Photoshop fails under Vista with X1600 on MBP

All images in Photoshop display overlaid with crosshatched lines. Adobe points at ATI and says "Known problem: update the video driver". ATI points at Apple and says: "Drivers are supported by the laptop manufacturer". Apple has nothing to say on the matter. How do I ensure I have the most up to date video drivers installed?
System configuration:
MacBook Pro 17" Core Duo 2.16GHz
Graphics card: ATI Radeon X1600
Vista 32 under Boot Camp
Adobe Photoshop CS4
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
good news.
Glad to hear that it helped you.
As for the Mobility Drivers, ATI/AMD (and Nvidia too) only support a handful of notebook manufacturers directly and Apple is non of them.
The 'funny' thing however is, that all needed drivers are in the Desktop Radeon Driver package.
Only thing missing are some lines of code in the .inf file which is needed for installation.
Have Fun

  • Enhanced USB Port Replicator under Vista with blank taskbar

I have an annoying bug where the vista taskbar goes blank under Vista.  I'm running an X300 with the Enhanced USB Port Replicator attached to an external monitor.  I have set the external monitor as the primary monitor.  With this configuration, the taskbar usually goes blank -- i.e. the taskbar shows nothing except a window frame and the start button.  There are no applications shown, no quicklaunch icons, no tooltray icons... nothing.  The taskbar is still functioning correctly, and it will show thumbnails of open applications, or allow you to click on any items that are there but not displayed.  Any idea why this bug is there or how to fix it.
I found it really annoying and problematic till I found an quick workaround... unlock the taskbar and stretch it out and it will begin displaying properly again.

I have an X301 running Vista Business.  The 2 second freezes are really annoying.
Has anyone tried the displaylink driver http://www.displaylink.com/downloads.html to see if it helps?

  • Photoshop cs4 install fails on Vista with registry access error 1406

I've been trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my Vista for a couple of days now.  It grinds for a minute or two then tells me "Installation of the following components has failed:  Adobe Drive CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4"  when I cancel the install and click the "More Information" button, I see this:
    Adobe CSI CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Error 1406.Could not write value AdobeCS4ServiceManager to key \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.   Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
When I go into regedit, I have no problem creating a string value in the indicated key.
Here are some of the things I've tried:
    1) run setup as administrator (even tho I have UAC turned off)
    2) run setup in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode
    3) use the Adobe Support Advisor to track down the error in their knowledge base and followed steps to apply permissions to descendents of the indicated tree
Done lots of googling plus searching of the experts-eschange knowledge base.

Choose Custom during install, deselect Version Cue, Adobe Drive and Acrobat.com. The CSI Service is related to that.

  • Satego P100-491: How to adjust Contrast under Vista with Nvidia 7900 Go?

    Hi
Can somebody help me ? How is it possible to modify the contrast on my new notebook Satego P100-491 OS Vista Nvidia
Gefore go 7900 gs Driver 7,15,10,9748. Following the help goto the Nvidia control panel option display and change the settings but there is menu for "adjust desktop color settings.
    Thanks

    Hi,
with that old XP drivers it was possible, but now.. you can try it with these color settings, but I am not sure if you would have that success.
I tried already to do some things like you (some Contrast, gamma, etc.) but I think they did not implemented that functions at the moment in the Vista drivers.
So, maybe we just have to wait...

  • Legacy program works on XP calling QT5, but fails on Vista with message: ..

    The software is from 1999.
It was developed with Macromedia's Authorware 5.0.
It installs QuickTime 2.12, but on XP I uninstalled that and installed Quicktime 5 -- and the software is able to use Quicktime to display .MOV files.
However, on Vista the following occurs.
If I install QuickTime 5 or QuickTime 7, the .MOV files can be played individually, but when the program tries to display the opening video it states:
Unable to load external movie driver for Intro1st.mov.
Possibly the driver is missing or there is no enough memory.
There is 1 GB of free memory for Vista.
Is there a way to get this working on Vista, just as on XP?
    Thank you.

  • 2710 Xi Back Page Upside Down Under Vista with Duplex

I have seen where "Bob" has helped others with upside down printing on the back page with Vista, using the duplex function.  My operating system is Vista Premium and my printer is a Photosmart 2710 xi.  Can you help me with this same issue?  I am open to someone sending me the patch.  I have sent an email to "Bob" and I am also make this post.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Thanks to Bob Headrick for giving me the patch to correct the problem of upside down (head-to-foot) printing on the back when using my duplexor and Vista Premium on my 2710 xi.  His patch works fine.
I had difficulty understanding the instructions, but my son is a computer guru and used the patch effectively.  It worked!  It is unbelievable that HP doesn't coordinate with Mr. Headrick and resolve this issue for the sake of thousands of HP customers.  Shame on HP and thanks again, Bob.

  • X-fi under vista perfect n

A year ago there was so much problems with vista and x-fi that I sold mine. Since then I have been running 2 computers with Realtek HD under vista with no problems.
But my wife just got a cheap cambridge amplifter (2x40w) and a pair of speakers for her computer. I thought to myself that now she needs a little bit better soundcard to go with that amplifter. And I went and ordered her a x-fi xtrememusic since they are pretty cheap now.
I dont care about eax, cpu offloading or x-fi crystalizer.
She is just going to use it for stereo output to an external amplifter and sometimes swap to headset with microphone. Gonna be used for music, world of warcraft and linegae.
Hope its working fine now under vista? And audio quality under vista is on par with xp right?

It functions. There are a lot of crackling/popping sound issues under Vista, in particular during high-load stuff like gaming, and after resuming from standby/hiberation. However these are purely Vista-related issues. My computer dual boots with XP and Vista, and none of that happens on XP. It'll eventually be resolved between driver and Vista updates. But other than that, it works well and sounds great.
Don't be too quick to dismiss the crystalizer. If your wife plays MP3s, she's going to love it. I have an X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro card, and the crystalizer is great for both music and gaming. It's hard to describe exactly what it does. You have to hear it.Message Edited by karl982 on 02-0-20080:20 AM

  • ScriptListener under Vista

    hi
I have been trying to run the script listener, but I think I have a Vista UAC problem (since the listener writes to the root directory).
Has anybody used the listener under Vista with success, and how?

Yes they are for CS3/CS4 but if running CS2 you would need to create them in the root directory.
    Glad your working ok.

If I am remembering correctly, some changes were necessary in order to make this work with 10.1.2.3. So, if you are using the old jar which you used in previous versions, I would recommend obtaining the one specifically updated for 10.1.2.3. Refer back to the OTN page which has the download and choose the link that references the new version:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/techlisting10gR2.html
Be sure to clear the client Jar cache before re-testing. This is not the same as the browser cache.
