Photoshop icons and menu sizes too small

How do I make CS5 Photoshop in Windows 8 useable?  I cannot make the menu font and icons (like cropping tool) large enough to read and use.  I had our IT people fix the desktop icons (resolution, etc), but there appears to be no way to make Photoshop menues larger.  Even when I open Photoshop the start up blue icon is small.  It is like some miniture program!

You have to live with it. Only PS CC will support high DPI displays in a future update.

  • Photoshop CC icons and text are too small: how to adjust so they're readable? [was: Joanne]

I have just downloaded Creative Cloud on a new computer.  The new photoshop icons and text are too small for me to see or work with.  I cannot seem to adjust this so its "useable"

    Hey Bob,
Ive put feature requests for this in before and I know many others have as well. Is there any way to see if Adobe is actually working on this? I dont really consider this a feature request, it should be standard with the software. A feature request would be something like creative cloud libraries, not the ability to make font sizes and icons bigger.

  • Why are my Illustrator CC 2014 text, icon, and panel sizes too big? It's treating me like an old person.

The photo on the left is Illustrator CC 2014 and the one on the right is Illustrator CC. As you can see the icons and text on the left are enlarged, resulting in less space for the document. I couldn't see anything in preferences about this. Does anyone know how I can fix this? None of my other CC 2014 apps did this... Is it a computer setting or a CC setting?

I don't have CC so I can't test this, but apparently since 17.1 on Windows the illustrator UI scales to 150 or 200% depending on your OS scaling settings. it might have something to do with it:

  • Is the high definition (HD) display of my new laptop the culprit behind my tiny impossible to read icons and menu headers in all my CS5 adobe programs?

The toolbox icons and menu headers are too small to read in all my adobe cs5 programs. I just purchased a new laptop with a high definition (HD) screen and 1920x1080 resolution. So far I tried dropping the resolution to 1680x1050 that does not solve the problem. I went into photoshop preferences/interface and bumped up text size to "large" and that made text in menus readable but not the icons or menu headers. Then it occurred to me, the one thing that is different is the HD display. Does anyone know if that is the reason for the tiny icons and text?  Thanks for your help.

    Hi Gene,
I tried what you mentioned and wow! the icons and menu headers in photoshop are a normal size again.
One other thing I did since my first post, I found a way to bump up the size of text in the display settings of Windows and that fixed readability in most of the adobe products I use ( acrobat pro, illustrator, indesign, bridge-somewhat) but not photoshop. Anyways, thanks for your advice! you have saved me from ruining my eyesight.

  • Icon and menu "Ghosting" & intermittent startup display problems

    Hi all
My Ti is almost 7 years old. 90% of the time it sits on my desk - very rarely moved. Plenty of ventilation and in an air conditioned room.
I have a LG L1780Q digital 17 inch monitor which has been attached for the last two years. My desktop is spread across both screens.
Within the last three months a problem with the display began to present itself - initially it was very intermittent but now the problem is appearing daily.
everything on the desktop like icons and menu bars and dock icons become pasted with a Ghosting approximately twice the width of the icon. The mouse cursor also has a vertical pair of horizontal bars which move around with the cursor.
This problem never effects application windows at all. The bars attached to the cursor remain when hovered over the app - However the application content is not affected at all. So the problem exists only with "desktop" items.
The problem also manifests on both screens. About 50% of the time I can grab an application window with the mouse and drag it all over the desktops and this "wipes clean" the problem - a bit like an eraser. However, in the last couple of days even this doesn't help. 50% of the time a reboot may solve the problem but that too now is getting worse and worse. Also, occasionally on a reboot, instead of the user login window all i get is a series of broken whitish lines against the standard blue background - this is again across both screens. This is obviously the login screen but all scrambled.
Reading the posts here I'm beginning to fear that the dreaded "replace the logic board" phrase may come up
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks.
I love my TiBook - please don't tell me it's dying

    Hi
    Many thanks for your advice.
First, of course you are correct - I bought the Ti in Jan 2003. It just seems like it's been with me forever!
In response to your suggestions this is what happened:-
Disconnected external monitor - problem still there.
Booted from original install DVD - problem still there.
I ran disk repair anyway - it found some errors with the catalog file entries, said it fixed them - problem still there as suspected.
Now the wierd thing - after Disk repair i rebooted from HD without the external monitor connected. After sitting watching the spinning grey wheelie thing on the grey start screen for an hour I decided to leave it and go to bed. I don't know what time it actually booted but an hour seems an inordinately long time?
After reboot - problem still there (pretty bad now).
When i reconnected my external monitor, it auto detected the digital feed, screen came on for a second and then went black. Powering the monitor off and on again produced exactly the same result. If I look closely i can just make out very faintly the desktop content on the blacked out external monitor - as though the backlight has failed! Powering off and on does the same thing every time - 1 second of full brightness and content then black!
    BOOHOO!!! is my Ti dying?
Unfortunately I don't have the Apple Hardware Test CD.
Should I sit down in anticipation of the verdict?
    many thanks

  • No cursor on any website, and boxes are too small to type username and password. Example I can't type username and password for yahoo e-mail

Example of no cursor. Any website, such as youtube, there is no cursor in the box, and there are no letters when I type, but the system recognizes what I type. As for e-mail, hotmail works o.k., but with yahoo the boxes for username and password are too small, there is no cursor and I can't type anything. With gmail, there is no cursor, but I can type my username and password.

  • Photoshop Font Sizes too Small on High Resolution Screen

On my Toshiba Satellite P55T 4K the Photoshop fonts and tool menus are so small that they are very difficult to read.  I have set the UI fonts to the largest size, but they are still way too small. Is there a way to further increase the font and tool menu sizes?

You must have a very high resolution screen, also called HiDpi.
If you have Photoshop CC 2014, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Experimental Features and checkmark "Scale UI 200%"
If you have CC, CS6, or below, there is no way to scale the UI as of yet. There may not be. These products are no longer being updated.
At best I can recommend reducing the resolution down to around 1400 px horizontal. That's not the native resolution and defeats the purpose of having a Hidpi screen.
So only thing left aside from returning the laptop, is to work with a large external monitor, or for $10/monthly, join the Photography Plan and you can use CC 2014 and the 200% UI.

  • I cannot change the font size on firefox. Works on other browsers but not on FF and writing is too small. Ctl+ works but its a nuisance each time

Have windows 7 but even on Vista the fonts on FF are too small and I cannot change the size.

You can use one of these extensions to adjust the default font size and page zoom on web pages:
    * Default FullZoom Level - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/6965
    * NoSquint - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/2592

  • How to increase toolbar icon and text size on new pc

I just purchased a new laptop and with the new screen resolution, the icons and text on the toolbars, menu and address bar are small.
I was wondering it there was a way to increase the size of all these things?
I tried changing the screen resolution on the laptop but any setting other than the native display setting causes everything to be fuzzy
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I installed firefox on new laptop

    Hello Tony.
I see that you are using Windows 7. Windows 7 (and other versions of Windows) have accessibility tools that will let you change the scale of the image. This will have an effect on all applications, not just Firefox. Contact Microsoft for help on that.
In any case, you may have luck if you search for a specially made theme: [http://addons.mozilla.org/ addons.mozilla.org]. I doubt it will look pretty though.

  • System Font Size Too Small

I just received a new 15 inch powerbook today (Dec. 2005). It has increased screen resolution with respect to the previous model, but I think the default font size (i.e. top menu bar, safari window bar font size) is noticeably smaller than the older powerbooks. The problem is you can't adjust this - in Finder - show view options only controls the desktop icon size and font sizes. In safari you can make the page text bigger, but not the font size of the window. There is the Zoom option in accessibility, but I really only need a small global font increase. Does anybody know a work-around?
    thanks
    Trevor

    Download and use TinkerTool.
Thanks - but it said something like "this is not adjustable" and asked to click an "understood button". Subsequent system font adjustments did not do anything. It looks like the adjustability varies for different OS X releases...

  • Open file/browse-file dialog window size too small

It seems like the size of the "Open file" and "Browse file"-dialog windows have become too small to use efficiently.
I'm not sure if this is related to the latest updates from testing, but it wasn't like this before. I have to resize the dialog window every time in order to be able to select files and folders.
The changes are not saved across the same session of a program, but it does result in unpredictable behavior in gedit.
If I resize the open file dialog, then close the dialog, then open it again, the changes are sometimes preserved, but not always. Sometimes it's small and sometimes it's resized, and there's no way of telling.
I'm running compiz-fusion and emerald, but the bug is not related to window manager, as it's the same with metacity and openbox. So it's for all GTK programs.
When I try to run gnome-appearance-properties, I get:
"Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager."
and the problem remains no mather what GTK theme I choose.
Is gnome-settings-daemon responsible for this kind of behavior?

The issue was resolved by updating all to gnome-desktop 2.24 from testing..

  • Font size too small to read in safe/boot mode

I'm posting for a friend who has vision issues. He's attempting to do the clean installation on his 2012 MBP with Mavericks. Basically he's having some trouble reading small font size in the Startup environment with the bootable Mavericks (and likely next steps once the installation is completed). The shortcut command for Zoom in is disabled (which Accessibility or certain shortcut commands obviously is/are disabled in this environment) and can't find a way to change the screen resolution in order to enlarge the size of the screen and font size. Any suggestion to remedy this case?

Here are a couple of workarounds until Apple finally fixes iCal.
You can go to print, choose medium or big, then preview. Then click the middle orange button on the original iCal page to make it disappear. Print Preview will remain, and for me "Big" in preview produces a perfect, visible size. AND YES YOU CAN EDIT IT... but only in Preview. This is now a Preview document, so you can go to tools, annotate (or do the keyboard shortcut), click the annotate icon at the bottom and add items to the Preview Calendar. They won't go into iCal software, of course, but for reminders for the current month they'll work fine.
This works especially well if you have an extra monitor, set the screen size to large, and pull iCal or your Preview over to it and leave it there. I leave Mail and iCal Preview up on the extra monitor.

  • Font Size too small to work with

In the code view, the Font Size is too small to work with and the zoom in/out and magnification are grayed out.
How do I increase the font size so I can see what I'm doing?
    Many thanks!

Edit > Preferences > Fonts > Code View.
HINT:  If you switch between Western European and Unicode, be sure to set-up font-sizes for both.

  • Error -200609 occurred at DAQmx Write: Selected Buffer Size Too Small

Hello, I'm writing some simple test VI's that I will eventually build upon to make an externally clocked analog output VI. I started with a very simple program to output finite samples using the onboard clock with the DAQmx Timing.VI. When I run the program, I almost immediately get an error. The error message is below.
Error -200609 occurred at DAQmx Write (Analog DBL 1Chan 1Samp).vi:1
    Possible reason(s):
Generation cannot be started, because the selected buffer size is too small.
    Increase the buffer size.
    Conflicting Property
    Property: Output.BufSize
    Corresponding Value: 1
    Minimum Supported Value: 2
    Task Name: _unnamedTask<1C>
I have used DAQmx VI's before in similar applications and never encountered this error. Additionally, I read at the link below that DAQmx Timing.VI should be generating the buffer automatically. Any ideas as what could be causing this?
    Specs:
    Windows 7
    Labview 2012
    PCIe-6353 as DAQ board
Below is a picture of my block diagram and the VI is attached.

Oops. Just realized my very silly mistake: I forgot to add the Start Task VI. I did so and it works as designed.
