Photoshop will not save edits

Photoshop CC 2014 will not save edits and has to be closed via Control alt delete and the edits are lost- hopin someone can help.
thanks,John

It still would not work and I was tearing out what little hair I had left. I phoned Adobe this afternoon and a very helpful chap took over my computer and did various things to Photoshop including using the CC tool again, uninstalling and reinstalling and removing some Photoshop files in Program files on the computer. I am very pleased to report that it now works perfectly.
The only caveat is that all my plug-ins have disappeared. But having said that, I wonder if they caused the problems and Photoshop works much more quickly without them. I may not take the risk of reinstalling them as Photoshop does pretty well all you need anyway.
Thank you very much indeed for your help and all the best,
John

  • Aperture will not save edited photos

I recently noticed that after I finish editing a photo and quit the program it does not save the edited version. Coud it be that I have my aperture library on another hard drive. Every time I go to use aperture I plug my hard drive inot my computer and open aperture. What should I do?

Having the library on the external drive should not cause this problem. Does it happen with all images or only some?  Is this problem new, if so what if anything has changed?
As a test you should create a new library on the system drive, add a few images to it, make adjustments and see if that works.

  • Photoshop will NOT save any paths! Grrrrr!

Is anyone else having trouble lately with Photoshop not saving paths? I am a seasoned user and am on a Mac, have all the latest software, etc. I save the path, make it a clipping path, save the file, close the file and then upon reopening, the path is gone. Is there a silly setting I accidentally hit? This is crazy-making!

Well, I take back what I said...  I finally got in front of my workstation and tried it.
File - New, created a path with the Pen Tool, then File - Save As, JPEG.
Sure enough, when I opened it back up the path was still there.
See if you can open this up and see a path in it...

  • Photoshop will not save to NEF format, WHY????

this has caused me to discontinue use of hte product, except in very rare cases.  Definitely will never upgrade until this is an option.

That's absurd.  a Photoshop processed image can NEVER be a raw file.

  • Photoshop will not save file extension, how do I fix?

When saving any file, Photoshop saves only the filename without the extension- i must manually add the extension in finder- nightmare! Help Chat sucks so here I am. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but it still doesn't work- any ideas??

First, make sure you have extensions visible in the OS.
Then check Photoshop's preferences and change it back to always saving extensions.

Use iPhoto. What's the problem with iPhoto import? It's a two clicks job. Select your device and click import.

  • Photoshop CS will not "save" or "save as" my canon 5d jpegs

CS works fine for me. No need to upgrade. But it does not like my jpeg files from a Canon 5d. The program just freezes when I try to save or save as.
I've looked at the file permissions and preferences. Can't see anything, but who knows? Any advice gratefully received. Tried renaming file, tried converting to TIFF but no luck so far. Argh!
I'll attach a file if anyone wants to look at the settings.
    Best wishes, Patrick,

Just replied in the PS forum. Yes reset all tolls works. File opens and Saves As - but on opening gives warning
"embedded ICC profile cannot be used as is invalid. Ignoring."
So somewhere - uploading from camera or loading into PS something sometimes goes wrong.
So I'm not much wiser, but thanks for the fix anyway. Best, P.
PS Was not a freeze as such, the main screen dims, and I regain control by clicking on a PS window on my second monitor. Did not check what Task Manager has to say - but will next time it goes wrong. Thanks.

When you save "freeze" do you mean that Windows Task Manager says it's "not responding" or is it crashing or what?
Out of curisity, when you do this, what happens when you press ESC on the keyboard? If the program comes back, then it might just be showing up off the screen.
You might just try resetting preference per this FAQ:

photoshop will not allow me to save to web any more?

I uninstalled Photoshop CC along with the preferences.
I restarted, and logged back into Creative Cloud
    where i reinstalled Photoshop CC.
Began immediately working in the program
and of course testing  the save for web feature along with the other save options.
Seems that all is well. I hope this works for you as it did me.

  • Photoshop CS6 - Batch function will not save files

OK, I have used the "Automate/Batch" function well over a hundred times, so this situation (first time using it in CS6) is VERY frustrating!
    Running Adobe CS6 extended v. 13.0.1 x32 on a Win XP sp3 OS.
I have a slew of photos that need nothing done except to resize from the native file size to 6 in x 4 in @ 150 ppi and save into a new folder (to not override the original).  I have recorded the action multiple times now and each time I run the action, the files do not save! Here are the various parameters I've used:
    Attempt #1:
         Action Steps Recorded -
    Open
Save for web (set size parameters here)
    Close
          Batch settings -
Play Set: correct folder selected; Action: correct action selected
Source: folder - selected folder where native files are located (on desktop)
NO checkmarks next to any options
Destination: folder - selected folder where small files should be saved (on desktop)
    NO checkmark on override action
Did not change file naming parameters
Result #1 - DID NOT SAVE FILES
    Attempt #2:
         Action Steps Recorded -
    Open
Save for web (set size parameters here)
    Close
         Batch settings -
Play Set: correct folder selected; Action: correct action selected
Source: folder - selected folder where native files are located (on desktop)
    Cehckmark override Action "Open" commands
Destination: folder - selected folder where small files should be saved (on desktop)

Please help!  This has never been a problem before CS6 and I truly am at my wits end trying to figure out why the files will not save.  I have several hundred files that I need to run this on, so doing it individually is not an option.
Thanks in advance for any and all insights!

I'm having a problem with Automating > Batch as well. Strange enough, I did a batch of other photos and it worked fine. Selecting a new set of folders is not working at all; the files simply pop open and then close but the destination folder remains empty. It also doesn't appear the actions are occuring since I don't see them highlighting as the automation runs. I have no idea why it would work then not. BTW, "Override Action "Save As" is unchecked.
    ~CG
UPDATE: I put a "save as" command at the beginning of the action, then checked the "Override Action "Save As" box and it somehow works now, but not before stalling on an image (normally the last in the folder) and complaining that the image was being used in another program. The only other program opened was Bridge so I'm unsure why it had a problem. I closed both programs and ran the automation with nothing else opened and it worked ... ?? Confused, but not complaining (for now).

  • CS6 page settings using Property inspector will not save [subject edited by moderator]

I have a student who is working on building a webpage using a CSS template. They are trying to change their page settings (for example, the color of their hyperlinks) using the menu at the bottom of the page. However, these settings will not save. If anyone can give me an idea of how to move forward, I would appreciate it. Thank you

Which version and build # of DW CS6?
Do you have all the latest updates?
    Also which operating system?
Has DW always behaved this way or is this something new?

  • Adobe Reader will not save or show the Save dialog

Hello, we use adobe reader a lot where I work, mostly with filling out pre-made "Form" type PDF's and saving them in customer folders on the server, as of last friday my adobe reader will not allow me to save pdf's, I have attempted to edit and save, edit and save-as, I tried simply saving as without making any edits. I also tried to open a PDF online (specifically http://www.ncu.edu.tw/~ncu25352/Uploads/201312311030531151830864.pdf ), tested that PDF on another PC and it would allow me to save it.
I uninstalled Adobe reader 11 and reinstalled from the website ( get.adobe.com/reader ), I then uninstalled anything on the pc that relates to PDF's that I could find (which was just reader and a dictionary add-in for reader 9) and attempted to reinstall without any change in the problem.
To recap, PDF's will not save, and when I click save-as no save dialog pops up, I cannot save via the IE add-in either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated by both my boss and myself!

You mention IE, so I assume that you are on Windows.
How are you trying to save that PDF, using the IE menu bar File Save as, or the floating toolbar in the Adobe Reader plugin?

  • Outlook 2013 will not save Compact Navigation Option setting

We have started upgrading some of the machines in our office from Office 2010 to 2013, (win7 and win 8 machines). I have found that Outlook will not save the selection of "compact navigation" in the "Folder Pane/Options" settings. I
have tried a complete uninstall/reinstall of office 2013, resetting cleanviews, profile, etc. I cannot get it to save this setting. It always goes back to the extra large "Mail, Calendar, People, tasks" navigation. Any ideas? This is happening on
muiltiple machines that we have upgraded from Office 2010.

Copying answer from similarly asked question:
FOR THE FIRST STRING (To keep a compact navigation pane):
Press the START button and type in "regedit"
On the left side drill down to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Options]
Under EDIT in the toolbar select NEW>KEY and name it WunderBar. Make sure you have the new key selected.
Under EDIT in the toolbar select NEW>DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it ABCompact. Make sure you select it.
Under EDIT in the tool bar select MODIFY and change the value to 00000001
FOR THE SECOND STRING (To modify the order of the navigation items):
    With regedit still open.
On the left side drill down to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Preferences]
Under EDIT in the toolbar select NEW>String Value and name it ModuleOrderAB. Make sure you select it.
Under EDIT in the tool bar select MODIFY and change the value to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Adjusting the order of the numbers will adjust the order they appear in. For instance in my case I wanted NOTES to show up fourth so my string is 1,2,3,5,4,6,7,8,9.

  • After upgrade to Lion, iPhoto will not save events nor save albums after created.

After upgrade to Lion, iPhoto will not save events nor save albums after created. Once iPhoto is shut down and re-launched, albums and events created no longer exist. How can this be fixed?
Also, when attempting to create cards, iPhoto freezes.
    Message was edited by: askgabe

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
