Photoshop Texture to Dreamweaver
Hey!
So, I created the layout of a website in photoshop. As the background for the body, I picked a standard photoshop texture.
My question is, how do I export this texture as a small image (128x128ish) that I can repeat it as the background for the body in Dreamweaver? Basically, how do I find the part of the image that repeats seamlessly?
Thanks!
Just hover the cursor over the pattern’s icon in Edit > Preset Manager > Patterns and the appearing text should give you the pixel dimensions, then you can create a file that size and fill it with the pattern.

How Does One Modify Photoshop Templates in Dreamweaver
I posted this over on the Photoshop forum, but no one has
replied. It is a hybrid sort of question.
I've been trying to modify the Horizontal Neutral template of
the Web Photo Gallery in Photoshop CS using Dreamweaver MX (v.6.1)
on my G5 running Tiger and am almost there. Aside from the overall
design (fonts and colors) I really like the interface of this
particular gallery with a horizontal slider to quickly scroll
through images, that when selected, appear in large form in the
center of the page. But I need to customize it to get it to match
the feel of my site.
My problem: I'm trying to point to a gif file that is part of
my website image library as my background. I want the Horizontal
Neutral Gallery to float in that image background. But, I can't
seem to get the background image to appear where it is supposed to.
I've gone into the various components of the template
(FrameSet, SubPage, etc.) and by duplicating the files and
modifying the code, I am able to get the background image to appear
within the tables that make up the navigation and image gallery
components. But, I've not been able to get the image to appear as
the background itself.
I'd even be happy to simply have the entire Horizontal
Neutral Gallery float in the middle of one of my own pages with the
image file as a background if it is possible, but can't seem to
even get it to do that. How does one access the code that controls
the background image in this template or the script that generates
these galleries?
Thanks in advance! The reason the that the edit button ( - ) top righthand corner had 'disappeared', was that iCloud was enabled but that the Addressbook subsetting under iCloud was set to off in the phone settings.
Changing it to 'on' made the edit button reappear.
Thanks to the guys in Cambridge Apple Store!!

After the latest Security Update 2012-001 (Mac OS X 10.6.8) my Adobe Photoshop CS 8, Dreamweaver 8, and InDesign CS programs crash when I try to save a file. HELP!!!
Howdy,
Apparently some are reporting that this causes the older PowerPC (PPC) applications that are supported in 10.6 via 'Rosetta' to crash upon attempting to open/save/print using any dialog box, or fail in other similar ways such as simply not printing or quitting, or freezing/hanging/crashing of the application.
I have read of some companies that have indeed submitted proper bug reports to Apple, but that is not a guarantee of a bug-fix being issued.
You might wish to read:
http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/snowleopard/index.html#d02feb2012
If you are unsure if you are still using PowerPC apps, if the application is currently running, look under the 'Activity Monitior' (in Applications -> Utilities), or alternatively you could check in the System Profiler, Applications. Check the column "Type".
Here is a fairly simple way you can restore you system and restore you applications functionality again, if you don't have a recent clone or good Time Machine backup that you can restore from. If you do, restore from your backup prior to having installed the Security Update 2012-001.
Time Machine restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427
If you are restoring a backup made by a Mac to the same Mac
With your backup drive connected, start up your Mac from the Lion recovery partition (Command-R at startup) or Mac OS X v10.6 installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility. Select the backup prior to your issues, and it will be restored back to the state it was in at that time.
If you can't easily restore from a backup, you can instead do the following:
- You first start by reinstalling your OS X 10.6.x, this will preserve all your user data, your applications, no worries there.
- Then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 (links provided below)
- Make sure you're printers are showing up correctly in your system preferences, if not, re-add the printers
- Then finally, run the Apple Software Update (by pulling down the Apple Menu), and install any and all remaining updates, except do not then re-install the Security Update 2012-001. It is possible that you may have to reboot after installing some of the updates, and you may even need to run it a 2nd time to make sure that you've got all updates, except NOT the Security Update 2012-001.

Ok, so the title of this post sounds confusing. First off, I created a graphic in Illustrator CS3. It is to be used on a web page created in Dreamweaver CS3. I want to be able to streamline the editing process by using the Smart Object linking feature between Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS3.
Obviously, the problem is, I cannot link the Photoshop source to Dreamweaver because the source is not a Photoshop file, it is in Illustrator. The obvious solution to that is to export the Illustrator file as a Photoshop file. The problem with that is, I want to maintain the source in Illustrator and make edits in Illustrator.
So, my solution was to place the Illustrator file in Photoshop and make the Illustrator file a Smart Object in Photoshop. Then link that Photoshop file to the Dreamweaver page. So, basically, Photoshop is just the link between Dreamweaver and Illustrator. It works well! I click the little edit button in Dreamweaver abd it calls up the file in Photoshop. Then I double-click on the Smart Object layer in Photoshop and the source comes up in Illuistrator.
Now, here is the problem. To add to the confusion, I maintain versioning in Version Cue. So whenever I change the Illustrator file, I check it in to Version Cue. The Illustrator file I linked to in Photoshop is the local file on my computer. This file is syncronized with the version of the file that gets uploaded to Version Cue. This may sound complicated, but to see how I did it is pretty straight forward.
My assumption was, when I double clicked on the Smart Object layer in Photoshop, I would get the local copy of the Illustrator file to edit. But, that wasn't the case. Problem is, I got a temp file of the Illustrator graphic and NOT the original source file I linked to in Photoshop.
I can still edit the temp file and have those changes automatically made in Photoshop and then update the image in Dreamweaver. BUT, when I got to check in the new edits of the Illustrator file to Version Cue, it wants to create a new file and not rev-up to the new version of the original file. That's because the file I'm checking in is NOT the original file, it is a temp file.
Does anyone else use a workflow like this? If so, how do you do it?Ok, so far I have come up with this solution. Usually after editing the Illustrator file I would check it in. But, as mentioned, I can't just do that because the file I'm editing is the temp file and not the original file syncronized with Version Cue.
So, instead of using Check-In when I'm done, I can use Save As... I can then overwrite my local file that is syncronized with Version Cue. That will save the new file as the correct name and automatically check it into Version Cue as the next version of the correct file. -
Photoshop templates to dreamweaver
Hello...when I drag the Photoshop template into Dreamweaver,
it becomes a jpeg. How can I use a Photoshop template in
Dreamweaver and have the capability to change the text and add text
over the template?? With the background as a jpeg, I cannot type
over it unless I use AP Div, which I don't want to use.
Thank you!Google SiteGrinder....

Unable to Uninstall Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4
it's been a couple of days since i tried out Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4 to see how they compare to the CS3 versions, it worked fine and all till suddenly it stopped working, so i been trying to uninstall/reinstall to get it working under the free trial limit i still have left (27 days as of this writing) it still will not work.
Sometimes i would install Photoshop/Dreamweaver and say an error occurred and some components were unable to install and would be unable to load the file even after doing what the instructions say...
Same goes for when i try to uninstall both Photoshop/Dreamweaver, i would try to uninstall and would still remain in my program files...
I am completely stumped on what to do, i can't even re-install photoshop/dreamweaver cs3 as well due to this...
I am running on Vista 32bit SP1 Pack on HP Pavilion, i want to completely get rid of CS4 versions and go back to my reliable CS3 again, any help please would be greatly appreciated.
KantoriJohn... if you read what I said you would of caught that i did do it:
"did what was suggested, worked like a charm for the CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 but although it did work on Photoshop CS4. it did something i was dumbfounded to see, it did something odd in which it took out the Uninstall/Change tab option for removing programs (I was viewing it to see if it uninstalled completely) also it brought out a bunch of programs that weren't in that section before and was unable to uninstall/remove them.
So i had to do a system restore point to go back and try again. After doing it two more times (ya two!) still doesn't work, i am 7 hours into trying to resolve this... sigh. "
At that time i said i had done it 2 times, 3 in total, i am on try #6 all with the same results with the exact after effects once i restart my PC.
Here's what it does to tell what goes on:
1) after installing microsoft's cleaner then opening up the cs4 cleaner under admin, it does its thing, it asks me if i wish to remove Flash Player 10 after choosing remove Photoshop CS4, now here i done both remove Flash Player and not remove it with the same results, losing the uninstall/change option on the control panel, which frustrates me.
2) After seeing that i try to install Photoshop CS4 again, once its done, i open it up, try to go to the trial option where as i stated previously says there's an error and can't open the trial page which would open up Photoshop completely but since it can't i cannot go beyond that window.
3) So ya... i try ONCE again to do it all over after restarting and SAMETHING! no uninstall/change option appearing and unable to open up Photoshop CS4 in which i resort to doing a system restore again and trying once more.
NOW, one would think that after the first 3 times it should be working properly, i mean I thought it would after removing both Photoshop CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 it's bound to do the same for Photoshop CS4, but it doesn't completely create a "FREASH" install. It's like it still remembers what messed up functions it still had and what's up with it removing the uninstall/change option? that just bogles my mind.
i tried many things, re-downloading the trial from adobe, etc i never would of thought just one program could cost me so much wasted time just to get it working and it's a free trial nonetheless so excuse me John Joslin if your remark kind of bugs me, I need some assistance/advice on trying to correct this problem, not a

There is a major color shift in my artwork image from the photoshop jpeg to dreamweaver - it gets 'grayed out', loses color contrast. I checked in Bridge and the color settings are synchronized. The image in photoshop is just like what i get from my Nikon D90 camera. The grayed out image has also been noted by two of my professional printer co. which i use but one of my printers - Modern Postcard - the images in photoshop are perfect. I just need to know what causes the color shift and how to control/manage it, thank you, Kathyrn
I have noted color shifts as well and have come to a few observations.
When you are making a .JPG file and you are trying to make a color in that file be the same color as your website's background, you're going to get a lot of failures. Photoshop will add color information in an ICC file in the meta information in the file if you like. That tends to produce actual colors, but they do not fit a web gamut.
The way I generally deal with images that need high quality is that I use the Save for Web and Other Devices exclusively, either ticking on or off the ICC profile for JPEG files and working with what works best. Saving a JPEG with as much information as is possible is usually the best choice but, since JPEG is a "lossy" compression scheme, you are always going to get some issues.
Additionally, the web browser in question will have control over what is displayed as well.
So try playing with the ICC profile in Photoshop's Save for Web And Other Devices and see if you can't get things a little more reliable. -
IS THERE ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS+ AND DREAMWEAVER
HEY EVERYONE,
I am going to be working on some websites for the first time and want to know if there is adobe Photoshop CS + and Dreamweaver available for Mac and is so where is the best place to purchase them(best price). Also, Is there alternatives to the two programs that are compatible with word press and are free or cost less. Thanks as always for your knowledge and help. What Michael means, google "Adobe Creative Cloud" - that will take you to the place where you subscribe to the Adobe suite of apps (including PhotoShop and Dreamweaver, for many hundreds of $$ per year), IIRC around $500/year to use these apps.

Photoshop cs2 to dreamweaver 8
I know this will be a very simple question for some people,
but am wondering if there is an easy answer to my question.
I am a graphic designer running creative suite 2 on the mac,
and although I am not totally stupid I still have issues with a few
basics. When I have for example my 800x600 psd/jpg file I have real
problems building it in dreamweaver. I have been told not to use
fireworks or photoshop's built in export to html/css (true/false?)
as it impliments bad code, and just to export the images and do the
rest in dreamweaver.
I don't really want to hand code the whole thing, not that I
could. But honestly what is the best way for me to do this? as
sometimes when I place the images in cells or tables the design
does not hold together (especially in safari). What is the best way
to keep sliced up images together. I can use css to style the page
no probs, but its just the basic structure I am really struggling
with. I feel once I get this basic problem sorted I will be flying
so any help would be really awesome
thanks for the help:Actually, roundtripping in CS2 was quite good from what I
hear.
Since you mentioned not be comfortable with doing the hand
coding in Dreamweaver, I would consider two options:
1) Just do the page design in Fireworks and export for use in
Dreamweaver. Open Dreamweaver and finish your page. Remember that
you can designate specific spots as HTML or graphic (JPG/GIF) in
Fireworks. You get this by selecting the slice and specifying the
property for the slice (as either HTML or a graphic image). Open in
Dreamweaver to finalize your text elements. Pretty straightforward
and you don't have to worry about individual image breakups that
you are experiencing.
2) Get energized and determined that you are going to learn
to cut images individually and then bring them into Dreamweaver and
place them. Place them by placing your cursor in the code section
and hitting return in the code section, then add your next graphic
element. If you do it visually, you may often get spacing problems
from paragraph breaks, etc. You'll have to experiment and learn the
steps on this one, but that should get you going.
Hope that helps!
Take Care,

Help needed (Photoshop work into Dreamweaver)
I am so sorry for my week knowledge. I just knew some starter commands in Dreamweaver or you can say some basic knowledge but here I am stuck and I need some serious help please.
I have used "Adobe Photoshop CS4" to create my website template and complete the slicing part, , , after that when I delete some unused little images in "Adobe Dreamweaver" and replace with the background color then there will some space came which gave a crap look to my website and unfortunately right now I can’t handle this one, what can I do to make it nice and less graphics to load it fast on any connection.
Original Without Edit:
http://gdesigner.110mb.com/update/index.html
Edited with Dreamweaver:
http://gdesigner.110mb.com/update/editindex.html
here you can see the spaces above the "Great Resources" button. I can use the background color as the same but then the problem will be between the lines, you can see the center big box upper lines are broken, if you magnify your browser then you will definately see the broken/space area. how can I fix that. I will be really thankful to you all people.
Oh wow file sharing is allowed on this so I am uploading my work so you can more see where I am getting wrong. the zip file is almost 301kb.hey there.
I'm pretty new to web design myself and I can definitely sympathize with the problems you're having; I created my first site using this method of creating a layout in Photoshop and slicing it up and all that. What resulted was a site that loaded really slow and was EXTREMELY hard to edit. The bottom line is, if you want to avoid these problems in the future you need to utilize CSS (cascading style sheets). I recommend O'Reilly's "CSS: The Missing Manual." Also check out this link to a tutorial on creating CSS-based layouts:
http://tutvid.com/tutorials/dreamweaver/tutorials/createCompleteCSSLayout.php
I'm sure there are several ways to fix your problem, but to be frank it's sort of a waste of time to create sites using the method you used.
Hope this helps,

How to put Photoshop templates into Dreamweaver
After purchasing templates and downloading, I discovered the
page layouts for the templates were Photoshop files. I made the
changes I wanted to make in Photoshop and now need to put in
Dreamweaver. There is a Flash file that is giving me error messages
when I open the index page. When I try to insert an image (the
page) it comes in a new window. I'm definitely not doing this
correctly.
Can anyone tell me how to insert them into
Dreamweaver?Actually, I had forgotten about SiteGrinder. Its code is not
bad, to tell
you the truth. They have taken alot of trouble to make things
more stable
than a slap-dash, layer-based layout, but it is, to be sure
still strongly
rooted in absolute positioning. It might be an expedient way
to go, but
there is no substitute for some good HTML/CSS knowledge.

How do I edit Photoshop files in Dreamweaver ??
Environment: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, 8GB RAM.
In Dreamweaver CS6, have graphics (.jpg) files in Assets; I double click to edit in PhotoShop and it defaulted to photoshop CS5 and then indicates that it is unable to load. Unfortunately (?) I have Phototoshop CS6. So in Dreamweaver I got to Edit > Preferences > FileTypes/Editors, but could not figure out how to relate my PS CS6 (32-bit ... gotta fix that!) to DW CS6 for editing Graphics Files.
Here is my File Types / Editors options preference screen:
What should I do?While that was helpful, I also figured out how to do it in Dreamweaver. I suspect that when I posted the original question I was just flustrated and didn't try hard enough.
Here's how in Dreamweaver:
Click on Edit in menu, then at bottom click on Preferences.
Click on "File Types / Editors" in left menu
For each graphic extension (.png, .gif, ,jpg, etc.) click on the extension (in the left scrolling panel), and then (in the right scrolling panel) click on what you want to get rid of, and above that panel click the [-] button. The program designation should go away
Then for each extension, click on the extension in the left scrolling panel and click on the [+] button for the right scrolling panel
Browse to the program (usually on your "C" drive) and double click it.
You're done.
