Photoshop Just Quit
I have the whole Adobe CS4 Web Premium installed on my computer. This product has worked flawless up until today. Now whenever I try to open Photoshop I get to the point where I can open a new project and as soon as I start doing anything the systems tells me that it has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.
I called ADOBE to try to get help (that was a joke) and they directed me to a troubleshooting article. I was told that I needed to perform all 24 steps (6 pages in all) and that if it still does not work to call them back.
Well, needless to say none of the suggestions from their "book" helped correct the problem that I am having.
If anyone has an ideas on where I can start to correct this problem I would be most appreciative.

PS, AI and InDesign are pretty forgiving about fonts
I can't say much about Illustrator and InDesign, but Photoshop is extremely sensitive to badly made or corrupt fonts.
This forum is littered with such problems and the standard advice is to remove the offending font. If it is not known which one is causing the problem, the only way is to move out all fonts other than system fonts and add them back in batches until the problem re-occurs. Carry on narrowing it down until the guilty party is identified.
Two pieces of good advice:
- Don't install thousands of fonts, especially free ones.
- If you do need a large number of fonts for your work, use a font manager.

Twice Today Photoshop CS5 Just Quit During a File - Save As
I've been doing a lot of raw image processing today with Photoshop 12.0.4 64 bit.
On two occasions, after having opened an image through Camera Raw, working on it in Photoshop proper, then attempting a File - Save As so as to save the PSD, Photoshop just quit. Disappeared. No error, no warning, no nothing, not even in the Windows Event Logs. Kind of a PIA when you're finally happy with an image and it dies when you try to save it. I know I'm not the first to report this; I recall discussing exactly this issue with someone else a few months back.
I narrowed it down to EXACTLY what I was doing in both cases when it quit:
I had chosen File - Save As, and gotten the Save As dialog on the screen.
The default folder wasn't where I wanted to save, which in both cases was C:\TEMP, so I typed exactly the following characters, replacing entirely the filename shown:
C : \ t e m p \
It was instantly upon typing the second backslash in both cases that Photoshop left the building.
When it DOESN'T quit, this is the exact point where normally the Explorer dialog puts up a list of files in that folder, as shown in this screen grab:
Notably I have a LOT of files in that folder. I haven't cleaned it up in an age, and I guess I should do so on the chance that maybe the list is just so long that someone didn't allocate enough space internally...
Here's a detailed edit log from the second quit: http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/ForumPosts/PhotoshopQuitLog.txt
I'm not sure whether it's just the number of files in that folder, the large number of images I'm processing today, something specific I'm running (e.g., HDR Toning), or something that's recently changed that's causing this (for example, I installed ATI's Catalyst 11.9 day before yesterday).
I'm going to reprocess the same image again, and I'll probably do substantially the same things. I'll add more info to this thread if I see it again.
-NoelBah, no more than I typed the above, than I specifically tested the exact same sequence and reproduced the problem again. This was a relatively short editing sequence.
Notably the current folder the dialog was open to as I was typing the path was the one from which I opened the file, which contains rather a lot of raw image files. The dialog wasn't showing any of them because the default filename was file type .psd, which didn't match any files in that folder, so while your thoughts about FastPictureViewer maybe working on thumbnails could possibly be pertinent, it seems less likely.
I'm going to try to nail this down to a reproducible set of steps. Notably, one thing I'm sure I did in all 3 cases, which I don't often do, was a Crop with Perspective checked (and corners moved).
Another thing I did was Image - Adjust - HDR Toning. I just tried again without doing that and no quit. Unfortunately, I did HDR Toning and still no quit.

I have a iMac and i just updated the computer to Yosemite. I have Photoshop CS5 and when I try to print under print size --- manage custom size , photoshop unexpectedly quits every time. I updated the printer drivers (epson 9880) uninstalled and installed all the drivers. restarted computer and it is still doing the same thing. Cant find any costumer service here either except forums.
I have exactly the same problem - Whenever I go to Print, the print widow appears, it thinks about it for a bit (rotating symbol) and then quits.
This is the beginning of the problem details, cut and paste. It goes on much longer than this:

I don't know the reason for the crashing, but If it's worked so far, I would be looking for an explanation elsewhere than that I've been lucky until now. Suddenly becoming "unlucky" doesn't seem especially precise.
Andrewrob: Just a guess, but you might try running this command in Terminal (in Utilities) to rebuild the dyld shared cache. Copy/paste, don't type.
sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force
If you've never run sudo, you will get a warning, then be asked for your password, which you won't see on the screen as you type. Hit enter. Wait until the $ sign prompt returns, type "exit" and quit Terminal.
Restart.

Photoshop keeps quitting unexpectedly
photoshop keeps quitting unexpectedly even though its up to date. what can I do about it?
Due to the current unavailability of clairvoyants and mind-readers in the forum, we respectfully request you supply sensible, complete details.
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that because this is boilerplate text, not all points may apply to any given, specific poster.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

Photoshop CS4 quits responding when using 3D
Photoshop CS4 quits responding when selecting new texture in materials section under opacity in 3D. I have not had this happen till just a few weeks ago. It was working just fine. I run an IMac with 2 gig of ram. My graphics card is a ATI,RadeonX1600.
Ok I have tried turning off OpenGL and it seems to be just the Opacity, but it still locks up even if I just raise or lower the opacity level or pick new texture. By the way I called apple tech yesterday and they offered to roll me back to previous update but if anything occurred as a result of it, it would cost me $49.00 per incident. The tech also said that adobe needs to be the one with an update for the problem. Man what a mess. Well that all being said I will just have to use my MacBookPro for my 3D work. I have no problem with Photoshop on it. How do I get Adobe to do an update for the problem.

Photoshop CS quitting after 10.4.6 upgrade
Since upgrading to 10.4.6 Photoshop CS quits every time I try to open it. It goes through the usual process of installing drivers/plug-ins etc and then quits when it gets to the 'Building TWAIN menu lists' stage. I have reinstalled the 10.4.6 upgrade using the Combo version on the Apple website and have repaired disk permissions.
Unlike other people who have reported problems with CS2 after 10.4.6 I am not on a network but am working locally with approx 20GB free space on my HD.
Have just removed and reinstalled Photoshop (and then repaired permissions again) and the problem is still happening.
Any ideas?Summary:
Group Logic has determined the cause of the Photoshop crash that occurs when saving file to an AFP server from a Mac OS X 10.4.6 client. Photoshop appears to be using an older Carbon call that creates and retrieves Mac OS 9 comments instead of the Mac OS X comments stored in the .DS_Store file. Mac OS X 10.4.6 changes how those older comments are handled which triggers a crash in Photoshop.
Details:
The following is a summary of the actions which cause Photoshop to crash:
Copy a Photoshop file with no comments to the server
Open it in Photoshop
Save it in Photoshop
Photoshop will request the OS 9 comments from the server
Server returns “no comments” because they don’t exist
Photoshop writes comments to the server, usually over 128 or 200 characters (depends on what file format is used)
Resave the file in Photoshop
Photoshop will request the OS 9 comments from the server
Mac OS X Server returns “no comments” whereas ExtremeZ-IP, SFM, Helios and Mac OS 9 return the actual comments
Save completes to the Mac OS X Server or crashes on all other AFP Servers.
The AFP 3.1 specification supports comments of up to 199 characters. In addition we found that AFP 2.2 in Mac OS 9 personal file sharing allows comments of up to 199 characters. However servers running Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4 do not permit comments over 128 characters (this may be true in earlier versions of Mac OS X, but we did not test them).
These are the facts we were able to determine via packet traces and standard testing:
1. If a client wants tries to add an OS 9 comment that is greater than 128 characters to a file on a Mac OS X 10.4 AFP server, the server will return success but not modify the existing comment. The server simply ignores the request.
2. Photoshop will not crash if an AFP server returns OS 9 comments that are less than 128 characters
From this evidence we have come to the conclusion that Photoshop incorrectly assumes that OS 9 comments cannot be larger than 128 characters. Since the 10.4.6 upgrade it appears that the OS X client will correctly return to Photoshop the entire 199 characters of the Mac OS 9 comment. Since ExtremeZ-IP and most other AFP servers conform to the AFP spec they do send the full 199 characters allowed. Upon receiving the comment from the AFP server, the Mac OS X 10.4.6 AFP client will pass the comment to the Carbon File Manager, and it in turn to Photoshop which will then crash.
This is not seen when saving to the XServe, because it never creates comments if they exceed 128 characters. Therefore the change to the AFP client in Mac OS X 10.4.6 would not affect Photoshop when saving to an Xserve.
Fix:
Although ExtremeZ-IP is following the AFP 3 specification, Group Logic will release an ExtremeZ-IP hotfix next week that will workaround the issue. In order to have the least impact on any other applications, we will add an optional setting called PhotoshopCompatibleComments. When that setting is enabled, ExtremeZ-IP will truncate all Mac OS 9 comments to 128 characters. That will prevent the bug in Photoshop from being triggered until Apple or Adobe fix the issue. -
Photoshop 11 quits when I try to choose a media type
Photoshop 11 quis when I try to choose a media type from priner settings on my new macbook pro. I am using an Epson RU2000 printer, and do not have this problem on my old macbook pro.
With my photo open in photoshop elements 11, I go to file and print. Either page set up or just print both take me to printer settings. Then, to choose the correct paper, I click on lay-out and then printer settings. Media type is the option I'm looking for, and it has something written over the top of it that I can't read, but I need to clik on media type to choose my type of media (presentation paper, plain paper, photo paper--glossy or matte, etc.) When I click on it, it just quits. Interesting that you mention preview. There is no preview option on any of these windows. I can print fine on this printer from iphoto, and I can print fine on this printer with my old mac and photoshop 8, so is has to be something about the new mac and photoshop not playing nice together. Although, you can tell from my screen name that I have no idea what I'm talking about. I've been using photoshop since Elements 2, though, and have never had any problems, so I know I'm not crazy. Thank you for taking the time to help me with this.

Safari won't open, just quits before loading. I'm on Yosimite and up to date.
Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this. -

Upgrade from 2012 to 2012 R2 just quits
Hello,
We have the task to upgrade a physical server HP DL360 G6. It is running Windows 2012 Datacenter with Hyper-V role and the target is to do in-place upgrade to Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter.
The DVD burned with official 2012 R2 .iso is inserted in DVD tray of server, I started install and after message "Setup is copying files..." and "Setup is starting...", then the install process just quits with no error.
No Panther\setupact.log and Panther\setuperr.log in C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources.
The file C:\Windows\setuperr.log has no content and C:\Windows\setupact.log has no errors mentioned:

Physical server has 128 GB of RAM but only 92 GB of free space on C: system partition, so I've limited physical memory to 32 GB in order to accomodate to upgrade requirements.
As I mentioned earlier, it has Hyper-V role and some virtual machines that are turned off.
Please advise,

Andrei Moraru EndavaHi Andrei,
Based on your description, we need to make sure all VMs have been shutdown before doing the upgrade.
Besides, regarding upgrading from server 2012 with hyper-v role to 2012 r2, the following thread can be referred to as reference.

Epson Scan and Mac OSX 10.5.4 - Application just quits
I have a Epson 4180 Scanner and have access to 3 Macs. Two of the macs are running 10.5.4, and the other is running 10.4.11. When I launch "Epson Scan" on either of the Leopard computers, the application bounces on the dock and then just quits. It runs fine on the Mac running Tiger. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the application, repaired disk permissions, repaired pre-binding, and thrown away preferences to no avail. I spent over 2 hours on tech support with Epson, and they say it is an Apple OS issue.
Are there any other programs I can use ? (Image Capture sees the scanner, but does not preview the image nor allow changes in resolution settings).
Any help would be great! There are many posts here about scanners and fixes and workarounds. You can search for them.
Here is a starter:

In general it's an Epson issue in not supporting Leopard. Be sure you have the very latest Epson software and sometimes it's necessary to uninstall and reinstall it. -
Is anyone else having email problems such as apps exiting in the middle of an email? It may be a wireless issue. I use First Class for work and yahoo email for personal. I will be in the middle of typing a long email and the app just quits, all data lost.
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off" -
Firefox Beta quits on my android. no crash - just quits - is there a fix for this yet?
This thread is apparently abandoned by the support people.

App just quits. uninstalled on 10/17/14 and reinstalled with no add-ons from Google Play Store No change - Firefox runs as long as it is not connected to the web. Shows history - bookmark - etc. Soon as it connects on the internet it quits. Connecting via wireless network. I have uninstalled it so I can use the internet
I got this suggestion but was unable to duplicate all the steps...
Ok so I tried this finally and got it to work: this might be long but a shortened version:
. Connect the device to the computer via usb.
2. In android settings go to About device and double tap on build id 7 times
3. Go back and now see the developer menu
4. Open and enable remote debugging
5. Open up Firefox on the android go to settings > devloper tools and check remote debugging
6. From Desktop go to Tools > Connect
7. Open Tools > Console
8. Click on gear and on the far right click on "Remote debugging for this session only"
9. [adb sdk install required] in a terminal window
adb devices
make sure a device is listed.
10. On desktop in the window that openned up when you opened up connect click on connect
11. Immediately after run this in the terminal:
adb forward tcp:6000 localfilesystem:/data/data/org.mozilla.firefox/firefox-debugger-socket
12. On the device hit enable on the connection
13. should be connected on the connect and click on the remote tabs.
14 the logs will start to show up in the console.
15. If you need adb log cat logs run in the terminal before you start to test:
adb logcat > text.txt
do you thing, and attach it to a bug.
Here was my response:
I'm getting lost on #6 What "Tools" are you talking about?
I am using a laptop btw. Windows 8.1
Thanks
This is where it stopped... some fool got on that thread and was being obnoxious - so I hope we can start fresh here.Hi,
The "Tools" are in the old drop down menu, which are not shown by default in the new Firefox Design. To show this menu:
Firefox Menu > Customize
On the bottom left there will be Show/Hide Toolbars. The Menu will be listed here.
