Photoshop won't boot up on Creative Suite 3 on my G4

Hi
The nearest topic I saw to this in the forum was "Photoshop hanging", but it didn't answer my question and your guys are technical, so I apologise for my basic knowledge.
I bought Creative Suite 3 less than a year ago, so I guess I am still guarenteed for technical support over the phone? I live in UK and didn't see a free phone no. for us.
So I'll bother u guys in the meantime if ok - My photoshop just doesn't boot up. It was working fine as was all my products on CS3, then suddenly doesn't work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
My mac is a G4 and I added extra memory when I first bought CS3.
Regards,
Colin

Allen,
Thanks for your effort, but this still doesn't help me. Like i said originally: " My photoshop just doesn't boot up. It was working fine as was all my products on CS3, then suddenly doesn't work." This means that I can't even get preferences/ performance etc.
Buko,
Sorry I did add memory: 1GB in addition to original 512mB. CS3 worked fine for some time then PS started playing up ie not booting up. Under applications, it gives this version: 10.0.1 (10.0.1x20071012 [20071012.r.1644 2007/10/12:09:30:00 cutoff; r branch]) which seems quite unusal?
These are the details of the memory:

I am unable to open my Photoshop program after installing the entire Creative Suite: Premium Production 6. All other programs work, but with Photoshop it says that it "Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file." Then I select "OK" and the next message comes up "Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked, you do not have the necessary permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock this file. I installed all of the programs on the same day from a CD. I need this fixed immediately.
I am not interested in switching to Creative Cloud, so don't even suggest it. I spoke to Mashmi (or something to that effect) on the "Support" Chat and there was absolutely no support. Useless actually.
    Thanks in advance.

You could download the installer file from Adobe and install from that instead but it's a big file (6+ GB).

  • Can't re-install Photoshop, all other programs from Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard (DVD) installed successfully.

My iMac crashed and once I recovered it I re-installed all my software including my Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard (DVD) but Photoshop simply won't install after 3 or 4 attempts. After the lengthy installation process I get a huge error message on Photoshop which I am pasting below. How can I finally install Photoshop? All my other programs are working. Help is much appreciated. Many thanks.

  • Photoshop won't boot up

I'm trying to open Photoshop CS2 but it keeps crashing on me, unlike Illustrator or Indesign, I ran Disk Warrior just to make sure it wasn't the HD but keep having the same issue, I also tried to reinstall it but no luck, please help!

    Hi, coyococo3!
You might try navigating to Applications/Photoshop CS2/Legal and look in the Legal folder for an Asian (Vietnamese) version of the legal pdf documents there. If you find one, trash it. There was a known Adobe issue where this file caused crashes with the CS/CS2 versions of Illustrator and PS. It supposedly was resolved with the release of CS2, but still affects some systems.

  • Can't install Illustrator from Creative Suite (serial number not recognized)

Years ago, I bought the first Creative Suite (upgrade). Illustrator was working fine on my old computer. Since then, I've upgraded Photoshop and Dreamweaver individually (I didn't upgrade Creative Suite).
Now I need to install Illustrator on my new computer, but the installation fails:
    (1) I tried to install Illustrator separately (from the Illustrator setup.exe file on the disks) and I input the only serial number I have (which is for Creative Suite) and get a "this isn't an Illustrator serial number".
    (2) I tried to install Creative Suite but it prompts me for the location of Photoshop ... an OLDER version of Photoshop. I've got Photoshop CS5, but the installation correctly says that isn't an earlier version.
I believe I purchased my first Photoshop in 1997-ish. Do I really have to start from the beginning and install EVERY VERSION of Photoshop that I ever bought/upgraded in order to install Illustrator from the CS upgrade disk?
I tried looking for an Adobe phone number, but no joy.

    > Which versions of which software do you have exactly?
    Have, or installed?
I have Photoshop LE, Photoshop 4.1 (I think it was -- the first version with layers), Photoshop 5.5, Photoshop 6, Creative Suite, Photoshop CS2, and Photoshop CS5.
After I purchased Creative Suite, I just wanted to upgrade the individual programs rather than the whole Creative Suite. However, I believe I purchased upgrades all along the way.
For Dreamweaver (though not the issue here), I started with the Macromedia programs, so the upgrade line started 'way back at Macromedia (and the installation of Adobe DW upgrades requires live tech support; unfortunately, as I can no longer find a phone number for Adobe, I guess I'd better hope nothing ever happens).
Anyway, does that help? You can see why I don't want to reinstall all those versions just to install Illustrator.
    (And thanks for your help.)

  • New Creative Suite Release Date

Have there been any hints by Adobe as to when they will
    release the next

    What Jeff said.

The only hint you'll ever get from Adobe is the official
    Press Release which
is usually 30 days or so before they ship the final product.
Previous history of update cycles is your best guide and
    updates have been
18-23 months apart this side of Y2K.
    Photoshop 7 shipped Feb 24, 2002
Creative Suite CS shipped Sep 29, 2003 (19 months)
    Creative Suite CS2 shipped April 4, 2005 (18 months)
Creative Suite CS2.3 shipped Sep 18, 2006 (interim
    update-added Acrobat 8 to
    CS2)
Creative Suite CS3 shipped March 27, 2007 (23 months since
    CS2 - first
Vista-tested release - after acquisition of Macromedia)
    Creative Suite CS4.......Oct/Nov 2008 (estimate - approx 18
    months since
    CS3)....??

  • How to license your Creative Suite 6 trial installation

If you have purchased a Creative Suite 6 Point product; i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc; or a Creative Suite and have the trial installed you can license that trial.  It is not necessary to remove the trial in order to license your product.  For additional details please see How to serialize a Creative Suite 6 trial - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/serialize-creative-suite-6-trial.html.

HMHurkmans I would recommend you contact the reseller who provided you with an expiring license if you wish to partcipate in a similar program for another year.
Alternately if you wish to purchase Creative Suite 6 you can do so at https://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_ creativesuite6.html?start=10.
You may also want to conisder subscribing to the Creative Cloud.  We do have a discounted membership plan for qualifying students.  You can find information regarding the Creative Cloud at https://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html?promoid=JQPEQ.

  • Adobe Creative Suite Premium All Re-install Except PhotoShop

I have been using Creative Suite Premium for over 4 years.  It was working fine until several days ago when Photoshop locked up.  After closing it, I have was not able to get Photoshop to run.  I have tried to uninstall and re-install the entire suite several times.  All of the programs in CS installed fine and I can open them and work in them, EXCEPT PhotoShop.  PhotoShop is the main program I use.  When I tried to install just PhotoShop, I got an error message that the serial number is invalid.  I re-checked and re-entered the serial number several times, but always got the same error message.  I don't understand whay happened in the first place and why the problem is only with PhotoShop.
I use PhotoShop on a daily basis with my job, so I need it to be up and running.  I am also on a limited income and budget and cannot afford to buy their expensive upgrades, nor should I have to since the program has been working fine all this time.
I tried the Tech suppport chat and after a lengthy wait and discussion, was told that Tech Support does support CS.  I know Adobe is trying to force me to spend hudnreds of dollars to upgrade, but if I am forced to buy new software, it won't be from Adobe.
Does anyone out there know of a solution to fix this?  Thanks.

Before uninstall/reinstalling any software always try to fix the preference file first. Reason is, if the file is corrupted, reinstalling the app will not fix it, as it assumes that you want to keep your prefered settings, hence preference file.
Most apps will recreate the file if it can not find it, but to be safe, moving the file to another location, will allow you to put it back if it does not recreate the file.

    Hello,
After a recent hardware meltdown I have recently reinstalled my CS5 Creative Suite onto a new machine (running windows 7).
For some reason the Adobe Application manager won't update.  I keep getting the same error message and getting redirected to redownload the Application manager.  I have done this several times and keep getting the same error.  I have also tried rebooting numerous times and also installing the updates manually from the Adobe website.  Neither have worked
