Photoshop opens Lightroom images in x32 not x64

I have had Lightroom 5 for sometime (now 5.2) and recently subscribed to Photoshop CC having used CS6. My OS is Windows 7 64bit. When I pick, in Lightroom the "Edit In" command the "Photoshop CC" choice at the top opens in X32 each time. Normally I need and use to get  X64. This I can only now get by picking "Edit in" Photoshop.exe.(the next choice in the list)  However, when this works (not always) I get the normal Lightroom dialogue box where I select edit with "lightroom adjustments." Not a major problem but then I get a security check and sometimes have to enter my adobe password etc. I have been in the registry (as suggested in a previous post) and all looks OK in the sense that the default path is Photoshop CC 64 bit. Should i uninstall and reinstall Photoshop CC (or Lightroom). Is this problematic with CC having moved CS6 away from my C drive.  Also how can I remove the Windows security banner from the 32 bit programme. It's not on the 64 bit programme?
Any advice gratefully received. thanks

Have a look at this linked Adobe document http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/edit-photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html
Also note, the actual version that Lightroom should open Ps in 64 bit mode by default but it can get confused if upgrade to latest version didn't go fully to plan.
Other info you might find useful when trying to locate the correct version
32 Bit is located: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop X\Photoshop.exe where X is your current version number (i.e. CS5, CS6 or CC).
64 Bit is located: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop X\Photoshop.exe

    Concerning Epson Printer 4880: after changing the Ink from Photo Black to Matte Black I'm not getting the Epson Software in Photoshop and Lightroom. I can not select the paper medium, I don't see my profiles. What is wrong?

    That is priceless!!!  Thanks!  I sure needed a good laugh after spending/wasting hours & days trying to either get my c6280 to give up on its Ink System Failure fixation, or find a decent replacement.  Unfortunately I need the Smart Web Printing feature that I guess only HP has, or I'd try a different brand. And now even HP has very few models with that available.
     My error msg is a little different from those previously stated, but close:  0xc18a0201.  Even tho there were frustrations with my c6280, I did like several of its unique features which are hard to find now under $100.  I hate how HP (& I suppose other brands also) are CONSTANTLY changing models & then of course ink cartridges.
    Oh heavens, I've had the c6280 a whopping 2 1/2 years!   I'm sure they want us poor slobs to have to buy a new one every year & a day!  To say nothing of the exorbitant prices for ink.  And now if this one is really dead in the water, I have SIX unused #02 ink cartridges which I cannot return---I got them in a combo pack, & for some reason have wound up with THREE lite pink & THREE lite blue cartridges, while having to buy extras of the other colors, that ran out before the others!!!   Yeah, & what's with that not being able to print in BLACK if a color runs out????
    Anyway I really loved your essay!   It's a classic!  And says it all!  I hate that we have to be 'slaves' to the electronic 'wonders'!!!

  • Photoshop Does Not Open Lightroom Image

    Every few weeks, when I open Lightroom, I cannot edit my images in Photoshop.  I'll select Photo->Edit in->Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5.  Photoshop then opens.  Instead of displaying the image I'd just been working on in Lightroom, Photoshop brings up the standard file "Open" dialog.  (I've learned that if I then try to open the image using this dialog, the TIFF file is not properly exported back to Lightroom.)  To the best of my knowledge, this does not happen if I tell LR to open the image in Photoshop CS4.  The only work-around I've found is to optimize the Lightroom catalog, shut down both LR and PS, and restart my Mac.  Sometimes it takes several tries -- eventually it will start working again.  Once I get the LR-PS linking re-established, it will continue to work properly for the remainder of my work session.
    Details: I'm running Lightroom 3.3 and PS 12.0.2 x64 on a Mac Pro.  My Lightroom catalog has around 11,000 images in it at the present time.
    Any suggestions would be appreeciated!  Thanks, Steve.

    Thanks for your suggestions.  I just found an earlier thread that suggested deleting both the Photoshop and Lightroom preference files.  I will try that.  I'll also try to update my version of PS.  (I have the CS5 updater running -- I'm surprised I don't have the latest version.)
    If those things don't work, I'll try reinstalling.  One of the frustrations with these intermittent problems is that you're never quite sure if you've fixed it.  I'll give your suggestions a shot, and then I just have to watch for a while and see if LR and PS will work together,

  • I've saved a 2 gigabite Photoshop  file (an illustration) to my desktop but when I dble-click on it , while Photoshop opens, the image does not.  It is still there  but how can I access it?

    AFter saving a very large file in photoshop Icant seem to call it up. DbLe clicking on the icon opens Photoshop but there is no evidence of the image. I have also triedaccessing it through the pull down menu in Photoshop and again, I can select it but it never appears. It's as though it is hidden somehow.

    Are you seeing anything in the layers panel when you open it?
    Can you open it in any other image editor or viewer?  2 GB is the upper limit for a psd. Maybe you should convert to tiff file format.
    Photoshop > File > Scripts > Image Processor will do this for you.

  • Opening Lightroom images in photoshop cs5 ACR

    Is there any way to edit Lightroom 3.0 images in Photoshop Cs5 ACR? If I choose Edit in Photoshop the image goes directly to photoshop and bypasses ACR. I have tried creating an ACR option in Preferences but cant find the ACR file. Can anyone help?

    No...and there is no reason to do so. Lightroom and Camera Raw share the exact same processing pipeline–assuming you are using the same rev version. The only way to take a raw image into Photoshop and use the Camera Raw dlog is to open as a Smart Object which will give you the SO version of Camera Raw inside the Photoshop document.

  • Photoshop open multiple image and add different texts

    Hi All,
    Hope you are all doing great. I just started doing photoshop scripting due to the requirement which I will mention in detail below.
    My scripting is knowledge is very basic so I was hoping you guys could be able to help me out with this.
    The requirment is that I have 100's of images which needs to be opened in photoshop and add text based on the image name then save the image as JPEG at 70 quality. For example:
    I have images named as below in my desktop folder,
    Image1.jpg
    Image2.jpg
    Image3.jpg
    Image4.jpg
    Image5.jpg
    Image6.jpg
    Image7.jpg
    Image8.jpg
    Image9.jpg
    Image10.jpg
    For the script, I think the easiest way is that if I define what image name are:
    image[1] = Image1.jpg
    image[2] = Image2.jpg
    image[3] = Image3.jpg
    image[4] = Image4.jpg
    image[5] = Image5.jpg
    image[6] = Image6.jpg
    image[7] = Image7.jpg
    image[8] = Image8.jpg
    image[9] = Image9.jpg
    image[10] = Image10.jpg
    and for text I have done this:
    text [1] = Image1
    text [2] = Image2
    text [3] = Image3
    text [4] = Image4
    text [5] = Image5
    text [6] = Image6
    text [7] = Image7
    text [8] = Image8
    text [9] = Image9
    text [10] = Image10
    So everytime when I run the script image1 will be added to the photoshop and the text name Image1 will be added (For this I think defining layer name would be better so I will gave "Imagetext").
    Then the image will be saved on a specific location on my desktop.
    I have all this plan on what I want to do but I don't know how to write the script using photoshop API and my limited javascript coding.
    So if you guys could help me out with this, that would be awesome. Hope to hear on this soon.
    Kind Regards,
    Zoogle

    Hi Ghoulfool,
    Thank you very much for taking your time in looking into my question.
    Also thanks for the script you've provided. Your script works perfectly close to my requirements but there are few minor addon that I would like to request please.
    My apologies for not being very clear
    First of all to answer your questions:
    Image size varies but mostly between 1200-1000 pixels.
    Good question regarding text size, I would like to control the size of the text based on how long the character length is.
    Position varies so I would like to adjust it manually or if I could definie within the script that would be superb.
    The images open in new window rather that staying in the currently opend psd, I have other layers which I need to keep it as static and use the script to add the image between these layers.
    I wouldn't mind if all these 100's of images stay in current psd as layers.
    I was hoping if possible I would have more control over what text I would like to put on the image.
    Below is the example , I am sure the code below is wrong but with my limited scripting that's all I could come up with
    This is the code that would be controlling what text/text size appear on images based on the i value:
    var publicPath = 'C:/Users/Username/Desktop/imagesavetest';
    var outputPath = publicPath;
    var imagetext = new Array();
    imagetext[0] = "imagetext0";
    imagetext[1] = "Apple";
    imagetext[2] = "imagetext2";
    imagetext[3] = "Pineapple";
    imagetext[4] = "Orange";
    imagetext[5] = "imagetext5";
    imagetext[6] = "imagetext6";
    imagetext[7] = "Berries";
    for (var i in imagetext) {
      textLength = imagetext[i].length;
      saveMyFile = imagetext;
      theText.contents = imagetext[i].toUpperCase();
      switch (true) {
        case textLength <= 9:
          theText.font = "Arial";
          theText.size = 38;
          theText.contents = imagetext[i].toUpperCase();
          break;
        case textLength > 9 && textLength <= 12:
          theText.font = "Arial";
          theText.size = 28;
          theText.contents = imagetext[i].toUpperCase();
          break;
      saveAsJPEG(outputPath,  saveMyFile);
      counter++;
    And to open files from the user defined location:
    var inFolder = new Folder("C:/Input")
    var image = new Array();
    image[0] = "image0.jpg";
    image[1] = "image1.jpg";
    image[2] = "image2.jpg";
    image[3] = "image3.jpg";
    image[4] = "image4.jpg";
    image[5] = "image5.jpg";
    image[6] = "image6.jpg";
    image[7] = "image7.jpg";
    for (var j in image) {
    if j=0 look for i=0 and add i value as text
    To simplify i'll open psd with layers, add image between existing layers and add text based on the text name which we defined in script.
    Sorry for long post, but hope I have not made this simple process confusing.
    Please do let me know if you have any questions. Hope you hear from you soon and Thanks for your time.
    Kind Regards,
    Zoogle.

  • Photoshop: "Open in 32-bit mode" not working on OS X/CS5

    i have done all of the following and still it open in 64 bit mode. what to do? i need 32bit mode.
    Select the Adobe Photoshop CS5 application file, installed by default in the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder.
    Choose File > Get Info, and select Open in 32 Bit Mode. (Deselect this option to run Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit mode)

    Is this a Mac?  THere may not be a 32 bit version.

  • Photoshop opens from the finder but not the photo.

    When I click on a photo in the finder, photoshop will open but not the photo. I have to open the photo THROUGH PHOTOSHOP. Not a big deal but terribly annoying and time consuming. Not sure what changed recently to cause this issue. I have jpegs and psds set to open with Photoshop—no problem there, just no photo when Photoshop boots up.

    Select the photo then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Open With section select Photoshop from the Default drop down menu. If you wish to apply this to all such files then click on the Change All button.

  • Deleting Lightroom images from drive, not simply removing them

  • Photoshop and Lightroom Images are Different - Much lower contrast

    When I export an image from either LR 3 or 4, or from Capture One, into Photoshop the images are very different.  Compared to the original image in LR/C1 the image in Photoshop has dramatically brighter shadows, and less contrast in general.
    Interstingly, if I make no adjustments in PS at all, and just save the file back to LR, the file looks like the original/correct image.
    It almost appears as if some sort of curves preset or other type of automated correction is being applied in PS.
    I don't think this is a color management issue - the monitor is calibrated with a ColorMunki, and the colorspaces in all programs are ProPhoto RGB.
    This is happening in CS5 and 6, so it is likely some sort of setting that I inadvertantly created.
    I uninstalled CS5 completely, and re-installed CS6, and also did the Command/Option/Shift setting reset, but the issue remains.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Here is the Color Settings:
    Here is an image in LR
    and the same image in PS6 - look at the shadows on the left behind the rope

  • OS defaults to x32 not x64

    Hi. I have just inherited a ProBook 6560b and have reinstalled from the recovery partition so as to delete the previous owner's stuff. The problem is it installs as a 32 bit OS (Windows 7) instead of an 64 bit OS. Is there anyway to force the install to an x64 OS? The thing runs like a dog on a clean install and I can only use 2.94GB of the 4.00GB installed memory. Cheers.

    To get full 4gb memory you need 64bit O/S. To do this you need a Windows 7x64 O/S for this formatting. You can upgrade to Windows 7x64 but for best setup is to do a clean setup in Windows 7x64 O/S.

  • Lightroom 4 settings are not carried over to Photoshop CS5

    When opening a raw and unedited file using the 'Edit in Photoshop' menu selection in Lightroom 4 the image opens as expected in Photoshop CS5. The images seem to look identical to me. If I then exit from PS without doing anything to the photo I am prompted to save the file. I do so and return to LR4. Comparing the original raw file and the tif created by PS they appear to be identical.
    Next, I make some whitebalance, exposure, and cropping changes to the raw image in LR4. 'Edit in Photoshop' opens the image in PS CS5 but the image appears different. Cropping is there but other adjustements seem to me to be lost. Again clost the image without any editing in PS CS5 and am prompted to save the file. I do so and the saved tif appears in LR4 just as it looked in PS CS5. However they are different.
    I'm using a Windows 7 64  bit computer.

    The most significant point is that the first time you go to Photoshop with an image, you start with one image inside LR and you end up with two - the original image, and a brand new edited version. Generally this is "Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments"; in other words, something that looks the same as the LR starting image currently does, as a starting point for PS alteration.
    Subsequent times you take this edited version of the image back to Photoshop, the Edit In.. feature automatically switches to "Edit Original" as default behaviour. This is so that you don't get a whole family of fresh image versions appearing in LR, and a whole cluster of TIFF files on disk. Just the same image progressively changing over time, as PS work is done.
    A PS-edited version seen newly in LR, starts out with zero applied LR adjustments - so it appears at first, exactly as PS has just saved it.
    Say (to help clarify this ) you make a virtual copy at this point - and apply some more LR adjustments onto that. You can now see three versions: [1] the starting original which did not go to PS; [2] an untouched version of the PS edit, which has so far been left alone by LR; and [3] another version of the same PS edit, this time with some new LR adjustments overlaid.
    If you push the image back to PS for some more editing, save that, and return to LR then both versions [2] and [3] are going to update so as to reflect this later editing. That is because both are deriving their underlying content in a live manner from the same file on disk, which has since changed.
    While you are editing any file within PS you are always viewing the actual content of that file. This will naturally look the same as the untouched LR version [2] does. But it will not look the same as the adjusted LR version [3] does - because the live LR settings which cause [3] to look different to [2], are not included in the PS file which they share. They are separate from that - they are being nondestructively applied and displayed on-the-fly by Lightroom only, and in this example, only in the case of one of the two derived versions.
