Photoshop to Motion Troubles

I am trying to import a Photoshop image that is a logo of a company. It is in black with white lettering. The background is transparent so I can import with our having a white background put on it, but that is my problem. I have tried countless ways to save in Photoshop and import in Motion keeping the transparent background but for some reason it still puts the image on top of a white background. Is there a way to fix this?

when bringing the psd file onto the canvas area dont let go straight away - wait for the "pop up" option to bring the layers from the psd in seperately - hopefully this will stop the white background problem for you.

  • Photoshop CS5 Motion Problems

I own the 64 bit version of Adobe photoshop CS5. The motion option I'm talking about resides at the top right-hand corner.
Today, I was making an animation; I drew all the frames as layers in the 'painting' mode first. I had the fx option on for all frames (outer glow). I then switched to 'motion' mode, and made frames from layers to test the animation.
It ran smoothly, but it didn't look right near the end bit, so I stopped the animation and then corrected that frame.
Big mistake. The fx glow refused to adhere to the new shape of the image in that frame. The glow continues to outline the part that I'd erased off. The new part I drew in is not covered by the glow.
I've experienced problems like this when entering and exiting Photoshop's motion mode before (other than today). I don't understand it. Is it because the motion mode destroys coding, which causes it to turn out like this? I have tried saving, exiting and reopening the file. Nothing works. The glow still exists around the part of the image that is no longer there. Meanwhile, the part of the image that I added in is not outlined by the glow. As anyone who has used the fx option before should know, the glow appears around the new part being drawn drawing whenever you draw something in the layer. It's stopped doing so on this particular layer ever since I exited motion mode.

I think I might have found the problem. The eraser tool seems to have changed the layer's colour to the background colour, rather than having
deleted the colour from the layer. So instead of having a transparent section where I'd erased things, I was left with a black shape (the same colour as the background). That's why the glow wouldn't go away; the shape was still there, just invisible by contrast.
So I have a new question. How did I get my brush to do this? The brush sometimes seems to erase perfectly well by deleting the colour in the frame. Other times it does a weird trick (like this occasion) and substitutes the colour in the layer with the background colour, making it look like it's done its job when it's just pulled a colour substitution for the background colour. What settings control whether it does one or the other?

  • Ideal workflow Illustrator to photoshop to motion

    Hi everyone.
I work with incorporating corporate logos into moving image clips. I've worked through a few issues with jitters etc so now I'm reasonably happy with the results. I think however that the quality could be even better.
    I work in PAL 720 x 576.
The question would be as to what would be the best workflow to ensure the best quality result. Almost all my logos are illustrator vector files, I currently beef some lines up to ensure they are not too thin on the screen but that is about it before I import into photoshop into a 720pixel wide document.... resave as a gif to get the transparency ..... (never used an alpha channel in my life but this may be one step to take soon).
What would be the best resolution to work in in Photoshop? What are the maximum resolution settings I can use? I use Photoshop to blur the edges if required rather than motion to try and avoid single line jitters.
What would be the best setting to get these from Illustrator to motion?
The files are then exported as high res animations to burn a DVD in DVD Studio Pro.
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks Mark.
I discovered that way late last night and yes that works a treat. Sure beats double handling the files.
For Photoshop based images I'd still like to make a note of what pixel count and resolution I should be working in to use the maximum possible resolution without wasting file size.

  • Photoshop CS5 installation trouble - ' Installer failed to initialize '

    Greetings,
Having trouble with a CS5 photoshop installation on my 4,1 2.5ghz 6gb RAM MBP.  Download goes fine, disc mounts to machine, but I get stuck on the ' Installer failed to initialize' page.  Downloaded the reccomended support advisor app, which cannot find a solution to my problem.
    The log reveals the error:
[FATAL] Setup - Unable to copy PDAppFlex.swf one level up.
Not sure where to go from here.  I've downloaded the dmg 2x, done numerous restarts, tried the cs5 cleanup tool, repair permissions....no dice.
I should mention  that I have a 48gb SSD with my OS (10.6.3) as well as a 200gb drive which has my user account on it, separate from the OS.  Not sure if this is part of the issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kyle

In order to test the utility perform the following steps -
Goto /Applications/Utilities and launch Terminal application. This will open a window and show you the command prompt like machine-name: user$. ditto is a command to copy files, so type ditto then drag a file to the terminal, and drag a folder to the terminal. This will create a command similar to -
    ditto /Users/username/Desktop/fileToCopy.txt /Users/username/Desktop/folder/
Now hit return to run the command. If the command succeedes you will not see any error on the terminal and the file (as fileToCopy.txt) will get copied to destination folder (as /Users/username/Desktop/folder/)
In case you see any error on the terminal or the file is not getting copied to the destination folder, 'ditto' might be corrupted.

  • Old photoshop user having trouble using elements

Been using an ancient copy of Photoshop for years. Got a new computer, and figured it was time for an upgrade, so I bought Elements. I've been working with it for a few days and having tons of troubles.
    1) Dell sold me Elements 8 instead of Elements 9. I did not know at the time I was getting an older version. Are there enough differences in the new version I should complain that I got an old version?
    2) I'm having a terrible time with the "Panel Bin" and "Project Bin" resetting every time I open the application. I'll get all the windows set up just the way I like them, and then when I restart the app they're scrambled or missing. I DO have "Save Panel Locations" checked in the preferences, and I would have thought that was enough. Am I missing something?
    3) Is there a way to turn off the stripe at the bottom with the Tips and Tricks icon? It's a waste of space.
    4) The Favorites panel seems handy, but so far all I've been able to add is some effects. Is there a way to add other things I use regularly, like Image Size, Canvas Size, Brightness/Contrast, and Hue/Saturation? Or is this really only "favorite effects" rather than favorite anything?
    5) After using the same grayscale tool bar since about 1993, the color icons on the tool bar now look cartoony and just plain weird. I guess I'll get used to them eventually, but is there any way to turn on the old icons?
Sorry that's a mass of questions at once. I'm just feeling a little lost in the new interface. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Some thoughts
    1. You could download the trial of pse9 and see if the hassle is worth it.
Some things are better and some are worse.
    2. Are you docking the panels or trying to keep them free floating like
your older version of photoshop did?
    3. Yes that happens when start elements with your internet on.
        See this page
    4. You can only add things from the effects and content panels to the favorites panel
like effects(actions), frames, layer styles etc.
    5. The only change in the interface is light or dark:Preferences>General.

  • Adobe Photoshop CC has trouble rendering picture

I am running windows 7 64 bit and Photoshop CC 64 Bit.   After upgrading from PS CS6 to PS CC I have encountered issues with Photoshop CC correctly rendering pictures that worked just fine in CS6.  The issue appears to be in how I have my graphics card set up in preferences.  I have a Radeon HD 7770.    The Adobe web site says this card is Supported.  The problem is intermittent.  Out of 10 times I open the same picture 60% of the file openings will not be rendered correctly.  The issue shows as black grouping of pixels in various locations of the picture.  Under the preferences option in the performance window I typically have run with the Advanced option set.  I backed off to Normal but the issue continued.  I then changed the option to Basic and the issue occurs less frequently.  After a lengthy discussion with Adobe support they said I needed to change my graphic card.  This is an expensive solution.  Is a new graphic card my only option?

Updating the driver and associated software appears to have fixed the problem.  My computer vendor said my video card drivers were current?  The pictures now display correctly consistently.  I will continue to monitor.  Thank you for your help.

  • MOTION Trouble: Gravity Behavior

Hello, I've been trying to search this forum but I just didn't have any luck finding information about this dilemma I am currently having.
Essentially, I am trying to make several photos seem to be thrown onto a desk. However, my attempts are looking extremely amateur and unrealistic. I started to mess around with some behaviors.
Specifically, the gravity behavior seems like the right behavior I need to have the pictures look like they are dropping onto the desk. At the moment, any attempt I make at tweaking the settings on "Gravity," it keeps pushing my pictures through the desk layer. I cannot get it to stop right where I want it to.
Does anyone else experience this type of problem? If so, can anyone lend me a hand?
    Much appreciation and thanks.

Ouch. The link advertises another website with a video tutorial that charges $15.99 to watch.
Anyone else having the same problem that can help me figure this out? I'm trying to do all the search I can but I just can't find any information because searching "gravity" is very broad and vague.
I tried applying "drag" to it, then I have this issue where the gravity motion slows down dramatically. There must be a simple way to do this in Motion... I'm new to it and am struggling to get around this problem.

  • Stop motion troubles

I just finished work on a stop motion video involving a crew of LEGO characters fighting to the death.  However, when I go to the begining in the timeline and try to watch it the whole way through, it messes up.  The video will play for a while, then it will freeze on an image while the playhead keeps going.  It's like my computer is freezing up on me, but I know that this is not the case.  Is it a problem with the actual footage, or is it just the program's fault?  Is there a way to smooth things over so I can view what I have created so far?

Oddly enough, all of the problems were mostly fixed as soon as I posted this question...
Also, I was unware that I had to render the footage, and things seemed to run smoother when I finally did.  Thanks for your effort though.

  • From Photoshop 2 Motion

Could someone tell my the correct aspct ratio from still pictures being cropped from Adobe PSCS2 to Apple Motion 2.
I had heard 720X480 and 720X554, i want the best picture on my TV, no pixeling just smooth picture. In Motion i am making a slideshow and the best picture is very important. Is saving from PS as .tiff or something else. Thanks again Charles

I have not had much luck with slideshows created in DSP4, they just looked bad. so i was gonna try PS and then Motion. Starting with my digital pictures from Digital camera different sizes but good quality. Now what i had heard is that you have to crop the pictures first in PS to 720X554 and then resize the picture at 720X480, (what does that do anyway?) . At the end of the day Im looking at a basic scrapbook feel. A nice background and some text, music most likely, some animation of some sort and a picture frame where the photos from PS will be in some sort of slide show form. How would a slideshow work exported from iphoto as far as quality, that would save some steps but if i'd get better quality the other way i'd do that. After scrapbook is done in Motion i was gonna export using the animation, millions of colors and set to best. This scrapbook slideshow will be then added to a DVD through DSP4 and encoded and burned to disc with the rest of my regular video already in DSP4. Sorry about the long drown out explaination.

  • Photoshop in Motion

    Gurus,
Is there a way to preserve the layer structure of a PSD file that is imported into Motion? The PSD is a flat "merged" layer if you will on the timeline. I of course need to manipulate the layers....

209 in your manual... drag the psd over your canvas and hold till the pop up box giving the options appear...
