Photoshop or bridge to open photos in
just getting started better to open photos in photoshop or bridge
@AV8TOR,
Good question. I think it's a matter of preference. Although Bridge has a _lot_ of capabilities, the thing I like most is that you can see thumbnails for camera raw images.
Also, a lot of people use mini-Bridge. Here's a link to more info on mini-Bridge.
Hope this helps,

What is your version of Adobe Camera Raw, Bridge, and Photoshop?
What files are you trying to open in ACR? If Raw, for what camera model? -
Photoshop CC freezing when opening photo(s)
When opening photos into Photoshop CC, photoshop somewhat freezes. It appears that it is trying to open the file, but nothing happens. I have tried to let it sit for about 30 minutes, to let it runs it course, with no progress. This happens when opening a single photo or opening multiple photos at a time. The only way to get out of this, is to Control, Alt, Delete. I have tried closing out of Photoshop and going back in and even rebooting the computer completely, with no luck. Each time, I get the same thing. This all seems to have started after I ran the newest update.
Have you trashed the preferences as mentioned here?

I have recently updated the new apps via creative cloud now photoshop and bridge no longer work, they open then say they have encountered a problem and close, I also tried opening the old version of photo shop but getting the same result
What OS version? What's the exact error? Exactly when does the error occur? What previous versions? What is on the screen when the error displays? Does Photoshop get fully open?
Try opening Photoshop holding down Shift key immediately to turn off plug-ins. Lots of good suggestions here: Photoshop: Basic Troubleshooting steps to fix most issues -
How do I change the default from CS6 to Photoshop CC when I open a photo from Bridge CC?
How do I change the default from CS6 to Photoshop CC when I open a photo from Bridge CC?
Thank you. That works when I double click a RAW image, (opens in ACR then when I open from there it goes to CC) but when I double click a jpg it goes straight to CS6. I'm hoping there is a way to change the default, but haven't found yet. I don't want to remove CS6.

Opening photo from bridge into photoshop converts to smart object
Instead of opening the psd-file normally from bridge into photoshop the file converts to smart object.
I used to work with CS3 where double-clicking in Bridge on a psd-file would open it in Photoshop. Now, when I double click in Bridge (CS6) it opens a "quick time pro" file, which I definitely don't want. When I use the right mouse to "place in Photoshop" it does so, but then automatically converts the file into a smart object, which I don't want either. What need I do to open a psd-file in Bridge as normal psd-file in Photoshop?
Thanks in advance for help.
EVAMLG0507Hi C. Pfaffenbichler
yes, there is a "Photoshop Document" in the list, but it has not
association. when I click on the little arrow on that line it "searches"
and shows all the files in the "program X86" on the C-drive. but I don't
know what to associate it with, or said differently, I don't know what file
in "programX86" to associate it with.

PS Bridge not opening my photos !!!
Two days ago I ran PS CC and used bridge to browse and open photos in camera raw. Now all of a sudden, when I try to open a raw file in Bridge I get the message "Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature." WTHell !!! Come on Adobe. You guys are brighter than this. This should never happen ! And the fact is that I've been a cloud member for over a year and all payments are current !!!!
Something might have glitched. Open Photoshop, Illustrator or even InDesign. Whatever apps you already have installed. Sign in if need be.

Opening photos in bridge on imac
I can't seem to open photos in bridge from my iMac - I just switched from PC to mac
For files you see in Bridge:
Go to Bridge > Preferences > and from the Left Pane, choose File Type Associations
For your raw files, jpegs, and other graphics files, choose Adobe Photoshop in the right pane.
Click OK
For importing Photos from your camera and sdcard:
Open Bridge
File menu > Get Photos from Camera
It will ask if you want Bridge to do this in the future. Say "Yes" and check "Don't Ask Again"
Let me know how it goes.
In the Mac Finder
Cmd i > Open with > choose Photoshop Click on the Change All button -
Open photo directly in Bridge ... ?
Hi,
is there a chance to open photos directly in bridge? If I double click a JPEg, its always opened in Photoshop (or I can choose another application, but not brisge). Has Brdige the opporunity to view a photo directly in fullscreen? I do not wnat to edit it or something like this - just browse the photos in a fullscreen like way.
ThanksBridge is an image management aid. It is not able to open files, other than in another application.
You can preview files at large size though. Make sure you have the Preview Panel open.
Experiment with the different workspaces.
I cannot be more specific because you don't say what version you have. -
Had a hard time all of sudden opening photos in PS via Bridge. Updated all my software and now halfway through editing a photo, my actions don't work properly. Should I remove all programs and re-install?

I cannotg open photos in Photgoshop CS6. I can open them in Photoshop Browser and Camera Raw, but cannotg open them in Photoshop. Blue circle comes on for about three seconds, then changes to a plus sign, and nothing else happens. Please help. Adobe Photoshop is either unwilling or unable to help me with this problem.
Nobody can help you without some exact system info and details on what photos exactly.

Photoshop CS3 - Opens photos very slow
Alright so I have an interesting one I am hoping someone can help me with... I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 (I know, a little behind). I have been using CS3 since it came out and love it - however recently, and unfortunately I don't have any real time-frames off the top of my head, it is incredibly slow to open photos.
Typically I drag/drop a photo from my folders into Adobo to begin my editing based on the pictures I see fit to edit. The pictures come from a Canon T2i - I dump them to my local HDD, and then move the photos I wish to edit into Photoshop. The average file size is about 7mb, so they're not huge. Now when I open the pictures, it takes, on average, about a minute and a half per picture to open. During this time Adobe is non-responsive as in menus, navigation, etc... - I can minimize and maximize, it doesn't freeze or anything. Just sits there while it attempts to open these photos (using no more than 3% processor time). It does eventually open them, no errors.
This problem happens whether I drag drop into photoshop, open from the file menu, whether they're RAW images, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PSD, 10mb in size or 10kb in size, etc...
I know it's not the system, everything else runs great.
The system is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system, 8GB of Ram, dual core process (1.86ghz each), dual nVidia GeForce GTX 275 (512mb each) video cards that are running with nVidia's latest drivers.
The system is installed on a Western Digital 10,000RPM HDD and I have 6TB of hard-drives (all internal SATA) where my files are stored. I'd fine it hard to believe if it's the system.
I can play graphic intensive games without glitches, run Microsoft ICE for image sewing (without hesitation), and edit/dump HD videos without problems into Sony Vegas Video.
I have attempted to reset of Adobe Photoshop by doing the CTRL+ALT+SHIFT while loading and allowing complete reset. I turned of all Windows 7 effects (even though this issue never happened before when I had Windows 7 since launch). I set the Photoshop.exe to the highest priority in task manager, alloted 88% RAM to it through Adobe preferences, and ensured that both processors are given full attention it. Still nothing.
Has anyone experience this before? Outside of un-installing and re-installing (which is next) - I can't think of anything else...themrkik wrote:

Just to be clear, did you get a prompt from Photoshop confirming preferences deletion? I ask because sometimes folks think they've done a reset without having seen that dialog, and that's not the case. You have to be VERY quick to get Photoshop to notice you've pressed these keys during startup. If it doesn't prompt you, you weren't quick enough.
Some other things to think about:
Is your default printer offline? Is there any printer installed in your system that's offline?
Do you have the Twain driver installed but a scanner is turned off or missing?
Are there any network drives established but the network resource is offline or unreachable?
What 3rd party plug-ins do you have installed into Photoshop? Is it possible one of them is not initializing properly?

Open with photoshop in Bridge CC
When I try to open a file in bridge CC with the command "open with photoshop (default)", I get the message "windows cannot find photoshop CS4, make sure you typed the name correctly and try again". Yes, I had CS4 a long time ago, before CS5 and 6. How can I get bridge to open my files in photoshop CC?
Ok, I go to edit > preferences > file type associations. It shows me a list of file types. I suppose I have to go to canon camera raw in there. It says photoshop, so I click the little arrow there It gives me three choises: photoshop, COM surrogate 6,1 and browse. I choose browse. That brings me in my program files. There I click on adobe and than what? Do I click adobe photoshop CC and open or do I have to go further and click a folder within CC? I hope I make myself clear enough, its difficult for me in English.

Bridge not opening when doing a browse in bridge from Photoshop cc 2014.. Bridge opens fine on its own..
Again, thanks for the quick answer but in searching around the web I found someone respond that it looked like a issue that would go away with an uninstall and reinstall of PS CC 2014. I did that and rebooted my PC and the round trip now works. I am guessing that the problem was caused when the new version was added without the 2 earlier versions being removed. When I remeoved the older 2 versions, I expect the link was scrambled. Now all is ok.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 will not open photo files
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 will not open photo files
You are rude, to say the least. It is adobe's fault for marketing it as compatible. Yet another reason why I want nothing to do with adobe. The fact they marketed it as compatible when it is not is what I have a problem with. I am not blaming the software, I am blaming the company.
