Photoshop und server based computing / thin clients

hallo!

out of the box.

anspruchslosen Office-Programmen.

  • Diff between Thin client and Rich client

    Hi Everyone,
Can someone give me a clear picture of the what is the diff between Thin client and Rich client.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi,
thick client (rich client) has/stores all the data inside itself
so it can do application processing without the server with data
thin client uses resources from host computer (from server)
and wihtout that you are not able to work with that kind of client
does that answer your question ?

  • What is thin client ?

Please expalin me what is "Thin client? and what is seemless connections among all the 4 Tiers in HFM Applivation? and what is Classic HFM Application? and What is Artifacts?

    Hi,
If we access a clients from web based are thin clients. We can access HFM through workspace or direct HFM weblink.
The client tier contains the user interface and the ability to communicate with the application tier. You can display data and metadata, enter data, and maintain metadata in this tier. From the Web server tier, you access the Web-enabled portions of Financial Management. The middle tier contains the domain intelligence and connections to the relational database and The data tier contains the relational database and all Financial Management data and metadata.
we can create two types of application in HFM classic or EPMA. Classic applications are individual to each application.
In EPMA we can share same dimention structures among multiple applications. dimension library maintains the dimension and application library maintains the all the application whinch is created in EMPA only.

  • How to use authid with rwservlet via WebLogic Thin Client

    1. Using J2EE Thin Client for WebLogic (WL) to submit interactive requests for Oracle Reports (App Server 10g) running on another server without SSO.
    2. After starting basic Infrastructure, we start rwserver in batch mode (no other mid-tier components are used).
    3. It appears that the cgicmd.dat file in the Thin Client conf directory on the WL server controls the DB access with the key:connect string info it has.
    4. We had been allowing the testers to come in via the web through a SunOne (iPlanet/Netscape) web server instance, which in turn connects to the WL server running the Thin Client instance.
    5. We noticed that anyone could run rwservlet to view report status with the showjobs command via a URL through the same mechanism as point #4 above, and were concerned about security of the reports - "bad".
    6. Then someone realized the showmap command could also be specified, and thus see the DB connect string (Id/pw/SID) - "worse".
I researched securing Reports, and read through the white paper, "Securing Oracle9i Reports", and although it discusses security without using SSO, all it says is "users accessing a secured instance of Oracle9iAS Reports Services will be challenged to identify themselves by the Reports Servlet, using its own authentication mechanism (as with Reports6i)", but I can find no explanation of how that works, nor how it would work with the WL Thin Client.
    Questions:
    1. How are the Id's/passwords set up under AS 10g "as with Reports6i" in this environment going through the WL Thin Client?
    2. Is there anything else that needs to be done to secure the created reports, and the connect string info (i.e. using authid with rwservlet?showjob, and not allowing the rwservlet?showmap to be executed at all)?
    TIA,
    ROC

    the JDBC Developer's Guide (11gR2)
gives an example in chapter 9 under "JDBC Thin Driver Support for Encryption and Integrity", sub- "Setting Encryption and Integrity Parameters in Java"
from Oracle SQL Devloper, without redirecting the client to use the OCI/thick driver, choose, new database connection, connection type Advanced. add the entry from the example noted above to the Custom JDBC URL form.
    for example:
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.setProperty(OracleConnection.CONNECTION_PROPERTY_THIN_NET_ENCRYPTION_LEVEL,"REQUIRED");
    prop.setProperty(OracleConnection.CONNECTION_PROPERTY_THIN_NET_ENCRYPTION_TYPES,"(AES128)");
    OracleDataSource ods = new OracleDataSource(); ods.setProperties(prop); ods.setURL(jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=xxxx)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=xxxx)(INSTANCE_NAME=xxxx))));
    Connection conn = ods.getConnection();
strange side note!, we could not get this to encrypt unless the sqlnet.ora file included the SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_SERVER=required. if this was set to default(accepted), and even though the jdbc thin client properties set to required, the network traffic was still clear text.
    good luck

  • Is Lc Designer ES4 a server-based tool only?

Hi - I am working with Lc Designer ES4 and I noticed I cannot PREVIEW PDF (grayed out on view tab). Is this upgrade application only server based and not client based? Is there a client based version like ES2. Maybe I missed making changes to the default settings so I can preview PDF instead of via URL?

did you check out this link:
Where is PDF preview tab in designer?

  • JDBC thin client downloads locally, not through internet

Using same code, environment, server, etc,:
the thin client will download successfully if the server is accessed as part of the internal network. Access with the server outside the local network (via internet) does not seem to download all the parts of the thin client.
I have tried with the thin client jars (both), and with classess rather than jar (so I can see where it stops).
    The environment is O8iEnterprise, NT server4 (SP6), IIS, JRUN 2.3x, IE5, java 1.2x/applets, 1.3 plugin
What am I missing for the internet access setup? Thx.

  • Wyse Thin client not connecting to Windows 2008 R2 server

    Configuration
    SBS 2011 Server
Windows 2008 R2 server with Remote Desktop Services installed, License Manager installed.
WYSE WT3125SE thin clients with Windows CE 5
I setup the Windows 2008 with Remote Desktop Services and was able to successfully connect the Thin client.   Then I installed the License Manger and applied my Open license using User Cals.  Was able to login.  Next day I get the following
error-"Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer.  Verify that you are logged onto the network and then try connecting again"    I still can connect fine from other machines even Windows Home Ed.
I remove license server and still was unable to connect.   Built a second Windows 2008 R2 server with RDS on it.  Was able to connect without issue.   Pointed it to the first RDS server license manager and have still been able to connect with
the Thin Client.   The thin client can rdp to the SBS server without issue in admin mode, can connect to RDS2 server but not RDS1 with the license manger.    So my issue is with the license and so my question is what is it with the license server
running on that server that is keeping thin client from connecting.  I even did a reload of RDS1 and tested connecting throughout the process and it worked up until I applied the license and then it stops. And then if I uninstall the license, rds, remove
from domain still not able to connect.  Any help would be appreciated.

We had the same problem with older terminals after cloning a 2008R2 rds server and sysprep it.
The original rds server worked fine but when the old terminals connect to the new 1 they come up with the error : Because
of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer.  Verify that you are logged onto the network and then try connecting again"
After reading all of the postings about this issue and tried the reactivate solution of the license server,
I was sure that it had something to do with the x509 certificates that are generated the first time you connect to a valid license server.
What I did, I installed a new license server activate it but did not install licenses on it.
I pointed the defective rds server to the newly installed license server and deleted the following registry keys:
               HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM
    Certificate
    X509 Certificate
    X509 Certificate ID
    X509 Certificate2
    Then reboot.
After the reboot all old terminals can connect fine again. As final step I pointed the rds server to the same license server as the other ones,
    reboot and all worked fine.
So conclusion is that when you pont a rds server to a license server that has the new type of licenses on it it will generate the wrong x509 certificates
that are not supported by the older clients, by pointing it first to 1 without any rds calls on it, it generates the older x509 certificates which are compatible with the older rdp clients then the switch to new license server will then not regenerate the
x509 certs so it keeps working.
    I hope this helps someone
This issue was driving me crazy so very happy that it is resolved now
    Cheers Frits

  • RDC for MAC cannot connect to TS server with error message "You were disconnected from the Windows-based computer because of problems during the licensing protocol".

the mac clients are running RDC for mac version 2.1 and they cannot connect to Windows 2008 R2 TS server. They get the error "You were disconnected from the Windows-based computer because of problems during the licensing protocol".
really appreciated if someone have a fix for this.
    thanks,

    Hey,
Any proposed answer for this ?
I face the same problem and my environment
and I've got same results as dle2k
    1. TS lic mode is set to per user confirmed it works for windows clients.
    2. the TS server's system log logged error "The Terminal Server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client".
    3. the reports shows per user cal has been issued to users. no temp per device cal has been issued.
    4. yes, CoRD works .
    5. we tried version 2.1.1 of the Mac RD Client but it also does not work.

  • Essbase/ Analyzer 5.0.x server setup/ thin client access

Hi all,We are in the process of implementing Analyzer/ Essbase in our company, and would like to have it spread throughout the enterprise. We are very new to this and somewhat inexperienced. We would definitely like to use thin client for Analyzeer, b/c of the many different departments/ # of users, and to plan for future growth. We are currently using Essbase v. 6.1.4 and would like to use Analyzer to view the data, along with reports creation. The server is configured as follows:c: (OS,Hyperion software)-4GB NT4 sp6a128 d: (index) 10 GB e: (data) 80-100 Gb We have plenty of disk space and memory. Can anyone, from experience, please assist me wih config. recommendations- hardware, and software, along with virtual memory, IIS config? I have read the manuals, but would like to hear from users with real-life experience. Thank you in advance- any input is greatly appreciated. Take care...

If you are going to use the web based Analyzer, you may want to consider 6.0. I do not believe Analyzer 5.0 web client has all the functionality of 5.0 windows client. Analyzer 6.0 web addresses this issue. As for installation, because of some of the web application setup complexities, we had a Hyperion consultant install it for us. We are using Oracle 8.1.7 as the respository and IIS as our web server.Hope this helps.Patrick DeKenippBusiness Systems AnalystEstee Lauder [email protected]

  • Thin Client and Mac Server OS

Where would I go to see if it is possbile to run an os server like an application server with thin clients loggin on to different profile.

    Using a GUI? no.
Mac OS X supports multiple users logged into a server, but only one active GUI session - the others are limited to shell-based logins.
I recall something about some company doing something along these lines via some kind of VNC interface, but I don't recall the specifics.

    Q. I have Photoshop Elements 4.0. Can I use it on a windows Vista based computer.

Mac OS Extended is not an OS, it is how the drive is formatted. This format will not work with a PC. If you reformat (erase) the drive with a PC format, it will work with a PC.

  • Reports 9i/10g J2EE Thin Client for Websphere Application Server 5.x /6.x

We are having Reports developed in 6i which needs to be migrated to Reports 9i/10G and we want to deploy these reports in web using Websphere Application Server 5.x /6.x without Oracle iAS.
Do we have Reports 9i/10g J2EE Thin Client for Websphere Application Server 5.x /6.x and if so please let me know.
Also if anybody has the configuration details please let me know?
    Thanks in Advance.

No there is not. I don't think you can use reports services with Websphere - besides as far as I know it is not supported by Oracle (not anywhere in their support matrix).

  • AAA Server IP Pool based on AAA Client

    Hi,
I have a scenario where I need to be able to allocate an IP address to a user group from a pool on the AAA server based on the AAA client that the user authenticates against.
So for example if the user comes in on CPE1 they get assigned an address from Pool A, if they come in on CPE2 they get an address assigned from Pool B.
Any pointers on how to do this (if possible) would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

With ACS v4 you could do this....
Define your pools and add your devices to their own NDGs. Then define a NAP which is triggered off each NDG. Each NAP can use its own group mapping scheme which each target group using a different IP pool.
Probably only works when users are external as you need group mapping to make it work.
A bit cludgy.. but should work.

  • Monitoring an applet on a thin client from the server

    Hello all,
I'm not even sure if this is possible or not, but here is what I would like to do.
I want to be able to monitor an applet running on a remote thin client device from the central server to determine if there have been any problems (exceptions, device failures, etc).
I'll be using java 1.5.0. If you require more info please let me know.
    Thanks,

But would anyone know if there is a similar method for applets?
What makes you think you can't use that technique in an applet? Use that, and contact the server when there's an uncaught exception.
You'll probably want to report a number of caught exceptions too (unless you're really bad at handling exceptions).
Best bet is to use a utility class on your applet with a method like "logError(Throwable t, String message)" which will send the details up to the server, maybe output to the console, maybe even pop up a dialog. If you did this via an interface you could plug in different implementations and compound them if required.
