    i.m trying to save a file in photoshop 3000ppi 16RGB in .jpeg and it.s taking all my 16GB and it.s showing not enough ram memory, i.ve installed and reinstalled photoshop and it.s still showing the same message, i spoke to apple and they told me shouldn.t take all ram memory maximum 2GB....

    Could you please go to Image > Image Size and post a screenshot of that dialog? I need a more clear picture of what you have.
    Also is it CMYK or RGB mode?  Also 3000 ppi is really unusual. Press quality is about 300 ppi.
    Are you saving for print or web? Tiff or PSD is proper for print, not jpeg. That would be for a small file like I have shown here  going to display on the web.

    kglad,
    Thanks for the suggestion but I have attempted this many times to no avail. As I said in my original post, "I have researched this problem on this forum and the Adobe site and believe that I have tried everything over the past week."
    It is very late here (I am in Greece). I will have a further attempt in the morning. The windows machine is hut down. Thanks for your help.

  • Photoshop cs 5 misreading RAM memory

    Not feeling happy about my new PC and how plugins behave (time-wise) I decided to add another 8 Gig RAM memory to my 4 totaaling 12G. I thought this would make stuff got at super speeds but to my surprise it actually fel slower.
    I went to --> Preferences --> Performance and checked my meory useage and my problem seemed obvious. That is Photoshop does not show that I have added memeory and thinks I only have 4 Gigs. How can this be? How can I let Photoshop know I have more memory than what it thinks I have?
    Thanks in advance
    mich
    OS: Windows 7 Premium 64 bit
    Photoshop CS5 32/64 bit

    Kitadobe
    I think you have your information slightly off base.
    Puts on his geek hat:
    A 32-bit processor uses 32 bits to refer to the location of each byte of memory. 2^32 = 4.2 billion, which means a memory address that's 32 bits long can only refer to 4.2 billion unique locations (i.e. 4 GB).
    In the 32-bit "Windows" world, each application will get a “virtual” 4GB of memory space.
    That means that each application will functions as if it has a flat 4GB of memory. The system's memory manager tracks what applications are using which memory, page file management, Etc
    Now we will come to the infamous "i have 4 gigs of ram in windows but only see 3.5 gig" or some other memory ammount.
    This falls right back on the fact that 32 bit OS can only address 4 gigs of Physical memory. Well.. then why do you not see all 4 gigs.  cause your video cards have memory too! In order to address the memory in the video cards, it lowers the total physical ram ammount by how ever much video ram you have.
    Now onto the point i think you where trying to make. On a 32 bit OS side of things the 4 gigs of "virtual" memory space is devided in half. 2 gigs for the kernal and 2 gigs for the application its self.
    Now in a 64 bit OS a 32 bit Application will use 2 gigs by default, however if the application is large address aware it is capable of using the full 4 gigs that a 32 bit application can address.
    CS5 is large address aware and the max you can set the memory limit to in cs5 32 bit on a 64 bit OS is 3255 MB Just over 3 gigs.

  • Not enough RAM Memory

    I've been using my Photoshop Elements 9 for a long time with no problems.  I use it to edit only and do not save or store photos in Elements nor do I use the organizer.  Today, while trying to open photos on my iMac with Elements for editing, I'm getting a message while on the Elements screen saying I don't have enough RAM Memory to complete the action.  I'm having no problem adding photos to the iMac, but can't open them in Elements.  Is this an Elements issue or an iMac issue?  Suggestions for a fix?

    First try resetting the prefs: quit the editor, then relaunch it while holding down command+option+shift. Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.
    If that doesn't do it, what is the situation with your computer? How much ram do you have? Does About this mac>more info indicate all the ram you thought you had?

  • Need help: should I get 8gb or 16gb Ram memory?

    Hi,
    I'm about to purchase the new macbook pro retina.
    I'm going for the standard 13inch model with 256gb ssd.
    Standard there are 8gb of ram memory. But I wonder if I should upgrade to 16gb?
    I study graphic and digital media. This mean Photoshop, illustrator, indesign Will Be frequently used. Sometimes all together.
    Together with that iTunes and internet (many tabs) will be used.
    So would I upgrade to 16gb?
    I choose the 13 inch version because of mobility.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Have a look at this Macworld test from last May, especially the Photoshop test: http://www.macworld.com/article/2034655/lab-tested-the-ramifications-of-addition al-memory-on-a-mac.html
    It might also be helpful to look at the AnandTech site, which has comprehensive reviews of the earlier versions of the computer you are considering and is likely to have a review of the latest MacBooks within a week or so: http://anandtech.com
    While I understand your preference for the 13" form factor, the advantage of the quad core processor in the 15" is not insignificant. I assume that you will be able to use the 13" with an external display. If not, I think that you may find the 13" screen smaller than desired for the kind of work you have in mind.
    Cheers

  • AE incorrectly states ram memory.

    When I first installed CS5 I was running 8 GB of ram memory.  In the settings of AE, it registered that correctly.  Then I added 16 more GB and presently the settings reads: "16 GB of ram available."  I reinstalled AE CS5 and still get the 16 GB statement.  AE runs fine, but I wonder if I'm missing out on getting 24 GB of rendering power here?  Suggestions?
    My system is:  HP 480t HPE desktop, I7, 24GB, Win 7.  My computer diagnostics recognizes the ram running at 24 GB.

    Mahalo Todd and Dave,
    Here is a screenshot of my computer system performance
    and status info and the  AE 'Preference' page where this discrepancy appears.
    The computer status shows I have 24GB of ram memory.
    Under the Preference, Memory & Multiprocessing: "Installed Ram: 16GB.
    Ram reserved for other aps, 3GB.  Ram available for AE:  13GB."
    I yanked the 8GB memory that originally came with the computer and installed
    fresh new 6x4GB memory sticks for a total of 24 GB.  I wonder if there is a problem
    with memory sharing or pooling with Photoshop.  But I don't run any other CS5 program
    when AE is running and I still get this same 16BG reading.  Maybe by looking at the
    screenshots you two may see a conflict. Your help is appreciated!

  • How to Copy a value of a String to the RAM memory?

    Hi there,
    I was wondering how to copy a String into the ram memory (consider you're doing right click on THIS word and choose 'Copy'; the String's Value will be to the ram memory for a later Paste).
    In my application, a user has a table and he right click on it and choose Copy. I get the value of the item (Obj) but face dificulties to add it to RAM.
    my code looks like this:
              if (obj!=null)  //inside I have the value (say: 12345 --< Obj.toString)
                   Action copyAction = TransferHandler.getCopyAction();
                   int id = ActionEvent.ACTION_PERFORMED;
                   String name =  (String) copyAction.getValue(Action.NAME);
                   long l = EventQueue.getMostRecentEventTime();
                   copyAction.actionPerformed(new ActionEvent(XXXXXXX, id, name, l ,0));
                            ///what comes in the XXXXXXX
              }I tried, instead of the XXXXXXX, to put Obj or Obj.toString but...nothing.
    Anyone?

    Thanks,
    should implement ClipboardOwner
    and do this:
                  StringSelection stringSelection = new StringSelection( obj.toString() );
                  Clipboard clipboard = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getSystemClipboard();
                  clipboard.setContents( stringSelection, this );
    @Override
         public void lostOwnership(Clipboard clipboard, Transferable contents)
              //do nothing!
         }

  • HI, I HAVE A MacBook Pro 2.3GHz dual-core Intel i5 AND I WAN'T TO UPGRADE THE HARD DRIVE UP TO 750GB AND ALSO THE RAM MEMORY TO 8GB. WHAT SPECIFIC MODEL OF HARD DRIVE AND RAM MEMORY SHOULD I BUY??? THANKS

    HI, I HAVE A MacBook Pro 2.3GHz dual-core Intel i5 AND I WAN'T TO UPGRADE THE HARD DRIVE UP TO 750GB AND ALSO THE RAM MEMORY TO 8GB. WHAT SPECIFIC MODEL OF HARD DRIVE AND RAM MEMORY SHOULD I BUY??? THANKS

    No need to type in all caps - we HEAR you!
    I would take a look at the internal drives offered by both Crucial (click the link "Internal Hard Drives Now Available") and OWC. I would stay away from Western Digital drives as they seem to have problems on a number of Mac models.
    You can also shop for RAM at Crucial and OWC - just select the System Scanner tab at the Crucial website to find out which memory is right for your machine.
    Good luck,

  • PDA RAM memory usage

    Hi all,
    We have created a PDA application running on <b>SAP Mobile Infrastructure 2.5 Service Pack 18 Patch 1</b> on <b>Windows Mobile 5 </b>and Windows Mobile 2003 SE.
    <b>Problem description:</b>
    The problem is the RAM memory size. For WM 2003 there is no problem because there are enough PDA's with 128 mb RAM size, but the problem is there is no normal PDA running on WM 5 with 128 mb RAM size. There are only devices with 64 mb RAM.
    So we are having some problems with the RAM size, and I want to watch what is in the RAM and I want to see the usage of the RAM easily when I use my application. I can switch to the Settings --> Memory and see the values, but this is not reliable and I only see the usage and not what's in the RAM.
    <b>Questions:</b>
    - Is there a tool to watch the memory and what's in the memory?
    - Can someone give me some information how we can store less in RAM and more in ROM without getting a slower application?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bart Elshout

    hi bart,
    had you tried profiling you application? profiling will help you in looking which
    portion of the code was consuming a lot of RAM and time.
    some common ways to counter heavy application
    1) lazy loading
    this is very effective in a sense that only the classes required for certain
    functionalities are loaded and instantiated. this can be realized by using reflection
    and customized class loaders.
    2) avoid caching smartsync data
    when using smartsync, i don't recommend caching of your syncbo data. the lower
    layer already have a cache (esp fileIO).
    3) avoid rewrapping if possible
    wrapping a syncbo or row into another class will make your class instance bigger.
    and caching the fields in it, again will also consume some RAM.
    that's only for the part of the data. now you have to consider your UI also. are you
    using any UI framework?
    regards
    jo

  • N8 - Ram memory

    Ive got a problem with the Ram Memory on my Nokia N8.
    When i switch the phone on i have 115mb free and 131 used, this is fine and the phone works quite quickly.
    However over the next few days i lose about 20 to 25mb a day resulting in less than 50mb free after only a few days which makes the phone very slow and not responsive.
    I use the phone for the same things every day, calls, texts, emails, playing videos / music, taking photos and a bit of internet surfing. After closing an app the free memory goes back up but obviously something is happening to use the memory and not give it back!!!!
    Id like to know what is using this memory and is there anything i can do to stop it other than switching the phone off and back on every day??
    I have no such problems with my 808 so im well confused as to what is happening!

    Perhaps it is Anna. It is always recommended that one updates to the latest version of firmware, as it brings reliability, performance and functional improvements. Belle and Belle Refresh greatly increase the performance and stability of the phone and make it much prettier. I'm sure that if you update, the RAM problem will go away.
    But the downside to firmware updates, as you have also stated,is that some of your old apps may not work, as compatibility is not guaranteed. In these cases, you will need to contact the app developer themselves to ascertain the status of the app and its compatibility.
    In conclusion, the choice is up to you. I have Belle Refresh on my N8, and i'd take that any day over losing compatibility with some apps.

    The Memory Modules link on that page will give you the modules the board has been tested with. Others may work as well, but just haven't been tested.
    I didn't check to see if the Kingston are in the tests, but they do work with other boards using the ICH5 chipset.

  • SQL query returns few rows, but holds on with several Gbs of RAM memory used

    If I perform the following query:
    SELECT d.DocumentGUID, d.DocumentID
    FROM ImportDataBase.dbo.Document d
    LEFT OUTER JOIN ContentDataBase.dbo.Document d2 ON (d.DocumentGUID = d2.DocumentGUID)
    WHERE ( d2.DocumentGUID IS NULL ) -- new document in the ImportDB
    OR ( d2.DocumentGUID IS NOT NULL AND d.QueryContent <> d2.QueryContent ) -- modified document in the ImportDB
    It returns around 1000 rows and takes about 3 minutes to complete
    It also raises up the RAM memory used from 2GB to 9GBs.
    This memory used will remain used untill I restart the server. I have no need to make use of that memory, I already copied the returned rows of that query into a note pad for example. And any other reason of SQL has to  to keep that memory stored by
    that query, I  dont want it.
    Is there a way to release that memory I really dont need my SQL server to keep, without having to restart the SQL server?
    and without topping the max memory the sql server uses, since I need my SQL server to use as much as it needs in other tasks(I dont think it needs to hold on to the above query memory used)
    Thank You very much.

    Is there a way to release that memory I really dont need my SQL server to keep, without having to restart the SQL server?
    and without topping the max memory the sql server uses, since I need my SQL server to use as much
    A query can be resource intensive even if it returns a single row. Generally it is a good idea to set SQL Server MAX memory.
    BOL: "Optimizing Server Performance Using Memory Configuration Options
    The memory manager component of Microsoft SQL Server eliminates the need for manual management of the memory available to SQL Server. When SQL Server starts, it dynamically determines how much memory to allocate based on how much memory the operating system
    and other applications are currently using. As the load on the computer and SQL Server changes, so does the memory allocated. For more information, see Memory Architecture.
    The following server configuration options can be used to configure memory usage and affect server performance:
    •min server memory
    •max server memory
    •max worker threads
    •index create memory
    •min memory per query
    The min server memory server configuration option can be used to ensure that SQL Server does not release memory below the configured minimum server memory once that threshold is reached. This configuration option can be set to a specific value based on the
    size and activity of your SQL Server. If you choose to set this value, set it to some reasonable value to ensure that the operating system does not request too much memory from SQL Server, which can affect SQL Server performance.
    The max server memory server configuration option can be used to specify the maximum amount of memory SQL Server can allocate when it starts and while it runs. This configuration option can be set to a specific value if you know there are multiple applications
    running at the same time as SQL Server and you want to guarantee that these applications have sufficient memory to run. If these other applications, such as Web or e-mail servers, request memory only as needed, then do not set the max server memory server
    configuration option, because SQL Server releases memory to them as needed. However, applications often use whatever memory is available when they start and do not request more if needed. If an application that behaves in this manner runs on the same computer
    at the same time as SQL Server, set the max server memory server configuration option to a value that guarantees that the memory required by the application is not allocated by SQL Server."
