Photoshop History: Adobe JPEG

I have a data supplier that is using a version of Photoshop that writes "Adobe JPEG" files. Apparently these files comply with the JPEG standard but not to the JFIF format. For example, Adobe JPEG files support CMYK JPEG files.
I have reason to believe that Photoshop 2.5 or Photoshop 3.0 wrote these fils. Does anyone know if versions after 3.0 went to JFIF? Did Adobe abandon this format? Exactly when was it supported?
I've searched adobe.com and can't find any reference to Adobe JPEG. These images are causing Java Advanced Imaging (JAI) to do bad things and that is giving us fits.
Most of what I've learned about Adobe JPEG came from the document at URL http://www.fcla.edu/digitalArchive/pdfs/action_plan_bgrounds/jfif.pdf (search for "Adobe JPEG"). Thank you in advance for any responses.
Paul

Paul,
Used all versions except 5.5 and now CS3, but do not recall Adobe JPG. As all my work was for print (until ver 6 time), I only used TIFF, or EPS, so I guess I just missed this. Probably there, all the time, but never used, or saw it. Learned something today - thanks. Though that does not help you with your problem.
I still have ver 4 on one machine for one client's client and a special way of handling Spot Color. You mention 2.5 -> 3, but I'll check 4. I also have all my discs from the beginning, but do not know if 2.5 or 3, will install, even on this stripped-down machine. If they will, I'll see what is in the Save_As drop-down. If you do not find a workaround, and I can install that far back, AND one can convert to TIFF CMYK, I'd be glad to convert for you, into something that you could use. Finding old PS copies and machines to run them might be difficult nowadays.
Last, is my memory correct that ver 3.0 was flakey and one needed the 3.0.1 update to really get the program to run correctly? I probably have all of the PS updates but they'd likely be on old BU tapes. Depending on the type and format of that era's tapes, I may, or may not be able to get to 3.0.1. I could also be confusing versions and updates - been so very long ago in computer years.
If you do not find a solution in-house, or from this board, contact me offline at infoAThuntphoto.com. (obviously, AT=@. Be sure to put Photoshop JPG in the Subject, so I don't blow it away with MailWasher).
Good luck,
Hunt

    salflyfish,
Because Photoshop is an Adobe product you should be asking on an Adobe product forum or calling Adobe for assistance. Also your profile isn't complete but it does indicate you own a Mac Pro, this is an Intel based iMac forum. If you do have a Mac Pro please re-consider posting there. To complete your profile please click Profile Update, by doing so this helps the volunteers know basics about your system such as which version of OS X is installed, the exact model you own, the amount of installed RAM etc.... Without that information diagnosing an issue is much more difficult.

You can't. Any version before Creative Cloud does not support high-DPI displays and that is just that. If you cannot adjust the system's screen resolution and so on, then there is nothing you can do.

I have Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom on my MacBook Pro laptop. I bought an iMac and I'd like to move my installations to the larger display desktop for editing purposes. How can I go about transferring them?

I have the same question. It seems that Adobe is almost impossible to contact (I ended up here at the forums to ask the same question).
I will never buy another Adobe product again if I can get another program to replace it. If this is customer service then it is NON EXISTENT!
I notice that your question has not been answered and why should you have to get the information from a forum? I know of no other company that makes you do this for simple product information.
NOT HAPPY with this version of arrogant customer service (nor am I happy about renting Photoshop products into the future - it is just a money grab in my opinion). I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere in future.

I have tried to insert a jpeg and a pdf signature. Im aware and have used the digital signatures as well. I am bothered that their are no links to research JPEG signature etc. When I did come across a help file pertaining to inserting a clip art, there was no information from Adobe, only a comment to the sender that this might be helpful. this has turned into a love hate search. ADOBE is one of the hardest programs to find information when one is using terms common in other programs such as MSWord etc. Adobe you have got to get your act together you are not user friendly.
