Photoshop to PDF Issues

Can anyone help me? Until the precious update of Acorbat DC I was always able to print to a pdf in Photoshop (and Word & Publisher). Since downloading Acrobat DC I really can't do that anymore. What gives?

You can always save any file in Photoshop as a PDF.
I have no clue what "Acrobat DC" is.  If it's a subscription thing, I'll never know.  Sorry.

Problem Description: We have an operational report that returns around 43,000 records, based on a stored procedure.  The Stored Procedure itself runs pretty quickly (under ~15 seconds). The report renders in 20 seconds.
However, we get an error like “Sorry, something went wrong” (see below) approximately 2 minutes after we choose/select the PDF as a rendering extension for export. The download of the .PDF never starts.

    Things Also Done
    1) I also tried exporting the report through excel and found no issues (it exports successfully and no issue when i open the file). The size of the exported excel (.xlsx) is 4.28MB. The timerendering value for export to excel is approx. 77 seconds.
    2) I also tried creating email subscription (PDF as the rendering format) for that report and it works successfully. The size of the attached PDF from the email is approx. 1.43 MB. I can also open that PDF file with no issue. And the size of the email with
the attached PDF file is approx. 1.48 MB.
That all said, we would like to seek for your assistance to determine what is causing the failure of exporting the report to PDF issue directly from the reporting site. (Let me remind you that the email subscription for the same report with attached
    PDF works with no issue)

    Hi roel2000,
According to your description, you get error when exporting the report into PDF. It works properly when exporting in excel or PDF format within E-mail subscription. Right?
In Reporting Services, the Excel and MHTML(e-mail subscription) render extensions are soft page break renderers. The PDF render extension is hard page break renderer. It has different render behavior between these two kind of renders. This might cause the
error. Since we are not clear about your report structure, please refer to rules in the link below and do the troubleshooting.

  • Photoshop CS6 PDFs will not open in Adobe Acrobat

    Photoshop CS6; Windows 8
I've been using Photoshop to create reduced size PDFs. I've never had a problem with CS6 until the passed week. When I click to save for PDF no "error" dialogue box appears. However, when I try to open the new file in Adobe Acrobat reader a dialogue box says "Out of memory". Also, in my windows explorer, the file shows up as just a white box in the "Preview" side panel.
What am I not doing correctly all of a sudden? I've been sticking with the same preferences and Save settings since I first started using Photoshop CS5.

Have you updated Acrobat/ Adobe Reader recently? If so, this update may have introduced a compatibility issue in the globally shared Adobe PDF libraries. Either that or the update never went through properly and now you have a botched Acrobat. Do otehr PDFs from different sources open? If not, that would be a strong hint that you may need to reinstall/ repair Acrobat. It's also possible that you may have enabled sandboxing in the Acrobat Security prefs (or an update did) and thus Acrobat refuses to open certain files, if it can't determine their origins. One more thing that comes to mind: Have you tried saving the file twice in a row under the same name? Sometimes this stuff happens too fast (on SSD drives and such) and Windows doesn't update file security info in time (or your virus scanner can't keep up) and the resulting file is useless. Overwriting it with the same file would then yield correct results.

  • Photoshop to pdf via distiller help please?

I'm trying to convert a photoshop cs4 file to pdf using distiller. When I save as an EPS file, then run it through distiller I get this error:

I tried printing to Adobe PDF in photoshop, and that seems to work but the fonts don't embed, and the publisher requires a distiller produced file.
I could swear that when I did a test on an earlier version of the file it worked just fine, but have tried everything I can think of and can't seem to get it to work now. Perhaps I messed up a setting somewhere or missed a step? I'm new at this so that's entirely possible. Thanks for helping!

I see the issue you are having. A publisher would likely want you to use either the print or press settings file, or supply you one to use. I use one developed by IEEE for their publications. With where you are, if the PDF that you save from PhotoShop is what you are looking for, simply print that one to the Adobe PDF printer and create a new PDF. The fonts should be embedded. It is not clear if the fonts are just not embedded when you print from PhotoShop or they do not come through as fonts (but are simply graphics of the fonts). If they are fonts but just did not embed, then go back and try using the print or press settings. If needed, enter the options for the settings file and be sure that the fonts are set to always embed (and likely as subset fonts). If any fonts are not embedded, change that setting. In my AA7, the standard settings exclude a lot of fonts that are characteristic of Adobe. Those fonts are both embedded in the Press and Print options.
Don't know if I have helped, but it basically what you seem to need. I have given two options that may meet your needs. Bill

  • Photoshop to InDesign issues

I'm working on a magazine cover in InDesign, 8.5x11 with .25 bleeds, so the full document size is 9x11.5. I have a photo that is 1599x1066 resolution. When I have it in photoshop, I have no issues with resolution, pixels, etc. However when I try to bring the image into InDesign after minor editing, the resolution is total crap. I've tried it as a TIFF, PSD, and PDF with no luck. I'm trying to bring it in as a PSB file to maintain the quality, but InDesign won't let me use it. Any way to make that possible?

Simply put, your image is too small.
Many would state that optimum print resolution is 300 pixels per inch. At that resolution, your image is 5.33 in x 3.55 in.
    You need an image that is 9 x 11.5 x 300 ppi, or 2700 PX x 3450 PX.
So, when you place it into InDesign, in order to fill the entire area, your image has to be distorted to fit, lowering the effective resolution.
Also, in case you are not aware, most images preview in InDesign with a low resolution proxy image.  In order to see the image on screen in full resolution, change your view > display performance setting to high resolution. This still will not make up for an image that is too small, however.

  • Photoshop CC Color Issues

When I updated my Photoshop program two updates ago I began having color issues in Photoshop as the rest of the Adobe Suite.  Regardless of whether the color mode is RGB or CMYK the colors appear washed out on the program.  This image http://i.imgur.com/BWVwbx2.jpg  is an example. The image on the right is a screen shot of the original image of the shoes copied from the website, the image on the left is the same image copied into photoshop. When I try to save the RGB file as a jpeg or a PDF it looks the same as it did in the program, washed out.  However,  when the file is CMYK color mode and I try to save it as a jpeg or PDF it looks like this http://i.imgur.com/TAUyeOf.jpg. Both my coworker and I started having this issue on our seperate computers around the same time so I don't believe that it is a graphics card issue or something along those lines. How can I fix this?  I have tried calling Adobe support, but unfortunately the person on the phone was not very experienced in the program and unable to help.
    Some Info about my computer:
Currently I have Photoshop CC with the 14.2.1 update.  I have Windows 7 Professional SP1, 64-bit OS,  8 GB of RAM (7.87 GB Usable) and 360 GB free space on the (C:) drive.

Illustrator and Windows Photo Viewer agree. They should, because they're both fully color managed. I assume Photoshop shows the same.
Picasa is not color managed. All bets are off there, it can display like anything under the sun, depending on what color space the file was created in, and how your monitor displays color.
There is a basic checklist for color management issues:
1 - is the application color managed at all?
2 - is there an embedded document profile, and what is it?
3 - what is the monitor profile?
We've established #1. For #2, see in the lower left corner of the Photoshop image window. Click the little arrow and check "document profile". What does it say?
#3 is often the critical one. This is where your calibrated monitor profile should be - but if you don't do that, it's often a manufacturer supplied profile. These are often worse than worthless. The best option here is to use sRGB if you have a standard gamut monitor (like the U2412) - or Adobe RGB if you have a wide gamut monitor (like your co-worker's U3011). Yes, there is a significant difference between these two.
    Anyway:
Go to Control Panel > Color Management > Devices. Set sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as your default monitor profile there and relaunch Photoshop:
With this setting, Photoshop, Illustrator and Windows Photo Viewer will display  (more or less) correctly. It could still be that the file had the wrong document profile, or none at all, but the file will display correctly as it is.

  • Drop Shadow pdf issue

    Hi there
I'm trying to export a High Quality print Photoshop pdf with 7.5pt Helvetica LT Std white text with a 0.1mm drop shadow. The problem is that when I export it the drop shadow comes out unevenly (some letters/words/lines are bolder than others). I have tried changing font to Gautami, and also reducing the shadow to 0.075mm but with no joy. I have tried it in Illustrator and InDesign as well but with the same result.
Has anyone come across this before or got any ideas?
    Cheers
    Sean

Just to make sure: The issue persists at larger zoom values?
I am not sure but it might be an unfortunate combination of type/vector and pixels.
If you could tolerate a sharp shadow one possible workaround might be to duplicate the Type Layer, make the lower one black and offset it manually.
Another possibility would be to use
    Type > Convert to Shape
and check if the shadow goes better with this in the pdf. Of course the text would not be searchable anymore …

  • 'Import PDF' issues. Random CMYK / RGB profiling.

I batch rasterize PDF (illustrator) files in Photoshop regularly. I select all the art-boards I want to rasterize and select a color profile ... typically CMYK or RGB. Today, when I rasterized 6 art-boards (all at the same time) and selected "RGB" ... half of them rasterized RGB and half rasterized in CMYK.
Has anyone experienced this issue before?

I'm curious too if anyone else is having an issue with the loupe in Aperture 3.1.
I noticed I was getting false reading when checking color as well. The numbers were way off as you have expressed or did not read at all in a vertical images. Where as the number under the histogram seem to be correct when checking numbers. From what I've seen here it must be a issue with other or they must be using their loupe.
    K-
Hey there Kevin, I'm sure we will talk on the phone again before you read this!
I'm using this as a work around for now but, what a bummer! I've tried to see if the issue is present on my other machines and using other cameras and - it still is. Since no one else has chimed in here to share if they are experiencing these loop issues, I'm wondering if it is just you and me. Maybe no one really uses the loop with color values to color correct their images.

  • Exporting PDF Issue

When i export a pages document with images to PDF and transfer to windows to print I open the pdf in windows and the images in the PDF are inverted ie a negative of the original picture.

Have you tried exporting to a pdf-x file?
I had some issues with PDF files emailed to an account on a PC, but that was mostly because the version of Acrobat on the PC would convert all the nice colored text to icky black and white.
It was yucky, especially since I didn't have any sanitizer afterwards for my hands, which were numb from handling windows.
To answer your question about CMYK and RGB, try placing a file that is rgb beside one which is CMYK. THen let us know the result.
For more information to help figure this out, indicate what program was used to create the photos, if they come from a specific camera, and the file type (tiff, jpeg, jpeg2000, gif or Photoshop) and what, if anything, was done within Pages for them (were they masked, are they shape fills, etc)
Since there is two of you (at least) having the problem, it gives more chance to determine what is happening.

  • Unresolved Photoshop CS2 Twain Issue

    Hi,
I have an the issue with Adobe Photoshop CS2, when loading it crashes while building twain menu, if I remove the Twain Plugin from the plugins folder in Photoshop then Photoshop launches but this does not solve my problem as i can't scan from Photoshop now. I have read and attempted what is explained on this forum http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7018724#7018724 but it does not solve my problem. I have uninstalled all Cannon software and all Photoshop related files from my mac and reinstalled with the latest drivers but still no luck. the Strange thing is that it was working fine a couple of days ago, nothing changed, it just randomly stopped working.
Can anyone please help me with this issue?? I have a cannon Perfection 3490Photo scanner. thanks

Hi, Reading your discussion I think it might relate to de issue I'm experiencing. (sorry for my language, I'm Dutch)
A week ago Adobe PhotoShop Elements 3.0 worked fine. Then HP ?helped? me installing my C5280 all-in-one printer, problems with creating PDF-Files. They advised me to delete de contents of the "Cashes-folder", as well a lot of files in de "Preferences", all to do with HP or Print.
Now, when I try to start PSE-3.0, I get this massage "The programm PhotoShop Elemenents is unexpected stopped" choose [Quit], [Report] or [Open again].
I have run the installation again, not working. I thrown the folder in the trash, emptied the trash and installed again, same result, not working. Downloaded trail-version PSE-6.0, same result, also not working.
Help from Apple and Adobe, same as mentioned, they blame each-other. so no help.
I'm nearly at the point of total re-install from OS X 10.4.4 but you have to know, " I love the MAC but I'm a knit-with for IT technology.
So, I hope somebody can help me, has a good idea before I throw myself in the unknown world of re-installation.
A little background; after 1000 crashes with my windows computer I have thrown it out and bought myself an Apple. Up to now, very satisfied!!! This is the first real problem, I hope I will not be disappointed so I can tell my "Windows-friends", Apple is still the best.

  • Printing 3mb PDF issue

We created a datasheet in Illustrator CC. Saved to PDF (Acrobat pro Xl CC, save as optimized). PDF is about 2.8 mb. File can be printed in our offices on low end brothers printer and our production printer. The customer who has Acrobat Pro 9 can look at the file but they can't print it. I tried saving it as Acrobat 9 version. That did not help
    More Details:
The file was an illustrator cc file 2 pages. Mostly vectors created in Illustrator and and 5 - jpgs that were then saved in photoshop after being sized to what we needed in the illustrator document. (One raster is 3in by 2in, the others all 1.5 by 1.5 in). All rasters were placed into the illustrator file. Within Ily raster is set to 72ppi. No save embeded pdf used when saving the illy file in ai format. When Illy file was saved as pdf (small document size opton was used ). The pdf was then optimized in Pro Xl with no embedded fonts etc.. The pdf was about 15mb coming out of illustrator and was 2.7 after optimizing in Acrobat Pro Xl.
On our side we have printed the file from a windows 8 and windows 7 environment. The windows 8 environment is printing to a brother MFC-J471ODW - just a small office printer from a Lenovo laptop with 8mb Ram 2.80 i-5 3360 processor. Windows 7 environment is printing to a high end production machine but I don't have any more details on that machine yet  (separate office). I will have to get more details from our client on their end. I do know they said that opening the file took a long time and didn't print at all and that they sent it to someone who had a "higher" end machine in the office (running cad etc) and they had the same issue. When I tried to explain that our file was relatively small they said it was huge compared to other pdfs they get in from vendors. Tried to explain why other pdf's maybe smaller.   I realize this is probably a computer/printer problem on their end since we can print fine in our offices but I want to make sure I have done everythign on our side to investigate and ensure it really isn't our problem.

We often hear of problems of this type, i.e., graphically-rich PDF files opening and viewing correctly on screen, but failing to print at all, print completely, or print correctly on certain printer models.
Generally speaking, when these files are made available for us to examine here at Adobe, we find nothing wrong with the files themselves and that they print without a problem on the printers we have in house, admittedly a very small sample of the literally tens of thousands of printer models out there.
The vast majority of the problems we receive are for printing to non-PostScript devices. For PostScript printers, Acrobat and Adobe Reader actually generate their own PostScript from the PDF, letting the driver insert specific /setpagedevice operators to control paper feed and paper size as well as any other printer custom functions. For non-PostScript devices, Acrobat and Adobe Reader (and for that matter, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop as well) depend upon the printer driver provided by the printer manufacturer. Unfortunately, many of these drivers are less-than-stellar in converting GDI (in Windows) to whatever protocols, including PCL or even raster bitmap, might be used by their particular device.
Here is what we would recommend for problems with a particular printer:
    (1)     Check and see whether it supports PostScript as well as some other PDL (page description language). If it does support PostScript, but you are using a driver for a different PDL such as PCL5 or PCL6, install and use the PostScript driver.
    (2)     If the printer has absolutely no support for PostScript (whether Adobe PostScript or CloneScript), see whether the printer manufacturer has posted an updated driver on their website. Often, the printer drivers shipped with Windows or even the printer itself are fairly old and have been replaced by newer, fixed versions.
    (3)     If all else fails, there is the Print as Image option in Advanced Print Setup. Select that option along with specifying the resolution of the device itself. As a result, Acrobat or Adobe Reader effectively serves as a RIP and yields a full page raster image for the driver, generally bypassing driver anomalies (although sometimes some dodgy drivers seem to choke on large raster images). Print as Image yields gigantic queue files and is relatively slow, but sometimes it provides the only way of printing to poor quality device / driver combinations.
At Adobe, we really wish there was a better solution to this, but unfortunately, there are printer vendors who cut corners for lower prices and higher margins, leaving their customers in the lurch. (Unfortunately, the popular press really doesn't do much in the way of really testing printers anymore. Talking heads tend to make recommendations based on price and check-list features as opposed to reliability and true quality!)

  • Converting Photoshop to PDF

I have a milti picture file on photoshop that is too big to copy to a single cd.  Is there a way that I can convert this to a pdf slideshow that will fit?

Do you understand that if you have a PSD that WON'T fit on a CD because of its size, and you want to make a PDF that WILL fit on a CD, then you'll be losing something in the translation?  If this was done in the past chances are it was accomplished because the images were compressed using lossy JPEG compression in the PDF, by someone who didn't understand that quality loss was occurring.
Keep in mind that if you're doing lossy compression, you ARE losing quality.  This may not be what is wanted by whomever it is asking you archive this stuff.
Be sure and understand what you're requirements are, and ask whether lossy compression would be acceptable.  It's going to be better to deal with this now, instead of a year from now when you cannot reconstitute the original data quality.
If what's wanted is really perfect data archival, you might want to consider alternate forms of archival - such as a DVD-R or even Blu-Ray DVD.  These all have bigger capacity than a CD-R.
Edit:  I've just read the rest of the thread.  It appears you have covered this issue already.  Sorry; I should have read through it first.

  • Adobe Photoshop Touch Question / Issue

    Hello,
I bought Adobe Photoshop Touch some time ago for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and I liked it so much. Of all the apps I had for photo editing, this one gave me all I need. I used to own Adobe Photoshop CS2 on my old PC so I wanted something for my tab as well. I was very satisfied by this app until my tab died some time ago. After a pain of service and repairs, the tab worked again but it had a new issue. Anytime I used the device on something more demanding (i.e. playing games ) the tab overheated a lot and the screen started to touch itself very much as, if it was pressed all the time. After some time of struggle with it I decided to wipe it clean and pass it out to a family member who would maybe dedicate more time to fix it.
Last month I bought myself a new device ( Sony Xperia Z ) and I was eager to get all my data on it and apps of course. To my sadness Adobe Photoshop Touch is not compatible with my device now, and it just sits there in my app list doing nothing . I could install only Photoshop Express but it does not give me the full access I had with Touch. I saw that there is another product called Photoshop Touch for smartphones and it seems to be the same as what I had only phone edition.
My problem is that I can not get this new app unless I pay for it and I do not wish to do that because I already paid for the previous edition.
My question is: Can I somehow obtain the Smartphone edition and the previous version ( which apparently is for tablets I suppose ) be removed from my Google Play account. I would purchase the smartphone version but there is no point in having 1 app 2 times.
I would happily like the staff to remove my previous version from my account if they would gave me the smartphone version and I acknowledge that the tab app was more expensive than the smartphone version and Adobe will not refund me the money difference nor are they obligated to give me the smartphone version. I am just asking if it would be possible because I like that app and it's such a shame for it to be in my app list and not be used. Thank you for your time in reading this and no matter what answer I get, I will be ok with it. Have a nice day .

I don't think you'll have much luck. PS Touch for tablets was designed for just tablets; PS Touch for phones was designed for just phones. Touch for phones came out a little later than Touch for tablets. (By several months, if I recall.) On the brighter side, if you ended up buying Touch for phones, you'd be covered no matter which device you had.
Both are very similar in function. I believe the only differences are their UIs; Touch for tablets is landscape-oriented-specific while Touch for phones is portrait-oriented. (Some elements are also placed differently.) I imagine this allows for maximum utilization of screen real estate and element placement.
