Photoshop Files Not Importing as Sequences

I don't understand why some .psd files import into FCP as layered sequences while others are graphic clips. I'm saving them in PS CS5 with layers enabled.
Thoughts? Thanks.

Hi -
Check if your problem files are set to Image Mode RGB and 8 Bits/ Channel. That's what you want.

  • Multilayer Photoshop file not sequence in FCP

FCP has taken up importing a multilayered Photoshop file as flat picture clip, not as a multitrack sequence (it used to do this : >). How do it get back to importing multilayered Photoshop files as a multitrack sequences? I am using FCP 5.4.1
    Thanks!

    Sorry, one more stupid question:
When you open this clip, do all the layers appear as if they have been flattened in PS, or is it just one layer of the stack?
Now a not so stupid question:
Can you post a link to the PSD file so I could download and try it on my system?
Many strange behaviors in FCP can be remedied by trashing you FCP preferences. My next suggestion would be to do that and then restart the application and see if you have the same behavior.
    Hope this helps!

  • Files not imported because they could not be read.  L5.3 on Mac from SD card in reader RAW photos

Files not imported because they could not be read.  L5.3 on Mac from SD card in reader RAW photos and video visible when card inserted but not able to import.  Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

This message means that you don't have permission to write to the destination folder or disk drive. This is an operating system issue that can be resolved by changing permissions. And you can get plenty of information on how to do that by doing a web search for "change disk permissions".

  • CS3 Photoshop Will Not Import .CR2 Files

I have tried countless updates and cannot seem to get Photoshop to import RAW files (.CR2) into the system. I receive the error message, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this file type"
I am trying to import using the Merge HDR function on CS3 Photoshop, but it does not even do anything  when I click OK on the three RAW pictures i have selected.
Help please. I am using a Canon Rebel T1i
    Thanks

Photoshop CS3 doesn't have support for that camera. You'll either need to upgrade to CS5 or use the free DNG Converter to convert the raw files to DNG files that can be opened with CS3.

  • How do I make Flash use the original Photoshop file, not a .png one?

Hi, this might be kind of a basic question/problem but I can't seem get Google to help me. Since I've recently started out with Flash, I guess I just missed some newbie thing out, still very greatful for help though, since this'll soon be causing a brain hemorrage...
    Ok, here goes:
I'd like to draw key frames in Flash, just simple drawings/skelettons using the pen tool, basically to create the movement itself. After that, I want to export the frames that I drew as images to Photoshop in order to apply texture and colour, and then put them back into Flash again, without tampering with the Flash doc I've already created, since the animation is already done. I want the file(s) that I'm working with to remain the same files throughout the process, from Flash to Photoshop and back to Flash again, like the way InDesign works. Is this even possible?
If this isn't possible at all, I guess the alternative is to draw in Photoshop and then import the drawings into Flash, put them in order and then make any eventual changes after you've created the animation in Flash, this is less smooth though still possible. But here emerges (sort of) the same problem:
When I import images from Photoshop, create animation out of them, and then realize I have to make some changes in the original PS pic file I head back to PS to correct it. But it just doesn't work the way I want it to... If I modify the pic file in PS, then use the "update" alternative in Flash Library, Flash just tells me that the file can't be found, and does not update the image. If I choose the "edit in PS"-alternative from right clicking on a symbol that is in the library, the file opens as a .png file in PS, not as my original file! It seems to me that Flash is creating its own library, not using the existing document. Is there anyway to go around this? How do I make Flash use my PS file which allows me to change it as much as I want (as with InDesign)?
This is driving me crazy, what I'm working on is supposed to be full HD, I can't use a freaking .png file... Gah!
    Very many Thanks in advance!
(If anyone has any suggestion for alternative software, that's also very welcome!)

If you start the artwork in Flash, you are starting with a vector drawing. If you export this art as a .png so that you can edit it in Photoshop, you will be translating the artwork to a bitmap image at a specific resolution. When you edit this .png in Photoshop, you can save it, as a .png, and then import that .png into Flash.
After you import the .png, place it on the stage in a new layer. Position the new artwork over the old artwork. Then throw away the original artwork. Now, when you want to edit the artwork, go to the original file in the movie's Library and select Edit with Photoshop. When you save the file in Photoshop, the updated file will appear in the Flash movie.
If you have Illustrator, you can export your original artwork as an Illustrator file. Then you can open this file in Illustrator, edit it, and save it. Then, as above, import the .ai file into Flash and toss out the original. Now you can edit the original file through the Library in your Flash movie.
Alternately, you could start by creating the artwork in either Photoshop or Illustrator. Then import that art into Flash. Now you have a link to the editor for either file in your Library. This may simplify things.
Working with Photoshop and/or .png files will give you a larger finished file than working with Illustrator files. In either case the finished resolution of the Flash movie will be the computer's screen resolution, 72 ppi.

  • AI file not importing with layers?!

I am trying to do a simple thing and that is import an AI file that contains layers.  When I import into After Effects I get the new Comp and I see just one AI file icon.  I can't figure out why my layers are not coming in.
    Anyone got some ideas?

Ok.  I did a screen grab with a new AI project that only has three layers. I got one grab before Layer release and one after layer release.  I made sure that I am in RGB mode from the FILE pull down and I am in RGB mode.  I tested this AI file with another After Effects project that imported a Photoshop file containing 332 layers (Which all layers imported from that).  After Effects is still just importing one AI file that shows nothing.
    after release:
Does it matter if I created a AI project with the Film Video template with 1920 x 1080 dimensions?  Color Mode is still RGB.  I have tried just making a new AI file with basic RBG setup and still same issue.  I have not tried this on a different computer.

  • Photoshop Layers not importing

    Hi,
I've had this work in the past, a few months ago, but with a new project and a new file I'm not getting any layers to show through in DVDSP 4.1.2. In the info box, it says that the file is importing as a 'QuickTime Picture' and 'Layers: 0'. In reality it is a Photoshop layered file, 720 x 480. I even tried simplifying it and only have 4 layers in it, but still no go. I'm using CS3.
Any ideas? Old photoshop files import with layers...
Message was edited by: Michael Conti

The issue for me was bit depth. DVD Studio Pro only uses 8 bit images. The PSD's I was creating were 16bit. This caused DVDSP to ignore the layers and only display the composite.
Photoshop has added full 16 bit support in recent years so you might not notice that you are working on a 16-bit image.

  • TIFF Files Not Importing!! Help!!

I have a whole batch of Photoshop illustrations (NOT photos) that are in TIFF format. each one is about 20MB each, and for some reason i cannot load them into iPhoto, nor can I open them in Preview.
any thoughts as to why this is? I want to put the drawings together and order a book using iPhoto 5, but obviously I can't get them in.
I CAN convert them to JPEG and they load in fine and look correct, but i'm afraid i'm going to lose crucial color data by compressing them.
Help! any thoughts, solutions, or shoulders to pout on?

I checked the permissions and they are Read & Write - thank you for that advice.
I went back to trace some steps and here's what i'm doing. maybe this might shed light? i don't know for sure:
    1. create the illustrations in Photoshop (RGB)
    2. Flatten the layers, convert to CMYK
    3. Save image on hard drive as TIF with a name like: XXXXX01.tif
    * now here's where a problem begins
    4. i noticed that when i save in Photoshop, a message like, "Some files being saved contain non latin characters, they will be incompatible with some browsers"
    5. the file is saved and can be opened again, without problem, in Photoshop.
I am guessing that perhaps this might have some relation to why the files may not import into iPhoto the way they should.
in retracing my steps, i tried saving these files with different names, as RGB, as .RAW, as .EPS and in as many profile configurations i could think of - all with the same final result: could not import into iPhoto.
I really appreciate the consideration in trying to help me with this. any further thoughts or feedback would be very much appreciated.

  • RAW files not importing correctly into iPhoto

I'm having problems importing .CR2 files into iPhoto. This didn't used to happen with Tiger, so I'm trying to figure out what the issue is. I'm using iPhoto 7.1.1 (354) with Leopard 10.5.1. I previously had 10.4.8.
I'm wondering if it's an issue with networking. Currently, my iPhoto Library is on a NAS because it's big (about 86GB) and I have RAID redundancy on the NAS. The original files are fine, but the imported files (not just the thumbnails) are corrupted. If there's a problem with data transmission, would that show as a data corruption?

    Michael
I don't have a NAS myself and my ignorance of it and networking one is pretty much total. However, this thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1100543&tstart=0
records a discovery by one user using a similar system. It has to do with iPhoto using ':' for temp files and folders, and Samba having a problem with the character.
    Hope that helps.

  • AVI Files not importing into CS4 from DVD

I have the DVD disk for Premiere Pro CS4 Classroom In A Book and all the avi files have only sound and when imported into Premiere Pro CS4 a missing codec error warning appears and the file will not import.
I have to say this problem only occurs with my 27" iMac and not at all with a MacBook Pro or a 20" iMac. I have tried repeatedly to copy the DVD to the 27" iMac but the problem still persists.
*+Now this is the really weird bit+:*
Using Screen Sharing from another mac, the files are normal. All other avi files are also normal on the 27" iMac.
I wondered if anyone can throw any light on this problem?

I tried a different converter and also changed the playback preferences -which was down at 44.1kHz- up to 96kHz as I know the hi res files are supposed to be up at this level.
Not sure if it was one or the other of your suggestions, or both, but it has worked, so many thanks for your quick and effective help!

  • Why do some AVI files not import into iMovie?

Some of my AVI video does not import into iMovie. When I try, it gives me a non-specific error message. Is there a way I can import it? Other AVI files import with no problem.

AVI is a container, not a format; the audio and video in an AVI may use any codec, and some codecs can't be used in Mac OS X. Installing Perian may help.

  • Sound files not importing

I have a problem while trying to import any sound file into flash CS5.5. I have not successfully done it since purchasing the program. I have tried opening the file in a sound editor and saving it, as well as trying to convert to a different sound type that is still Flash compatible. I'm trying with .mp3 and .wav files mostly. The error messages i receive are "Couldn't import C://*file location* or else i get"One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them." I havent figured out a pattern as to why either might be showing or the connection to the file.

there may be something wrong with the mp3. sometimes i receive mp3 files from clients that i can't import into flash. when that happens, i drag the mp3 into iTunes, select the file, click advanced, click create mp3 version. iTunes creates a new mp3 file which i click and drag out of iTunes (which creates a copy of that new file) into my job folder. flash imports the mp3 i dragged into the job folder. then i go back and delete both versions out of iTunes.
note: if you don't see that option in iTunes, go to iTunes preferences > general > import settings > mp3 encoder

  • "Files not imported because they could not be read" from SD card.

Trying to import photos from my disk. Was able to download 2/3 of chosen files. Came back to do the last 3rd, and a message pops up, "The following files were not imported because they could not be read." then listed the file names that were not imported. Thought maybe it was the card, or a fluke. New disk today, same issue. Any resolution ideas

Usually, that error message comes up because the files couldn't be written. Yes, I know, it's weird.
Generally, it's because you are trying to write to a folder or a disk that is protected some way. You need permission to write to that folder, and on Windows 7, you need to have ownership of that disk and folder--running as an administrator isn't enough.
What operating system are you running, and what version on Lightroom?

  • Lightroom 3 Raw Files not Importing

I have a Nikon d3200 and I am using Lightroom 3. My raw files are not importing. Do I need some sort of plugin? Im not sure where to find the plugin on Adobes site...ugh!!! #frustrated

You would need the FREE Adobe DNG Converter (version 7.1 or later) to convert your D3200 raw photos to DNG.  The DNGs will import into Lightroom.
