Photoshop "SAVE AS" problems!!!!!!!

When I finish with my project and I want to save it it won't let me. A box pops up and says "Could not save a copy as ....... because write access was not granted". How the heck do I grant access for the computer to allow me to save my work?????????? Thanks

You need write access to save.  Try changing the permissions and ownership on the folder using cmd-I  (info).  Sometimes when you copy from remote folders they will come across with a locked or 'read only' condition and if this is too tricky, try saving to a new folder.

  • Photoshop "Save As" problem. Extensions .jpg not automatically added.

Can someone please give me a tip?
My Old computer broke down and I bought a new one.
In the past when I selected "Save As" and then selected the file type ("Format" pull down menu)  JPG I only had to type in the name and Photoshop added automatically ".jpg"
On the new computer it doesnt work any more.
Now I select "Save As"....file Type JPG....I give it a name and ....Photoshop saves it without extension
so later It cant be seen when I want to open the file.
    What happened?
My System is Windows 7 Home Premium as my old system.

Yes, Windows is adjusted to display the extension.
Zeno, I dont add anything t the file name.
Last time with Photoshop on my acer computer i typed in the file name and Photoshop aded automatically .[dot]jpg
Photoshop on my new dell computer doesnt do that.

  • Photoshop "Save As" problem. Extensions not automatically added.

I am aware that a similar question has been asked and answered here..
The problem I've been noticing for a while now has been especially in OSX, now also on windows 7 is that whenever I have a PSD file open and go SAVE AS
as a JPG alot of times I tend to do a batch from a single psd with different version.. (  name01.jpg    name02.jpg    name03.jpg     etc.)
What I came across is that sometimes I tend to forget to select JPEG from the drop down menu (because the window always displays Photoshop File as default).
What happens is that Photoshop File is in the drop down menu and I name my file Name01.jpg it saves it as a Photoshop File with a .jpg extension. which confuses
everyone that tries to open that file because they cant and its huge..
I remember on windows XP when this happened photoshop was kind enough to name my file Name01.jpg.psd which made the file stand out and approprietly named.
Aside from the whole .PSD  .JPG issue with this not adding the appropriate extension automatically, this also causes problems when I name a file Name01 photoshop leaves it at that and does not add any extention to it so it becomes an orphan file on foreign computers.. It doesnt happen often but when it does I want to punch my computer in the face.
Anyone came across this, and found a solution? I'm sure I'm not the only one saving JPGs from Photoshop in large numbers that this happened to..
For ANY advice I thank you in advance.

In windows I can see extentions, I got a bit sidetreacked with Windows. This happens on OSX. If you want to try what I am talking about.
    > Create new file
    > Save As
    > call it something.jpg
and save it, youll see that it wont open even though Save As window is set to save the file as .PSD it saves it as .JPG this shouldnt happen.
the proper file name with extension should look like this  something.jpg.psd
I know that I shouldn't be adding .JPG to it.. but this is where OSX comes in if you dont add the extention the file will not have one.... (in OSX)

  • Photoshop save as problem

Using latest updated Photoshop 6 (creative suite) and latest version of Mountain Lion on a new iMac when I do a  save as and pick the format to save as the list is not correct.  If I pick jpeg it saves it as an eps which is two items up the list.  In order to save it as a jpeg I need to pick Multi-Picture Format which is three items down the list.  If I try to save as a tiff it saves as a png which is 4 spaces up the list.  I have a matching MacBook pro with the same version of CS (from the same install disk) and the same operating system (latest updates) an it works perfectly.  Any ideas?
    Dennis

Go delete the plugins you accidentally copied from a previous version of Photoshop - they're causing conflicts.
Or if you pointed the additional plugins folder preference to a previous version of Photoshop, turn that preference off and restart Photoshop CS6.

  • Editing in Photoshop saves jpeg to "Originals", not "Modified"

I recently started using Photoshop CS6 to edit my photos from iPhoto 8.1.2. I've set up the preferences to use CS6 as my external editor, and "Use Raw when using external editor" (I am shooting raw format). The file opens fine in Adobe Bridge, I make my adjustments and bring it into Photoshop.
The problem comes when I try to save - previously, when I chose Save, CS6 knew to save the file back to the "Modified" folder in my iPhoto library. Now, it is saving it back to the "Originals" folder, along with an .xmp file, and of course the edited photo does not show up in iPhoto (neither in enlarged nor thumbnail views). If I choose Save As and try to save it to the Modified folder, I can't complete the path because the iPhoto library is a package and won't open in the Save As browser window.
How to get my save function back on track, so I can save directly back to Modified without having to import the files again?

If you're editing RAW in iPHoto with PS you must save the edited version as a new file outside of iPhoto and import into iPHoto from there.  Only jpegs, tiffs, gifs can be edited in iPhoto by PS and have the normal Save get the edited version in the correct Modified folder.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Photoshop saves images darker than they appear in-program

I am using Photoshop CS6 64-bit version, and I also had this problem with the previous Photoshop CS5 (64-bit aswell). (Windows 7 64-bit)
I've had this problem for a very long time and I've been looking for answers for tons of times however this time around I really want it fixed because it is very annoying.
    Whenever I save most images that I've edited or created in Photoshop, they get saved as darker than they are in the program;
It shouldn't be a monitor problem. I have two monitors and it occurs on both. When I save the image and open it on the same monitor for comparison, it is darker than it was in photoshop.
If I use a screen-cap tool like Gyazo directly in photoshop to upload a screenshot of the image to the web, it appears just as light as it should (I am not sure if it's 100% as light as it should, however it's definitely way better and lighter than saving the image then uploading it).
Here's a comparison. On the left it is the wallpaper opened in Photoshop. On the right side I have the image saved as a .PNG and shown using the default Windows Photo Viewer:
    http://i.gyazo.com/02f434cce077a672e0169f7c2875b3ef.png
You can see that there is a clear difference, and that it's way darker than it should be. It pretty much ruins the image in this case due to how dark it gets.
(Yes, I've tried saving a very wide range of image filetypes with no success)
Continuing on the monitor/screen-cap part above... So logically there should be some issues with the actual saving of the image in Photoshop. Am I using sRGB? Yes. I have checked all the settings in the color settings countless times to make sure it's right. I also tried playing a bit around with them to no avail. Here is a picture of my color settings (Ctrl+Shift+K): http://i.gyazo.com/b3f993b61e2e9c701d0820886670da36.png
I have both tried to reset my settings and re-installed Photoshop. As I also said I've had this problem with an earlier version of Photoshop aswell. I have tried to convert color profiles before I save the image and I've made sure it's saved using sRGB.
I'm convinced Photoshop is saving the image wrongly or something due to the screen-cap case.
If anyone has any leads on how to go about fixing this then please speak out. If you require any more information about my hardware/software or what I've tried, just ask.
    Thanks!

This has nothing to do with Photoshop. The problem is that Windows Photo Viewer displays the image incorrectly. Apparently it's choking on the display profile, while Photoshop manages to work with it.
Both applications are fully color managed and should display identically. If they don't the problem is nearly always the display profile.
Try to set sRGB as default display profile in Windows. If the difference disappears you know you have a bad profile and need to replace it. If you don't have a calibrator to make a new profile, just use sRGB for now. Manufacturer-supplied profiles are notoriously defective in any number of ways and should be avoided.

  • PHOTOSHOP CS6 PLUGIN PROBLEM; I have PS CS6

PHOTOSHOP CS6 PLUGIN PROBLEM; I have PS CS6 & a mac osx 10.7.5  I have downloaded the pluginhttps://sourceforge.net/projects/panotools/  I drag it to the applications folder  (applications/photoshop/plugins) and it shows up there, but it does not show up when I reopen photoshop, can anyone tell me if this is a valid plugin or what I am doing wrong?

Thank you for the link, I don't see where the licensing is listed at all, I also don't see where it says it is for existing CS2 users only & the line install a special version that does not require activation -
doesn't scream it'd be a problem to load it especially since I already own a later version that I can't use the plugin on - …I don't find the site all that informative.  I appreciate all the answers & responses to my use of CS2 but I'd really just like to receive an answer to the original question of if the plugin works with it or not…if anyone has that answer I'd appreciate it.
Is there a place I can purchase it?  I will gladly do so if I can get the plugin to work-that is my goal.

  • Photoshop save for web unknown error

    Hi,
I am trying to save my .avi file to animated gif using photoshop save for web option, but i am getting a unknown save for web error. The .avi file is around 1.5 gb. tried to save the file with Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2014. My os is Windows 8.1 and i have 8 gb of RAM.
    Other details:
    Document size : 1800x1200
    .avi Frame rate: 50 fps
    Please help me

What are the pixel dimensions and the length of the spot?
Can you break up the clip into smaller elements?
I suspect you may be trying to use a file format that is not a good fit for the task.
Why do you want to use gif?

  • Space Designer Save Setting Problems

    Space Designer Save Setting Problems
On the right side of the space designer you have "dry" and "rev" settings.
On reopening the plug-in the dry setting switches back to zero, although I saved it at a different setting...
    Everytime, every project...

Does it do this on audio/software instrument channels and aux channels?
In general, when you load SD on an aux channel, Logic assumes it's going to be an FX return and so "helps you out" by setting the dry level to zero for you...
On other channel types it should work as expected...

  • Save As problems in Microsoft Word?

I upgraded to Mavericks last week and am either having repeated Senior Moment memory lapses or having periodic problems saving Word files (Office 11 14.3.8).  Both times this happened, I made changes to a Word document and saved it and closed it.  Then I later went back and opened the file later and the changes were not there.  The first time, I thought perhaps I had screwed up, but then it happened again this morning.   I think they were both files sent as email attachments, opened from the attachments and then Save As with a new name to a different location.  So it might be a Save As problem.  I wanted to post this in case there are others out there scratching their heads and thinking it is just them.

Sorry for the senior moment comment.  I was following onto your mention of that phrase.
If you go into File > Open Recent > More… you can select files you have touched Today, Yesterday, Past Week…
Selecting a file and doing a Save As… should point to the folder where the file went.
Does this work for you to find the file?

  • Help!  Photoshop save selection got corrupted; help me fix

My copy of Photoshop is saving an inverse mask in Channels when I use "Selection>Save Selection", whereas it saves the standard mask in Channels when I save the selection using the mask button in the Channels Panel.
I noticed that my other install of Photoshop saves the same result by both methods.
How do I repair Photoshop so that it doesn't invert selections when using "Selection>Save Selection"?

Does your laptop have a screen with a resolution of at least the minimum required 1024 x 768 pixels?  If not, Photoshop will not be able to display the File - Save dialog.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 (12.1) "save as" problem

Problem started yesterday, and has now happened twice.
I've been working along just fine all day (yesterday and today). Then, I open an image, change it from RGB to CMYK or BW, make adjustments, or a clipping path, and then tried to save as (so that I can save as tiff instead of jpeg) and I get the spinning beach ball. The only way out of it is to force quit. I re-start Photoshop and try again, even with a different image and without changing anything, and I have the same problem. I have to completely re-start my computer in order to continue working. Once I do, everything seems to be working fine.
I've not made any changes to my setup today, nor have I updated any software today.
Thanks in advance for your help.

ok, in the middle of deadline i've managed to run disk utility and repair permissions, and the problem persists.
i can't find a pattern of activity to establish a cause action. the files are opened from different folders and would be saved to the same folder. permissions are all correct.
when the problem occurs, I have chosen "save as" either from the file menu or keyboard shortcut. the dialog box doesn't appear... just the spinning beach ball. force quit is the only way out and restarting photoshop consistently produces the problem until i do a complete restart.
it's intermittent, but it's getting worse.
deadline is done, but i'm about to start another. any more suggestions would most be greatly appreciated.
