Photoshop file corruption (selections deleted from layers)

I was working on 5 photoshop files today. Photoshop stared previewing one of the files very oddly (when you zoomed in nothing was there).
I saved all open files and quit Photoshop.
Upon opening Photoshop all files had random selections deleted from the layers (please see attached)
I have basically lost a full days work.
has anyone had anything similar??

Yes, I have this corruption issue as well. For me, it is not reproducable (no specific action causes it that I have found), and intermittant (happens inconsistently but not infrequently, maybe once or twice a month out of hundreds of files and working hours). It seems like it more often happens in layer masks first, but once the corruption starts, it shows in layer image data as well. Often it looks blocky like you are seeing, and also as you mention, cached zoom levels don't show the corruption.
I hesitate to call it corruption, but it seems to be the case—once it shows up in an open file, going back in history does NOT undo the corruption, and if you save, your image is screwed. Only way to avoid losing lots of work is to save often and close without saving when you notice corrution, then go back to where you were last time you saved. I have noticed that once you see corruption, you have to re-launch PS even if you close and re-open the file. Otherwise additional corruption will happen almost immediately.
It smells like a RAM related issue, but it's the ONLY issue I have on any of the workstations I use where I've noticed the PS corruption issue, so if it's RAM corruption then it's something PS and only PS does to my RAM. I do a lot of heavy processing with large files, so if I had any bad RAM, I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed by now.
I'm working on files over a local network (nearly always, all day every day). I've had the issue on multiple Macs, multiple OS versions, multiple versions of PS (since CS3, it seems like.) I do use more levels of undo that default but well within available range (100 undos--PS allows up to 1000). And my History & Cache settings are default.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person with this issue. It would be nice to see it fixed.

I used the Database Configuration Assistant to create a database(v9.2) and at a later time deleted the database also using the DBCA. Why aren't the datafiles, control files, logfiles, etc. deleted from the Windows OS files. Doesn't the DBCA delete most of the files associated with the database being deleted. Do I have to restart the Windows OS for the deletion of the OS files to take effect. Thank you in advance.

in advance.Yes, the DBCA is supposed to remove the various files. It sounds like an ownership/permissions problem.

Excel file is not deleting from server

Hello expert,
                   I am creating excel file using jxl and in that file i am inserting table data. now the problem is that file is not deleting from the server.please give some suggestion so that i can delete from server .

Large layered Photoshop files corrupted

Is anyone out there using Mac G5 Quad Processor, working on large 500MB to 1.5MB layered Photoshop files (CS2) and not having any corruption to the files after opening and closing many times?

I tested a file last night as follows:
Sent file via 'Edit with Photoshop CS5' (as PSD 8-bit, sRGB color space) > changed background to normal layer > created circular selection around subject and inverted to remove most of image leaving transparent area (about 70% of image) > saved file > closed Photoshop > file updated in Aperture with black filling in the transparent area.
Resent the PSD back to Photoshop (which opened correctly with transparent area) > created two new layers and sent one to background > filled new background layer with White and left top new layer transparent > saved again and closed Photoshop > file updated in Aperture with white showing in transparent areas (no black).
AFAIK, this is how it is designed to work.
My only other suggestion would be for you to create a new empty library (press Option while launching Aperture > Create New..) and then import one RAW or JPEG file and test.
Note - you can reset Photoshop by holding down 'Command + Option + Shift' immediately after launching Photoshop and clicking 'Yes', then set the 'Maximize Compatibility...' to 'Always' again. Doing this prior to sending the file from new library would probably be best.
Apologies in advance if you have already tried this and for outlining procedures that you are already familiar with (just not sure what level Photoshop user you are).

Selective Deletion from Infocube Only (Not from Aggregates)

Hi,
For the Selective Deletion, i used the FM 'RSDRD_SEL_DELETION' in program. But this FM deletes the data first from Infocube then from aggregate.Because of this, deletion took more time to delete and adjust the Aggregate.
I need an way in which i can delete the data from Infocube only and after i reach to my reconcile period then i will deactivate and actiavted the aggregate, so the data will be consistent in Infocube and aggregate.
is there any to Delete(Selective Deletion) the data only from the Infocube not from its aggregate (for the Performance Point of View)?

If you want to delete data from FM only, then try to deactivate your aggregates before you start your selective deletion.
Once deletion is done, you can reload the aggregates

File present after deleting from gallery file

This problem seems to have multiple symptoms:
I save an image over another image in the gallery, but the original image is displayed.
I delete an image file from the gallery file then save another file into the folder with the same name as the previously deleted then the deleted image is displayed when used.
I delete an image file from the gallery folder then start a new, blank, project and the image file that I deleted is available to use in the project...but the file isn't in the gallery!?
Can someone please help me figure out how to permanently remove these "ghost" files?

Indeed it isn't clear.
So I'm not sure what you are reporting here. It sounds as if you have visited the Gallery in order to delete an unwanted image, no? And on deleting an unwanted image, you create a new project and somehow see it?
For one thing, a totally new project shouldn't be using anything from the Gallery. Now there may be other content that gets added if you elected to use a Theme. Is that perhaps what's happening here?
What exactly are you seeing that you wish to wave goodbye to? A screen shot might help. To add one, use the Camera icon in the web interface to the forums. Don't try to attach to email.

Photoshop file corrupted, can open it but it only shows lines, preview looks just fine

Dear fellow photoshop users,
I got a serious problem.
today I had opened my photoshop file which I was coloring ( a comic page) I allready spend 3days on this comic and I just don't wanne start over .
I was working on it in CS6,
As friends suggested I had opened it aswell in CS5 to try if it works there but no it didn't. I also placed it in AI, but sadly again the ugly line picture shows up .

Yes, the file is corrupted -- you need to check your disk for other problems.
No, it is not likely to be recoverable.

Photoshop file with lots of text layers for Final Cut

I have created a photoshop file with around 20 different text layers. The sizing and the location of the layers is essential.
When my editor imports the file the text layers lose their properties (sizing and placement).
Is there something I should be doing to help solve this problem?
Can you use text layers between photoshop and final cut?

Selective Deletion From Cube and ODS using Process chain

Hi all,
is there any way that i can include selective deletion in a process chain, there is no stand process types for selective deletion, I need to delete the closed items from cube and ods and i need to schedule this??? any ideas?

You can delete Data from this using One custom Program. You need to use either RSDRD_SEL_DELETION(function module ) or RSDRD_BUILD_REPORT_FOR_BATCH(Function Module). there is a parameter in above functioen modules I_THX_SEL which needs to be populated using selections.
or
You need to schedule the Background job from Manage screen on Monthly Basis(Provided that selection should be fixed in every month).
I will update the thread with psudo code.

How do you recover a file that was deleted from iCloud?

I can't find a file I stored on iCloud. I must have deleted it by mistake. I need to recover it.

Sorry, there is no file recovery for files you delete from cloud storage. If you made a local backup then you can restore from it.

File recovery after deleting from trash

I recently discovered I had duplicates of most of my music files, which quickly filled my hard disk. CDs I have ripped were placed into my "Music" folder instead of my iTunes directory, so I started moving most things from the music folder into the trash. I mistakingly selected my iTunes folder as one of the pieces to be moved into the trash, but did not notice before attempting to empty the trash. Due to iTunes still running, I recieved a message saying that the operation could not be completed because certain files were still in use. After seeing that my iTunes music folder was in the trash I quickly moved it back into its original location, but it's now empty.
Is it possible to recover these files? If so, how?

Hi Ryan, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If there is any chance of recovery at all your best bet is Prosoft Data Rescue. There is a free trial to see if it can recover what you need. But don't do another process on that drive until you've downloaded and run it. Also, a service that has been recommended but I cannot personally endorse is DriveSavers.
EDIT: But wait... I don't think your Music has actually been deleted:
Due to iTunes still running, I recieved a message saying that the operation could not be completed because certain files were still in use.
There is a special way of moving your music folder, take a look at this support article. This support article is better.

File cannot be deleted from desktop?

I have an excel file on my desktop named "77B72200" that will not move to the trash! It's driving me nuts and it won't even move into another folder or anything, it is completely unresponsive. I am almost positive that it appeared there when I downloaded the Solver Premium for Mac 15 day trial... however I deleted the program... HOW do I get this file off of my desk top???

You can probably delete it from the terminal. Open one and type the following:
cd ~/Desktop
ls
You should see the file listed here. Note the full name with its extension. e.g., 77B72200.xls or 77B72200.xlsx or something. Make sure you only reference this file in the following. Now type:
rm -rf 77B72200.xls
Or whatever the file name is.
If that fails because, "permission denied," do:
sudo rm -rf 77B72200.xls
It'll ask for your password, so type that in.
I think people blow the terminal and sudo'ing little tasks way out of proportion around here, but for the record: Please make sure you really want to get rid of this file, and that you are only rm -rf'ing the file you want to get rid of. Removing something this way is for the most part not recoverable. The file doesn't go to the trash, it just goes away.

Files won't delete from desktop with folder redirection

I have folder direction set up with a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard x64 Primary Domain Controller and a 2012R2Stdx64 File and Print Server that is the backup domain controller. 1 single user out of 20 can't delete files from his desktop.
Folder redirection is configured via GPO and offline files are enabled.
When you go to delete a file it says "Item Not Found" "This is no longer located in \\HSI-FPS01\Users\My Documents\Desktop Verify the item's location and try again."
However, the item still persists in showing, both in the server folder and the desktop however you can't open it.
There are no sync errors, I've done re-syncs. I've also rebooted, refreshed the desktop, etc.
Any ideas?

Alogorithm to find files added or deleted from a directory since last check

Does anyone have an alogorithm to find only the files that have been added, deleted or modified under a specified directory since a certain time? My directory structure is several layers deep (ie. I'm not just chicking the files in a single directory)
The following code is what I have so far - but it contains too many bugs. (for example, it won't find a file inside a directory that has simply been "pasted" into the mother directory). Can anyone help me with it?

You'd have to keep a list (or whatever appropriate data structure) of files you last saw, and compare and update it with what you see next time. There isn't any magical algorithm - you write it.

What files can I delete from the hidden "Library" folder which is in my account folder?

I'm running out of space on Macintosh HD so I started moving things to my other computer (desktop so more storage). There should only be about 165 GB used out of 750 GB capacity however there is 459 GB used. So, I thought, where's all the space gone? Through using Finder's "Get Info" feature I tracked the 459 GB to Macintosh HD/Users/jacobhouse but in jacobhouse (my account's folder) I've stripped everything to a bare minimum. Amounts of storage used is as follows:
jacobhouse: 409.6 GB (other 50ish thats being used is applications)
Desktop: 142 KB
Documents: 500.1 MB
Downloads: 1.55 GB
Movies: 14.96 GB
Music: 19.02 GB
Pictures: 75.67 GB
Public: 44.4 MB
This adds up to approximately 111 GB if I'm correct in converting KB/MB to GB. Still I haven't managed to find the culprit until I tried showing hidden folders. When I told Finder to show all hidden folders and I sorted them by size, I found one named Library which was 409.6 GB.
As you can see by the Where in the screenshot above, this Library folder is not the one directly in Macintosh HD but rather it is in a User folder. My question now is which of the files in this Library folder am I able to delete to free up space? (contents of Library are below)
