Photoshop Extended upgrade

Can you upgrade from CS4 to CS6 Extended ?

Yes, believe it is same price.  Do before Dec 31 for upgrade prices.  After that you pay full price.  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopextended/buying-guide-upgrades.html

  • Can't install CS4 extended UPGRADE.

Hoping someone here has a solution. I have a retail boxed CS4 Photoshop extended upgrade. When I try to install the upgrade it accepts the CS4 serial then asks for a CS3 extended serial. CS3 Extended is the ONLY program in the drop down box. I don't have and have never had CS3. I did install the trials of CS3 and CS4 and have used them and removed them when I made the decision to upgrade. Clearly something is still hanging on. I have used the Adobe registry tools to remove the CS3 and CS4 installations and still the upgrade is asking for a CS3 extended serial.
I spent 2+ hours on the phone with support and got nowhere. Several days later they called me at ONE A.M. EDT to check to see if I had gotten the program working. The Adobe support team has been beyond useless.
I don't want to have to install a fresh OS to bypass whatever remnants of CS3 or 4 may still be lurking in the registry.
I have fully licensed (2 actually) CS2 CS PS7 for the machines that we have in the office. Running on a Windows Vista64.
Anyone have any ideas or know which registry keys are involved?

I'm not sure what you're looking at, but all three upgrade to Extended options (From: Elements, Standard, Extended) have both Download and Ship a Box to Me as selections for both Windows and Mac.

My personal experience is upgrading from Standard to CS4 Extended and getting a DVD in a retail box shipped to me, and I think this is the same path you are wanting to have taken.
The stickers on my DVD case say:
Serial Number: Photoshop Extended UPSL (followed by the actual serial number)
    DVS/A.PHXS.11.0.WIN.GEN.UE.W/SENSOR (followed by a number 9xxxxxx7)
Are your labels on your DVD case any different?

  • Upgrade CS4 to CS5 design standard - want Photoshop Extended

try as i might i cant find a way of calling a sales agent on the adobe website. i am trying to understand the following:
    1. what is best way of getting photoshop cs5 EXTENDED without the nonsense of being upsold by adobe ...ie i have CS4 design standard and want photoshop cs5 extended. -  do i need to upgrade photoshop individually and at a much more expensive price ( and then in due course each component individually at higher prices?) or is there a way to get photoshop extended in the CS5 design standard suite'
2.. Does lightroom3  actually SYNC to flickr ( or facebook, or picassa) or just transfer?
    3. is there actually a sales number to call for help

No. You do not have a Photoshop license...you have a Creative Suite license.
Unfortunately, Adobe does a pretty poor job as far as this type of information is concerned but as I said earlier, the only way you can get to PS Extended is by upgrading to Design Premium.
I personally believe DP is the best bang for the buck in the whole CS family. I've got an article on my website, http://theindesignguy.com/purchase-advice.shtml, which you may find informative.

  • Photoshop CS3 Extended upgrade to CS5?

Tried asking the online chat to answer this simple question . . .  the person really didn't understand what I was asking.
So here it goes, the complex question of —
Will a regular CS5 upgrade work for a CS3 Photoshop Extended version or not?

    Mylenium,
It was purchased from a big box store the US (years ago) and has a sticker on it saying "Only for distribution in North America."
It is for use in America, and so is my SC3 Extended version currently installed on my computer.
Both versions are for the Mac OS.
The system requirements are not of importance since my computer meets them all. The upgrade box says nothing about "CS3 or up."
The only mention of an upgrade on the entire box is on the side stating — "UPGRADE from an relier version. To install this upgrade version, you must have an eligible earlier version of this product. Before opening this package, check with your reseller about its return policy and your upgrade eligibility, or visit www.adobe.com/go/upgradeinfo for eligibility information."
So, here I am, trying a webpage that doesn't exist anymore and trying to find answers here . . . . .
Will this normal, regular, run-of-the-mill CS5 Photoshop upgrade work on a CS3 Extended version?
Is Photoshop CS3 Extended an "eligible earlier version of this product" for the CS5 upgrade?

  • Upgrade to Photoshop extended cs5

I want to upgrade from Photoshop CS5 to Photoshop EXTENDED CS5 on my Mac.
The problem:  I can go through the whole installation process without any problems. But when the installation is finished and I start the software, there are no EXTENDED functions visible anywhere.
I've repeated the process several times, always with the same results.
Hope very much that someone can help me.  (Adobe won't.  They're all up in the cloud!!!)
    Wamenz

The download is the same one for the Extended and the Standard versions of Photoshop.
It is the serial number that you input that determines whether you see the extended features or not.
Presumable you have a serial number for CS5 Standard.
Your quandary is that Adobe won't help you because CS5 is obsolete and no longer sold.  Therefore you cannot buy a license for CS5 Extended at this time or at any time in the feature.
If you really need the Extended features, you need to upgrade to CS6 or adopt the subscription model with monthly payments  f  o  r  e  v  e  r…       The moment you stop the payments, your software ceases to work abruptly at the end of the month.

  • Photoshop CS6 Upgrade Does Not Recognize CS3 Extended as Qualifying Product

I am unable to install my Photoshop CS6 upgrade because the upgrade does not recognize a qualifying product on my system.  When asked, I enter my current Photoshop CS3 Extended serial number, but the upgrade does not recognize it as a valid serial number from a qualifying product.  I have tried to do a clean install to make sure no other applications were running or in conflict.  My operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, Service Pack 3.  I have an Intel Core 2, Quad CPU @2.66 GHz with 4GB RAM.

SouthCityTim I would recommend contacting our support team so they can validate your upgrade path and serial number.  For the best assistance, I recommend our chat support at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6.  Our chat representatives can provide a personalized experience to resolve the issue you have described.

  • I want to upgrade from Photoshop Extended CS5 to PS Extended CS6 (I do NOT want CC) but have been unable to find this at a sensible price (or sometimes at all). Help, anyone please?

I want to upgrade from Photoshop Extended CS5 to PS Extended CS6 Mac (I do NOT want CC) but have been unable to find this at a sensible price (or sometimes at all). Help, anyone please? This is in UK, btw!

What do you consider a sensible price?  PS CS6 extended is available only when you purchase the CS6 Suite, which is around $1000 for the upgrade from CS5.  PS 6, which is not extended, is about $200, but I'm not sure about upgrading to a single app from a suite.  Adobe used to allow it, but I'm not sure about now.  PS CC and Lightroom 5 combo is $9.99 a month or PS CC alone for $19.99 or the whole CC suite for $29 a month.  The latest CC apps are "extended."

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended Upgrade Problem

I tried to install CS4 Extended Upgrade, and when it asks what previous version I have, the only version that is listed is CS3 Extended. I have Photoshop CS. How do I go about upgrading?
I hope I purchased the proper version, as there is no mention of prerequisite versions on the outside of the package OR on the inside.
I asked Adobe support 3 days ago now and have yet to hear from them, so I thought I would ask on here. Thanks.

Nothing anyone here can help you with. Wrong serials/ installer packages having been sent out to people happens a lot, but only sales can manage such issues...

  • Upgrading photoshop cs6 to photoshop extended cs6

I have photoshop CS6 and I would like to know whether it is possible to upgrade to photoshop extended CS6.
When buying,  the website excludes "I have photoshop CS 6" when upgrading to the photoshop CS 6 extended version.

This path does not exist officially, but feel free to contact sales and inquire about an upsell.

  • Installing Photoshop CS4 Extended upgrade on my Mac Pro. query

Hi all I do hope you can help me. I have just purchased ps cs4 extended upgrade for my Mac. On attempting to install the istall program checks my system profile then asks me for the serial number for the new product. all well up to this point, then on the next page it tells me it cannot find an existing product to upgrade from and asks me to insert the serial number of the qualifying product. I have the full version of cs3 standard on my Mac so i insert the number. Ok so far. on the same page it asks me to choose my qualifying product showing cs3 extended in the box. However when I try to insert cs3 standard I find there is nothing to change to only this one option.  On the adobe website it clearly shows that I should be able to update from the standard version  to extended. Can anyone dvise me. I purchased the upgrade from Apple and I note it is the international version.

Thank you for your Help, just come off the phone to Adobe. I had to put a Challenge code in as it was as you suggest the wrong package only allowing Upg from CS3 Extended. All sorted now thanks to a very patient and helpful Adobe guy.  Have since updated and everything seems ok even though I am on Snow Leopard.
    Thanks again Denis

  • What's the point of Photoshop extended?

Now we can easily get out of the "Extended" upgrade path, many users are asking themselves if they really need Photoshop Extended.
This article may cast some light on the dilemma.

There's added functionality for video, animation, forensics, medical, scientific and architectural workflows. Ignoring them to make an argument that 3D isn't worth the extra cost is convenient but flawed, IMO.
Maybe so, but frankly, does anybody use the features you mentioned? I don't know a single med tec/ surgeon who would use PS for counting cells or measuring x-rays. Their Java applets and special software do that much better and in a way that is really useful to them (aside from the fact, that PS doesn't even deal with all DICOM types to begin with....). And as someone with a strong background in 3D, animation and video, I could say quite a bit about how limited to downright useless some of those features are. As I've written a gigazillion times on my blog and elsewhere, I tend to side with the people who think that PS has lost its focus and tries to do too many things, only to fail miserably in several areas. That is compounded since it seems to me that when you try to solve specific problems, you seem to have a natural talent for opting for the most awkward, rigid and inconsistent solution imaginable such as Repoussé. If I may: A lot of what's going on in PS is based on the wrong assumption that people would be willing to grow a third arm to fix deficiencies of feature A by using feature B and that's where you are wrong IMO. Instead of really offering attractive solutions to potential new users, you are merely targeting users that have at least a passing knowledge of PS and are willing to compromise. And you are doing all this at the cost of not fixing your long standing usability, workflow and performance problems.

  • Can't install Photoshop Extended on Mac 10.5.4 components failed

One of our professors has a brand new iMac running 10.5.4
The machine has 4 GB of ram and Photoshop has never been installed on this system before.
The only Adobe product on the machine is Acrobat 8. (Not the reader - the actual program.) I tried to install Photoshop Extended - not from the Creative suite DVD set, but as a stand alone product that we bought.
The problem is the software will not install. I get the error message that the components failed.
I am in the administrator account.
The installer runs very slowly and then says that of the three components (one being Photoshop) only the shared components installed. The other two failed.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    John

    Routine maintenance is imperative.
I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.
I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.
This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations. Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) seldom helps.; Try it anyway, though.

Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.
If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388
Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large.
    Also, from:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
    NOTE:
There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction. The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.

If you have DiskWarrior, run it regularly too.

  • My adobe photoshop extended CS5 won't save as, what should i do?

my adobe photoshop extended CS5 won't save as, what should i do?

Ditto issue, netbook NB200 Toshiba, trying the higher resolution. It is inconceivable to me that a firm of Adobe's reputation would automatically shut-out a very large section of the market place!
Also, it is a surprise with the hundred's of thousands of programs out there in the world that work just fine on netbooks, that they would not Highlight this issue on the download/purchase page (not hidden in technical specs page); and would also not have an installer that "warns" the user of the deficiency in their system at the beginning - with a clear description of what will/won't work!; Especially when upgrading in good faith from a system upon which it does work:(
In this instance, I was able to adjust the Monitor resoltion to 780 vertical (thank goodness it's available on the NB200 system) - and yes it does work...
I would never had realized this if the google'd search did not come up with this forum. What would have happened if I was travelling without internet connection as a photographer/videographer - which is quite often.
Thanks to the forum for the answer/problem/issue!:)

  • CS5 extended upgrade doesn't install over CS5

Trying to install a purchased CS5 extended upgrade over an installed CS5: DVD loads, and says "CS5 already installed".  I notice that the icon on
the disk doesn't call itself "extended" -- it is as though the disk, though labelled correctly on the box, doesn't actually contain the extended version.
I've tried the "chat" method of help from Adobe -- which is frustrating in many ways -- and they at least claimed that the serial number was correct.  If I
continue the installation, it will, in about a minute, put in a few things, including an older version of ACR, but Photoshop itself is unchanged, and certainly
    not the extended version.
Anyone who has done this successfully, did the icon on the installer call itself "CS5 extended"?
The "chat" helper tried to establish an "adobe connect" session, without success.  I'm very afraid to uninstall my CS5, on which I
depend! -- because then the upgrade installer may say " no product to upgrade!"    Short of another solution, I guess I am
    out my 384 dollars.
Don't know what to do next!

    Steve --
The chat, though it came up quickly enough, was frustrating in that
    a. It was hard to make them understand the problem
    b. Every time I went to do something they suggested, the chat was
lost and I had to start all over again (that's why it was "they").
Finally, I realized that I could tell them the case # so they could
get up to speed.  But they continued to ask the same questions over
again. We never got to any possible solution.
    c. The real issue is that I didn't understand that "extended" was the
same program, so I don't think my problem made sense to them.
I did (with some trepidation) deactivate, and the reactivation worked
fine.  If I had downloaded the upgrade from Adobe, I think the situation
would have been clear, but because I bought a boxed DVD, I assumed that
it was a "different" program, as it was when I upgraded my wife's CS4 to
    CS5.
Anyway, I'm all set now, and thanks again for your assistance and
    suggestions.
