64 bit has stopped working with an error 131:4

Dell XPS 720 Quod Processor 8GB Memory Running Window 7
Both Photoshop Extended CS 4: 32 bit & 64 bit has stopped working with an error 131:4. which stated to reboot to solve the problem. After several attempts at rebooting the computer, I received the same error message.
I was in the process of updating all my Adobe software in order to tackle an Adobe Media Encoder problem: when I sent a stream from the time line to be converted to an AVI file from Premiere Pro CS4 to Encoder the window appeared & hung.
I want to treat the Photoshop problem first. How do I proceed?

Unable to Re-install Adobe Photoshop cs4
A few years back my brother bought me a Dell Studio XPS 8100 running Windows 7 pro.
I have 8 gig's of ram and has a 32 and x64 bit system, right now it is enough for my needs and I can easily spare a gig or two for this program.
I cannot install this program again. I have used iYogi, Adobe Tech, support and am wondering if it makes any difference whether I install it on a x64 or 32 system?
Why can't i re-installl the program. I used it a lot and I do miss it.

Reinstall your software. You haven't provided any useful system and version info, anyway.

  • After installation of cs4 extended upgrade update installations get "adobe setup has stopped working

I've used CS3 and CS4 expanded (upgrade) on my older computer with Windows XP and though slow, mainly after cs4 was installed, they worked well. I've recieved a new computer for christmas and am moving my CS3 and CS4 expanded (upgrad) to the new computer and am having some problems.
My new computer setup is this.....
Windows Vista , Premium Home edition (65bit) with SP1
Intel Core i7-920 Quad Core Processor
    RAM -3GB DDR3
Amount of free disk space. 653 GB
Make/Model of Video Card. - ATI Radeon HD 4850
CS3 installs fine though on execution photoshop says that it prefers a dua core processor I click the continue button and it seems to run fine.
After installing CS3 I restart and upload CS4, which takes a long time!, then run bridge to install updates and thats where my first problem occurs.
When the updates are installing I get this message...."Adobe setup has stopped working" and windows looks for a solution which of course isn't there, ha!
So I've tried to use CS4 without the updates, run bridge, select a photo to open in photoshop and after photo opens in photoshop an error message comes up saying this "the specified modul could not be found C:\programfiles\commonfiles\adobe\Adobe Version Cue C44\client\4.0.1\Version Cue.DLL" and when I x out the error box photoshop closes, unable to use it any further (not bridge though)
I suspect this error message comes up because I can't do the updates? Either way I sure could use some help here!
Oh, and I've deactivated and reinstalled and the same happended after reinstallation.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

People like me, who distrust Adobe's updater, get the updates from the Adobe download site. That way you have control and you only get what you need. For example, if you are not working with colleagues on a network you don't need Version Cue.
Don't worry about the message regarding the processor. Adobe's installers are just as bad as their automatic updates and your processor is simply too new and they are not up-to-date. You may get similar false alarms with Bridge.

  • When launching Ps CS4 Extended... Adobe Ps CS4 has stopped working...

I have recently upgraded a 2 year old HP Pavilion m9040n to a clean install Win7 64 Bit system with 8 GB of ram. I have installed all applicable updates from both MS and Adobe.
The 64 Bit version of Ps had been functioning for about a week with no noticeable issues and then 2 days ago I saw the subject referenced error.
My work around has been simply to launch the 32 Bit version of Ps, change file associations as needed and disable the Ps 64 Bit script in Adobe Bridge.
I am curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.
    And...
Are there any significant differences between Ps 64 Bit and Ps 32 Bit?
    Thanks!
    Dan

Good point dec, and to further complicate my troubleshooting.... since my upgrade and subsequent performance boost... I am guilty of "Kid in a Candy Storeitis"... I have been tweaking performance and adding peripherals and then tweaking and adding some more... put it this way If my kitchen sink had a USB port... it's be hooked to my pc by now...
Seriously tho' there are a couple of things that I did to my system which would/could come into play.
    Security Update
    Updated Wacom Intuos4 driver
    Updated driver for 2nd Monitor
Re-installed Corel Painter X and Corel Sketch Pad after they both crapped the bed.
I was also using Bridge to move around some pretty hefty image collections (caching everything) (when I say "using" I mean beating it like a rented mule)
At this point, everything is safely backed up in multiple locations so I am tempted to keep acid testing my system and see what happens.... hey if nothing else maybe I can serve as a warning for others....

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working with (Wacom CINTIQ21UX)

    Has this been addressed?
I have been following this thread pretty closely
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/633937?tstart=0
It clears up the issue with multiple screens but doesnt address the issue with Adobe Photoshop CS5 not being able to load with the latest Wacom Cintiq 6.1.5-3a driver. I have tried the 6.1.2-5 driver able to load photoshop CS5 and calibrate my pen. but Photoshop wont recognize pressure sensitivty, rotation, tilt, any of the brush settings from the drop down it flags a caution yield sign, which is better than not having any pen.
Just wanted to know if someone found a way around it. or if Adobe or Wacom is actually working on a patch to address the error. At this point I am thinking about reverting back to Adobe Photoshop CS3.

    My scenario and history:
Windows Vista Ultimate and now Windows 7 Ultimate
NVidia Quadro Fx 4500 driving 4 monitors total SLi on or off - makes no difference.  Drivers irrelevant.
    2 x Xeon 5160 (so total 4 cores)
    24Gb RAM
    PS CS 4 or 5
4 monitors - - yep it is the 4 monitor thing.
    Fails everytime as you describe.
Observation - If you Remote Desktop Connection onto the computer - and so in effect are using only ONE monitor - PS works fine.
A WORKAROUND for 4 or 5 - I don't consider this a fix because you lose some functionality but it gets you 99% there and is the same workaround for CS4 or 5
    Go to<drive>:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64bit)\Plug-ins\Extensions\    (or CS4 - depending on version)
    Locate File:
    ScriptingSupport.8li
Disable this extension by renaming the file with a tilde in front of the file name.  Thus:
    ~ScriptingSupport.8li
Start Photoshop - it works and is mainly functional.
The only real downside I have discovered is that disabling this scripting extension means you cannot use some of the built in scripts under FILE - SCRIPTS - the biggest PIA for me being the Contact Sheet builder no longer works.  But as I now use Lightroom to create contact sheets - this is not a big loss.  Other scripting functionality - I am sure is affected - but not to a point I find PS unusable.
ADOBE - if you read this - it has been that extesion now for the last two editions of PS.

  • Installed Photoshop Elements 13.  Tried to launch - "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working."

I downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 13 & Premiere Elements.  I then launched Photoshop Elements Organizer and imported approx. 28,000 photos (including some videos).  A window opened indicating that many of the photos had tags, and asking if I wanted to add the tags.  I said yes, and the process began.  When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working".  I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem.  Same when I opened from Premiere Elements.
I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled Elements 13 three times, twice using the Akamai downloader, and once using the Alternate method.  It said installation completed, but when I opened the program, it went straight to the error "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working".  These times I didn't get to import my photos or their associated tags.

I already checked that and I have the latest drivers for my printer. Thanks for the suggestion though.  Dennis

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working [Lightroom 5 Beta]

I was looking for a Lightroom 5 Beta forum but am unable to find one.  Today, I downloaded and installed LR5 Beta on my new HP Envy 64-bit Windows 8 machine.  After running an installation, I started the program.  At first, it asked about opening a catalogue during which time I created a new one as I have no intention of using my LR4 catalogue for LR5B.  After creating the catalogue, it stated the following:
"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
After it closed, I tried opening it again.  Same result.  No matter how many times I tried, the program would not open.  I tried reinstalling the program to no avail using the "repair" feature.  Finally, I just removed the program.

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64 bit has stopped working error

I had not been using my laptop for a while and decided to install lightroom 3.2.  I did the install and now when I try to start lightroom I get the error message in the subject line:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64 bit has stopped working
I have a Windows 7 laptop, with 6gb RAM, ATI Radeon video card.  The laptop is working well, except I just noticed that Photoshop CS5 64 bit and After Effects both give a similar error upon starting those applications as well.
Any ideas as to how I can solve this problem.
    Thanks,

Did you receive any error messages during the installation process?  You can check your installation log files to look for errors.  Please see Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html for more information on how to locate and interpret the installation log files.

  • Vista 64-bit issues "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"

I recently purchased Elements 8 and to this point have been unable to use the editor function.  I can "Organize" without complaint but when I attempt to edit a photo I get a message telling me that "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working."  I have attempted to uninstall and re-install and the result has been the same.  While researching online I see that there are a number of people that have this issue but have been unable to find any real solution.  Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:

It's very likely that your issues are unrelated to the fact that you're running on 64-bit Vista as opposed to 32-bit Vista.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Win 7, 64 bit)

I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the splash screen goes away and the main gui opens. The only option on the error is "Close Program".
I am on a computer with an i7 processor and 12GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, running four monitors.
Over the course of the last day, I have reformatted my computer, and reinstalled Windows twice. I have reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite more times than I can remember. I have also downloaded and installed the latest video card drivers from Nvidia.
I continue to have the same problem every time I try to open any of the programs in the CS5 suite.
The only time I have come close to getting it to work was immediately after installing the new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I was able to open it one time without it crashing, Once I restarted my computer, Photoshop continued to give me the same error every time I try to open it.
I have no other software installed on my computer. It is a brand new installation of Windows 7.
I have been on the phone with Adobe technical suuport for about an hour and a half, and I have yet to get a single suggestion other than attempting an install with my network cable unplugged. Other than that, they seem to be fond of transfering me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all of my information every time).
As you can probably tell, I am very frustrated at this point and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Trevor
