Photoshop not printing to Epson R2400 in Snow Leopard

Hi there
I can print from Microsoft Word and Textpad fine. But Photoshop CS4 will not print anything to my Epson R2400. The job briefly appears in the queue, then disappears, with no error message.
When I try and Preview from inside the Epson Print dialogue, it just shows a blank page, so I'm pretty sure it's Photoshop that's at fault, as Previewing a similar job from Microsoft Word turns out fine.
Has anyone else had this error and found a way to fix it?

I've the exact same problem - though I'm using Lightroom 2.4 (64 bit) and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac.
Printing from Textpad & Pages works fine - but every print from Lightroom and Photoshop Elements just disappears (like Monkeytennis2 described).
I've tried different drivers: the new 6.57 - and the older 6.12 (via Rosetta). The Gutenprint 5.2.3 works, but the quality is just miserable.
This is indeed a strange thing ... and I hope someone has an idea how to fix it.
EDIT: has anyone tried this http://forums.adobe.com/message/2215478 ... ?

  • Iphoto will not print to Epson r2400

After downloading the most recent updates from Apple, I can no longer print from iphoto on my epson r2400 photo printer. I am running the latest drivers from the epson website but to no avail. I have even redownloaded the drivers and reinstalled them.
Whenever I try to print a picture the only things that happen is the printer begins to make noise like it is going to print and then I get a red exclamation point on the printer icon in the dock and a message saying "jobs stopped." Prior to this download everything worked fine in both iphoto and photoshop elements.
I also have an hp printer hooked up that I only use to print documents and it works fine. Any help someone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions (and go Tigers!). Try removing the printer drivers with Printer Setup Utility and then reinstall them. If that doesn't help you can run Printer Setup Repair (available at VersionTracker.com) and see if that won't help.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Problems printing from Epson RX500 in Snow Leopard

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro. I downloaded the software update for my Epson photo RX500. Every time I try to print, I get an error message which says "/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed" Does anyone know what this means, and more importantly, how to fix it? Thanks for any ideas.

I too have an Epson Stylus Photo RX500. Also just bought the new iMac with Snow Leopard. I downloaded Apple’s driver and it was installed by the system. The printer and copying are working just fine, BUT I cannot get the software for the scan to open. It comes to the dock, bounces, then disappears. I went to the Epson web site, but didn’t see any help there. It does seem that Epson has given up supporting Apple’s new computers. That, or they are just behind times. :-D I am going to try to send them an e-mail and hope that I get an answer. Frustrating, isn’t it!!

  • Printing in LR2 to Epson R2400 in Snow Leopard

I have just installed LR2 on a new iMac with 10.6.2.
Printing to R2400 does not work - the printer/driver reports back that media is not correctly loaded.
    (Borderless 10 * 15 cm paper).
However, the very same settings work fine in Aperture, as well as in ordinary office type applications
(except it is a bit stupid to print docs on photo paper).
The printer starts, does some preliminary work, but does not load the paper.
    What should be done??
    Thanks for assistance!

I use LR2.6 on a MacPro with 10.6.2 and the driver below, and it works just fine. You need Rosetta to be installed though.

  • Pages 09 not printing graphics since updating to snow leopard

I've updated to 10.6.2 but I am unable to print templates with graphics to my Xerox 6520 DP printer. Reloaded the drivers but still not working. Will go ck with Xerox to see if they are issuing a new release driver or not. I tried opening a template within Pages and I get the same result of "error printing" no number along with it. Tried doing a save as PDf and get the same printing error. Anyone have any ideas?

Repair permission is something I do after a major installation. Do that.
Are you able to print from other applications, i.e. TextEdit?
If not, can you print from another account? You can create a new account from Accounts in the System preferences.
It might be the driver that needs an update but that is outside my knowledge.

  • How do i run my epson stylus r2400 with snow leopard?

i recently updated my imac with the snow peopard software, but now my epson r2400 stylus printer will not work with the computer. at first the color was off, adding a blue cast and over saturating. so i went to epson and did additional updates as suggested in other posts. one i did this, the printer would not work at all as if the computer wasn't even connected. is there a way to run my r2400 with snow leopard or is time to upgrade my printer? and if so, what is a comparable printer that would also run with mounain lion?
    thanks!

    Hello taracass3,
You may want to remove any existing queues for the printer in your Print & Fax preferences pane, then re-add the printer. If it's still not working correctly, I'd recommend resetting the printing system.
    To delete a Print Queue
Click the print queue you would like to remove from the list in the "Printers" pane.
Click the - (minus) button below the "Printers" pane.
Click "Delete Printer" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.
To reset the printing system (if necessary)
Control-click or right-click a print queue in the "Printers" pane.
Choose "Reset printing system..." from the contextual menu.
Click "OK" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.

    Thanks for the follow up.
Barbara Brundage in the Photoshop Elements Forum will probably have the answer to your Photoshop Elements Epson scanner issue. Look into that Twain driver. She will give you good input on all this.
Also, see your other thread about Adobe telephone contact information. I have posted in that other thread also.

  • Printing with an HPLaserjet960c and Snow Leopard

Anybody got any ideas how to get my (excellent) HP 960c to work properly on SL? Have tried the 9800 driver, but this only works on certain jobs. Is it possible to put the old Leopard driver back on the SL, and how?
    Thanks

Same here...can you help with the solution? I have not used my Epson r2400 in a very long time and am having printing quality issues. It appears I'm not getting enough of the standard black ink in the prints.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • Can't print from Intel Mac w/Snow Leopard to HP 2600

Can't print from Intel Mac w/Snow Leopard to HP 2600.  Upgraded from OS 10.4 and printer showed on printer list along with an Epson scanner. but continually shows printer as offline.  I finally deleted the HP Color Laserjet 2600n from the printer list.  When I attempted to re-install it, it doesn't find the printer at all.  I haven't attempted to use the scanner.  I also went to HP and downloaded the driver, no luck.  I've restarted the computer multiple times, tried it with the printer on, and printer off, as well as pulled the usb cable in and out both ends.  No error message on the printer display and it gpes through normal warmup until it shows the green light.  I run software update and it shows no updates needed.  Help!

When you press print the first window is pretty basic.
When you select print on that the next window should have an advanced option.
Click that and see if any of the options in the 3rd dropdown box allow you to specify the 'paper tray'.
    AC "
In this new windaow, click "advanced", go to "paper type/quality" and choose " best" and a photo paper. Then you will be able to choose a paper source (photo tray).
Once you have these settings, under presets do "save as", and you can choose the preset instead of going to advanced.
If you have the latest software and drivers downloaded from HP, this will work.

    Hi Donald,
No it doesn't erase anything by default, it does what we used to call an  Archive and Install feature, which can give you a new OS, yet preserve your files and settings if you have enough room on your HD...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
But it does it automatically unless you specifically erase the Disk, but will replace Tiger completely for the OS & several Apple Apps like Safari, Mail, etc, yet preserve your old settings for those!
If you think you may need Tiger to run any APPs that do not work in SL/10.6, then clone or backup first.
I would recomend 2 things before installing though...
Make sure you have enough RAM & HD space.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the new Mac OS X SL/10.6 Install Disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

  • Well, my macbook (alumminium late 2008) started to be too laggy, so I decided to erase the Macbook HD. What I did not know is that my Superdrive is not working, so i could not re-install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. What to do?

Well, lately my Macbook (Alumminium, late 2008) started to be too laggy. So I decided to erase Macbook HD, and reset it to the factory config. What i did not know was that my SuperDrive is not working... So I could not re-install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. What to do?

I'm not familiar with the 2008 Macbook, but will it boot from and external drive?  If so, non-Apple CD/DVD drives are not expensive and can be very useful.  A bootable USB flash drive might also work for you.  Again, I'm not familiar with the 2008 Macbook.
    Good luck,

  • Printing to Epson R2400 - Lightroom 1.3 vs Photoshop CS2

I'm printing a fair amount of B&W images in Lightroom using Velvet Fine Art paper and Advanced B&W Management in the Epson printer driver. As instructed by Epson, the printer setting in Lightroom is "Managed by Printer", which should be correct, right, except that my printed images are coming out a little darker than my calibrated monitor suggests they should be.
Epson technical support said that some users are having difficulty printing from Lightroom to the R2400, and suggested that I try printing from Photoshop instead. So, using the same settings in Photoshop, and reprinting the image, I did notice a difference.
I'm wondering, are there any printing issues between Lightroom 1.3 and the Epson R2400 at this point in time. If not, why would the same image come out differently in Photoshop if the same printer settings are being used?

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes when I try to print from Epson R2400

    Hi,
For no reason that I can see, when I try to print from my Epson R2400, Photoshop CS3 crashes.
It was working fine up to yesterday with no issues.
I have re installed the drivers etc but no use.
I also cannot choose Printer Manages Colors, as it is now greyed out.
When the the Printer dialogue opens and I click on the Page Set up I get the Error that "Photoshop CS3 has encountered a problem and needs to close"
    Any ideas please?

    Thanks for the replies.
I understand now that the procedure is probably the reason.
I was just experimenting as LAB colours are colours we see through our eyes, while RGB, CMYK etc are "computer" colours and so I use LAB colours a lot, before switching back to RGB.
I normally switch to LAB mode and click on the Lightness channel, then play with adjustments of that channel. This time I decided to mess around and see what would happen if I removed all channels except the Lightness one....
Converting to greyscale for me is not enough unfortunately and LAB B+W provides much better contrast and tone than hitting CTRL+Shift+U to greyscale.
Again, I understand what you say, my point being though that Photoshop should not crash because I incorrectly remove the channels, perhaps a warning to tell me I can't do it would be better.
I'll pass this onto Adobe anyway.
    cheers

    • All print commands are greyed out and unavailable — even to call up the printer commands cannot be done.
The printer printed fine until about 2 weeks ago when this error message appeared.  Printing continues from Pages, I-photo, preview etc. —  only Photoshop fails.
The printer has been turned on and off, as have open documents been closed and open etc..   Preferences reset.  Repeatedly I have read through blogs and forums and attempted to contact Adobe — all without results
Epson support struggled to find reason and several solutions were tried and they assume this is an Adobe problem.

  • Epson R2400 (and maybe other Epson Printers) and Snow Leopard:  A Solution

I installed Snow Leopard over the weekend and everything seemed to go fine, except the re-installation of my Epson R2400.  It didn't work.  The Epson Web site provides Snow Leopard assistance for the R2400, but it is counter-intuitive.  The following will save you time.
First disconnect your printer from the computer.
Second, go to Mac system preferences, Printers and Fax and delete the Epson printer from the list.
Third, put your Snow Leopard disc back in your Mac and when the dialog comes up, select optional installations folder (or something like that--I don't have it open right now).  Then check Rosetta and install it.
Fourth, go to the Epson Web site.  You need to download a new set of drivers.  Here is where it becomes counter-intuitive.  You would think you should use the first driver and utility package listed, which is referred to as the Combo package.  It refers to Snow Leopard (10.6) and it is the newest one.  But you would be wrong using such simple logic.  You want what is now the second one driver in the list--Printer Driver v.57, which also meets the system requirements.
Fifth, download v.57, install it, reconnect your printer and it prints just fine (I've only done one print so we will see).
I don't know whether the other Epson high-end printers contain such loopy instructions, but if you are confronted with a choice between a combo pack and a simple one, you might try the simpler one first.
Hope this saves someone some time and aggrevation.
    Jack B. Siegel
P.S.  This is not a completely new driver written for Snow Leopard--that may come sometime down the road or may not).  This, so I am told, is a Power PC driver and Rosetta (as in Rosetta stone) is a utility that translates it so that it can be used on an iMac.
As a consumer, you should hate Epson.  They, as has the world, knew Snow Leopard was coming for at least a year.  By now they should have had all new drivers and this should have been worked out so that people didn't have to call technical support (a waste of my time and their's).  Since the Epson R2400 is discontinued, they apparently don't feel compelled to provide premium service and updates for it.  I bought mine about a 1.5 years ago.  They should not abandon products this quickly after discontinuing them.  As far as I can tell, they come out with a new printer in this price segment every couple of years.  I shouldn't have to buy a new printer every two years.
But as I said to myself yesterday as I struggled with the problem:  If I can't print, I can't buy ink.

I am sure your advice will help Mac users, however, my comment is on a different front. I remain fascinated at the extent to which Mac users refuse to blame Apple when they have problems with their OS.  Many Epson drivers don't work, many HP drivers don't work, Cisco VPN (supposedly built into the OS) doesn't work for some, there are problems with PS CS4 and LR, other are having problems with Parallels Desktop, some are struggling to get AT&T's Laptop Connect card software to function, and Nikon has a warning up to not install the new OS if you want to use Capture NX2.  Actually, do a search and you will find lots of complaints.  Perhaps instead of just blaming Epson, HP, Adobe, etc., one might want to bring the producer of the OS into the equation.  It certainly sounds like Apple was not working with some of its major software partners as closely as they should.  It is hardly the case that Apple has a perfect record in this area anyway - there are reasons why there is a 64 bit version of PS CS4 for Vista/Windows 7 and not for 10.X.  Of course, at least for companies like Adobe, Epson, Hp, Nikon, etc., they are also pushing to finish drivers and updates for Windows 7.  Perhaps Apple should have factored that in when they pushed to beat Microsoft to release.
Leaving all of that aside, anyone who adopts any OS on the date of release 1) needs to do their homework to make sure the stuff they use will work, and 2) should expect that at least a few things won't function the way they want. That is a fact of life for early adopters, and should be considered even more likely to be the case in the middle of a recession that has sucked resources away from companies.  Early adoption of any new technology, whether it be an OS, app, new computer, new camera, or things like a blue ray DVD player comes at some cost.
BTW, as a legal user of the Windows 7 RTM, I have found that PS CS4 and LR function exceptionally well and my Epson printer drivers work without issue - none of the apps or drivers have (as yet) even been updated for Windows 7.  At least from my perspective, that would suggest that Mac users might want to turn at least a bit to the producer of their OS, and how it handled the development and release of 10.6, before laying all of the blame for problems at the feet of the hardware and software partners....
