Photoshop not-so-extended?

I purchased and installed CS4 Production Premium, which is suposed to include Photoshop Extended. However, there is nothing to indicate that the version of Photoshop that was installed is Extended. I can't open 3ds files. There's no 3D menu as I see in videos. In the installer it says "Adobe Photoshop CS4". Nothing about Extended. I don't get it.
Anyone have any suggestions on the matter?

Did you ever run a trial of PS CS4 on the system? If so, and you let it time out, the program may have gotten locked into Standard. For that, one of the suggestions on resetting the licensing system may work (search for "licensing for this product has stopped working" on the support pages). Other than that - yes, try a call. You're entitled and while the phone support isn't glorious, it should at least be able to help you with that.

You will never be able to open your raw files from your new camera in CS4.
You need version 8.7.1 of the Camera Raw plug-in (ACR), which only runs in CS6 and higher.
You need to locate, download, install and run the free, stand-alone application Adobe DNG Converter on each batch of raw files from that camera, in order to convert them to raw DNG files that can be subsequently opened by ACR in CS4.
Remember you need to launch and run the DNG Converter on each folder (not files) containing your Canon raw files. THe DNG Converter doesn't do it magically for you just sitting on your HD.
Or you can upgrade.

Photoshop CS5.1 Extended: Could not complete your request because there are too many Files Open

I saved a file last night and now this morning I get an error message stating: "Photoshop CS5.1 Extended: Could not complete your request because there are too many Files Open. Try closing some windows and try again.". I've rebooted the system and made sure Photoshop was the only program running and that there were no other files open prior to trying to open my file. I increased Photoshops ram usage, checked the OpenGL settings, 3D and VRAM settings, cleared my temp files and am at a loss for opening this file.
System Specs:
Win 7 64
6 core I7 processor
32gb Ram
3GB VRAM
600gb free space on 7200 rpm drive
File specs:
1 3D object replicated maybe 5 times (yes, I should have rasterized them, and will do that to 4 of them if I get the file open)
Maybe 8 textures
Not sure how many total layers.
Is there anyway to get Photoshop to reopen this file?

No, more VRAM is useless. I had the same thought as you so I tried with a friend's computer with 3GB of VRAM for 8GB RAM (mine has 1GB VRAM for 16GB RAM). Still got the same error message. Sorry guys but our files are lost until Adobe fix the error in Photoshop code. I hope in the future they will find a way to either fix this error or give a clear limitation, it is really a shame such a dangerous problem exists and persists for more than 3 photoshop gen.
Still you may be able to have at least a flat image of your latest file by trying to open the file as smart object. I started my work over by doing that. Not a lot but better than nothing.
However for my new file I am trying something different : Each time I think a 3D file is final, I do not rasterize it but make it into a smart object and save the new smart object into a single separated .psd file. If any change is needed I can still edit all of my 3D objects by opening them separately. So far it works, the global file is lighter with few to no 3D objects inside but I will not say it is a 100% no-risk method yet.
Last advice I can give everyone : Before closing the file you are working on, save it as a copy (File / Save as... and check 'As copy' in the options below) then with your main file still open, try to open the copy. You may need a lot of memory if your file is heavy but still if the dreaded error message appears when you try to open the copy then remove or rasterize some 3D objects in your main one. Save again as copy and try to open the copy until you do not get the message anymore.

Which Apple computers can run Photoshop CS 6 Extended?

I'm buying a new computer, but I need one that can run Photoshop CS 6 Extended with the video and storyboard features. My 2011 Macbook Pro 13' without discrete graphics was not able to, but my mid 2010 Macbook Pro 15' was. I want to make sure that my new computer would be able to run the program. Can somebody help me? Is the new Macbook Air (or the one from last year) okay? What about the Macbook Retina 13' or 15'? Thank you so much!

this Adobe page lists the system requirements for Photoshop CS 6 Extended. It looks as though VRAM might have been the stumbling block for your 13-inch MacBook Pro; do you know how much RAM was installed in it? Apparently Photoshop CS 6 Extended requires 512 MB of VRAM, and your 13-inch MacBook Pro would only allocate 512 MB to its integrated graphics if it had at least 8 GB of RAM installed. If VRAM was the stumbling block, then a Mid 2013 or Early 2014 MacBook Air with 8 GB of RAM would definitely have enough graphics memory allocated. (I don’t know if one with 4 GB of RAM would have enough; it might.) Similarly, an Early 2013 or Late 2013 MacBook Pro with at least 8 GB of RAM would meet the graphics memory requirement; I don’t know if one with 4 GB would or not.

Nowhere during the installation does it give me the option to select the previous version I purchased! This is a new install on a new computer because my other computer no longer works. There is no option for me to select CS6 PS (NON EXTENDED) on the download from Adobe! When I install it only installs the extended version and tells me my serial number is valid but not for the extended. When you provided the link to the page that has the downloads, all that loads is the extended version. Can you please give me a link to the CS6 (not extended) so I can get back to work? I also was able to get the hard drive out of my computer that no longer works and put it on my new computer I'm trying to install CS6 on and the installer gave me NO OPTIONS to enter my old serial#.
This is beyond frustrating!!!! I have a computer go out on me, and have to buy a new computer, then when I try to install CS6 PS it will not install. In the meantime I'm trying to keep my small business going to stay in business. I can't call any one from adobe. All I can do is send emails to get this resolved and wait.

Do you have the original discs? If so, they should have the serial number that you need for installation.
If you do not have discs but have a serial number, you can preobably acquire the trial version from the page linked below...

Cannot open RAW format pictures from Nikon D3300 on Photoshop CS5.1 Extended

I recently purchased a Nikon D3300. I have Photoshop CS5.1 Extended for my PC. I am unable to open pictures taken in RAW format. I downloaded and installed the DNG Converter version 8.6 off the Adobe website. This did not remedy the situation.
Anyone have any suggestions?

DNG Converter is an application. You need to open DNG Converter and tell it to select the FOLDER that contains your NEF files and then click convert
Don't try to select individual files, select the folder instead.

Is there a 3D rotate tool in Photoshop CS4 (non-extended)?

I have just installed Photoshop CS4 of my new iMac. Although I had been led to believe that even the non-extended version came with the 3D rotation tool, in fact, I can find no evidence of it! Was I misled? If so, I am sad. Please advise how I might find it, or even add it?

Photoshop CS4 (non Extended) has a Rotate view tool that works with support video cards to rotate the document canvas. Could that be what was mistakenly called out as 3D rotate tool. (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/features/?view=topnew) Depending on the configuration/age of your iMac model you may not se this.
All the 3D features in Photoshop are for Extended only. (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshopextended/?promoid=DRHXB)

I think I read that with 2013 the upgrade path would be shortened, so you are probably not eligible for upgrading anymore.
Apart from that the benefit of purchasing the current version of Photoshop naturally depends on what you are doing with Photoshop (both in terms of which features you use and how much you use the application overall).
Smart Objects have been improved quite a bit, Puppet Warp is an interesting feature, Configurator allows for the easy creation of custom Panels that can combine Tools, Commands, Actions etc., …
But to judge the programm yourself you could just install the trial – mind you, the trial is Photoshop Extended, so you may want to consult the Reference on which features you would not get with Potoshop Standard.
You might also want to look into Cloud Licensing – or at least »Adobe« wants you to …

at this point yes, you should uninstall everything migrated, clean and then reinstall properly using the installation files.

Reinstall Photoshop CS 3 Extended

I have added an extra large capacity hard drive to my XP Computer and cloned the original hard drive.
The Photoshop CS 3 Extended program on the new hard drive does not open.
How do I obtain an other copy of the Photoshop CS 3 Extended program as the original disk I have is scratched?

Right click on My Computer > Manage. The menu that opens should show Event Viewer. Click on Application and see if you can find it. Either Error (most likely) or Warning, not so severe as Error.
Don't be surprised to find warnings and Errors not connected, but look for specifics around the time of the crash. There may be a cluster.
