Photoshop "Shapes Layers" in flash

Hi ,
I’m using flash cs3 ,
When importing Photoshop file , all the “shape
layers” are being converted into a mask in flash , why is
that? And how can I turn all those “layer shapes” to a
vector shape in flash?
Thanks
S

When you say "Then Fade out," it doesn't exactly sound like
scrolling.
Does the user do something to make the text scroll up/down or
does the text
merely scroll without user interaction and the fade out at
its completion?

  • Import photoshop CS3 layers into Flash CS5?

Does anyone know if you can import photoshop layers from CS3 into Flash CS5? I am looking to get Flash CS5 for my Win 7 but am worried I won't be able to use it with all my CS3 photoshop work.  Has anyone had experience with this and can tell me one way or the other if it does or doesn't work.  I know CS5 has LOTS of backward compatibility problems.
    Thanks.

Yes, save the photoshop file as a .ps file and then import it in Flash. You will get pretty much the same import options window that you saw in Flash CS3.

  • Importing Photoshop layers in Flash

    Hi,
I tried to import photoshop layers in flash.
But it is coming as bitmap.
Is there any way to bring the photoshop layers as shapes with good flash quality.
    Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately I don't think this can be done - but maybe I am wrong. But I don't think there is a way.
Perhaps see if there's any options through scripting.

  • Photoshop CS6 automatic shape layers?

In Photoshop CS6, I have Shape Layer B clipped (ctrl alt G) by Shape Layer A. SL-B has a color fill different from SL-A, and has 50% opacity. Is there a way to automatically make every new Shape Layer drawn to have the same transparency and fill color as SH-B, and should also be clipped by SH-A?
When I select SL-A and then draw a new shape layer, it copies the fill color of SL-A and is clipped automatically. When I select SL-B and then draw a new shape layere, the new layer copies SL-B's fill color, but not the transparency, and it is also not clipped.

Play with the manipulator keys (shift, ctrl, alt) or use the boolean icon in the top tool bar. This would allow you to add or subtract from the same layer. Making it possible to have more than one shape on the same layer.
    Just a thought...

  • Direct Selection Tool - Shape Layers in Photoshop CC Issue

I just upgraded to CC and the first major road block is the new way the direct selection tool works. In my CS6  work flow I would use the direct selection tool to jump between shape layers within the document layer. Then once the correct shape was selected I would click drag select the anchor points I want to adjust. This seems to be impossible now in CC. You can still jump between shape layers but you have to be in "All-Layers" which really hurts when I want to click drag to select specific anchor points because it selects all shapes below it. And with Active-layer selected you can't jump between shape layers with the tool but you can click drag select anchors with out selecting and shapes below the layer. The basically cut functionality right down the middle…
Below I made a very simple video showing the issue (CS6 = first PSD and CC = 2nd PSD)
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/pjlvwzmli9ihczd/CCProblemBroadband.m4v
As you can see in CS6 I could fly between layers and adjust everything with out ever changing to another tool or jumping to the layers window… I can no longer do that in CC with out having the dumb issue of also selecting the layers below it, which I don't find useful 99% of the time. Is there a setting to make this work like it did in CS4-CS6???? In my line of work, we work a lot with shape layers and this is causing more time to my work day.
    Thanks

1000x this. My designs are 100% vector shapes, so if Adobe have changed this core behavior intentionally, they’ve just made my life a lot more difficult.
We should be able to use the Direct Selection Tool to select a shape layer (similar to how the Move Tool has done) by clicking on any visible pixel. But then we should be able to freely drag-select points on that shape (starting from any neutral area) without selecting other shape layers. This is how it’s worked since before I can remember.
Here’s why the two new selection modes don’t work:
Active Layers - I can no longer freely select any visible shape. Instead I’m forced to make a time-consuming roundabout to the layer palette, where I have to squint to find my shape layer, and activate it manually before continuing. (Hitting “V” to select a layer, then “A” to get back to the D.S. Tool is nearly as cumbersome. Plus, I leave off the Move Tool's auto-select mode.)
All Layers - Treats all my shapes as if they’re on one layer. Overlapping shapes are therefore impossible to work with -- mainly drag-selecting and deselecting points -- in situ.
We either need a “legacy” setting, or some way to constrain selection on drag, via a key modifier or something. This “all or nothing" thing doesn’t work for me... and apparently for others. Why would they change such a thing?
Or maybe there’s something I’m missing. Please let that be the case!

  • Crash while transforming Shape Layers in group bug report

I've had a consistent crash today while trying to scale a group of simple shape layers: specifically, 2 x 2px strokes making a simple bevelled edge, contained in a layer group folder.
    What happens:
    1. have two vector shape layers in a layer group
    2. Select and try to scale vertically
    3. Set height to 4 pixels
    4. Crash.
    What should happen?
Those simple shape layers should scale with no trouble at all. For some reason it causes PS to crash every time.
I can do a free transform to any vector object or shape layer and scale with no problem. If I set a height or width in the tool bar it will crash.
The vector objects do not have any effects, styles or even strokes. They are just simple filled vector shapes approximately 2 px H X 20 px W.

    Hi Pete -
I apologize for the soundtrack... it was my first time using Jing and I was trying to capture the bug while I was trying to get two jobs out the door!
That was Ministry, btw. I find it relaxing and soothing.
All my hardware, software, graphics cards and drivers are up to date. My machine (the one I'm working on currently) is a new Mac Pro (all the specs are pasted at the end of this post). The issue also appeared on my old Mac Pro Quad Core, 2 x 2.66 GHz.
I've had the issue happen in multiple documents, both existing and new. For awhile it only happened when changing the height. Then it happened a few times when adding a specified width. It hasn't happened at when transforming manually by dragging, only when entering a value to the height or width fields.
After I sent the video last night I was able to transform again using the same group of shape layers, in the same document, and it worked consistently several times. At the time I wasn't trying to reproduce the bug, I was just working, but when it worked I had to try it a few times to see what would happen and it worked.
Today I remembered one setting that I changed and checked it out. In prefs, one of the new options, "Snap Vector Tools and Transforms to Pixel Grid", was originally checked/on. A couple days ago I had to turn it off while setting up some UI graphics for an iOS app. I found this setting really useful for doing UI design since most of the graphics in an app, especially icons and the like, have to be very precise or things begin to appear fuzzy. However, transforming a vector object that's only 36 x 36 px tends to really jump around a lot when dragging to transform, so for the comp stage I turn it off. Last night I had to whip out some rough layouts really quick and turned it off. That's when I noticed it stopped but didn't realize it until today. As it was happening, so were all the crashes and restarts so it was difficult to keep track.
I think if you take a look at that new setting option you'll find the root of the problem.
Let me know if you can reproduce the bug with that setting on.

  • How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?

How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?
I am using either of the path selection tools to select only some of the paths on the layer. I have the proper layer targeted. I have the selection too auto select option turned off.
If another layer has a path in that area, that layer becomes auto targeted and I get the wrong path. Turning off the layer is the only way to avoid this but then I have to  turn on the layer back on between making my selection and transforming to use the other layer as guide. Is there any way to stop this auto select? Locking the other layer does not stop the auto select, just prevents editing.

As far as i know the move tool options don't have any effect on the path selection tools.
You might try clicking on one of the path points or on the path itself with one of path selection tools and if you want to select multiple points
you can shift click with the Direct Selection Tool or Alt click to select the entire path.

  • Why can't I use envelope on mutiple layers in Flash CS6?

    Hi,
I used to be able to envelope accross multiple shape layers in earlier versions of Flash but now the envelope tool is greyed out when I have more than one layer selected at a time! Why get rid of such a useful feature?
If anyone has a work around or an explanation I would be very greatful.
    Thanks,
    Dan

the envelop subtool of the free transform tool works the same in flash cs6 as flash cc, as far as i can tell.

  • Photoshop CS4 layers palette too wide problem!

    http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6828/swatchesld2.jpg
The Photoshop CS4 layers palette is too wide and distorts the layout of the default color swatches palette when docked on the same column. And I don't want to have to put the color swatches palette anywhere else but the same column. Can the layers palette be fixed so that it can be as narrow as the other palettes, so it won't cause a conflict with the swatches layout?

As for the rescalability of panels I think this is more of a Windows issue, but even on mac these are nowhere near as well designed as they were.
Panel and UI design issues are now unfortunately more complex than just to do with Photoshop. The whole Creative Suite is now unified to some extent in the way it handles panels. Part of these problems stem from the fact that Indesign and Illustrator's concerns are quite different to those of Photoshop. Partly because the designers of these two applications have introduced a great swaithe of additional panels, which now need to be accomodated. Hence the panel buttons, and poorly docking panels.
The design of The Creative Suite interface now seems much more influenced by Flash Web design, and Windows OS. Unfortunately with flashing buttons, icons, and distracting transparency whenever you move anything, Photoshop appears on the surface much more complex than it needs to. This surface complexity will lead to further misguided accusations of "bloat".
Photoshop CS and CS2 in my humble opinion, had much more "solid" and well designed panel (or palette) interfaces. Although here and there there have been one or two useful additions to the overall UI, including more readily accessible workspaces, tiling, and obvious clickable icons for people who can't deal with keyboard shortcuts.

  • Photoshop CS3 export to Flash CS3

I have checked the adobe site, and the lynda.com site and
still can't find a way to export from Photoshop CS3 to Flash CS3 so
that all of the layers are imported into flash on individual
layers. I have found how to do it with CS2 using imageready but
that is no longer an option in CS3. Can anyone help? I have a flash
project on hold because of this one.
    Thank you...

I have tried saving the file from Photoshop CS3 as a PSD and
then importing it into Flash CS3. You get all the layers but not
the drop shadows. The drop shadows are there but as a part of what
ever they are shadowing, they are not a separate layer. Also using
CS2 and Imageready I could get the layers to be named the same as
my file name automatically so each layer would end up with a unique
name instead of layer1 and layer2. Is there still a way to do it
the way we used to or something similar so that everything is on
its own layer including drop shadows and the layers in flash are
automatically named for you on import?

  • ALL SHAPES LAYERS SUDDENLY CHANGED COLOR WITH SOME ACCIDENTALLY USED KEYBOARD SHORT CUT PLEASE HELP

I was working away in photoshop on an INCREDIBLY important file and suddenly all of my shape layers inverted... there is NOTHING in the history and I have literally tried everything I can think of. this is seriously a crucial issue and i really need this to be fixed. if ANYONE knows anything please help. I'm posting a screenshot of what it looked like and what it looks like now. naturally adobe wont let me call them or do ANYTHING to get immediate help with this absolutely infuriating problem so if someone out there could help that would be great. SERIOUSLY regretting using photoshop, it is so infuriating even after 7 years of using it.
^^ this is what the colors looked like
and VV this is what they look like now. as far as i can tell, its only the shape layers that have changed color. I have tried everything and nothing works.
roughly, all the yellow turned green and all the red and white turned black? I have no idea. please PLEASE someone help me.

The colors are present even when  I exported Jpegs from the photoshop file. Gamut warning is off. the difficult thing with screenshots is that the image appears in different colors at different sizes... which is bizzare.. at the full shape, some of the shape layers appear fine as pictured below
and then when i zoom in this happens

  • Muse doesn't seem to see Photoshop Adjustment Layers

I like to place Photoshop files in Muse, so I can quickly edit a non-destructive format, instead of a JPEG. I recently noticed that some placed Photoshop files were markedly more dull in Muse than they appear in Photoshop.
Opening the Muse-created web page and comparing it with an open Photoshop file, it appears that Muse is not honoring my top layers, which are Photoshop Adjustment Layers.

As much as I believe that Muse is not really fit for purpose yet, I do not have the issues you are encountering with Opera.

  • Jagged Edges on Text & Shape Layers

    Hi there,
I've been experimenting with creating 3D logos, text and shape layers with AE CS6 by using the "shatter" effect. I have noticed that curved letters (like "S") or curved shapes are jagged, even when rendered in full quality (see attached image).
Is this due to a setting in After Effects? How can I smooth this? I have experimented with Ray Trace as an alternative way to extrude, but with only 8GB of RAM I am unable to render out sufficiently high quality 3D text or layers in enough time.
    Thanks.

It's a limitation in the technique you are employing. As Rick said, make the text as big as you possibly can, then scale it down again after the effect is applied.
