  • Photoshop not opening files

Photoshop CS5 will not open files. Occasionally if i try to open a .psd file that has already been created by double clicking on it in its folder, it will open but I will hardly be able to edit it. For example, the brush tool does not work, crop tool, resizing image etc. I had this problem 2 weeks ago. I uninstalled adobe creative suite, ran the adobe cloud cleanup tool and then reinstalled the programs and everything worked again. However after a week everything suddenly went back to the way it was again. Very frustrating! I might as well mention that at the same time as Photoshop "crashed" I also became unable to drag objects in Illustrator and InDesign.
I am not very good on the technical side so I just copied all my performance info below. I am working from a laptop with a mouse plugged into the usb port. Is there any other details you need to know?
Thank you in advance for your help!

The gaming graphics score is based on the primary graphics adapter. If this system has linked or multiple graphics adapters, some software applications may see additional performance benefits.

With 2 gigs of RAM you are just too out of date for modern software.  Try bumping RAM up to max of 4 gigs.
Ideally you should be running the 64 bit OS with 8 gigs of RAM.

  • Photoshop not opening Raw files

Workstation using Photoshop CC 14.1.2 will not open a Raw file from a EOS T4i. Adobe's website says the minimum for this camera is the the 7.1 plug-in and the CC 14.1.2 plug-in I'm using is 8.2. Any ideas other then updating the software (it's my employers computer and they only do updates every 12 months, I know…it's a pain in the neck but it is what it is)? Two questions…why will it not open if the plug-in is 8.2 and the minimum is 7.1 and should I try DNG or would that be a waste of time?

It should open with ACR 8.2.  Does ACR 8.2 start?
CC 14.1.2 is the latest version of Photoshop CC however its latest ACR version is ACR 9.9 ths same ACR the same version the  newer version of Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 Photoshop.exe version 15.2.2 uses.

  • Why  will photoshop not open after loading it to new iMac computer from an external hard drive and I get this message: Licensing for this product has stopped working:error code: 150:30

Why will Photoshop CS4 not open after loading to new iMac from an external hard drive and I get this message: Licensing for this product has stopped working:error code: 150:30

A Photoshop installation is tied to the machine it was installed on. Moving it to or from a hard drive breaks the licensing.
The answer is easy: Reinstall CS4 from your disc. and apply all updates.

  • Photoshop not opening correctly

My photoshop CC 2014 does not open correctly. A window pops up and says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Please someone help me, Thank you.

You must probably have to re-install your application.
Next time you post, please at least mention your platform, Mac or Win.

  • Photoshop not opening - please help!

    Hi guys,
I'm having problems whenever I try and open my copy of Photoshop CS5. It fails and gives the message "Could not initialise Photoshop because of a program error".
All the other Adobe programs I have work fine (and were all part of the same CS5 suite). Also I created another user account and it opens up fine on there. I thought it may have been that I was running an outdated OS, but I've upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and it's still doing the same thing.
I've searched all around the net for an answer but no one seems to have one. What information do I need to provide to be able to get any help with this?
    Many thanks in advance
    Oli

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

  • Photoshop not opening file

Hi,  hoping someone can help please.  I've been using photoshop cs5 for a while now under Windows 8 64bit.  I take photos using a Canon camera.  In the last few days I have found that I now can no longer open files - Photoshop opens but the file does not.  The only change I can see is that I have opened some pictures taken on a Nikon Camera recently.  Has anyone got any suggestions please - I have updated the graphics driver, tried to install some latest ps5 updates but these don't work,  Tried deleting settings file and tried uninstalling / reinstalling CS4.

You did not mention which file format is affected.
Please read these and proceed accordingly:

  • Photoshop not opening photos through Lightroom

I'm using Photoshop CC on OSX 10.10.2, everything is updated. My problem is when I'm using Lightroom CC and use "edit in Photoshop CC", photoshop opens up but the photo doesn't. I can open the photo through Photoshops menu but that won't return me to Lightroom with the changes.
The only way I have found to solve this is to restart the computer and it then works fine for awhile and eventually the problem comes back. I can't isolate what I do differently to make it stop working.

Hate to say it, JJ, but you're missing the point .
The OP is invoking "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom, a standard and familiar command for Lightroom users. The file is then passed on to ACR, with the Lightroom settings (which is the whole point), and it should then open normally into Photoshop. Once saved back out from Photoshop, Lightroom will keep track of it so it can be reopened in Lightroom.
    But here it doesn't.
caddion - you say "everything is updated", but you really need to make sure that Lightroom and ACR are in version sync. If they aren't, "edit in" won't work. If you have, say, Lightroom 5.7, then ACR needs to be at 8.7. These are corresponding versions.
The reason for this is that ACR opens the file with Lightroom settings. But with different versions, ACR may not know what these settings mean.

  • Aperture 3.3    Photoshop not opening  image.

If I try to export to have image edited in Photoshop CS4, i see this error message.
"This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support the image format."
This started months later after upgrading to Aperture 3.0. Can anyone help me fix this?
    Thanks in advance!

I'm right clicking on the photo and selecting -> edit with Edit with Adobe Photoshop CS5.  The photo opens in Adobe, but it doesn't have any of the Aperture edits applied to it.  I would have to start from scratch doing these in photoshop.  I want to be able to do the Raw adjustments in Aperture and then open into Photoshop.
To test I applied a crop in Aperture and then opened that file in Photoshop.  The full size image opens in Photoshop.

  • Adobe Indesign and Photoshop not opening in Rosetta?

Just bought a brand new iMac intel model and I've installed my 8 month old Adobe Creative suite that I used on my G5 iMac.
Instalation went smoothly, but none of the apps open. I double click on them in usual way, I get two hops of the app icon on the dock, that's it, nothing?

Go to Apps/Utilities/Disk Utility and use 1st Aid to Repair Permissions on your OS X boot volume.
It is a good idea to Repair Permissions before and after software installations. Also, to not have any other apps running during installation.
I hope that you have not installed Version Cue. Also, if you have installed Adobe Acrobat get the update ASAP to prevent future headaches.

  • Version Cue CS3 not working. Photoshop not opening.

    Hello,
I have just installed Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard on my new MacBook Pro. I have activated it. However when i start Version Cue CS3 and check for updates i get the message "No Internet connection. Please check your Internet settings and /or firewall. Waiting for connection...". I have turned off my firewall and the antivirus program and I still cannot get it to work.
I also cannot start Photoshop CS3. When I open the application a blank window titled "Adobe Design Suit Standard CS3" appears as well as Photoshop toolbars which I cannot select. All the options on the toolbar is greyed out and I cannot select any of them. I have to force quit the application.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Just Upgraded to 10.4.1, Photoshop not Opening Files

    Help!
I am on a MacBookPro and I just updated my MacOS X software to 10.4.1 and now Photoshop CS2 won't open any files. I get the beachball and the fan starts running on the machine. I files are large to small, jpegs to tiff to psds.
My CS2 ImageReady can open the files, but when I switch to Photoshop it just hangs.
I tried the commandappleshift to get rid of my preferences, but that didn't help. Does anyone have any tips?

Ok for some reason it decided to start working again. I reinstalled the updates from Adobe..then opened a new file, saved it out, opened it again. And it opened so then I tried opening a jpeg and it opened.
It seems to be working find now..good LORD, ***.

  • Photoshop not opening double clicked files anymore?

    Hi all...
All of a sudden my copy of Photoshop CS1 has stopped opening files when they are double clicked in the finder or passed any other way. The only way I can get PS to open a file is by opening them from it's File menu! Draging a file to it's dock icon or selecting "edit in external editor" in iPhoto all no longer work when they used to before.
All of these actions start up PS but that is as far as it goes, it fires up and then just sits there!
Any suggestions as to why this might be? This sort of problem used to be sorted by rebuilding the desktop in OS 9. Is there a similar procedure for OS X?
    Thanks in advance.

The fix is to reinstall Photoshop. You are missing a file called Adobe Unit Types which should be located in the ScriptingAdditions folder in your Library folder on your Macintosh HD.

  • Photoshop not opening any of my video files. Help!

Up until yesterday, my Photoshop CC has been able to open all my video files for me to make gifs with them. Today I tried a video file and I get the error message "Cannot open this file". I even tried a video file I just made a gif yesterday and I get the same message. I rebooted, same message. I do have the most recent version of QuickTime installed and I am able to play the video files on there. I've even tried opening the file in Bridge and sending it over to Photoshop. Still nothing. I've tried multiple video files in .avi, .mov, .mp4 and MPEG-4 format and nothing is working. I've read several posts where people are having the same problem I've tried all of the soultions to no avail.

    Hi olivias,
It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):
