hi all i just wondered can you ",say import an avi video into photoshop and draw on each inividual frame with the drawing tools" and then make it back into a movie which includes all the changes you have made??

Yes. That's exactly what the feature is for. Note that Video Layers are only supported in Photoshop Extended.

Photoshop merging layers question.

hey guys. So i have a complicated photoshop document that I am going to use for silk screening. Aka i have layers that have adjustments of threshold, with different blending options, etc. I want to merge it down to a flat image so I can select each color on the document (the process for silkscreening), but when i flatten image, merge visible, or even save as a tiff or jpg, the threshold layers dont merge for some reason. Any ideas?

I think it might be because they're not actually layers, but avatars of alpha channels. But really, don't accept that as the last word on the subject.

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked

Video layers with Rectangle Marquee Tool

I have 6 video layers open in Photoshop. I am using the Marquee Tool to delete areas of the video layers (so I could see the layer(s) behind). Once I do this I realise that the deleted areas are only visible on that frame of the video timeline. I want the deleted areas to stay consistent throughout the whole timeline. I originally was going to do this in Premiare however I realised it would be too time consuming for the many sections I wanted to create.
Is there a way to select areas of a video layer and delete these areas showing the layers behind, and for it to be visible throughout the whole time line?

The problem with using layer masks is that I will have to selectively hide/show each area that I want on all 6 video layers. I have a grid of 78 rectangles that I'm trying to selectively chose what areas of the 6 video layers.
Basically I'm doing a test video where I have 6 different videos recorded at different focal lengths - showing different areas of the shot in focus and out. I'm using the grid to cut out sections thereby showing areas in focus and out of focus.
I attach a screen shot of the grid with the image and without. Doing a still image is fine. I just want this be able to do this with the video.

Extending video layers across the time line simultaneously

Any one Know how to extend video layers across the time line simultaneously?
I have been working on a Video for a few days and have all the layers I need to make my video but when I came to start creting the clip on the timeline there was no promt asking me how long I want the clip to be. I want to extend all the layers on the clip to 21:10 seconds similtaniously. Ther is about 600 layers in numorous groups and I dont want to have to extend each layer across the time line to 21:10 seconds individualy?
can any one help?

it is currently lacking the ability to adjust the length using multiple layers at once. However that said, if you are done animating the layer individualy, you can select all layer (or a partial) and convert them to a smart object. That smart object can then be extended in time. Playing in photoshop maybe slower due to the smart object.

Photoshop Video Editing

What do you guys think about video editing in Photoshop? Is it powerful enough to use in a real production or would you prefer premiere?
Here are some issues l'm running into:
-I am unable to play videos in the timeline if they are large file sizes like 250 mb.
I have 24 gigs of ram in my machine.
-When I render (export video), the video size are huge.
Often 3 times the size of the original video.
Are there any settings to reduce video size while maintaining image quality when rendered?
-Is it better to render an mp4 file or single frames?
Any help is really appreciated.

I launch PS CS3 Extended and open a .mpg video file taken with a Sony DSC-W80 (mainly a still camera).
Nothing about animation showed. Window>Animation gives me a timeline across the bottom of the screen. The video is called Layer 1. If I click a small icon at the lower right of the timeline I receive this warning: "This will convert timeline keyframes to a frame animation. Video layers will not play back in the frame animation." Since I have no idea what that means, I cancel. Then I decide to do a simple export. File>Export>Render Video and accept all the defaults. The default file type is .mov
I get the progress bar. I open the .mov in the QuickTime player. The motion is fine. There is no audio. I can add that when I previewed the video inside PhotoShop there was no sound either.

Multiple Video Layers in Color

Apologies as I am new to Color, and this is a real noob question, but I haven't been able to find an answer yet.
I have an FCP project that has overlapping video layers (that implements the crop tool). However, when I send it over to Color, it only shows the topmost layer with no cropping present. Does this mean that Color will not recognize this feature?
If so, any work arounds?

I'll start by saying your mileage may vary here.
Generally speaking, Final Cut Pro "Motion" settings get converted to "Geometry" settings in Color.
That said, I haven't done a crop in V2 overlaying on V1, and sent to Color. Just haven't had to do that.
Real easy way to check if your specific settings work.
1. Create a very short sequence in FCP that does what you're trying to do. Just do the two clips, one on V1, and the cropped one on V2.
2. Send to Color
3. Look at the Geometry tab for both clips. Did the settings make it over on the V2 track? They should have.
4. Either way, go ahead and render the clips, and then send back to Final Cut Pro. Even if you don't see all of the settings, they're definitely in the XML that Color received from Final Cut Pro, and Color should send them back to FCP on the return trip.
5. What should happen is that once you're back in FCP, your original motion settings will have made it through the round trip, and you'll get pretty much what you expected.
Then again, you may find that all of your video is upside down and purple, and all of your audio has somehow been converted to Spanish. Welcome to Color 1.0.x.

Photoshop Video has no audio when playing WMV files, please help.

Hello. My Photoshop video editor works great with MOV files after installing Apple Quicktime the other day.
Today I tried to load a WMV file into Photoshop's video editor. I get the video, but no audio. (The subject file plays perfectly in Windows Media Player.) The master audio mute at the left end of the timeline window says the audio is not muted (and I test toggled while running the video). And the video properties dialog that is accessible on the video clip icon itself shows the audio is not muted, and that the volume is set at 100%. I see no other place where the audio could be killed.
QUESTIONS:
1) Is this another file type compatability issue, and if so, how can this be fixed?
2) Would Apple Quicktime PRO be appropriate to convert the WMV file into a MOV file, so that I could then work with all of my WMV files?

Load the movie into QuickTime Player, open the Movie Inspector (Window menu), and look at the Format section. That will show the codecs used for the video and audio, the audio being the second one listed. Post that information here and someone can probably tell you what you'll need.

Keep audio and video layers linked in AE

Is there any way to keep the audio layers linked to the corresponding video layers in AE so that the audio will automatically follow when ever I move a video layer?

That's a bit disappointing though, since precomping individually tens of videolayers pasted from premiere will take a lot of time. It would be a nice feature for AE if you could tell audio layers to follow videolayers automatically. Actually when you think of it, it would be a great feature for any kind of layer: to be able to link two layers together so that moving the other in time will move the other also! Ah, and this brings me to another thing that I have been missing for a long time: the ability to group layers on a timeline in to folders for easy management (my comps have sometimes hundreds of layers and it would be very nice if I could organize them with folders, just like in Photoshop)!
What do you guys think? Is there any other way to accomplish these things? Could there be any expressions that might come to rescue?

Video layers in CS6 - not reflecting file changes

we do 3D rendering, breaking images into 3D render passes that we render to a directory, then load those passes up as video layers to put them back together in Photoshop. Everyday we make 3D adjustments, render every night (to files of same name in same location), and in the morning pull up the PSD- where all the passes SHOULD have updated.
This workflow all worked fine with CS5.5 extended, but in CS6, the video layers don't seem to be automatically updating, and we're getting the prior day's definitition, while there are no indications that the file isn't found.
This problem is on Windows7 machines, and we've disabled the windows search service thinking the defnitions were still in the cache - to no avail.

first time it is showing correct output of JcoTest2 .if i change JcoTest2 and copy and run .jsp is outputing the old program value.
.I used to complie my program in local machine and copy the class file and jsp file into the server(linux).

Slow motion in Photoshop video

I'm watching a photoshop video tutorial and it says that I can right click a video clip in my timeline and it will pop up a dialog box that allows me to change the duration and speed to create a slow-mo affect. But, when I right click, I just get a motion dialog box that only allows me to pan and zoom. Any suggestions?

Would it be worth trying a new video project? Starting again? Or going back to basics and watching a couple of tutorials?

IME sometimes going back to basics when you are stuck, turns out to be quicker in the long run. You also tend to pick a lot more watching the tutorials for a second time when you have a grounding in the subject matter.

How do I apply Smart Filters to video layers?

Hello! This is my first time making an animated GIF in Photoshop, so I'm a little frustrated. I've looked all over the web and on the Adobe site on how to apply filters throughout all video layers. All resources tell me to "convert the video layer into a Smart Object and apply filters, which will carry throughout the other layers." I open up my GIF file and convert my very first layer/frame into a Smart Object and apply my Reduce Noise filter; when I do this, the filter only applies to the first layer/frame and not for the other 187 layers/frames. Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong?

put levels on which you want to apply the filter, you will see them in the time line as a group ten apply filter, you can also adgust them all in time line...

How do I disable the timeline feature for non-video layers?

I know there is new feature in Photoshop CS6-timeline that allow to edit vid in Photoshop.
But this make file get bigger and bigger even this feature convert image layers to video layers.
I don't need this, but I can't find how to disable timeline and discard frame animation.

All you can do is hide the timeline. Windows>Animation or Windows>Timeline (Not sure which it is on CS6)

Frozen Video Layers????

I have a project incorporating several video layers layed out on top of each other forming a larger composite... like a David Hockney photo joiner. The project runs for 10 seconds. I've used this method countless times. However, suddenly the video layers are frozen when I run through the timeline, and when I export as a quicktime movie it again just renders 10 seconds of the frozen frame. As I have mentioned, I have used this method hundreds of times, and saved projects which have worked previously now suffer from the same frozen image problem. Anyone got any ideas what went wrong?
The only thing I can attribute to the problem is that I moved the files to an external hardrive which maybe wasn't mac os extended formatted. But if I drag the project back onto the desktop and open, the problem still remains.
I have about 40 projects all ready to be exported as quicktime movies, all suffering tee same problem. I don't think I can bear having to do them again in Afetr Effects or something.

i've admitted defeat and redone the projects. for some reason, i could open the file... everything appears as it should, but as soon as i move the timeline it starts to render the frames i'm viewing then freezes - as if it can't cope with it all.
all the layers still have their video icons, ekim. and i haven't changed the status of the layers or animation... all layers are smart objects and the animation is on timeline rather than frame animation. it doesn't seem to matter how many video layers i have. some projects have 2, others up to 30. having redone them again, it works until i save them and re-open (obviously saved as a psd file, ramon).
therefore, i've concluded this is photoshop's way of keeping me efficient, completing work as i go along.

Is there any way to merge 2 video layers to one without exporting?

Is there any way to merge 2 video layers into one without exporting as a new QuickTime movie? I have tried opening a blank player to copy and paste into, but it always forces it to be layered, even when I change the layer numbers both to zero. I tried extracting the video layers and omitting the audio tracks. Then I saved it as a new self contained movie. I am trying to burn the video to dvd with Roxio Easy Media Creator 9's MyDVD on WIndows XP, but I am also using a MacBook with QuickTime Pro. MyDVD will only recognize one video and audio layer at a time, hence, the other layers get skipped. There should be an easy way to merge two video layers without having to export it as a new movie, which takes 2 hours for this 2 hour TV show. Thanks for any answers.
