Photoshop problem outer glow edge help ?
why are the edges like that?? the glow is not so strong
i tried cropping but that didn't do anything , those edges were still there. If I switch the technique from "softer " to precise it goes away.... But I need softer. Can someone Help me?
I tried to duplicate your feat but I could not get the same problem to show at the edges.
I have a hunch, though...
Expand your canvas. I'll bet you have some remnant part of the layer containing the Earth all around the edge of the visible area, but outside the current canvas edges. Delete that and I'll bet the effect will look right.
If you don't want anything that's out there, an easy way is to drag the crop tool around the entire canvas, make sure the Delete function is set at the top of the Photoshop main window, then accept the crop. That will delete everything outside the visible canvas on all layers in one swell foop.

Hello. I'm trying to add an outer glow to multiple photoshop images that have (at least one) of the same file dimensions as the original photoshop file. I'm doing this by dragging/dropping the original file's outer glow into the new files. But the size/spread/etc. of the outer glow changes once in the new file. Trying to automate this process and have to redesign the drop shadow for every batch of images I get. Anyone have any advice on why this is occurring? Or any advice on how to automate if this method does not work? I'm trying to keep the look of the outer glow consistent with every new batch. Thanks for looking! Do your contacts exist individually elsewhere? If not, you're stuck. If you have the contacts elsewhere (email, Outlook, FaceBook), one of you can turn off your iCloud contacts and elect to remove them from the iPhone. Your partner needs to do the same so that the list of combined contacts ceases to exist. Have your partner dlete the current account (from the iPhone) and then generate a separate iCloud account. After that, you can each restore contacts from individual sources.

Problems saving image with outer glow as gif
I've created a logo with an outer glow and it looks great as an illustrator file but there are problems when I save it as a gif file. The glow is replaced by a white blob around the logo. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but the image has a transparent background. I'm new to the Adobe suite. Should I be adding the glow in Photoshop or can it be done, and look right, in illustrator?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.GIFs cannot have alpha transparency. So you need to choose the same background color as you use on the HTML page, so that Illustrator can calculate your graphic when saving for web.
PNG can have alpha transparency, but you cannot use the "screen" blend mode in it. -
Photoshop-Live-Effect: outer Glow Question
Hello everybody
Well after my positive impression about my first Post here, I hope, that someone can help me again.
My problem is: In the Photoshop-Live-Effects, Category "Outer Glow" (Äußeres Glühen) is in the Part "Quality" (Qualität) the Option "random value" (Zufallswert).
Well, when would be this option works?
In Photoshop does this function only works, if the outer glow has a gradient, but that is in Fireworks not possible, as far as I know...Photoshop Live Effects are still new to me, as I just recently upgraded from Fireworks 8. This post from Jim Babbage echoes what Linda just said about them (that is, they help to maintain continuity between Photoshop and Fireworks):

The case of "Jitter" is interesting though. It can only be applied in Photoshop and only if the gradient option is chosen. Yet when I tried this, and then opened the PSD file in Fireworks, the appearance was maintained but none of the correct settings appeared in the Photoshop Live Effects dialog. And adjusting the settings had no effect either. That doesn't really fit my idea of a "live" effect. In fact, it seems more like a flattened effect—except that its editibility is maintained if the file is reopened in Photoshop.
Maybe they should call them Photoshop "hibernating" effects. ("They're not dead—they're just asleep!")
Clearly, there's room for improvement here. It begs the question: Why include a slider for something that can neither be created nor adjusted in the application? (Of course, I'd rather they figure out a way to add support for gradients here than just remove the slider.) -

JSB Xtreme Audio Notebook optical out problem with Home TheaterSystem-HELP!, I have this sound card connected?(optical OUT) ?to my home?theater system's digital IN ?through the recommended /8in. optical miniplug-to-optical SPDIF cable. Theater system is set correctly to Digital-In mode. I have no sound!
The cable is a Velocity Toslink-to-Optical Mini Plug digital cable. I don't see any settings in the Creative Console Launcher. The notebook is a Dell XPS M730 (Vista 32).
I have a PS3, DirecTV, and the SB Xtreme Audio Notebook cable on a hub switch that connects to the system's?one Optical IN. The PS3 and DirecTV sound perfect!
The sound card works fine with standard PC speakers. I'm at a loss as?to what to try next. I set this whole system up myself, so I'm pretty good at working out the kinks, except this one!
KarenOK. I just went to Control Panel - Sound - Playback - Digital Output Device (SB Xtreme Audio Notebook) - Properties - Advanced. I experimented with different sample rates and bit depths. Clicked the test button and lo and behold - sound from the HTS! I've tried iTunes, PowerDVD (configured to digital output) and YouTube - no sound! Am I missing something really obvious?
HA! Just backed out to Playback and selected Digital Output Device (SPDIF) and set as Default. Sound is emunating from HTS! Well, that mystery is solved! Who knew.

Basic Photoshop 101: I want to use an image with an outer glow in another Photoshop document. When I place the image, the outer glow has hard edges where the box of the image cut the glow off. Naturally, I want a soft feathered outer glow. How do I achieve that? Thank you.
That should work out, maybe edit it to force updating in the new image.

I would like to remove a short gray edge from two images. I need help in that I am not yet able to use PhotoShop. Could somebody kindly help me with this?
I doubt it Doc Maik, but I am certainly happy to learn The image is this one (and a similar one). They would be beautiful portraits if not for the "extra mouth". The grey edge that I would like to remove is the excess of (grey) mouth that is actually my horse's chin, but that in the pictures looks like a wider, looping mouth. Practically, looking at the picture, the "extra mouth" to the left. What I would love it to be able correct that to look like a normal mouth, which means that half of the protruding edge should be removed. I am not sure I was able to explain myself, but here is one of the two pictures. I thank you for you kindness in being available to advise me.

To prevent this being accidentally activated in the future go to SystemPreferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Universal Access and uncheck all the boxes.

I'm using outer glow effect. When it reaches certain blur values, it draw a strange borders outside the object.
I can't find a solution. Example:I’d say it’s happening because Illustrator is a buggy piece of crap that hasn’t been out of beta in over a decade.
I find Illustrator's raster effects terribly anaemic. I prefer the versatility of a hand-made effect. For Outer Glow I add a stroke using the Appearance panel and drag it to the bottom of the stack of appearances. With the stroke selected I then apply a Gaussian Blur effect. This is more versatile than Outer Glow because I can alter the size of the effect using the stroke weight without touching the blur. I can also use a brush for the stroke or apply other effects, like Scribble. -

I am new here and I am hoping I can get someone to help me out.
I've recently Downloaded Photoshop Elements 8 (trial) for my Brand New Computer (I use Windows 7)
in hopes of purchasing it after learning the program a little bit, well I'm glad I haven't purchased it yet since I've run into a problem
I cannot get Photoshop Elements Editor to open, I can however use the organizer.
I have already tried the following things in hopes of fixing this problem
Uninstal-Reinstal
Services, Flexnet and made sure it was on
Pushed Control Alt and Shift and clicked on the editor button
all with no luck.
I'm really hoping someone has had this problem before and can help me out, I was really looking forward to using this program since I also own Photoshop Elements 6 and the same thing happend (I found out it is not compatible and have since uninstalled it)
