Photoshop Lag

Hi,
we bought a new mac pro. and installed adobe photoshop 5.5 and photoshop 6.0. for a while photoshop has started to freeze and mouse pointer has started to spin. i can't work anymore with both photoshop. zooming, cloning, wrapping etc. whichever of  tools i use, always it happens and i have to wait for end of spinning. before spinning the process (like zooming) incredibly is laggy. i invented that if i take mouse pointer to the right, left, up or down of the display, it is starting to get new of the work (for example i zoom out and the work is drew on display, but this is slow -block to block-. normally it must display quickly). namely, it can't draw the work in new view (%90, %1200 etc). but if i move the mouse to various directon of display, it draws the work when the mouse pointer is on the block of work.
in consol's messages, i found this:
12/28/12 12:03:15.557 PM WindowServer[152]: _CGXGetWindowOrderingGroup: Operation on a window 0x77 requiring rights 0x5 by caller Photoshop
i googled it, but i can't find anything. i don't think that's because of 2 photoshop versions. because if it were so, indesign or illustrator would give the same error.
and i also have mouse lag..
i hope, i could describe the problem. i'm ready to answer the questions in order to manage to tell more clear.
thank you all.
macpro 2x2.4 ghz 6 core intel xeon

ati radeon hd 5770 1024 mb
mountain lion 10.8.2

hi,
the problem still goes on. i wrote the problem also in adobe forums. no luck. to work with this silly bug is very hard and tiresome.
i tried another magic mouse, but the problem is still there. i don't have a cable mouse in order to understand whether the problem is on bluetooth, or not. i can't believe that i'm trying the difference hardware, like being on windows to find the problem..
i sent error messages to apple and adobe. there is no feedback from them surprisingly.
any idea?

  • Photoshop Lag on Windows 8 after few days after installation

Hi all guys. I need your help if anybody can help me. When I install Photoshop everything is working perfectly but after few days Photoshop starts lagging. If I unninstall it and install it again there is not any lag and It's working good but after few days the lag is back. I'm confused really because on Windows 7 there is not that lag (Just on Windows 8). I'm using Photoshop in my job pretty much and this problem confuse me.

Everything is slowing down. If I make selection it takes effect after 3-4 seconds, if I'm using brush it takes effects after 3-4 seconds too. Whole Photoshop is lagging.

  • Photoshop lagging/ crashing whenever I use any brush.

    Hi guys,
I've found recently that Photoshop (CS5) is lagging or completely crashing when I use any of my brushes. I'm doing a painting in one document at the moment and it's near on impossible because every time I make a brush stroke it takes 10 seconds or so to recover. And now it's got to the point where I'm trying to smudge things but every time I make a stroke it crashes PS completely. I'm fed up.
I've turned off Enable GL drawing and I've made sure I don't have too many programmes running in the background on my computer, and I'm unsure what else to try. (I have Windows 8, if that's relevant).
    Anyone got any advice?
    Thanks.

    Got all the updates installed.
    Updated driver for video card.
    Disabled third party plugins.
Restarted Photoshop, restarted computer, no difference.
How do I look for bad fonts? I am not convinced that will be the problem, though.
Not sure what to do next.

  • Major Photoshop Lag - 2013 MacPro

Having some major Photoshop problems, and this is a BRAND NEW computer, just put into production...
    I'm using Photoshop CC 2014.
Initially, everything works great.  However, after working for about 30 min to 1 hour, or retouching about 15-20 images, the clone tool preview starts lagging heavily.  The tool itself moves fine, but the preview only appears when I stop movement of the tool.  It doesn't do this initially.  Also, when this starts happening, just moving a small layer around also lags.  It doesn't matter what size the file is either. The only way to fix it is to reset my preferences.  However, after a short amount of time, it does it again.
Here is a list of things that I have tried but hasn't fixed the problem:
    Disabled plugins.
Made sure my tablet driver was up to date.
Closed Photoshop and use Memory Clean to free up memory.
    Rebooted Mac.
Did a hard reset on the Mac as well as cleared PRAM.
Ran the Apple Hardware Test (had no errors).
Unplugged any extra peripherals (wacom tablet, extra monitor, all external hard drives)
Uninstalled Photoshop CC 2014 and used the cleaner tool from Adobe to remove all files.
Adobe tech support had me make a new Mac admin account.Adobe tech also had me log in to root and try.Adobe tech checked my Photoshop settings, cache levels, graphics card settings etc.
Disabled any fonts other than system fonts.
Downloaded and installed older Photoshop CC version. (no extra brushes, plug-ins, actions etc. were installed).
Worked off of one monitor with minimal palettes open.
I feel like after trying all this stuff, it's definitely a bug in the program.
The KEY test here is the following:
I even sent my preferences file to a friend who also has a 2013 Mac Pro.  When he uses my preferences file, his does the EXACT same thing.  However, the difference being, when he goes back to his old preferences file, the problem doesn't come back  like mine.
Again, I have tried Photoshop CC 2014 AND CC without any plug ins, extra brushes, actions, styles, shortcuts, etc. and it still does it.
I'm running a 2013 Mac Pro Quad 37 GHz CPU, which has dual Firepro D300's with 2GB video ram,  and 12GB of 1866MHz DDR3 RAM.  Mac was purchased brand new. OS is Yosemite 10.10.2
here's a video showing the exact problem... (working even on a low resolution .jpg which should be blinding fast)
    http://youtu.be/IbOr-_30P5k
Adobe is trying to help, but getting nowhere, and this IS a problem, it's a brand new machine with a brand new install of the OS, and a fresh new user account, and a fresh install of CC2014, this should not be happening.
By simple process of elimination tests, this cannot be a hardware error or an OS error or anything of that nature, otherwise it would not replicate the problem on a friend's MacPro who I send my prefs file to... the fact that the prefs file replicates the problem, PROVES it's a problem with the adobe software. and a solution must be out there?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it.
Now, interesting thing is, I know of two other Macpro's one 2013, and one an older quad-core macpro 4,1 both running 10.10.2 and neither of those have this issue?
and the other confusing part to me about this, is why would friend's 2013 Macpro NOT have this issue until using THIS prefs file, if it was an Apple thing?
    thanks for your help!

  • Illustrator and Photoshop lag in i5+6gb RAM

I own Lenovo Z510 laptop with configuration - i5 4th gen, 6GB RAM, 8GB SSD(hybrid). and Nvidia GeForce 740M. Even in this configuration Illustrator and Photoshop CS5 is lagging (Even when working without textures, just plain colors). How can I optimize the settings? In Photoshop for hardware acceleration it uses onboard Intel 4000 graphics. Is that the reason? I am not getting Nvidia on drop down (switchable graphhics?).
    Please help. Its painfully slow!

You definitely want Photoshop taking advantage of your video card (Nvidia) instead of your chipset (Intel). You like will have to configure you graphics settings so that the chip set is turned off to get things working correctly.

  • Photoshop lags when i use the marquee tool

I recently updates to Photoshop CC (2014) and ever since I did I have been having problems with lag when using the Marquee tool. I have tried reinstalling Photoshop and even downgrading back to CC but it doesn't help. Does anyone know what causes this?

machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.

  • Photoshop lagging like crazy?

Okay, so I recently bought Adobe Photoshop CS6 Student/Teacher Edition and installed on both a laptop and desktop. On the laptop it works perfectly, but on the desktop, it's lagging horribly. I have changed the drawing mode to basic, closed out other programs, changed the performance settings (and discovered I can use more memory on the desktop than on the laptop, so why is it so slow?), uninstalled/reinstalled Photoshop, and reformatted the computer. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 9100 graphics card, which I updated, but PS is still lagging. Also, I did not have this issue with Paint Tool SAI, Paint, Autodesk Sketchbook Express, Adobe Photoshop Elements, or even the trial version of PS. (We did buy a new monitor with a larger screen since I last used the CS6 trial.) Is there any way to fix this issue? I love the new monitor but I hate being unable to draw with it.

Yeah, but then why wouldn't  Photoshop Elements 9 and all the other software slow down? Sometimes CS6 stops lagging for a few minutes but then it always goes back to lagging. Also, on the laptop, I get an error saying the graphics processor won't work (or something like that - I can't remember what exactly.) Even though all the other drawing programs work fine, sometimes Netflix slows down. We tried updating the video processor and reformatting the computer again. I haven't had a chance to try Photoshop, but Netflix is still slow and I think Photoshop may start lagging again.

  • Photoshop lagging no matter what adjustments I make?

I've tried every possible solution from changing brush settings to memory allowances for Photoshop CC and I can't get rid of this lag. I've tried calling and putting with Adobe's crap IM to get help and that was probably the least helpful thing I've ever done. At this point, I'm angry that I even had to sit through the download because I can't make use of this program. At the very least, I didn't have to pay for it.
Can anyone offer an solutions? My laptop has the space for it so there shouldn't even be a problem.

  • Photoshop Lag with mounted Network Drive

Me and a co-worker have the same problem, we work in a production environment. We do all of our work on a network. We are using CS3. Normally we have 4 other macs mounted on our desktop. There is one drive that when it is mounted, our files take 5 minutes to open and or save even if the file we are opening is on our desktop and 1meg. if we eject this drive then photoshop returns to normal. This mac that is mounted is our customer file server so all the stuff we need to open in photoshop is on this drive so it has to be mounted. This problem seemed to start when we upgraged to CS3.
    Any help?

    Jay...
If you were able to take a decent poll of visitors past and present, I'd bet you'd find more than a handful of users just on this one forum who could tell you that Disk Warrior (or Drive Genius) has saved their *******' bacon, when no other utility or maintenance routine thrown at the hard drive would make it read properly.
It's happened twice for me in the past 11 years. The return on investment is incalculable.
    I reiterate what Neil said:
"Does your boss buy a car and "save" by not performing routine maintenance?"
"Same thing with your computer. It needs routine maintenance, too. Explain to your boss that you'd be far more productive if your computer weren't crippled -- and it won't get better on its own. "
I had a boss who was a horrible tightwad (and was known as such throughout the printing industry in my city), and kept balking on getting me some more RAM for the PowerMac 7300/180 MHz I was using. I was limping along on 32 MB, and many of the files I was working on daily were in the 100-400MB range. You have no idea how many smoke and coffee breaks I used to take, waiting for simple operations to take place. He stopped in my building one day, and caught me next door at the deli, sipping a coffee and leisurely eating a bagel. He read me the riot act. I let him act like a ******* and chew me out in front of everyone in the deli.
When he was done going ballistic on me I simply said to him something like this: "If you weren't such a cheapskate, and would spend a little money to upgrade my machinelike I've begged you to for 6 monthsI could get a whole lot more done and we wouldn't be in this predicament, now would we?"
I fully expected to be fired on the spot, but I had gotten to the point where I didn't care. I was ALWAYS being given too much work for the machine to handle in a 50 hour week.
I had done research, and showed him facts and figures; I tried to make him understand in terms of dollars and centsa language he understoodbut he just didn't get it.
Next day, I yanked a 128MB module from my system at home and brought it to work. I called him at the other building and demanded he come right over.
I had the cover off the PowerMac; loaded into Photoshop I had one of our typical jobsabout 200 MB. I had a Photoshop action set to go, and I showed him how long it took to do a few common procedures (Rotate/straighten, crop, save). In fact, we even went next door, grabbed a coffee, ate a bagel, smoked a cigarette and came back, and the file still had about 5 minutes worth of processing to go.
Then, I shut down, popped the 128 MB RAM module in, and performed the same manipulations I had done before. The difference was extraordinary, down from about 20 minutes to under 5.
    He
    finally
understood what I was trying to tell him. He got on the phone right then and there and ordered a half GB of RAM, to be shipped overnight.
All of this is offered as an anecdote, as an example of why you need to find what ever way necessary to explain to your boss the need for the monetary outlay. The small amount he spends now could very well save him enormously in the future, in time, aggravation
    and
    money.

  • Inkwell causing Photoshop to lag

We just installed a Wacom Cintique and were trying to use inkwell instead of the software keyboard to enter text, and when we do, then go back to Photoshop to work photoshop lags for about 10 minutes before it recognizes drawn strokes with the tablet.
Does anyone know why, or if there is a fix to address this issue?

I have not heard of any on-going Bug search, regarding fonts and the Text Tool, but I do know that some engineers are "collecting" fonts, that cause problems.
Regarding fonts, there are often two main issues:
Corrupt fonts, that are otherwise good.
Fonts that are not corrupt, but are written/created in such a way, as to cause issues.
It can be tough for a user to know which is which. This ARTICLE goes into more detail, and has some links to Adobe KB articles, on fonts, specifically to PS. The main article was written to help with problems of fonts in Adobe Premiere (Pro & Elements), in the Titler sub-app., with is much more sensitive to font issues, than is PS, AI or InDesign.
    Good luck,

  • Hello, we have a Problem with Adobe Photoshop CS6 and VM Ware.

    Hello,
    our Problem is:
A user uses VM Ware and the OS: WIN7
She made Screenshots in the VM Ware, the Screenshots she want to edit in Photoshop, but then Photoshop lag a lot.
The PC has 16 GB RAM, but uses just 9 GB ( 6 GB for the VM(she needs 6 GB , because a Program needs so much GB) and 3 for the normal PC).
    Does anybody know an answer?

Turn off hardware acceleration in the PS prefs.

  • Photoshop CS3 left-click is extremely slow/delayed

    I recently purchased a new 2011 Macbook Pro 15", 2.2ghz, 4GB ram. I'm running photoshop CS3, and I'm experiencing a very odd problem.
Specifically in my layers palette, and my layer styles dialog, photoshop lags for about 3-5 seconds when left-clicking things. For example, I can right click a layer, and go to 'blending options', and the layer styles dialog comes up almost immediately. However, when I double-click the right end of the layer (the way I typically bring up layer styles), it takes about 5-6 seconds for the dialog to appear. Similarly, if I use keyboard shortcuts to navigate through selecting different layers, the change in layer selection happens almost immediately. However, when I simply left-click a layer, it takes about 4-5 seconds for the layer to be selected. It almost acts as if I'm holding the mouse button down for those few seconds. This same delay also happens while selecting various layer styles within the layer styles dialog, as well as selecting a color from the color picker, which makes it almost impossible for me to pick a color, because if I've moved my mouse within those 4-5 seconds as it's lagging, the color will change to wherever my mouse is currently.
I'm not experiencing this problem anywhere else on my computer, nor anywhere else within Photoshop. Clicking all other tools and options works just fine. Photoshop is set to use 65% of my system memory, and it's set to use 2 cache levels. I've tried disabling 'tap clicking' on my trackpad, as well as use a standard usb mouse - nothing has fixed it. This problem is experienced no matter how large or small the document I am working on is.
Does anyone have any idea of what this could be??

    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, font validation, etc.)?
