Photoshop & Illustrator refuse to open

After visiting the Apple for help getting Flash to work on my mac (after years of unsuccessful attempts of my own), my Creative Suite refuses to open. The error message reads "Configuration Error, Please uninstall and reinstall the product".  I have no access to my disks because I'm on an extended trip with my family, but need to continue working while I'm away. How do I get it to operate again without the install disks? I've had no problems over the past 3 years until now.

  • I just updated my Mac OSX to Yosemite. I'm using PS5.1 extended. I've dl'd and installed the Java update, as recommended, but Photoshop still refuses to open. HELP!

I just updated my Mac OS to Yosemite. Every other program is working fine, but not Photoshop. I've tried everything mentioned in the forums, including updating the JAVA program, a restart and still PS will not open, giving me a "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has just occurred. Photoshop will now exit." warning.  HELP! I rely very heavily on this program and my attempts to obtain help from Adobe have been utterly futile.

Reinstall Photoshop CS5 to replace the files damaged by the MacOS 10.10 installer.

  • Photoshop Elements refuses to open

I've had PSE, version 6, on my PC for over a year but tonight it locked up. When I closed it down and tried to restart it, it stopped when it came to the line 'Reading Workspace Modes'. When I click on 'check online for a solution' for solution nothing happens. View problem details merely brings up the following info. Any ideas?

  • CS2 - Help won't open in Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive

    Hi,
I am unable to open the help center in Creative Suite 2 for Photoshop, Illustrator, and GoLive.
After I click help, or press F1 to open help, I see the help program appear as a button on my Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen. But if I click on it to open/switch to help, nothing happens. It's like the help center is "invisible".
I have tried renaming my prefs file to see if a new prefs file would fix it. It didn't.
It seems like this is a problem I had with the previous version of these programs, too. (I think that was Photoshop 7??) I had fixed it in that version, but can't remember what the fix was. I can't seem to find this problem in the forums or support either.
It's driving me crazy!! Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

The help (zip) files are still available:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=319210&sliceId=2
While this addresses an issue that CS2 users (including myself) have experienced, I'm not convinced that Natalie is having this particular problem. She doesn't mention getting the "CS2 product not installed" message.
    >"the help program appear[s] as a button on my Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen . . . It's like the help center is "invisible"
Could it be that the help window is simply positioned off-screen?

PS: If a window is offscreen, press Alt+Spacebar, M (Move), and use the arrow keys to move the window into view.

  • When Firefox is open the zoom function (option/command/space bar) does not work in Adobe programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

    Mac OS X 10.6.7
    CS 5.5
When Firefox is open the zoom function (option/command/space bar) does not work in Adobe programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). This happens only when Firefox is open and when I close it the zoom functions work fine again without having to restart the applications.
This is intermittent but happens quite frequently each day if Firefox is active.

MDN doesn't mention -chrome being used for ordinary web pages: https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Mozilla/Command_Line_Options#Chrome
    When I use
    firefox.exe -chrome about:permissions
I get a usable window, but zoom doesn't work as you noted.
How about using an intermediate page and window.open() for the target page? You can (mostly) restrict the chrome of windows opened that way, but it will leave behind the intermediate window...

  • Photoshop 7.0 Refuses to open

Photoshop 7.0 Refuses to open after working fine on Windows 7 PC. Reinstall doesn't help.  Has worked fine for years.  This is completely random and very frustrating.  ImageReady is installed with it and opens fine.

What happens when you try to open ps 7, such as an error message or hanging on a particular part of the splash screen?
Resetting the photoshop 7 preferences might clear things up:

This is what pops up when Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign are opened.

Smsbc was Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign installed using the custom installation option in Master Collection?  Have you tried de-activating your current license to reapply the Master Collection license?  You can find details on how to deactivate at Activation & deactivation help - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html.

  • Help premiere keeps refusing to open the file im working on!

it encountered a "serious  error" then refused to open the file again. premiere opens like normal, then asfter i click on the file to open, it asks me where a certain audio file is, then before i can do anything the dialog box crashes, and the file menu no longer lets me access anything, is all deselected, and light gray... HELP! i have a big project due monday with over 80 hours into it. i CANNOT start over!!

I am running OSX 10.9, i have installed all the updates from apple and adobe. I'm running Premiere6.0.5, I'm not using an external drive.  I deleted one audio file out of the project, but saved immediately after. I also keep getting a message telling me that,"we're sorry a critical error has occurred..." and the program crashes.  I cannot take a screen shot of the dialog box because it keeps crashing so fast i can't even click on anything before it's dissappeared.
Several of the adobe programs have similar problems after I updated to OSX Mavericks 10.9.... point being I cannot work like this, and seems like adobe isn't doing anything to fix the crashing save and import dialog boxes  in Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop. it's really frustrating trying to work when you can't import or save!

  • Photoshop CS2 won't open...

I'm using a Mac G5 with the adobe creative suite 2 standard.  Since yesterday Photoshop has not been opening.. I click on the icon, it bounces up and down once then doesn't do anything else.  I don't know if its crashing or what... but all my other programs are working.. Illustrator, etc... now, I have not tried reinstalling the creative suite yet because I am not sure if I am going to need a pin number to install the programs again... I have the serial number that is on the box...but no registration number or anything like that.  So I'm just being cautious... don't want to uninstall and then not be able to reinstall the programs.   I think maybe any registration number might stay in the computer so long as the hard drive is not re formatted or anything like that.  I am the artist for a small screen printing factory and need Photoshop and illustrator to be able to do my job.  If this has happened to anyone else and you know of a way to fix it or any other possible solutions please help me out.
    Thanks
    Adam

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion, it did not work, but I have reinstalled the program without any problems and everything is working again.  Thanks anyway dude.
