Photoshop just randomly crashes

I tried looking this problem online and tried most of the solution but none of them worked.
I currently use photoshop cs 5, running snow leopard 10.6.8
This is the crash report, I'm not that great at reading these so if anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks.

If Intel does not have an updated driver, I would check the MS Surface Pro Web site.
If no updated driver exists, you might get it to run, if you turn off all graphics acceleration.
Unfortunately, Intel graphics chips are good, but driver support has been horrible. I recommend against using them, if one has programs like Ps CS 6, Premiere Pro CS 5 - 6, Premiere Elements 9 - 11, After Effects CS 6, any 3D applications, etc.. The Intel chips and drivers are OK for checking e-mail, surfing the Web, doing light wordprocessing, or some spreadsheet work, i.e. the tasks that they were designed for. They fall far short with video-intensive applications, that need to interface with the video driver.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Photoshop CS6 Randomly Crashes using Intel HD Graphics 4000

When using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 [Surface Pro], it randomly crashes. I normally can only use Photoshop for less than a minute, doing less than ten actions, before it crashes. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working." If I debug it using Visual Studio, I get this message:
Unhandled exception at 0x5442B60E (ig7icd32.dll) in Photoshop.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000002C.
I looked up ig7icd32.dll and it seems to be published by Intel and related to my graphics hardware, so I assume the problem is related to my Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem or as to what might be causing it?
    EDIT:
Also, when launching Photoshop, I get this message:
Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware.
Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software.
Graphics hardware enhancements can be enabled in the performance panel of preferences.

I've tried rolling back the graphics driver to the previous version but it has crashed since then so I'm at a loss now?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Thanks for your reply.  Yes it's always run from an admin account.  I haven't installed any software recently.  I have tested each RAM stick with memtest but it didn't find any faults.  So I still don't know what's going on but it actually didn't crash yesterday or today so far, I guess it's just wait and see what happens!  Sometimes the graphics accelerated features stop working, I don't know if it is related or not?
    Thanks

  • My phone randomly crashed and it won't turn back on. Why?

My iPhone 4 is running on 4.2 software, I believe. It just randomly crashed and after about 30 minutes it hasn't responded. I've had this happen twice before, the first time, I ultimately had to get a new phone. The previous time, it just came back to normal after 10 minutes. What do I do now?

    Hard Reset.
    - Hold down the Home Button (Circle button with White Square in it)
    - Wait for the 'Slide to Unlock' screen pops up
Turn your phone off once a week for about 10 minutes

  • Adobe Flash keeps randomly crashing

Help is needed badly. i'll go to sites i always go to and haven't had a problem with before, and then, just at random, while i'm doing things with the sites, my Adobe Flash will just randomly crash on me. i have no idea why, and it's really annoying me. One of the sites i'm on a lot is an online game that requires flash as it's a 3-d real-time RPG. i use the latest version of Firefox, and i haven't had problems before with Flash, but now all of a sudden i am. This problem with random crashes are relatively new, and have been occuring for the past two weeks.

Adobe just had an update in the past week or two, perhaps that's contributing to the problem. See this Firefox note on how to restore the prior Flash version.

  • Random crashes from iMac 9.1

I have a terrible problem and can't seem to narrow it down.
My iMac (about 9 months old) just randomly crashes (total black out) nad has been for about 4 - 5 months. I can't isolate anything in particular that is going on when it does it, sometimes just moving the mouse causes it. I've check the console messages to see what (if anything) was happening when it crashes but nothing mysterious. The message "com.apple.AddressBook.abd) The following job tried to hijack the service "com.apple.AddressBook.abd" from this job: [0x0-0x601601].com.apple.AddressBook.abd" comes up every 10 minutes (and when it crashed about 5 min's ago was also the last message before it went) or so but I've checked this board and from I have read this is a benign message. Or so they say. I can't get rid of that either.
I'd appreciate if anyone could help give me direction on how to diagnose the problem. It is under Apple Care but I'm afraid taking it it and saying it crashes but I don't know how or what causes it or least of all when. It does seem to happen about 2 -3 times a month.
I had a UPS attached but I've unattached it for about a month now and it still crashed, I also 2 USB disk drives attached (one for Time Machine backup and another for additional storage) tried disconnecting them and still had crashes.
    And finally a USB hub.
I'm lost. Wish there was something, some software or log to tell me what, why it's happening.
    Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

I think I have the exact same problem here on my iMac. It's really confusing...
    Did you find a solution?

  • Why does Firefox keep randomly crashing?

For the past couple of days, Firefox will just randomly crash on me when I'm browsing the Internet. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the crashes. It may happen if I'm on Facebook or watching a YouTube clip. It can happen if I've been on Firefox for 2 hours or 20 minutes, though lately they seem to be happening sooner. Sometimes I'll get the "Firefox has stopped working" dialogue box, but most of the times it just shows loads the Mozilla Crash Report. I was able to get problem details the last time I got the "stopped working" dialogue box:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: firefox.exe
    Application Version: 24.0.0.5001
    Application Timestamp: 522fd29f

Unfortunately, I don't really know how to read that information and I don't actually know if it is useful. It's all very frustrating because there doesn't seem to be any reason for these crashes. They just happen. Any help in fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I should add, I've re-downloaded Firefox, but that doesn't look like it has helped any. Still get seemingly inexplicable crashes.

  • Photoshop CS6 keeps randomly crashing

I bought CS6 upgrade from CS5 this week but it keeps randomly crashing I mainly use CS6 for digital art with my wacom intuos tablet. I have never had this problem with CS5 and I have a decent spec PC with 8 GB Ram and a quadcore CPU so I dont understand why this is happening. In the preferences menu I have save in backround and automatically save information every 10 minutes options checked. But the ironic thing is that when I have been drawing a long time and Photoshop crashes and when I reopen CS6 there is no recovery file and the origional file hasnt been updated with auto save. I have 7 different versions of a particular digital painting I have been working on but CS6 only saved 2 recovery files from the 7 versions and has crashed atleast 16 times between my work. I have CS6 updated to the latest version from online update but the problem still persists. Can anyone offer me any advice?

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • After update, Photoshop CC 2014 crashes just after launching - a whole day lost between forums and support

Here in France, it's getting late, 9.45 PM, that is 12 hours after the first crash of Photoshop CC 2014 on my Mac OS 10.9.4.
Nothing changed on my computer, excepted the PhCC14 update.
Then I launched the app and it crashed right after displaying the workframe.
I tried and tried so many things :
Ashutosh.Nigam suggested me in this forum to change the permissions to SLStore & SLCache Folder, but it did not work.
Ali from french Adobe support told me to delete my Settings files, but it was not enough.
A girl with no name from the same team told me to update my graphics card driver, but, you know, I run the latest Mac OS X version and everything is updated, mademoiselle.
Stephane sent me a link to a huge page of things to do :
    -  Troubleshoot account-specific fonts, but there wasn't any corrupted font
    - Delete account-specific Adobe cache files but... guess what...
    - Troubleshoot account-specific login items but... yes, that's it, I can see you understand me
    - Reset the access settings on the user account's Library folder... oh god, that was fun, I used the Terminal and sudo commands
    - I checked the disk and repaired all permissions...
I did all of these things because when I tried to open PhCC in an other admin session, it worked. So it could  be an incompatibility between my session and PhCC. But, but, but, when I tried again to lauch the app in the second session, it worked fine but refused to quit. Ha ha ha.
Last call to the french support : "Désolé Monsieur, you didn't spend 2000 € for a specific help, but because you have lost a whole day of work, we will pay you back 2€. And no, Photoshop won't work anymore on your session. You have to move all your files to a new session."
It's unfair ! The software was running gently on my session, Adobe change things and I have to break everything on my computer, move every config from one session to another with absolutely no warranty that it won't crash again.
It's NOT what I pay Adobe CC  each month for.
    Very disappointed Jean-Luc

Anyone know how to read a crash report?
I can print with Lightroom, there is nothing wrong with the printer, or the file.  But I want to print with Photoshop without a crash.  Besides, Lightroom doesn't give me access to all of my print settings.
Hoping someone can help, I"m exasperated.....

  • Hi Guys and girls, I am having trouble with photoshop just starting up randomly

Every hour or so Photoshop just launches for no reason at all - I can be watching a movie so it's not something I'm doing whilst at the computer - any help on this matter would be most appreciated - I think I've changed a setting accidentally or uninstalled something I may have needed?
Any help on this matter would be so appreciated.
    Sincerely
    Matty

Contact the app developer for their advice.

  • Photoshop CS 2 crashing... can anyone help?

Hi all, I have read through the forums and found a few threads that had some ideas in it, most notably repairing my disk persmissions, which I did. I could not find the "photoshop preferences" to delete them like someone suggested.
However I still get random crashes, and by crash I mean, no spinning beach ball, just POOF! Gone! No "do you want to reopen" window, just gone!
I am thinking I may try and install the CS3 trial to see if that helps, 'cause at this point I am having to save after every action so I don't lose anything! I am using my powerbook more since photoshop doesn't crash on it!
Would it help to re-install? I am at my wits end, I spent 4500 dollars on a machine that won't run my primary program!
I would really appreciate any help anyone can suggest. Thanks!
    2.66 Mac Pro; Powerbook G4 17in   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

There are or have been a number of threads on CS2 as well as systems being unstable.
From how you setup your system, to what you installed, and whether you imported or used Migration Assistant (a real no-no in general when coming from a PPC, reinstall your applications) and there are some plug-ins that won't work.
Memory, testing and having adequate or more, testing your disk drive. Permissions are helpful when installing or if not launching maybe, but otherwise, not going to cure a crash.
I would erase and zero a drive (new, test drive) and only install Apple and bare essentials. No frills. Test one thing at a time as you add, and backup "as needed" so you have a "restore point" in time.
If you think it is the 'puter, run Apple Hardware Test. If you haven't, run Memtest overnight or in multiple windows, or from Applejack (AJ is helpful to have installed to clean things up, repair drives, delete cache files - oh, and deleting cache files/folders is helpful and should probably be done before any OS update, along with repairing your disks for directory problems (Disk Warrior 4 is excellent in this department for keeping disk drives running healthy).
CS3 lacks the free memory caching capability of CS2 which helps a lot when working on files of over 500-1500MB. If CS2 is your primary application, then hopefully now that prices for memory have dropped to $700 for 4GB good time to invest in more.
And you might want to expand your hardware ".sig" to include more details.... how much memory or 3rd party.
One last, anything in the panic or system.logs?
