Photoshop fonts not listed in flash

Hey, I've designed the graphical interface for a website in
photoshop and now i'm trying to create animated buttons in flash.
trouble is, the font i have used to design the site in PS is not
listed in the flash font list. This is the case for lots of
different fonts in PS. The original font was TTF so i converted it
to OT1 and i've dropped a copy into all the adobe font folders I
can find but its still not picking it up. Does flash load its fonts
from a specific folder and if so, does anyone know which? I cant
figure out why both TTF and OT1 versions of this font are listed in
one CS3 app and aren't listed in the other. I've also tried image
drag and drop from PS to flash but it just imports the text as a
gray box. i'm really stuck here, if anyone has any advice i'd be
really grateful. thanks.

In my own experience, Flash takes it fonts from your system
fonts. So you probably need to install the fonts in your system
(Windows) as opposed to installing them in specific applications.
I'm uncertain on this one, so if someone else has better
information to offer, please do.

  • Fonts not nested in Flash Menu

    Hi,
    CS3 flash professional 9.0 (...created 18th Dec 2007)
This is similar to the days of suitcase and Quark, but OSX i
thought these problems were gone. Im using fontbook and every
application works fine, all my fonts are nested in their folders in
the font menu, but in flash they are all loose, and its hard work,
has anyone got this problem or overcome it?

This has come up a lot on here. I thought they might have fixed it in CS4. At least they fixed the problem where fonts would not appear in the list if you activated (using a font management app) while Flash was open. Used to have to restart Flash.
In any case, Flash does treat fonts differently than other Adobe applications. I'm sure someone will jump on here and defend Flash but the truth is in the pudding. Loaded fonts do not always appear in Flash when they show up fine in the other apps.
I hope Adobe gets it together in CS5. Still waiting for them to fix the issue with font baselines shifting in FLA's between Mac and PC.

  • Certain installed fonts not appearing in flash

This has become a pretty frustrating experience. I'm running
XP and have installed 6 .otf fonts, from the Avenir family. Flash
MX 2004 and Flash 8 don't see all but the Light and Roman versions
of the font (they are the only ones that appear in the font menu).
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop display all the fonts, however.
An associate suggested that sometimes Flash doesn't like the
names to be non-standard; in other words, it doesn't like "Heavy",
but prefers "Bold", etc. This seems to support the fonts not being
displayed in the Flash font menu, as they are
    AvenirLTStd-Heavy.otf, AvenirLTStd-HeavyOblique.otf,
    AvenirLTStd-LightOblique.otf and AvenirLTStd-Oblique.otf. The only
two being displayed in the font menu are AvenirLTStd-Roman.otf and
AvenirLTStd-Light.otf ("Roman" and "Light" are pretty traditional
    names).
I've tried renaming the fonts to "Bold" and "italic", etc.,
but Windows still sees the original names. I've tried opening the
fonts in Notepad and changing all references (for example, all
"Heavy" to "bold"), but saving the font file (even if I add and
remove a space) makes it unreadable as a font (security issues, I
    think).
One reason I think it's a naming issue, is I did try renaming
Heavy to Roman, and installed it, and Flash saw it as Roman, but it
had the Heavy characteristic. This work-around doesn't work,
however, as I need Roman, too (and renaming it Roman2 doesn't
    work).
Is there any solution for this? I need access to all of the
Avenir font family, as it's for a branded project that uses Avenir
    specifically.
Oh, and last but not least, I have the fonts installed on my
Mac, and Flash 8 and CS3 both see all the fonts, no problem.

It has nothing to do with font name itself. Also, by the way,
    font being a system component,
can't be easily renamed in NotePad. You will need dedicated
    font editing tool like Macromedia's
    Fontographer.
Anyway, Flash simply does not support some fonts and font's
families. Unlike Other tools you brought
up, Flash is vector based and not catered to handle all kind
of fonts, but specific groups only. In
fact if you deal with more applications, you will realize
that it's a common issue. CorelDraw supports
literally any font, half of which won't never shop up in
Photoshop, then these that show up in photoshop,
half of it won't show up in Flash, and so on. You just can't
use all the fonts and it won't matter
whatever you change their names. It's all about the font and
its outlines and the way it is made.

  • Fonts, not beautiful like Flash???

I've noticed that text captions don't look smooth like text
created using Flash. They are closer to html fonts. I don't know if
it's lack of dithering or what. Does Captivate not have the same
kind of font smoothing capabilities as Flash?

I've found when resizing captions that are bullet lists, you
need to press Ctrl-A to make sure you have everything selected.
Then changing font size will resize the bullet points.
Just highlighting all the text by dragging the mouse doesn't
seem to pick up the bullet points (in Cap 3 anyway).
I think there is a work around to the bullet list/anti-alias
problem. I think you need to add a couple of "returns" at the end
of the bullet points, and then resize the caption so that you can't
see the extras at the bottom.

  • How to search for a font not listed in the Fonts window

I'm unable to create a PDF of an older document built by someone who doesn't work here anymore (so I can't ask how they built it). The PDF starts to generate but it takes longer than usual then right before the last page, it stops and I get a log telling me that it can't generate the PDF because of a problem with a Frutiger-Roman font. We don't use that font so I'm not sure where it would be. Also, when I look in the Fonts pod window, it's not listed.
Is there a way to search a document to find a font that isn't listed in the Fonts pod window?
    Thanks

Sounds like it's coming in with an import, which is probably an image, but could also be a text inset.
I've seen this happen with DWG, DXF, EPS and EPSI imports. I'd expect it to be possible with PDF imports, as well as any formatted text inset.
It could even be an empty string. You can't find any text, but the declaration got triggered anyway.
Most image formats that can include fonts can be opened in Adobe Illustrator. You can then Select > Object > Text Objects and see what's there (or not). If AI throws "some objects have been outlined", you've located the offending file for sure.

  • Photoshop CC not listed in "Programs and Features" of Windows 8.1

Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Bridge CC and Adobe Extension Manager CC are not listed in Control Panel section "Programs and Features" of Windows 8.1. Only Adobe Creative Cloud Manager is listed. I have to install Photoshop CC because the current update failed with error code U44M1P7. The advice of Support is to remove Photoshop and reinstall it because I have no other options to solve this update error.  Revo Uninstaller Pro and  Ashampoo Uninstaller 5 also do not show Adobe CC programs in their list of programs. What can I do to solve this problem?

Moving this discussion to the Creative Cloud Download & Install forum.
Rosgats is Photoshop, Bridge, and Extension Manager not available to be reinstalled through the Creative Cloud Desktop application?  If not then please see CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html.  If it is listed as being available then please install using the process listed in Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.

  • New Photoshop Fonts not showing

mark leroy kilwinning Hi im looking for little help and or advice, i recently upgraded to Adobe Photoshop CS5 but I appear to have lost all my downloaded fonts from the CS4 version of the software, when I had CS4 and wanted to add new fonts I just included them into my mico word and for some reason they popped into Photoshop also, I done this with several fonts I downloaded and used often in CS4,
I thought as they where in micro word then they would not be replaced when updating CS4 to CS5, but they do not appear, i have looked in the woord fonts and they are still avalible to use there, but dont appear in the list of fonts for CS5, is CS5 set up a little different, like to i need to copy the fonts over into a file that resides in CS5, any help would be most appreciated mark leroy kilwinning

    Noel,
You are correct. PS, and all Adobe programs, rely on the "installed" fonts in the OS. Those will appear in the Windows (in this case) Fonts Folder. Now, one may have many other fonts, and they might be either manually installed, or done so dynamically, by a font management program.
Going way back, many Adobe programs did place fonts into folders, usually associated with Illustrator, Photoshop, or PageMaker, BUT though those fonts were stored in the sub-folder (called directories then), they were also installed into the system.
I believe that many Adobe programs do include some OT fonts, with the programs, probably in a Goodies folder on the installation discs, but it is still the same - to be used, they need to be installed into the system, and the easiest way to do that, if one does not use a font management program, is to use Install Fonts from the system's Control Panel.
In my case, I have about 19,000 fonts, purchased over the years (a few freebies, but only a few special ones). I have those stored in C:\Fonts and then in PS Fonts, OT Fonts and TT Fonts sub-folders. Only a very few of those are actually installed on the system at bootup (about 350), but then I manage mine with Extensis Suitcase, so can dynamically install, or uninstall fonts, as they are needed with what that program calls Font Sets, and I have those by client, by use (such as Headlines, or Video Fonts), or even by Project.
If the OP has lost fonts, it is likely that they were accidentally removed from the system.
I do not know the term "micro word," so cannot comment on that aspect.
    Good luck to the OP,
    Hunt

  • OT Fonts not working in Flash, Framemaker

I am using an OpenType version of the Univers Condensed family in a number of applications. It works fine in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, but certain weights of the fonts don't work in Flash CS3 and FrameMaker 8. (We're using Windows XP.)
In FrameMaker, we get an error message stating "Univers LT Std 47 Cn Lt font is not available and will be replaced by UniversLTDStd-Light. However, when we do this, it doesnt seem take and we keep getting the error and we are not allowed to save the file.
In Flash, the problem we have is with Univers LT Std 67 Cn Bd.
Any advice would be appreciated. If I need to buy another version of the font, I can try to do that, although it will make things hard when working with Flash vendors who use Macs.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Chuck,
You'll get a better response if you post separately in the FrameMaker
    and Flash forums.

  • I often get the message "The Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed / Reload the page to try again" but the plugin check page does not list Adobe Flash.

The plugin check page does list something called 'Shockwave Flash." I went to the Adobe site and downloaded and installed the latest version of Adobe Flash but it still does not show up on the plugin check page. I don't see how Adobe Flash can be crashing in Firefox when Firefox doesn't even know that it's installed.

Your System Details List shows the Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0 plugin as installed, so you appear to have the Flash plugin installed.

  • Installed fonts not working in Flash?

Some of my fonts that work fine in AI and PSD, don't show up
in the Flash menu. I asked a friend of mine about it and he said he
had the same issue at times, but had no solution.
Is there a fix for this?
    Thank you!!!

    Hi,
I had the same problem with my new CS4 suite... Some of my
fonts that correctly worked with flash CS3 doesn't appear in the
font list. I can see them in Ps, AI, o inD, but nothing in flash. I
use Font Book on MacPro, Leopard (10.5.6).
    Any advice ?

  • Tahoma font not recognized in Flash CS4

Ok, here is my current problem I wanted to use Cs4 to edit a flash template but noticed it kept saying I did not have tahoma font installed. I checked the font folder and I did have the font installed on the system but nevertheless I reinstalled it which did not fix the problem so I manually mapped/substituted it to the Tahoma I had on my system but noticed the fonts still appeared off when I published. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it still occurs. Do you have any suggestions?

    Right here?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Roger6,
If you are using PS CS6 version 13.1.2 then you are up to date with the latest update for Photoshop CS6 -- http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/03/keeping-photoshop-up-to-date.html
The main other update that it could have been was the Camera Raw update, it's possible that also downloaded and installed.
You could check your ACR (adobe camera raw) version to make sure it's the latest -- 8.1.

  • Fonts Not Available in Photoshop CS3 (Windows 7)?

    Hello,
My desktop computer crashed yesterday and I had to run out last night and pick up a new unit as I'm trying to meet a number of deadlines (and not having much luck getting the work done in my laptop).
The new computer uses Windows 7 as the Operating System.  It has already presented a ton of headaches... I've already spent in excess of ten hours trying to reinstall hardware and dealing with the various quirks that arise.
The latest of these issues is that I cannot seem to access some fonts from Photoshop CS3.  I'm having the same issue, to a lesser extent, in Illustrator 10.
For instance, after downloading the Helvetica and Helvetica Neue families in Windows 7, they do not appear in the Type menu in Photoshop.  There are a ton of useless pre-installed fonts there, but not the ones I installed.  If I try to access them from Illustrator, it displays only one weight of each typeface (for instance, it displays Helvetica Neue 65 but omits 55, 75, 95, etc....).
The issue does not occur for all fonts.  For instance, I installed AvantGarde and it displays just fine.  In that instance, the fonts were TrueType whereas the Helvetica font files are Type 1 font files.
Can anyone help?  I've already lost a day-and-a-half of work, and can't afford to spend much more time screwing around with this nonsense.

    Bill,
Thanks for your thoughtul and thorough reply.
To clarify, I do have a copy of ATM, but just have not installed it on my XP computer or this new one.  It is on my Illustrator 10 install disk.  Not sure if it will work on Windows 7, as Illustrator 10 would not run on the new computer until I set the compatibility to work with Vista and earlier.  I suppose that I could install it and see if it works.  Might be worth a shot.
I will check out the software titles you referenced.
With regard to font installation on Windows 7, there are three techniques as far as I can tell.  They are:
    1) Drag and drop method: Works the same as it always has.  Simply drag the typefaces into the Fonts folder or Control Panel > Fonts.
    2) You can navigate to where a font file is located (the desktop, for instance) and then right-click on it and choose "Install."  This is what I referred to previously, and I tried it after drag-and-drop did not work.
    3) For the third method (according to Windows 7 documentation I found online at http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7desktop/thread/324ecdc6-8574-4527-8099- efc430bf550f), you are supposed to be able to go into the Control Panel > Fonts, press ALT (to display the menu) and then choose File > Install New Font.  You would then be prompted to navigate to the typeface you want to install.  However, this option is not available on my computer.  When I tried it, I can access the File menu, but "Install New Font" is not listed on the dropdown.
