Photoshop pdfs change canvas size when being viewed in Acrobat
Hi, I am an issue when with saving photoshop pdfs from photoshop cc. They look good when they are in photoshop but when I save them to a pdf and then try to view them in acrobat the page size changes. Usually it defaults to 8.5 by 11 regardless of the size I set up in Photoshop. Does any one know why this might be? I am using Photoshop cc and Acrobat 11 pro. I've seen this same problem happen to several of my clients as well.
How are you determining the page size in Acrobat? Please post a screenshot. If you have the word scaled up in your filename, you may have to do a view >> pixel aspect ratio >> square
IN acrobat dod a Commadn R to show rulers, is your file 8.5" x 11". This actually sound like a view settings problem in acorn bat, btiu not sure

Hi Guys, good product beginning however it's not as good as many of the other Adobe product's workspaces. I cannot change the size of the view during form design work, so it's a visual strain to work in Forms Central. Is there a way to modify the view (not affecting the width, size or font when presented on website or on paper)?
In Photoshop CC 2014 (Windows only) it is possible to use a setting of 200% to scale the UI. On some monitors it improves readability and on others it cuts part of the application screen. To give it a try go to:
Edit >> Preferences >> Experimental Features
Put a check-mark in the box and click OK
Then close PS and re-start for the change to take effect. -
Heres an example of my site im working on HERE I would like for the image on the landing page to stretch from edge to edge as needed when being viewed on larger screens. I know it's possible because it's done here I just don't know how to do it PLEASE HELP.
To achieve a similar effect, simply use the Rectangle tool to create a horizontal bar that snaps-to-fit the browser area in Design mode. Then use the Fill options to insert an image within the rectangle; you may also want to change the Fitting option to Scale to Fill or Tile/Tile Horizontally. Refer to the following screenshot.
Thanks,

Change paper size when printing
How to change paper size when printing pdf? No option for paper size appear.
That is a feature of AirPrint. If you do a Google search on "AirPrint paper size" you'll find documentation from major printer manufacturers. For example, this is copied from some HP documentation:
What paper and media sizes are supported?
With AirPrint, paper and photo media sizes are automatically selected depending on the application you are using on your Apple device, your HP ePrint printer, and the region in which you are using AirPrint. You do not have the option to select different paper sizes.
For example, from Apple’s Photo application, if the HP ePrint printer has a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses 4 x 6 inch photo media as the default paper size. If the printer does not have a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses letter-size paper. If you are printing from Apple’s Safaribrowser, letter-size paper is the default paper size in the US region, and A4 is the default paper size in Europe.
AirPrint supports the following paper and media sizes:
Letter
Legal
A4
4 x 6 in photo paper
A6 photo paper -
Changing Canvas size to be smaller, is actually making it larger?
Hello,
OK, I have changed Canvas size a thousand times in my life and this has never happened before.
I have an image that is 1600 px wide and I want to trim the sides to 1260. When I start to even type in the smaller size, the file size indicated is larger (that was my first suspicion that something was not right). And sure enough, it is making the image larger?
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
thanks
babsOMG ...I do!!!!!
I must be half asleep this morning!!!
Thank you!

How to resize photoshop image without changing canvas size?
When i had the older versions of photoshop i would change the image size and it would enlarge on my canvas for me to rearrange. Lately i realized on CC when i increase image size so does my canvas size. Is there anyway to prevent my canvas size from increasing too?
I am having what appears to be this same issue. I am using PS CC.
hello @ c.pfaffenbichler
I resized my image in image> image size.
Details:
I am not a ps expert but woefully self taught. However through much trial and error I have in my experience over the years, achieved some comfortability with the image size dialog box as well as the canvas size dialog box. SOME comfortability lol. That is, I feel that I understand what is going on most of the time and when flummoxed have studied adobe literature or read hundreds of posts here and elsewhere to gain additional knowledge which many times resolves the issue. I like digging and finding the answers.
In this case, my digging is done dug a giant hole and I am exhausted and found nuthin'.
I feel like I am going nutso.
In my mind,
1. There is the image I am working on
2. There is the canvas the image is sitting on
My expectation and previous experience is that I can change the Image size by going to Image > image size and this change does not affect the canvas size.
My expectation and previous experience is that I can go to Image >canvas size and change the canvas size and this does not affect the image size.
I could also use the Transform to resize the image which also, would not in my expectation, change the canvas size.
In the beginning of my workflow on this particular collage I did not have this issue, so that leads me to believe I did or am doing something to cause this rather than it being some kind of bug. But what do I know.
I thank you in advance for your assistance. -
Is there any options/addons for selecting/changing image size when viewing images?
When clicking to open images when on web pages there is no option to select size.
I'm looking at some pages that have images (mostly jpg) I like to compare and that is very hard when all images open in a size that normally fill most of the browser window.
So I wonder if there is some hidden options or addons for selecting image size when opening images for viewing?
I have tried Image resizer/scaler, image zoom and show picture with mix results. Image resizer/scaler and image zoom allow resizing of images, but when opening images on same tab as web page the white image "frame" that is visible when reducing image size is left in original size. This make viewing and opening other pages a hazard.
I'm grateful for any help...cheers :-)
Picture of white frame
http://s25.postimg.org/z1ubo6zun/Remove_Exterior_Fog_at_Skyrim_Nexus_mods_and_c.pnghehe no offense, but I'm not following the version rushing from Mozilla. I'm using many customizations and addons and it is a nightmare to change to a new version and practically impossible to use last version. Also the FIrefox history have shown that earlier versions have both been more stable and had better implementation of features.
Spending hours customizing and finding out that addons dont work with new version every time Firefox come with a new version , no thanks. For that to happen Firefox have to be more compatible across versions and more friendly toward customization in updates and new versions. I have used Firefox for at least 8-9 years with practically no security problems and one thing I have learned is: dont update or install next version if the version I have is working well.
Maybe I should have mentioned this in this question, that Im using v26 and that my FIrefox is heavily modified with addons and customizations.
'''Back to the subject'''
Anyway I dont think any of my customizations or addons should create a white frame behind images, but I'm asking to find out if you guys also get this white frame when resizing pictures to a smaller size after clicking images for viewing. -
Smart Objects...changing canvas size problem
When changing the canvas size of a smart object, the layer on the original document will distort visually since it doesn't update the size of the smart object.
Is there a solution to this, or an easy way to quickly update every instance of the smart object on the original doc?
To clarify: I know that you can change the dimensions of the smart object on the original doc and it'll fix it, my question is if there's a way to automatically have that happen and have the original doc smart objects respect your canvas size changes on the smart object doc.
Reproduce:
1) Draw a circle
2) Turn it into a smart object
3) Go into the smart object, change the canvas size by increasing the height of the canvas. The smart object should now have a circle with blank space above/below it.
4) Save the smart object
5) The circle on the original document will now be squished.
I'm using Photoshop CS5xg3 wrote:

When you change the canvas size of a document the only layer that will change is a backgroung layer for it does not support transparency so its pixels will be changed. However a background layer should not distort it may be cropped and have canvas added in which case the color of the empty canvas can be set in the canvas size dialog. All other layer including Smart Object layer should not chang at all. Layer positioning in relationship to the canvas and the new canvas size is set during the canvas size change. Layers can be any size and have any aspect ratio. Their sizes can be smaller, the same or larger then the canvas size. Even layer that can fit within a documents canvas size may be positioned so that all, some or none of the layer is over the documents canvas.
I do not know what you mean when you write the original document chages. A smart object layer has an embedded copy of an object. The original document is not touched. You can open the smart object layer embedded object in Photoshop by double clicking on the smart object icon in the layers palette smart object layer and change it size. And distort it f you wish. When you use Photoshop save. Photoshop will change the enbedded object in the smart object layer. You can also leave the embedded smaro object as is and change the smart object layer size and distort it using transform on the smart object layer itsself.
I think what you did was to open the smart object in photoshop change its canvas saze then save it. The updated smart object is realy round but you dont see that it is becaue it is being transformec ti fit the original documents canvas. If you do a Canvas size on the codument you will see the original docyment canvas size is not change and thet your now squaching a now changed taller object into a shorter canvas. With each Smart Obkect layer there is as associated transform.
No I was wrong I just tried that and it looks like the transform was not the problem as yo can see I dir a Ctrl+T so you can see the size of the smart object layer is now biger then the original document and is positioned centered canvas is still 300x300 white area in image -
Cropping + Changing Canvas Size
Hello,
I have a problem (because I'm a beginner in Photoshop), and it's that when I crop and image and try to change the canvas size - I change the size because I'm using another type of paper - (and anchor the image to the top left), the image looks like the way it was before the crop. Is there another way to do this? Am I doing it wrong?
ThanksOk, so, what I did:
New File 4x6 (in Custom)
Drag & Drop the picture to Photoshop (making a new layer in top of layer 0 or background)
Select the crop tool and arrange the picture like you want it to be seen after cropping it
After I have the picture cropped, I want to print it in a 4x6 paper, but when I click File>Print, the paper says 8.5x11 (which is the standard format)
Because I want it to be printed in 4x6 paper (so it can be correctly printed) I go to Image>Canvas Size and set the width and height of the canvas (in this case 4x6)
When I do this, the canvas becomes large again, but the picture looks like the way it was before the crop.
My question is if I'm doing this wrong, or if there's another way. Hope you understand. I added the pictures in order, just in case. -
Change canvas size in Final Cut Express?
I completed an animation in FCE before I realized that I did something foolish: My animation frames are shot in HD (1920x1080), but I failed to set my canvas size, which is NTSC. Now, when I export my animation, the video size is distorted.
Is there a way to change the canvas size of a movie so that it applies to existing sequences? Or, can a sequence's dimensions be changed? And, if not, can anyone recommend a workaround? I'm dealing with several thousand individual animation frames, so starting from scratch isn't an option for me.You can't. FCE is a fixed resolution editing application, either DV or HD at 1080 or 720.

Batch Process Change Canvas Size Buggy
I have 300+ products shots that need to go up to our website.
Using FW CS3 I was able to resize and optimize both full size
images and the thumbnails. The issue is due to our website setup
the thumbnails are expected to be exactly 100x100. If the canvas
size is irregular the image gets stretched or squeezed when served
up on the site.
So I created a custom action to set the canvas size to 100 x
100 with a white background and to expand from the center out. When
I run this manually everything is ducky. But when I add it to my
batch process the actual content of the thumbnails moves from image
to image. Some items are centered fine, some are too far left or
too far right (or high, low) some are shifted so much that they are
actually cut off to the left or right. There seems to be no rhyme
or reason to it.
Here is how the batch is set up:
It grabs the original file ( a press resolution PSD file) and
fit to size to 100 x 100. Then I run the command to set canvas size
to 100x100 white background. And then it exports it to optimized
jpeg. I have tried running the actions separately. And when I just
run the fit to size and optimization as a batch the thumbs look
fine no weird positioning. So I know it is the command.
Any ideas?Thankyou Heath
If I choose scale > scale to fit area > then choose a maximum width or height, that works for that part of the process.
Percentage doesn’t work, because I need them to be a particular size (either width or height, doesn’t matter , as long as nither of them exceeds 00px)
For the part that I then want to find the smallest measurement (width or height) and make a particular size, there doesn’t seem to be any way that I can find in FW to do that.
But, after searching on line, I found an app that does all that and more, its brilliant. It will find the largest side, the smallest side, or whatever and change it to what you want and rescale the other side to fit.

Edited PDF changes to Horizontal when Printing to PDF
We use Adobe Pro Online.
When my supervisor edits a PDF and then Prints to Adobe PDF (rather than saving) it is changing it to a Horizontal view. She claims she hasn't changed any settings, and that her print settings are not set to landscape. She also says that when she rotates the image back the way it should be and again tries to Print to Adobe PDF it again changes it to horizontal view. She said this just started a couple of days ago. Can anyone think of a reason why it might be doing this? When she saves or saves as it does not change to horizontal view.
My supervisor was taught to always Print to PDF instead of Saving. She claims it makes it indelible. I don't agree, I think she needs to use the protection settings, and save or save as. She is set in her ways, and wants to be able to continue doing it her way, but the horizontal view makes it unuseable. You can't do that. It's a setting of the printer used by the user on their computer, not of your file. The only way you can set this option is if the user prints the file via a button that you've added to it (in Acrobat), that uses a script that sets that option for them.
