Photoshop is leaving shadows on my screen

I have an issue where in photoshop, opening a menu and clicking on something like, File > New or any other option, will leave a blue shadow on my screen, of that menu item. It persists over every program until I restart the computer, even if photoshop has been closed. This has only happened in the last week.
Is this an issue with photoshop, or is it my computer?

System type (Mac or PC)?
If PC, video card type and display driver version?

  • Whenever I leave the main VI screen, the data is no longer able to be read.

I have a VI that I have used on and off on a test stand of mine for a year and a half. Yesterday, I ran it for the first time in about a month, and the VI had developed a peculiar problem. Whenever I leave the main VI screen and go back to it, data is no longer able to be read. By "leaving the main VI screen" I mean bringing up another Windows program into the foreground, or switching to the diagram screen of the VI I'm running, or even using one of the buttons on the main VI to bring up a sub VI screen. If I stop and then restart the VI, then everything is fine again. All data is read perfectly for hours on end until I leave the screen and then it goes nuts.
    I actually ha
ve 4 boards that are being read by the program, and all of the inputs from one of the boards go haywire in this way. The inputs from the other three boards are always fine, and all inputs from the one board always aren't. The inputs include both pressure transducers and thermocouples. I also want to stress that the program worked fine for a year and a half until yesterday. Now, it doesn't. The board that has problems is an SCXI-1102, if that makes a difference, but I really get the impression that it is a software problem.
I originally thought it might be that the sub VIs had been changed in such a way as to not allow them to close properly except that the problem persists even when I simply switch back and forth between the diagram and front panel. In this case, I haven't touched anything in the program! I also thought that there might not be enough disk space on the computer, so I just cleared 100 Meg off my hard drive yesterday, but the problem persists. Does this problem
    sound familiar to anybody?

Interesting. I thought about posting the same answer, because I, too have had the same experience with video drivers. I wasn't sure if this was a problem that anybody else was having, but evidently it is.
If you dig deep down into LabVIEW manuals, it does make a suggestion to drop the colors to as few as you need. My driver was having problems with 16 million colors, so I dropped it to 256. All my problems disappeared when I did this, too.

Hi I dropped my iphone 5 in water last night, it is working but has shadow over the screen how can I get this fixed?

Probably too late to do anything but replace the device at this point.
Once electronics get wet, the best thing to do is turn it off and put it in silica gels packs or uncooked rice for a minimum of 72hrs.  Only then should the user attempt to power the device on.

  • Photoshop CS6 Renewal Problem -- Infinite Subscription Screen?!

So, recently I had a problem with credit card fraud. I got a new card, therefore, I had to change my credit card info on my creative cloud subscription. I renewed (changed) it probably around 2 and a half hours ago. And it said I didn't have any problems. And when I go to "my account," it says that my subscription is valid until March 2014. I then tried to get into Photoshop and the "Renew Your Subscription" screen popped up. I hit the "Try Again" button, and it goes to the next screen saying that my subscription is renewed and I am free to use my product. I then hit the "Continue" button in order to, you know, continue, yet it jumps back to the "Renew Your Scubsciption" screen. It continues to do this infinitely (I've waited at least 15 minutes, like the screen suggests), and I'm not sure how to get my products to work? Thank you to anyone that can help

I have windows 8 and just downloaded photoshop CS6.  Why is my screen flashing when using tool and keyboarding?

It's a common problem with Windows 8.  You need to update your video card driver, from the card maker's site.

I have a 16" mac book pro. The bottom of the Photoshop image window is below my screen view. I cannot shrink my Photoshop window!   I tried changing the Display what else can I do?

That was true for many years...but not anymore. Adobe started allowing window resize from any edge (not just any corner, but any edge) a couple of versions ago, on the Mac, to match Windows. On top of that, in OS X Lion, Apple itself now allows window resizing from any edge in any application. That said, even in Lion, I noticed that I had to move the Photoshop CS6 window edges away from the monitor edge before I would get the double-arrow resize pointer. Not sure if that's a bug. Here's a picture of what Photoshop window resizing looks like:
Also, if resetting workspaces doesn't work, you could try a complete Photoshop preferences reset. Start Photoshop CS6 and press Command+Option+Shift, and a reset dialog box should come up. Click OK.

  • Does the keyboard leave smudges on the screen?

    Hi All,
I just got a new 15 inch MBP w/ Retina display.  I'm wondering if I need to place a soft, thin cover on the keyboard to prevent the keys from leaving smudges on the screen?  When I got my first laptop many, many years ago, after a few weeks I noticed that the keyboard started to leave smudges on the screen because the keys would make slight contact with the screen when it was closed.  Ever since then, I've always placed a thin protective cover between the keyboard and screen every time I closed my laptop.  I did it with the above mentioned Dell and with my first 17 inch MBP.  Now that I've got this new 15 inch MBP, I wonder if I need to continue that OCD habit...what do you think?

The only thing I can tell you is to test it!  If there are smudges, use the cover that came with the computer.

  • Remove drop shadow from "window" screen shot

Is there some code I can input in the terminal window to remove the drop shadow from a screen picture of a window (⌘-Shift-4 + press the Space Bar)?
I know I can use ⌘-Shift-4 and use the cross hairs and that gives me a picture with a clean edge (no drop shadow), but I have dozens of screen pictures to take of a website in safari and I need every shot to be the same size; the (⌘-Shift-4 + press the Space Bar) mode guarantees every pic will be the same.

Download the free utility [TinkerTool|http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html], and click the General tab.
At least in my Snow Leopard system, there is a checkbox there for "Include shadow when capturing window." If you also see this, uncheck the box and then log out and log back in.

  • 24" iMac screen starts to leave shadow

See http://www.flickr.com/photos/machilus/4671862089/sizes/l/. This started to happen like a month ago. The screen seems to disfunction and can't display what I have done with the mouse. Is it possible the LCD is dying or the graphic card is out of order? Does fixing this problem cost a lot?

    Could be the graphics card.

When I click on a drop down menu, such as one to find properties or to copy/cut, the shadow is left on the desktop.

That's a little more than a shadow! Regardless, let's try to reload your display driver. Given what's happening, go into 'Control Panel - Programs and Features' and uninstall any ATI software you see there. Then, go into Device Manager by clicking on 'Start' and then typing in   devmgmt.msc   and click on that file. Next, click on the arrow beside 'Display adapters', then right click on the 'ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics', and click on 'Uninstall', then click 'OK' to confirm uninstall.
Then download the appropriate driver to your desktop and double click on it to install. If you are still running Vista install the Vista driver, if you are now running Windows 7, install the Win7 driver.

  • Images leave shadows behind

My Apple 17" Studio Monitor has suffered a breakdown.
The major symptom is that it leaves traces of previous images on the screen after that image has gone. Also the display seems like its a photo negative, blacks coming out as whites but colours being ok. The longer a window remains on the screen the stronger the resulting trace it leaves.
Also it only happens in certain parts of the screen, mainly the centre.
Is this a dodgy inverter board??

Doesn't really sound like YDB if the background is white....
Did you apply a drop shadow or some other effect, perhaps, without meaning to? It wouldn't be difficult to have made drop shadow a default for all objects you add, for example, by clicking the drop shadow button on the control panel when no object was selected.
