Photoshop Timeline View

How do you switch frome frame view to timeline view with annimation?

Hello there!
To bring up the timeline, go to Window > Timeline, as shown below.
This will bring up the Timeline window, also shown below. Note: the timeline panel is empty, as I do not have a animation set up.
To learn more about animating with Photoshop i have also embedded the video:
Please post back if you have any questions

  • Cannot change Speedgrade CC timeline view!

I want to zoom in on the timeline to see my clips better.  I can't find a tool for it.  Adobe help says, "Select the Master Timeline view from the view menu on the upper-left side of the Timeline." and then use a wheel/ctrl combination to zoom.  All well and good, except that the button I need to click (which is labeled "All") is either an on or off toggle.  The accompanying illustration on the help page shows it as a dropdown selector.
Set the Timeline view with the menu on the upper-left side of the Timeline.
I don't have the dropdown on my version of Speedgrade CC.  I can either select "All" (which highlights it blue) or deselect it (which turns it grey).
    Anyone have a solution?

So, my only options are to see the entire timeline (useless in my current project with hundreds of clips), see six seconds at a time (since I am trying to color match all clips in a scene that lasts longer than six seconds, this is also useless) or to see my in-to-out (which would require near-constant re-marking in and out points)?
I appreciate the feedback, but between incorrect documentation, non-intuitive user interface (want to clear a play head?  The only way to do so is to drag it off the timeline into the video monitor area, which doesn't work if you're using dual screen mode) and inflexibility, I've had enough of this program.
I'm going to use Resolve for this (and all subsequent) projects.
I love some Adobe products (Photoshop, After Effects), think some are almost great (Premiere), but this one is a bust.

  • Can't see clip preview in clip or timeline view

This may be a simple problem, but I am brand new to this. I am making a movie out of photos, and the process seems simple. I drag a photo from my iphoto library (from the photos pane) into the clip view (or timeline). The image is imported and the movie looks correct when played, but in the clip (or timeline) view below all imported clips are just black. So I can't really easily edit the clips because I have no idea which one is which (besides looking at the filename!). The images I am importing are jpegs and like I said it has no problem playing the movie correctly I just see what I am working with in the clip view. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum!
The image is imported and the movie looks correct when played, but in the
clip (or timeline) view below all imported clips are just black.
    Very strange.
To make sure we understand what you see... The imported image plays okay on the timeline after it's imported, but its thumbnail in the timeline is black. Instead of the thumbnail showing the imported image, the thumbnail is black. Correct?
Does the imported clip play black too?
The only thing I can think of that makes a clip play black is when the Ken Burns Effect is set to pan above/below the image or left/right of the image. Then, instead of importing the image, Ken Burns imports the black border along one side of the image.
To unset the pan so Ken Burns is centered over the image, do this:
    1. Click on any image in the iPhoto library.
    2. Turn ON the Ken Burns checkbox.
    3. Click in the "Start" half of the Start/End thingy.
    4. Drag the zoom slider (the slider with the small/large face profile) a bit to the right, then all the way to the left.
    5. Click on the "End" half of the thingy and repeat #4.
Now the import is centered. If the pan was causing the problem, that should fix it.

  • Audio tracks missing in the timeline viewer

    Hello,
I am using Imovie 4.0.1 and have been working on a project for several months and now towards the homestretch, I have lost the ability to see the audio tracks that I added to the project. I am referring to the 2nd and 3rd tracks on the timeline viewer. This isn't a killer as I have completed all of my editing and am ready to export it to my camera (to then reimport, seperate audio, and then lock--to make sure audio and video matches up) The problem is that when I export to the camera, the audio comes and goes, and some of the video stutters at times. It seems that this all might be related. Has my imovie become corrupted? All of the projects that I have worked on in the past--that are still on this computer--exhibit the same thing i.e. I can't see the audio tracks and the editing arrows (and other items) have disappeared from underneath the viewing area.
    I would appreciate any help.

com.apple.imovie3.plist is what you should have found because you are using imovie 4.
And, a new .plist should have been made by imovie when you re-launched it-so that's OK.
Sounds like you have enough HD space...are you sure you are using the Timeline viewer and not the Clip viewer?
The Clip viewer looks like this:
And the Timeline viewer looks like this:
(But these are screen shots from imovie 5 so don't let that confuse you).

  • CS4 - scroll timeline view to playhead

I am in process of updating my systems from PPro2 to CS4.
    With the timeline selected:
I mark both in and out points in the timeline. I use the hot key for "Go To In Point", then zoom in and the timeline view stays centered on the in point, moving the out point outside of timeline view.  If I use the hot key for "Go To Out Point" with the timeline selected, the playhead disappears as it moves to the right but the timeline view does not follow... it remains at the in point.
    With the Program Monitor selected:
If I use the "Go To" buttons on the Program Monitor, the zoomed timeline view does jump to the playhead position as expected.
Also If I have the Program Monitor selected instead of the timeline, the hot keys for the "GoTo' functions work as expected and the zoomed timeline view does jump to the playhead.
It appears that with the timeline selected, a hot key command to "Go To' in or out does not scroll the timeline view as in PPro2.
    Am I missing something?

It appears that with the timeline selected, a hot key command to "Go To' in or out does not scroll the timeline view as in PPro2.
Sad, but true. I've taken to slapping the Space Bar twice to get the zoomed-in timeline view to move to general vicinity of the outpoint, after using the Go To Outpoint key command. Very annoying. It is a bug, I would say, so be sure to file a bug report. Not likely we'll see another update for CS4, but perhaps they'll see fit to rectify the problem for CS5 (or 6...).

  • Open in Timeline-how to return to timeline view?

If you select a clip in the timeline and want to see it in close detail, you can right-click to open a menu of options that include "Open in Timeline." Once there, you are seeing a complete view of the whole clip with the trimmed section clear and the ends grayed down.
But this has me stumped. How do you jump right back to the full Timeline edit view? That menu has no ability to return you from whence you came. I have to click on the Project Library, select the current edit again and only then does it open the regular Timeline view.
I can't find anything in the scant Help document and "Open in Timeline" doesn't find anything here.
Any clue as to how to dismiss it?
Escape doesn't work. Undo doesn't work. Well, it does, but it undo's any changes I make, first. None of the other ideas in that drop-down menu seem to help.
    Is this a left turn into a one-way cul-de-sac?

    Thanks a bunch.
Is that hiding in the docs somewhere?
I found an alternative. Command+0 (zero), twice makes a round trip to the timeline index.

  • Where is timeline viewer mode in iMovie 11 like iMovie HD?

I only have clip viewer mode? Where is timeline viewer mode in iMovie 11' like iMovie HD? for audio and video timing  I would just click on the clock symbol. HELP?

    Hi
Bad news - There are non (Exactly as in iMovie 1 to HD6 or FinalCut)
Good news - There are sort of - at least project is presented in ONE row.
    • Click on a specific iMovie PROJECT
    • In this window - top right hand there are two small symbols - one blue three squares and one with two brown red symbols. Click on the three blue squares one.
    • to get the Audio - under this there is a small wave like symbol - Click on this.
But still this view has so many quirks that a person familiar with iMovie 1 to HD6, FinalCut, Adobe Premiere and Avid can feel a bit of serious frustration. (at least I do)

  • How do change the timeline view in PE9 to see all frames?

In PE9 I notice that many frames in timeline view appear blank. at the clip transitions the frame have images.   How do I change this to see all the frames?  In PE 2 I never had the "feature".  I assume that most are blank to reduce file handling, etc.   But I'd like to toggle the frame images on/off on command.
p.s.  when I imported a short 8 munutes series of clips direct from my HD sony camera the timeline frames were complete... but most video i'm using is old anlaog tape conversions to DVD...than dvd files imported for PE editing.
    thanks
    david

I was only half-correct. In PrPro, there is a drop-down menu, while in PrE, it's a toggle through the three possible display states:
Sorry for that, and good luck,

  • How to modify the timescale on the Timeline view in MSP 2010

I created Timeline's for some projects using MSP 2010.  Some Tinelines display quarters and others display months.  I can't find an option to change the Timeline timescale.  I tried switching the timescale onthe Gantt view but it
had no effect on the Timeline view.
Is there a direct or indirect way to change the timescale units on the Tineline view time scale?

Click in  the Timeline view and the ribbon bar for Timeline will be activated.  On the left side you should see Date Format.  Use this to select the date format you would like to view.
As i adjust the timescale using the zoom in the lower right corner it seems to be adjusting the date density.  Keep in mind that this view will also adjust to the density necessary to show the entire project in the view.  When you click on the
View tab (ribbon) you can use the option for the entire project.  Note that the Timescale options are not available.
I suggest for the best use of this view to use it at a high level.  What I recommend is to show summary and milestone taaks only.

  • Dragging clips to timeline viewer

Does anyone know why I get a message such as "this may take a while" when i attempt to drag a clip from the clips pane to the timeline viewer?" It does take a looooong time. I don't remember this happening in earlier iMovie versions.
Sometimes it also starts to "letterbox" when i do the same thing. And you can't stop these actions.
    Thanks.

    Hi Carol:
You can change the Letterboxing in the preference of iMovie:
Import/ automatic conversion from pillarbox to letterbox - you need to un-check it.
To keep from waiting for it to Letterbox, change the settings to DV Widescreen when you open a new project -If you do record in 16:9 aspect ratio.

  • Please help!! restoring canvas and timeline view

I accidentally exited the timeline view which also closed the canvas view. any ideas on how to recover them? I've tried everything!! please help!
    Thanks!

That won't bring back the canvas and timeline if they're closed. FCE won't know which sequence to open. You have open it manually.

  • Timeline View for Project 2007

    Hi,
I just want to ask if there is a timeline view in Project 2007? I've seen that there for Project 2010... but I'm stuck with 2007 here...
I was wondering if there isn't any, is there a way to display a High Level view with only few details so that it wouldn't look too cluttered when presenting.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
The timeline view introduced in Project 2010. So it's not available in 2007.
If you are looking for high level view with only few details then applying filter to show summary tasks will help you.
There is also a report by name "Top Level" tasks which displays Summary Tasks details.  You can change the content (using tables and task filters), time period (or unit), and details (including notes and objects), and you can sort the data in this report.
You can access it from Report menu >> Overview reports.
    Thank you,
    Kiran K.

  • Timeline viewer problems

When I watch my project in the timeline viewer it doesn't play properly, it skips sections and stops. It's impossible to do anything but it works fine in the clip viewer.

It will be interesting to see your system configuration. I think it is a question of processor capacity with iMovie requiring a little more in the timeline viewer.
It will perform better if you also minimise the number of applications running at the same time.
In any case I'm sure it will be fine when you export it.

  • Syncronization off from clips to timeline viewer

I have made a movie with video & stills mixed. Somewhere along the line I noticed the the scrubber bar is perfectly in sync with the clips viewer but is almost a clip ahead of the timeline viewer. I have noticed a section at the end is blank as well but it has no media, either video or audio. Does anyone have any idea where I went wrong? Any help you could give would be appreciated

  • How do you get timeline view on imovie 08  and speed up a clip on imovie 08

how do you get timeline view on imovie 08  and speed up a clip on imovie 08

    Hi
You can not - Nobody else (if not a very selected few at Apple dev.group)
TimeLine was lost in iMovie'08 and 09 and a very simple one re-introduced in iMovie'11
Speed Change - Was omitted in iMovie'08 - and returned in iMovie'09 - BUT has to be used in a certain way - the glider/slide if used - will destroy the audio (a Known BUG - in both iM'09 and iM'11) but use of pre-set fixed no. 25% 50% 100% 200% etc. will work.
Yours - still using iMovie HD6 - and LOVE it - Bengt W
