Photoshop .MP4 misidentified by Mtn Lion as app

I searched for this but haven't found a help link. I hope I'm not repeating the question....
System: Mac / Mountain Lion / PS CS6 -
I output a Photoshop animation as an MP4 but when I try to play it, I get a message saying that the video file is an "app from an unknown developer" and telling me that I have to adjust security settings, etc.
This doesn't make any sense. It looks like PS is wrapping the video in an app container while calling it an MP4. Does anyone know what's up with this or how to fix it?
Thanks.

On a Windows system a utlity GSpot will tell you what CODEX is required and if it is on machine.  Does not look like an easy alternative for a Mac, here is one LINK you can look at.
Edit had to change link as is was no good.

  • PhotoShop compatibility w/Mtn Lion - need input please  =)

PhotoShop compatibilityQuestion for you lovely peeps:  I'm upgrading to the newest MacBook Pro this week and wondered what the Earliest version of PhotoShop is compatible w/Mtn Lion? I'm no longer a gr.designer by trade, and don't need "all" the bells/whistles but Love PS and being an artist !! =)  Just didn't think I needed to drop $700 on the latest greatest when I don't use it like I used to in that business. My current laptop is an older MacBook running an old OS obviously and it's time to upgrade all my favorite software.  Thank you much!

You will need to contact Office for Mac Support  and/or post in their forums since Photoshop their product.

  • How do I get my apps back after uninstall of Mtn Lion?

After I uninstalled Mtn Lion my Migration asst won't recover certain applications from Time Mach  backup.
Says apps on Time Mach drive are 'newer' unreadable versions. How do I recover?
Apparently I should not have let the Lion anywhere near my white iMac. Whoops!
White iMac / OS 10.6.8 / Gdrive external for Time Mach backup

You will have to obtain earlier, compatible, versions of the applications either from an older part of the Time Machine backup or from the original sources.

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
Snow Leopard Tech Specs  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

  • HT4718 I have successfully upgraded to Mtn Lion on my Mac OS X10.8.3 Desk Top and am missing several Apps - such as IPhoto, IMovie, etc. What's up w/that?

I recently upgraded my Snow Leopard OS X to Mtn Lion, vers. 10.8.3 and all seems well, however, I seem to be missing several (many?) apps which I had before and which I believe came with my Mac OS X desktop when I purchased it in 2012. Most importantly, I'm missing IPhoto and IMovie. The "Apps" folder is certainly much smaller now than before and I don't seem to have provision to re-install my apps - several of which are absolutely essential.
I did go to the App Store, signed in and looked at my purchases. They did NOT include IMovie and IPhoto = which are absolutely essential to my use of this Mac - and the reason I purchased it in the first place.
If you have suggestions, please and give me some ideas. I am a 73 year old Disabled Veteran and def need help!
    Thanks to one and all.

Since your Mac came with Snow Leopard preinstalled you will need to use the disks that came with it to reinstall iPhoto and iMovie with a custom install of the Installed Bundled software.  You should have a disk similar to #3 in the screenshot (lower right hand corner).
Do a custom install of the iApps you need and apply the necessary updaters from the Apple Downloads web page.

  • Numbers says to update but when App store opens under mtn lion says not updates needed.

Numbers, Pages and Keynote all say I need an update when I open but none of them will activate the download. Now that mtn lion is installed it immediately open the store and checks. So Im thinking is Apple wanting us to repurchase to get this update so its store savvy? If not how do I update?

In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have tihat needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window. This is a screenshot of my updates earlier today when I had the iWork update under Software Update & some Mac App Store-purchased apps that also needed updating.
But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

  • Since downloading Mtn.Lion my epson printer doesn't work correctly & the entire system seems to be slower plus my iMac now disconnects from my wifi every time the mac sleeps. Can anyone help me with these issues?

I am having problems with my Imac (approx 1 yr old) every since I downloaded (from the App.Store) Mountain Lion.  I am a working mom with 3 toddlers.....I have very little time to work on the computer which I primarily use for photograhpy needs.  I am not computer savvy enough to figure out how to "fix" the new issues/problems and am frustrated.  I am hoping someone can help me........
Issues just since downloading Mountain Lion:
    1)  My Epson R2400 printer is not printing properly.  It wouldnt print at all from CS5 the first 2 days.  Then just started printing.  The prints aren't nearly as good as they used to be.  I just installed Photoshop Elements 10 and have been able to print but the prints are just awful. I printed a test page and it was perfect.  I've triple checked the settings in the print dialogue box to ensure the correct paper is chosen, etc.  I've never let the printer manage the color before but it is the only option that gives a mediocre print at best.
I've gone to Epson.com.   It says to update driver through Apple for Mtn. Lion.  According to my computer I have no updates.  Printer is connected via USB. Changed the ports, turned printer on & off.  Emailed epson & they said to reset the print queue, which I did.  Restarted the IMac Still no luck.  (The error message I got when trying to print from CS5 is "filter failed." But, as stated before it just started printing today as I was typing this.
I print out pics quite a bit and it seems the only time I have ever had problems is when I upgraded the OSX system. Why is that??  When I upgraded to 10.7 is when I first realized my print quality went down.
    2)  Now every time I "wake" up my computer it has become offline and has to go through the steps to reconnect to my wifi.  Never did that before Mtn.Lion.  I purchased the Airport Extreme Dec 2011.  My computer was always connected before the update.  Now I have to scroll down & pick my network & wait for it to connect before proceeding.   I double checked preferences and it is set up to check for updates automatically.  What is that about??
    3)  It just seems that my system overall is slower.  I love my mac but I am frustrated because I don't have the free time needed to do all this problem solving.  I just need it to work properly when I have a few minutes to work on a picture.  I imagine there are other issues, but these are the only  2 areas I've focused on since the upgrade.
I've read different views/feedback on Mtn Lion but haven't come across the printer issue or the wifi connection issue.
Can anyone direct me towards a solution? I really appreciate it!
    T

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

  • Can't figure out how to install mtn lion on macbook

bought an upgrade to mtn lion, but can't figure out how to use the license to install.  It says "go to Mac App Store main page and 'quick links', but I'm not sure i'm even on the right page.  no quick links button.  Help!

Are you definitely looking at the App Store application (from your Dock or the applications folder)? It does not mean the Apple Store website. You'll have the App Store provided you already have 10.6.8 or later installed - if you're not sure, click the Apple menu on the top left of your desktop, and click About This Mac.

  • Why can't I wait for Mtn Lion to use iCloud services?

I have an MBP running Snow Leopard, a new iPad and an original iPad, and an iPhone 3G.  I have been a MobileMe user from its inception.  I haven't wanted to "upgrade" to Lion on the MBP, but will jump over it to Mountain Lion in July.  I've read the workaround by Wilmer(?) for moving my me.com mail account to iCloud while still at 10.6.8 (lie and say i'm running Lion) and should be able to handle that. I will miss my MobileMe Gallery but all photos are in my MBP's iPhoto folder anyway, and I've emptied my iDisk folders.  I do sync calendar and contacts via MobileMe among all my devices, but as long as I'm sure that both are "on my Mac" before 30/06/2012, shouldn't I be able to lose MobileMe and wait until late July to formally make my MBP "compatible with iCloud" by purchasing Mtn Lion thru the App Store? I realize the iPhone 3G is "legacied-out".  But, will my wife's original iPad be able to sync calendars and contacts via iCloud, like it does now via MobileMe, if I wait as I've described?  BTW, we are US ex-pats living in Mérida, Yucatán, México.  No Apple Store, albeit there are authorized resellers.  Pero, no tengo suficiente español para hablar mucho con "technos" sobre ésta pregunta.

As regards your Mac, the process you describe will work. I can't advise on whether an original iPad can access iCloud - probably not, as iOS 5 is required, but I don't know whether it's upgradeable: someobdoy else may chip in, or you could ask in the iPad forum.

  • IPhone 5 doesn't work with Mac OS 10.5.8 - do I need to ugrade to 10.6 and then upgrade to Mountain Lion or can I just upgrade to Mtn Lion right away?

iPhone 5 doesn't work with Mac OS 10.5.8 - do I need to ugrade to 10.6 and then upgrade to Mountain Lion or can I just upgrade to Mtn Lion right away?

At least to 10.6.8. You must do this to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • I have Mavericks on iMac I also need Mtn Lion

I installed Mavericks on my late 2012 27" Fusion iMac.  Turns out I need Mtn Lion for an important CAD app that will not be upgraded until 2014. Support says I cannot go back, and in fact cannot install any OS earlier than Mavericks now. He said if I partioned my HD I still could not install Mtn Lion.  Would it be possible to install 10.5 onto a Thunderbolt SSD external drive? Woulld that result in a satisfactory way to run my CAD program? Finally where could I get a full install?  Apple does not offer it.

I'm guessing you meant that you were thinking of installing 10.8.5 on the SSD, not 10.5? I would think that you should be able to go back to 10.8 via Internet Recovery:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
by repartitioning the drive to a single partition, thereby removing the existing Recovery Partition, and reinstalling. That in the past would get you the version of OS that came with your Mac. I haven't tried it, though, so I can't say with certainty that it's not now like iOS where you get the most recent version that runs on your system regardless of what it shipped with. If that's the case, you may need to purchase a retail copy of Mountain Lion, which can do here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
then build a bootable installer flash drive from the downloading installer - the donationware DiskMaker X is the easiest way - then boot your iMac from that installer and either install on your iMac's hard drive or on your external, whichever you prefer.
    Regards.
