Photoshop program for people photos

Is this a good program for people photos also, proms, weddings, babies...

Are you asking about Lightroom or Photoshop? Lightroom is a "good program" for all kinds of photos. Why don't you download a trial and determine for yourself.

  • How do you globally change the default program for opening photo files?

I want to adjust my system so that when I double click a photo file, Preview does not automatically launch.  I work in Photoshop all the time and would prefer that it be the default program for pictures.  I have already changed the "when you insert a picture CD" command in CD's & DVD's in System preferences but this does not have any effect on when I double click on a picture file to open it; Preview always launches and opens the picture there.  That automatic opening behavior is fine but I need it to happen in Photoshop.

Assuming your pictures are all .jpg files: select any .jpg by clicking once on it in the Finder, then press Command+I to Get Info about it. In the Open With: section of the Get Info window, change the preferred application from Preview to Photoshop, then click the Change All button.
Now any .jpg file that you double-click will open in Photoshop.

  • What is the best program for editing photos?

I am wondering what would be a really good progran to use to edit my photos. Any Reccomendations?

    Hi Kia
I use photoshop CS2 for all my photographic heavy lifting; but if you don't need a large app like photoshop, just double click on graphic converter in your applications folder, drag and drop a photo on the gc icon in the dock and get to work. Bye!

  • Photoshop editing for apple photos

I still want to use photoshop to edit my images like I did with iPhoto, anyone know how to do this? I'd also like to know what happened to the star ranking. I can only give something a heart or nothing?

The photos you looked at in the store have probably had their color saturation and contrast tweaked (not to say "exaggerated"), and the displays you looked at in the store may have been calibrated properly, while you probably haven't calibrated yours yet. You may also have been looking at Apple displays in the store that were far more expensive and higher in quality than the one in your 13" MBP. Why someone with a $10,000 DSLR would expect his photos to look very good on a 13", 1280 x 800 display is a bit puzzling to me. Do yourself a favor and get a big, high-quality external display to connect to your MBP and use for your photo viewing and editing.

  • Why is there no exchange program for people who bought ipad2 before the release date of ipad3

I sold my iPad 64g 3g on 12 December 11 so I could buy and iPad 2 64g 3G iPad2 on Xmas then three months later ipad3 comes out I have been I contact with apple support and they tell me to sell it on the returns program they would offer me £300 for it I payed £700 with three years cover plan.
I would have been happy to wait three months if I was notified that there was an iPad 3 release date but nothing came out .
So I ask apple and you why is there no exchange program in place for new owners of iPad 2 to be able to exchange for iPad 3 this is good business for the support we give apple in buying they're products time after time

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Rhetorical Question: "Have you heard that juicy rumor about the 'iPad X' yet?"
Apple, as a rule, does not announce hardware products far in advance of actual ordering availability.
More importantly, the Terms of Service for users Apple Support Communities does not permit such speculation here.
There were rumors and speculation about capabilities of the 'iPad 3' published online within hours of the release of the iPad 2 one year ago. If you want to 'keep up' with the rumors, I suggest taking few moments every month to visit websites like The Unofficial Apple Weblog (tuaw.com), and The Apple Insider (appleinsider.com), among others. You'll find a wealth of information about current products as well as plenty of rampant speculation about future products and projected release dates there.
Regarding 'trade-in' or 'trade-up', Apple has built their organization to manufacture and market new devices, media, and software. As you discovered with your original iPad, the best solution may be to sell your current device privately and buy a new one if you have a compelling need to upgrade to the latest model.
And, try as I might, I've never convinced my local car dealer to take my 3-month-old vehicle with 3,000 miles in equal trade for the shiny new model that was just introduced. But honestly, I'm buying run-of-the-mill 'daily transportation', not collectible automotive-works-of-art that will appreciate in value over time.

  • Is there a plug-in for Photoshop CS3 for multi photos...

I hope I can explain this clearly enough. Have you ever seen those pictures, let's say...of a building, where, when you get up real close, you can see it's made up of a whole bunch of smaller pictures that make up the whole image? I'm wondering how that's done and if there's a plug-in or a tutorial that Photoshop has that can make or explain how to do that? I work at a design business and I have a customer that wants the done to one of his projects. Can anyone help me out please?

Not a plugin, but a standalone free application:

    Works great!

  • I downloaded Photoshop Elements and now it has become the program that opens photos.

I recently downloaded Photoshop Elements for editing photos.  Now it has displaced iPhoto as the default program for opening photos.  How do I get the default set back to iPhoto?

Now it has displaced iPhoto as the default program for opening photos.
Do you mean that it has replaced iPhoto as the default program for editing photos that are already in iPhoto?
Or, do you mean that PE is the default application for opening a .jpeg file on your desktop, or elsewhere outside of iPhoto?

  • Does apple have program for kids and adults with learning disabilities

My daughter has learning disabilities and we were wondering if Apple has program that supports adults with disabilities. We thought that the gps function and Siri would be a wonder tool to help her if she gets lost.  We want to teach her independence and so that means letting her do things on her own. We want to get her an Iphone but have to wait untill our contract comes due. Any suggestions on who to contact at Apple?

I don't believe that Apple makes any specific programs for "people with disabilities". That is term covers such a broad range of issues! People who are blind have different needs than people with autism or people with spinal cord damage. Apple does include various accessibility options as part of the iOS.
However, just because Apple doesn't create such apps doesn't mean they don't exist. I would start be looking around the App Store (which you can do by downloading iTunes to your computer). There will no doubt be general purpose apps that can be useful as well as apps designed for specific needs. Also, contact a support group for whatever specific disabilities your daughter has. They may have a forum or blog where useful apps are discussed. Do an Internet search for apps and her specific issues.
    Best of luck.

  • Lightroom or Photoshop Elements for administrating huge number of photos?

    Dear photo experts,
at home, we have a huge number of photos we took over years. We are looking for a software able to organize all of them. We currently have:
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 (Mac)
    Adobe Lightroom 3 (Mac)
However, for organizing photos we so far use none of them but a third software (here, we are not happy about how it handles our huge catalog of photos).
Our photos are stored on a server (network attached storage), organized by date and event.
I read that Adobe Photoshop Elements cannot organize photos stored on a network drive.
    Now my questions:
    - Can Adobe Lightroom organize photos stored on a network drive?
    - Is Adobe Lightroom capable to organize a huge amount of photos in one single catalog (separating them via tags)?
    What are your experiences?
    Thanks a lot!
    JMickey

I read that Adobe Photoshop Elements cannot organize photos stored on a network drive.
I thought the opposite was true
Can Adobe Lightroom organize photos stored on a network drive?
As we say here in Rochester, NY, YES it can
Is Adobe Lightroom capable to organize a huge amount of photos in one single catalog (separating them via tags)?
Yes, this is one of Lightroom's strengths
    What are your experiences?
I use Lightroom for all of my photo management (yes, I said ALL). I never use the operating system for photo management. Lightroom works great. People here in this forum who have much larger catalogs than I do (over 1/4 million photos) also use Lightroom to manage their photos.

Adobe now hides the editor - what looks like it is not - you want the editor hidden in the support folder - see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3955558#3955558 for details

  • Comparison between Photo Deluxe Bus. Edition and current Photoshop programs?

I'm still using Photo Deluxe with Windows XP, and I know the XP emulator on Windows 7 Pro should allow PD to still work, but the next OS may not.
Can someone who's familiar with Adobe Photo Deluxe Business Edition and Photoshop tell me what current version of Photoshop will give me the same abilities as Photo Deluxe Business Edition did?  (Or will come the closest.)
If anything possible in Photo Deluxe just CAN'T be done with current Photoshop programs, could you also specify what those lost features would be?

Perhaps this will be helpful from an old thread on web.
"I transitioned from Deluxe 2 to Photoshop Elements (V. 1 and now 2) last year. I do the same kind of projects as you and really enjoy using Elements. Elements is much closer to providing the same functionality as the pricier Photoshop. The interface has less obnoxious "guide me" kinds of presentations that mar Deluxe and allows you to control the amount of application-provided help to a greater degree than with Deluxe. The only thing Elements lacks that Photoshop offers are color management and separation functions for commercial printing.
Elements also has some tricks that Photoshop doesn't, especially the Photomerge feature. This lets you stitch (or rather blend) two or more images into one. I use it a lot in scanning items that are larger than my scanner window. Also great for panoramic shots and artsy collages.
Opinion: Elements is far superior to Deluxe. The clone tool alone is worth the new software."
Note:  Believe they are now on Photoshop Elements 11, so should be even better.    Still under $100 I believe.

  • Anyone have any luck getting a photo editing program for 10.9.1 ?  (other than iPHOTO / Aperature)

I was using Elements 11 with Mountain Lion and that was OK but the reviews for Elements 12 compatability with 10.9 are all pretty bad.  The folks at Adobe claim that Elements 12 "can be installed" on 10.9.1 but they dont actually state that it  "works".   I'm just trying to avoid spending the big bucks for the full Photoshop program and Im not even sure that would work either.  I have this great new iMAC and cant play around with it yet. Suggestions ?

I have used all of the following on Maversicks, with no issues at all:
    iPhoto
    Aperture
    Acorn
    Graphic Converter
    Intensify Pro
    Snapheal
I've not seen any reports indicating any issues with other apps either. I would strongly echo Larry's comments about App Store reviews, and reviews on download sites and forums up and down the internet. The great thing about the internet is that everyone has an opinion, that might also be the worst thing.
The problems with these comments are manifold: for a start, happy people are less likely to review, unhappy happy are much more inclined to. That's why we don't have thousands and thousands of posts on this forum from all the people who have no problems saying "look I have no problems". Unhappy people get cross and are more likely to express that anger in negative reviews.
Then what about the reviewer? What is his or her knowledge, experience and skill level? No doubt they are having problems, and real ones, but how do you know if their issues are problems with the app, their own inexperience, third party conflicts and so on. I've seen people on here claim the fact that iPhoto won't edit video is a bug. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of posts from folks on here who are certain they've found a bug, only for their glitch to be resolved. No review is worth anything unless you know something of the reviewer, his or her knowledge and experience.
So frankly, I never bother with those reviews on any such stores, not just iPhoto on the Mac App Store.
