Photoshop Extended. Paintbrushes disappeared. Help please

Hello.
Hopefully someone can help here because i have been looking for a solution for hours to no avail.
I have Photoshop cs5 Extended. The brush tool has been working fine but for some reason it has now replaced all the 'standard' paintbrushes to more specialist ones (aurora, granite effects) that i have no need for and as it is i cannot use the brush tool for what i need.
I have tried to find a download for standard brushes but again they are all effect brushes which i have no need for.
If anyone can give any advice, i'd very much appreciate it.

Ok, apologies for that, but thank you for bearing with me.
I did follow your advice, although i don't see the same on my screen as your caption; i did replace the round brushes with size as you explained and did see the above dialog, which did replace the brushes but it is the tools that need replacing.
When i tried the same advice for the tools- it did change them but not to the tools i had before.
If there is anything else you can think of to get the standard brushes back, please let me know.

Might corrupted dock and desktop preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.dock.plist file to the Trash.
Do the same for: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Then restart your Mac.
As you have discovered, third party dock and desktop customization apps can often cause problems.

Photoshop is really broken, help please

hi, i have had a problem for a while now and i am not really sure why.
My problem is using the brush tool in Photoshop, while i am using it, it is fine, there are no problems but when i unclick to stop drawing on my trackpad and try to to scroll using two fingers on my trackpad nothing happens, my artwork doesn't move until i them command click back into the photoshop window, it then goes crazy and does all of the scrolling i tried to do before i command clicked back in.
The same sort of thing is happening with a lot of the other tools, when i use the spot healing brush the area selected stays the dark grey colour until i command click back into photoshop then it will heal the area.
The lasso tool shows the selection but does not start the marching ants until i command click again. The polygon lasso tool lags behind clicks, for example, when i click nothing happens, i then click again and nothing will happen, when i click for the third time the first two dots then connect, when i click again the next dots will connect but will never connect to the last dot until i click i join the shape up and click once more, which then makes the shape disappear.
I am having the same sort of problem with the clone stamp tool, the history brush, the eraser, the blur, sharpen, smudge, dodge, burn, sponge tools, i guess any tool that has a brush size. and all of the lasso tools. All of the other tools work fine to my knowledge.
I think it has something to do with apples track pad, today i tried using a mouse and it worked fine, i could draw a line and then scroll with the little ball in the apple mouse and it worked fine, but when i drew a line on my trackpad then tried to scroll with the mouse it didn't do anything until i command clicked. i then tried to click with the mouse and use the trackpad to scroll and that also worked fine.
Im currently using photoshop CC 2014 but i also had these issues in photoshop CC and i am pretty sure in photoshop CS6.
I am using a macbook pro retina 15 these are the specs
MacBook Pro   (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
Processor   2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory   8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics   Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
i also had the same problem with my 2012 Macbook pro 15.
i have searched for an answer to this but i can't seem to find anything on the internet, i had uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop, i have reset all of the tool preferences, and deleted all of photoshops preferences when that didn't do anything.
any help would be very much appreciated

I'd start by checking the drivers for the trackpad are up to date if there are such things on a Mac.

Photoshop Elements 2.0 Help Please!

I just installed Photoshop Elements 2.0 and when I go to open it I get an error message saying that the program "Could not initialize Photoshop Elements because the scratch disks are full. This is definately NOT because of my computer's processing power, which runs off of XP has 3 Gigs of ram a 1.5TB hard drive (for my C: drive) and runs off of a 3.2 GHz microprocessor (so it's fairly speedy). I used to have photoshop on my old drive, now my backup (D:) drive, but I recently uninstalledit and reinstalled the program, using the disc, onto my new drive. I've tried cleaning up (using CCleaner) and defragmenting my drive, but nothing seems to work. Please help me out here.

P.S. I don't know if this is an occuring problem on any of the other editions of Elements, but if it is, I'm sure it can probably be solved in the same way, so even if you don't have the 2.0 edition, any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Elements 2 is a very old program but you need to ask in the Elements forum.

PhotoShop Error: 147:20 - HELP PLEASE

Alright, so each time I try to open Adobe Photoshop, this is the error i get:

The key is that it says there's a licensing subsystem failure.

Facebook app not working and my blackberry world has completely disappeared, help please!

Hi guys, I'm in a real stooper, my facebook app. Was due an upgrade but soon after the upgrade it stopped working and everytime I click on to the icon it crashes the phone so I have to switch it on and off again to get it working, it then displays an error message. I've also noticed that my blackberry app. World icon has totally disappeared.
I really hope someone can give me some advice as I don't really know where to go from here and who to contact, please help!!

Photoshop album 2.0 HELP please

Why is my sony camera working with photoshop album 2.0 but my Canon Powershot won't work?? I've used the canon for a year with this program and since I've had to reinstall it won't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated

The program does not do screen captures for you, you would needs something else to help.
Set the thumbnail to maximum size - one per screen.
Now, if you hit the PrintScrn button on your keyboard it will place an image on the Windows clipboard. You would then need to go to an image editing program, paste it in, trim and save.
Alternatively, there are a load of [free] screen capture programs around that would help you automate this process. You might look here, for example: http://www.nonags.com/nonags/grcapt.html

Photoshop Elements 8 Crashed--HELP PLEASE

How do I fix my photoshop elemnts 8 after I received a message "PSE unexpectedly crashed". I was simply uploading pics to Shutterfly and it crashed. I'm getting no support from the Adobe help line!

Photoshop CS5 Keeps Crashing - Help Please!

Hey guys,
This morning, I've gone to open up a PSD which I have spend a while working on, and, whilst Photoshop fully loads the file and is visible within Photoshop, the application crashes before I get a chance to do anything to the document.
It appears to only be doing this with existing PSD files, and if I open Photoshop by itself and create a new document, it works as normal. However, it's the existing files, which I have put a lot of work into, that need to work.
I have tried a restart, with no hope. Any suggestions please?

Photoshop problem, novice requires help please!!

Good morning
I hope I am on the right page here. I am trying to install Adobe Photoshop 2.0 onto my Vista Windows 2000 laptop.
I have tried many times and have been given 2 seperate unlocking codes, but for some reason these codes are not being accepted and a fatal error message like below comes onto my screen.......

Now I'm no techno whizz and I have no idea how to solve this problem. Please could anyone out there provide some advice?

Photoshop Elements 12 organizer Help Please

I have downloaded all my scrapbooking grahics into the organizer and it's been fine up until yesterday. After I scrapbooked a couple layouts I went back into the organizer to use an element again and instead of it showing the graphic it shows an hourglass filling up. This has never happened before. So today I went back in thinking everything has restored itself but all the graphics I used yesterday still show hourglasses instead of the graphic. Now if I click on the hourglass it will show the graphic but what good is that? I have thousands of graphics in there and the rest are fine. So what I just did was delete the kits that it affected out of the organizer. ( Some kits have maybe 25 elements) I should have just deleted the actual element but no stupid me deleted the whole kit. What I was attempting to do was just reinstall them right back into the organizer. Now when I brought the kits back into the organizer, every darn item is an hourglass instead of displaying what it actually is. Please does anyone know what the heck happened and how I can correct it???????

Please help!! I have tried to reset my ipad. nothing is working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes. it says there is an error when trying to connect ipad with itunes.

Try and force the iOS device into Recovery Mode:

1. Turn off device
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to device
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected the device in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore device
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your device

All of my iWeb websites have disappeared, help please!!!

Someone please help!!
I have created some very complex websites using iWeb that took a lot of time. I turned my mac on yesterday and started iWeb in the same way that I always do and a pop up box came up saying that iWeb couldn't find the domain file. I wasn't sure what this meant at the time and hit cancel and now all of my sites have been wiped from iWeb.
After doing a bit of research I found out about the domain file. I tried to look for it on my Mac but at first it was no where to be seen. To start iWeb again I had to start a new website. It was only after this that a new domain file popped up, but it only had information regarding the new site on.
I have the sites I created published, backed up and saved. So a few questions,
1. Does anyone know why this has happened?
2. Is it possible to import my iWeb published websites back into iWeb?
3. Why is this program so under-developed, it has so much potential?!!? (You don't need to answer that one, just me venting a bit of frustration )

When you say that you have the sites you create "Published, backed up and saved" do you have your domain.sites files backed up and saved?
If not, then you are out of luck. No it is not possible for iWeb to import published websites back into iWeb. iWeb has no import facility and creates html upon publishing.
Your domain files cannot just be deleted like this, especially from iWeb, not unless you physically trash it or delete your sites from your domain file.
All your domain files are stored under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. Look here and your domain files should be there - be careful to look under your User/Library as iWeb is not found under your System Library.
The only drawback that I can see with iWeb is the inability to import published sites. Anything else that you want to do can be worked around with the use of either html code and the html snippet or javascript code etc.
What you have to remember is that iWeb was originally developed for personal websites and nothing else - people without that much technical knowledge of web design who just wanted to get some kind of good looking site up and published with a few photos etc. This is why .Mac and now MobileMe was created so that you have ease of one click publishing.
Apple have improved it with each subsequent version, by including certain extra features with iWeb 09, however, it is still primarily meant to be for personal sites.
iWeb can be used to make some very good looking business sites too and you don't have to host on MobileMe.
iWeb is due another upgrade soon and there is some speculation that as 2010 was missed out as an upgrade the next version might be iWeb 11, so we'll all just have to wait and see what happens. Perhaps January next year and there are rumours that it was undergoing a complete overhaul.

Express to extend network - setup help please

I would really appreciate some help ensuring i have the correct set up for my express (x2)
I have a mac, macbook, sky broadband modem and a basestation
I connect to the internet using the modem and network "sky 13222".
The basestation has a network id as well "af506f", but i dont use this to connect to the network.
The idea for the 2 expresses was to expand my range into a weak reception of the house for one; and to connect my new pannny bluray player with the other.
I have plugged the first one in and it has showed up on the airport utility f9567b, but when i go to configure it suggests switching networks, which i am unsure about the next steps...the guide doesn't help really..
Anyone with a recommended setup for this?
I am not sure the setup was right before the expresses but i could connect wirelessly to the macbook and my wii ok...

Hi, to set up the airport the computer has to connect to it hence "switching networks"
Once you added your new Airport to the your existing network then you should be able to switch back and it may all work!

Re: Photoshop elements 9. Help please!

I have a page cover I'm trying to design. Started it a few weeks ago maybe.
1. How can I get all the layers to show in the edit column so I can alter them?
2. Why don't they unlock if you press the lock, or anything else for that matter! ?
3. I even tried to start over again out of frustration but the new page shows up checkered. How do I get a blank white page?
Thank you! I wish whoever developed this made it more coherent and user friendly! It's so darn frustrating, you get to hate it and regret ever buying it. It's like the developer was not only a foreigner but from a different planet - someone who didn't understand the human brain or how to make something user friendly.
Sorry for my rant. It's just so frustrating trying to get anything at all done without an Elements 9 advanced degree or phd. It's just not user friendly! And by all means something as UN user-friendly as this should come with a manual.

I split this into a new thread since it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the editor busy error.
1. If there are layers they will show in the layers panel. If you saved in a format that doesn't allow you to have layers, like jpg, you don't have any layers anymore, which is why you can't see them. Likewise, if you merged or flattened your layers, they're history.
2. The lock doesn't work the kind of magic you want. (It would be nice.) The lock merely prevents certain kinds of edits from happening to the layer in question. It doesn't mean that many layers are locked into one.
3. Checkerboard means transparent, so that area is blank when you put on another image. It doeoesn't mean you have a checkered background. If you want a solid white background, use the pulldown menu to choose that:

Yes, you can upload directly to FB from Photos but you can only post to your own wall. I want to select pictures from FB so I can post to a group. It's not just FB. Any time I look for that album to attach a picture, the album is not there. If I compose an email and want to attach a photo from that new album, the album is not there to choose from.
