Photoshop scale effects when transforming?

Is this me or is there a way to transform the layer effects of layers in photoshop with out having to scale the whole document in image size or after scaling with the transform tool having to go into every single layer and scale each effect. This is a major bug bear for me and hasn't been addressed in any upgrade since layer effects were introduced it is such a simple thing. is there a way?

have you tried the Layer > Layer Style > Scale Effect dialog box ? or also you could right click on the layers and choose create layers to create layers with the effects on them.

Quicktime 7.0.4 Double Size / Half Size scale effect is gone

Before updating from Quicktime 7.0.3 and OS X 10.4.3, Quicktime Player used to do a zoom/scale effect when I hit "View > Double Size" or "View > Half Size". You see the window actually grow or shrtink to the new size. Now it just jumps directly to the new size since updating.
I have an identical PowerMac G5 running 10.3.9, and I still get the effect after upgrading to Quicktime 7.0.4.
Was it something in the OS X update, or did something go wrong in my install? I know it sounds like a silly thing to care about, but I am having other Quicktime issues as well (Safari crashes when a Quicktime video is present on a web page).
Anything I can do to fix this? I repaired permissions, tried the Combo Updater, rolled back to Quicktime 7.0.1... same problems. Anything else I can try or delete?

iDVD says the film length would be 151 minutes.
The size of the blank DVD should be rather 240 minutes....!

Can't scale effects with image resize in Photoshop CC, why?

I'm trying to resize an image, size it down from the 600ppi I work in
to a preview 300ppi size. But I can't get any option to resize the layer
effects to work. In that little cog, in the top right, there is a menu
item Scale Effects, but it is always greyed out and unselectable.
I've tried just scaling it in different ways, percentages, the actual
size rather then the ppi. No luck. Anyone know why?
I'm desperate to get this file (which has a tonne of layer comps in it) to print.

Adobe hid the option in its new dialog making it inconvenient you have no idea of how it is currently set till you click on the gear to see the status of the check-mark.

Scale effects in indesign Cs5

Hi Everyone,
I have some artwork with various shadows. Some of the artwork needs to be adapted large format. I need to scale the effects in indesign with the object, but the shadow stays the same size. I have checked my indesign prefs and made sure the General options are;
Object Editing
[tick] Prevent Selection of Locked Objects
When Scaling:
[selected] Adjust Scaling Percentage

I never scale effects, myself.
But I used to work in a large format output service. There's no reason you have to prepare the file at full size. They can scale the output from your original, if that makes life simpler.
Here's my take on shadows. The size of the shadow is related to the distance of the object off the surface on which the shadow is projected and is independent of the size of the object (once upon a time I was a physics major). making the shadow larger or smaller tells the viewer that the object is further away or closer to the surface. In my opinion, the best way to deal withthis is to define the shadows as part of the object style, and edit the style if you want to change the size of the shadow.

Photoshop crashes after using transform tool in animation window!

My photoshop (CS5 on a mac) has been crashing anytime I use the free transform tool in the animation window. It works perfectly fine in regular photoshop, but the second I switch over to animation using the select tool then the free transform tool will crash photoshop and I'll lose what I was working on. I've tried a few things already, but my problem seems to be super specific and nobody else has had this happen to them.

Do you get a crash log that shows up?
Could you provide the details in that crash log here in the Forum discussion?
Have you tried creating a new user account, and tested working with this file and animation under that user to see if it crashes there?

Is PS CS5 up to date? The latest version of CS5 is 12.0.4
Which Mac OS Version are you working on? Is it up to date?
What happens if you create a NEW file, and create an animation timeline on that one, do you still get the same crashing behavior? Is it just with this one file?

Most likely the display performance setting. View > Display Performance > High Quality Display. If that doesn't solve it, the resolution of the image may be too low to use at the size you have it on the page. Check the Effective PPI in the info panel.

Tracking using Effects-Distort- Transform

Hello Everyone.
I have Tracked a footage inside mocha 3.1. Then I Exported the Tracking Data, and Paste it into my clip Inside After Effects.
I adjusted my clip, with Anchor Point, and I did go to Effects- Distort- Transform.
Inside my Effects Panel, I moved the Transform all the way up In top of Corner pin, and then I played with the Scale.
Is this the correct way to work with Scale after Tracking.

Maintaining aspect ratio when transforming

Since I have upgraded to CS6 I've noticed that when transforming an object it does not maintain the aspect ratio even when I am holding shift while transforming. I have to each time check the link button (maintain aspect ratio)

It'll be because 'Snap Vector Tools and Transforms to Pixel Grid' is enabled in 'Preferences > General', an option that didn't exist before CS6. It's actually being more truthful that way because the transformed layer has to become an integer number of pixels wide and tall, anyway, and that's not going to be a perfectly proportional scale in most cases.
See what I mean by trying to scale an 11 x 10 pixels layer by 50%. It's impossible for that to be scaled by exactly 50% in width because the result has to be either 5 or 6 pixels wide (it will be 6). When the 'Snap...' preference is disabled (i.e. the pre-CS6 behaviour) you can scale the bounding box by precisely 50% in width but the pixels don't cover precisely 50% of the original width. When the preference is enabled, you won't be misled by being able to scale the bounding box to precisely 50% when the pixels cannot cover precisely 50%.

Keep Photoshop live effect (inner glow) with transparent background

I currently have a circle with a background color and a photoshop live effect of an inner shadow. I'm trying to set the background to transparent, but when I do so, the inner glow becomes invisible. Can someone please offer some tips on how to keep the inner glow with the background being transparent? The only thing I could figure out was lowering the opacity, but then the true color of the background doesn't come through.

You could create the effect you want in the following way_
Drag out an ellipse with the vector ellipse tool on Fireworks. Fill it with the color you want the inner glow to be. Change the fill from solid to a radial gradient. Open the gradient editor and make sure that both colors of the gradient are the same. The color chip on the left side of the gradient ramp is the one that controls color in the center of the ellipse. The black chip above it controls opacity. Click on the black chip and change the opacity to 0. Adjust the position of the fill handle and the chips on the ramp to get the effect that you want.

CS5 - Missing gradient editor in Photoshop Live Effects/Stroke

Try this: select an object, apply a photoshop smart effect > stroke > Fill type: gradient
and let me know if you have any way to edit the gradient there, I can't figure out how to work that.

I'm trying to apply a gradient stroke without resorting to outlining the path I'm working with... but apart of that, WTF? You guys put in a feature that works only 50% to keep stuff compatible? Really? What kind of product management do you guys have over there? C'mon!
Fireworks is driving me crazy, stuff that is supposed to be 27 pixels looks out of sync, and even snapping to pixel doesn't do the magic most of the time.
not to mention the hilarious decision of somebody to make the autoshape dialog NOT pick up the Uber-common CTRL-A shortcut, so when I'm trying to select all the content in one of the inputs, selects all my artwork instead.

Photoshop-Live-Effect: outer Glow Question

Well after my positive impression about my first Post here, I hope, that someone can help me again.
My problem is: In the Photoshop-Live-Effects, Category "Outer Glow" (Äußeres Glühen) is in the Part "Quality" (Qualität) the Option "random value" (Zufallswert).
Well, when would be this option works?
In Photoshop does this function only works, if the outer glow has a gradient, but that is in Fireworks not possible, as far as I know...

The case of "Jitter" is interesting though. It can only be applied in Photoshop and only if the gradient option is chosen. Yet when I tried this, and then opened the PSD file in Fireworks, the appearance was maintained but none of the correct settings appeared in the Photoshop Live Effects dialog. And adjusting the settings had no effect either. That doesn't really fit my idea of a "live" effect. In fact, it seems more like a flattened effect—except that its editibility is maintained if the file is reopened in Photoshop.
Maybe they should call them Photoshop "hibernating" effects. ("They're not dead—they're just asleep!")
Clearly, there's room for improvement here. It begs the question: Why include a slider for something that can neither be created nor adjusted in the application? (Of course, I'd rather they figure out a way to add support for gradients here than just remove the slider.)
