Photoshop Window on Mac Keeps Moving Off Screen

I've recently purchased a second monitor (27" Apple Display) for my Macbook Air. Everything is great, except photoshop doesn't want to stay put. When I move it into the screen, it immediately jumps back out of view. I've had some luck with it staying put if I make the window much smaller, but that defeats the purpose of having a giant display. I've tried clearing all settings while launching photoshop, it has had no effect.
I'm using a 2013 Macbook Air 2013 running Yosemite 10.10.2. It's connected to the latest model Apple 27" display via thunderbolt. Photoshop is the only app playing up.
I took a quick video so you can see what's going on.

To the moderator who deleted this post, here it is my submission again with the only redactions I think could be even remotely expected:
No, I am not "having a rough day", it's only 3:00AM here in California, I had a great day yesterday, I've had plenty of sleep so far tonight, and I'm going back to bed in few minutes. I'm just fine.
As always in the forums, if you don't like an answer, you're always entitled to your money back: $0.00.
All I had typed was "Ouch!" until you requested an elaboration.  It was that passive aggressive, insolent retort of yours that slightly annoyed me, nothing else.
I couldn't care less about how you use your computers and I didn't ask you about it.  You could have saved yourself all the verbiage in your last post in its entirety.  Who cares?  It brings nothing to the discussion and I highly doubt it aides other forum users.
You were the one requesting input not I, and you are the one with the computer issue, not I.
I now see that you are not brand new to the forums, Mr. Zero Points, so the following clarification and reminder in the form of boilerplate text should not even be necessary.

  • Om Mac 10.8 firefox window keeps moving off screen without me touching anything so I cant accomplish anything.

I cant use firefox. It slides by itself of screen and I need to go to dock to bring it back. It happens every few minutes and sometimes even more frequently. While is off screen I am able to enter information into it. So it satays open but invisible

Are you accidentally hitting the F11 key? That will cause any open window to slide off the screen.

First check to see your plan is active: Adobe ID
Try launching Photoshop choosing Trial instead of a purchase.
    Mac             /Applications/Photoshop CC/Photoshop CC.app
    Windows  C:\Program files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Photoshop CC.exe
Then once inside, go to Help > Sign in...  There, use the email address and password for your account and it should activate.
If that does not work, could you tell me what version of PS you have and what os version you are using?

The photoshop window is larger than my computer screen. How do I resize it so I can see the bottom controls? I tried dragging the corner, but it only moves vertically. I need the horizontal to move so I can see the bottom of the window.

Which version of photoshop and operating system are you using?
On a mac, did you try clicking on the Green Maximize button?
On a windows os did you try the Maximize button at the top right of the photoshop window?

There are two possibilities: either the router has been hacked to direct DNS queries to a malicious server, or it's using the right DNS servers, but those servers have been hacked. The first possibility is more likely.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions to reset the router to the default state. Usually that involves inserting the end of a straightened paper clip or a similar tool into a pinhole somewhere in the back of the device, and pressing a switch inside for about 15 seconds. The pinhole may be marked "RESET."
Repeat the initial setup process. Make sure the router does not allow remote setup from the Internet (WAN port), if it has that feature—most do. The DNS servers should be set automatically by your ISP. If you still have trouble with those servers selected, contact your ISP.
Another option, if your ISP fails to secure its servers promptly, is to use an alternative DNS service such as Google DNS or OpenDNS. I don't recommend either one. Don't believe the marketing hype about OpenDNS, in particular. There are no advantages to using it if your ISP is delivering the service you pay for.
If you have a wireless network, it must be secured with WPA 2 encryption. The passwords for the network and the router must each be a string of at least 10 random upper- and lower-case letters and digits, and they should be different. Any password that you can remember is weak.

Goto trackpad in sys pref and try reducing your tracking speed or goto universal access in sys pref and check the mouse and trackpad settings...try altering them to solve your problem

  • Layers Moving Off Screen When I click Around

Hi everyone, I am experiencing an annoying issue with Photoshop CS5 12.0.4. In my normal and quick workflow I notice that at random times when I am in and out of the layers and onto the canvas, sometimes layers go sailing off screen eventhough I am not moving them. Its as if PS is tracking my movements off screen and just blasting the layers all around. I saw the problems last week sometime on the forum, but I can't seem to find the thread again. Anyone have any clue what the heck could be causing this?
Running windows 7 x64, PS x64, I also have a Logoitech G9X high res mouse.

Do you mean that the entire image pans out of sight, or further than you wanted it to?    It sounds like the flick pan feature that came in with CS4.  You hold down the space bar to pan, flick the screen with the left mouse button, and it keeps on going.  Is that what you mean? If yes, then left click the screen to stop the pan.
Hmmm...  Reading your post again, I am getting the impression that you know your way round the app, and it is nothing so simple.

  • Can't move window whose top bar is off screen

I have a window whose top bar is off the screen. The window is a preferences window. Because part of the window is off the screen, I can't properly set the preferences. The program is Quicksilver, but this is a general problem in Mac OSX and I would like a solution for the general problem.
The window got offscreen when I detached an external monitor from my laptop. The window moved from the external screen to my computer's screen, but it moved above the screen. I can see the window in expose, and the bottom of the window normally.
Because the top of the window is above the screen, I am not able to move it. There is no option to maximize the window in the menu bar's "window" setting -- only minimize and close. If I close the window and reopen it, it reopens in the same place.
The general solution on the internet is to use an applescript to move the first window of the first process, but possibly because this window is a preferences window, the applescript does not work.
Is there a way, any way, in mac os x to move any window that is not to drag the top bar? I'm getting really frustrated at this stuck window.

One thing that works sometimes is to change the resolution on your monitor. That might put the window where you can reposition it, then you can put the resolution back where you like it.

  • Can't access top of photoshop window under mac menu bar

The top of my Photoshop window has slipped under the Mac menu bar-and I can't acces it. I've tried re launching PS, it opens in the same position. I've tried the tapping the F key- does not solve it. I've tried different work spaces- still the same. I've tried using mission control- it lets me see the top bar in the photoshop window, then when I choose it, it's still the same.
Is there any way to hide the mac menu bar when I have PS open so I could grab the title bar and bring it down?
    HELP- Thanks

I tried everything suggested here and on other sites and nothing* would work for me. I luckily have other monitors plugged into my laptop and when I unplugged one, the top of the Photoshop title bar showed up on another monitor.
    * I tried changing my resolution to a larger resolution and when that didn't reveal it, I changed the orientation of my one of my attached monitor. I could see the top of the title bar then on another monitor, but since I couldn't control my mouse easily and get it back to my main monitor/laptop where the system preferences box was, it timed out on me and I wasn't able to grab the title bar of Photoshop. I only mentioned all that because if someone is not working on multiple screens and the resolution trick doesn't work for them, maybe try changing the orientation...but that was only an option for my attached monitor. So maybe none of this is a helpful tip. Sorry!

  • Windows XP Mode in Win7 off-screen?

When I open Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 Enterprise the icon appears on the task bar but it can not be made to open on-screen, nor can it be closed by using the close-window selection on the drop-down screen.
Hitting alt/tab shows it with the other running programs, but clicking on it only returns to the desktop.
Clicking on the task-bar icon causes a rapid transparent box to move to the lower right side of the screen very rapidly, clicking again makes the same transparent box to move rapidly to the task-bar icon.
Could it be that the window somehow moved off the screen? If so, how to get it back. I've tried deleting the .vsv file, but that does not cause any apparent change.
Anyone heard of this before - and hopefully a fix?
    Aboonah

    No help there...and this is a single-monitor set-up.
Another thing I experienced since posting the original question: I tried to simply open the application I need to run - by clicking on it in the Virtual XP Applications folder.
The application opened and ran. I could read and write data, but could not print. When I attempted to print, the application crashed each time.
I also cannot close the XP virtual machine icon on the task-bar. I have to use task-manager to close the process.

  • Mac keeps turning off during OS installation: from dvd and usb both

I'm trying to install a new ssd, and mac keeps shutting down while installing 10.6 from retail official dvd.
so I made a bootable OS in my usb in disc utility (the whole "source" and "destination" tech), but mac still shuts down while installing OS from it.
what is likely to be wrong?
Corrupt boot files made from corrupt dvd?
    macbook 2007, 10.6 snow leopard

Format the external drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - Partition Map Scheme: GUID
If the drive is not formatted as GUID, it's not bootable.

  • Every time I turn my computer on it starts freaking out. The mouse starts moving on its own along with windows coming up and moving off the screen. Also the windows get bigger on their own and the screen slides around like some one else is doing it.

I have checked for viruses, restarted it and nothing works. It doesn't do it all the time just most of the time now.

Try resetting your PRAM by restarting, then holding <CMD>+<OPTION>+p+r until you hear the start up chime twice, then release the keys and allow to boot up.
If that doesn't work try resetting the SMC:

If those two items don't help take your machine  to your nearest Apple store and see if they can assist.

  • Why does Photoshop CS5 Extended (Mac) keep randomly freezing?

I'm running Photoshop CS5 Extended for Mac. I've had it for over a year now and it has worked perfectly fine until now.
    Mac OS X
    Version 10.6.8
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
The issue started a few weeks ago. I can't think of anything in particular that could've spurred it. What happens is that (generally within a few brush strokes, like five to ten) the program freezes. It gives me the little grey spinning wheel telling me that it's thinking, and that never stops. I've left it for hours before, waiting to see if it would ever snap out of it, and nothing. I always have to force quit the application.
There's no particular tool that makes this happen, because it's happened on everything from brush strokes to changing contrast to switching tools.
It's not like I'm using giant files—some are large and have lots of layers, but others are small blank canvases. It isn't like I'm running too many programs, because sometimes it happens while Photoshop is running by itself (no other programs.) There doesn't seem to be anything in particular that triggers it.
I've installed all the recent updates that could possibly be related to it—no dice.
I even tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. I had hoped that if it were some sort of bug due to settings I had changed or something, that would get rid of it. It didn't, but I'm inclined to think I didn't manage to remove everything related to the program, because when it opened after the reinstall, it still had all the same brush settings it had before I had uninstalled it. (Not sure if that means anything.)
Since I make a portion of my living off of illustration and graphic design commissions, it's incredibly important that Photoshop is usable, and fast. I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Something must have changed a few weeks ago, perhaps it was an update?  Adding a new font or plug-in?
Incompatable update in driver?  RAM gone bad in GPU or OS?
