Photoshop won't load

I am running a new install of windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a quad core 2,4 GHz processor with 4 GB of memory. I have a Ge Force 88oo GTS graphics card with 320 MB of GDDR3 and a further 1800MB of shared graphics memory.
I have updated windows &, I have installed the most up to date graphics driver available direct from NVIDIA.
I have tried installing from creative cloud and also removed, rebooted, downloaded the standalone and re installed Photoshop package.
I tried to install Microsoft's Runtime file packages only to find I also have the most up to date version of both
The same persists each time.
I can't believe that Adobe are incapable of writing a program that works, but to be honest I have spent 3 days trying to get this to work.
By the way before anyone tries to blame my hardware, OS or anything else, I have researched this I have run CC cleaner, rebooted, tried SLC to repair damaged files and all this for the pleasure of actually paying for the software.
I had no idea that Adobe was an Irish company but they must be, as only an Irish company would make it so difficult for the customer to give them money and then blame the customer for the problem.
This is absolutely ridiculous
Steve

Hi Steve,
This error is related to Visual Studio C++ Redistributable.
Do you have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed? If Not do that first.
Even after that you have two options:
Remove & Reinstall by downloading a new copy of Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012Update 4Check System requirements section carefully it requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed to work.
Reinstall Visual Studio 2012 with Update 4

  • I had an automatic update and now photoshop won't load

I had an automatic update through yesterday and now photoshop won't load.  the organiser loads ok but not the editor.  Any ideas?

Try to uninstall the update, and/or do a system restore to the point in time when everything worked.

  • Tiff saved in photoshop won't load in indesign

I'm having trouble loading a Photoshop TIFF file into inDesign. Every time I try, inDesign sees only half the photo (see below for example). This behavior is consistent with any photo I try. View the TIFF in a file viewer, however, and the whole picture is present.
I'm using Photoshop and inDesign CS3, Windows 7/64, plenty of memory and storage.
Others trying to use TIFFs I generate see the same thing, regardless of which version of Photoshop or inDesign they use.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ed

Bob, is that a specific omission in ID CS3? As the OP said, it works fine in CS4, for example.
That said, Photoshop *does* issue a warning:

  • Changed Internal HD - Now Photoshop won't load: "Could not initialize.."

    Hi All,
I apologise for posting here.. I've been trawling the Adobe forums and none of the suggestions for this seem to work.
I recently used Carbon Copy Cloner to take a copy of my 80gig HD and transfer it to my new 320gig HD (internal) that I have upgraded within my MacBook.
So far everything, other than Photoshop, is working fine. Unfortunately, when I try to run Photoshop (CS2), I get the following error:
"Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available".
It seems that my transfer of data has somehow buggered up the scratch disk. Interestingly, imageready and illustrator both load and run okay but not photoshop.
I have followed the advice in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6804821
    That basically stated:
    1) Repair Permissions on your startup drive.
    2) Delete Photoshop's preferences. In the Preferences folder of your user account, delete the entire folder, "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings".
    3) Download and apply the 10.4.11 Combo updater. Repair permissions both before applying the update and after. Delete Photoshop's preferences before trying to launch it.
With the exception that I downloaded and applied the 10.5.5 combo updater....
However, while this solved the problem for the previous person, this has not rectified the issue for me.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

I uninstalled the CS2 suite to reinstall from scratch. Bad move. Looks like CS2 does not install in Leopard and is no longer supported by Adobe.
Epic Sigh. Keeping up with the releases of Adobe products is a never-ending race. (Insert the word expensive somewhere in that sentence).

  • Photoshop won't load / Lightroom only as trial

I just purchased the $9.99 /mo plan for Photoshop and Lightroom & installed both.  Photoshop goes to the splash screen, then loads for a split second and quits.  Lightroom wants to load as a trial version. No prompts or error codes.  Any suggestions?  I've tried trashing the preferences already.  I'm running windows 8.1 Thanks

    Hiya Jeff
Thanks for the quick reply. For the time being I'm trying to get Photoshop going, once I get that working I figured I'd try Lightroom.  So, here is the install log for my most recent attempt for Photoshop (only the errors):

So far I've reinstalled the software probably about a dozen times and I've deleted the folder "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014" AND the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\" I don't understand why its giving that error I had no problem deleting it?
I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled using the "hidden" administrator account on Windows 8 but to no avail.
If you have any suggestions please let know.
    Thanks

  • Photoshop won't load - Says "Preferences deleted"

Had Photoshop CS5 running on my MacBook Pro for a fair while now - just restarted, and the app won't initialise - error message says "Preferences file"  has been deleted (definitely not by me!!)  Running OSX 10.9.1.  How can I get it to work please?

  • Program won't load due to external drive failure

I thought I was doing a smart thing when my laptop began getting a little too full by setting up the installation of Photoshop to use a Seagate hard drive as my preferences and scratch disk, with my computer's drive as the second choice. Now the Seagate has failed and Photoshop won't load! I get error messages saying the preferences file is missing and the loading terminates.
How can I fix this? I have a new drive, 1.5 terabytes, which I would still like to use for that. It's drive F, the old one was drive E. So I cannot rename the F to E, unless there's something I don't yet understand.
I just hope I won't have to completely reinstall the program. Any advice?

What possessed me to also set the preferences file on the external drive? I didn't realize I did.
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate fast and knowledgeable help.
But I stumbled on a solution. Since posting in this forum, I tried loading the program again. I don't know why but I just happened to think of holding down the Ctrl key while it loaded.
    Sure enough, it worked!
I immediately changed the settings and have restarted the program several times without any problem.
All I can figure is that I must have read somewhere something about overriding settings by using the Ctrl key. I really didn't know this when I wrote my first post but anyway, it works.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Custom fonts won't load

    Hello!
One of my users got CS6 installed a while ago, along with some custom fonts our company uses (called Bliss fonts). I installed the fonts myself, going through the windows Fonts folder - Add fonts. But Photoshop won't load in the fonts. They are nowhere to be found in the fonts list, and when the user opens a picture that contains the font and he tries to edit it, it says that the fonts are not available and PS will do a font substitution.
I've tried reinstalling the fonts, renaming (adding .old) to some maps accociated with PS (it was about corrupted files, something I found around here) but that didn't solve it either. The fonts are readily available in other programs such as Word and PPT. Does anyone have any tips? We're running WinXP if that's any help.

Your fonts do not contain proper identification info/ redundant identification info that matches anotehr font and Adobe programs therefore ignore them/ hide them for safety. This needs to be rectified in the font files themselves using a font editing software. Happens a lot when some lazy font designer just slapped in the company logos into a standard font and didn't edit all that stuff...

  • I have Photoshop for the IPad and my file won't load, can anyone help?

I have the iOS app for adobe Photoshop and I stopped working on my project for a bit, went back to access it (I did save before hand) and it won't load, the loading animation is all that shows and nothing else. It's been doing this for 30 minutes or so. I've tried refreshing, shutting the app and turning it on, shutting off my iPad and turning it on again and nothing.

We don't deal with IOS applications in this forum at all, only with Photoshop proper for Mac and for Windows.
Are you on something like  Adobe Photoshop Touch for tablet?
Try finding the forum for whatever your application is on the forums/community directory:

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Photoshop Elements 10 Edit Screen won't load

Photoshop Elements 10  Edit Screen won't load.  It was working fine, then I responded to an Adobe Update. It stopped working. I re-installed Photoshop Elements 10 for MAC from the purchased Disc. The organizer works but not the editor. The organizer is not able to call the Editor either. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice. I cannot get the editor to load it's editing screen or any images.
    I'm really stuck.

Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 paths
    repair permissions and try again.
Note: In lion, that library is hidden. In the finder, click the Go menu and then hold down the Option key to make it appear.

  • Acrobat Pro won't load since I reinstalled Photoshop

Had to reinstall Photoshop CS5 today. Acrobat Pro 9 now won't load. Says Suite Product Activation Needed. It asked that I start another component of the suite. I had Photoshop open and it would not load. Any suggestions are welcome. See attched alert image.

I hope this gets through, since I am now not able to even log in to my adobe account (even though I've been an Adobe customer for over 20 years). My user ID and password stopped working at 4:00 today. Was on the phone with adobe for hours, and they are not able to even get me access to my account or products that I bought from them.
Yes Adobe CS5. Tried restarting. Thanks, but didn't work. Adobe said I need to do a complete reinstall of CS5 to get Acrobat to work. I asked "Then why do you give the option of reinstalling apps individually?" No answer. That's when we discovered that I could no longer even access my account or download my purchased products. They said they are "elevating the matter" and I will here from someone in 24-48 hours. So apparently "elevating" means "We are hanging up now. Talk to you in a few days." Try explaining that to my clients.

  • Why won't my photoshop Elements 10 load?

Why won't my photoshop elements 10 load?

    Hi Brian,
    Continuing this saga:
What does it mean to uninstall & reinstall PSE 10?
I did that, renaming SLStores not a fix, Disappointed (not shocked) at result:
Editor still hangs on loading, just as before. But real mystery is that it lauches directly into Organizer. No welcome screen. This was setting I had changed in attempted fix, trying to maybe get to Editor via Organizer. Obviously not what program is supposed to do out-of-box, nor what it does on my xp laptop.
Some file or files not deleted in uninstall were used at launch. It is not the setting or pref going straight to Org that is the problem. That was created as attempted solution.
But this shows the persistence of mystery file(s) that ARE probably the cause. What & where are they?
-- Is there a way to find the files used when launch attempted? Event viewer doesn't afaik.I know how to find "modified", but not same oc.
-- Application Data & Local Application Data have Adobe folders, some specific to Elements. I should have deleted these in uninstall, have since deleted obvious ones. I may delete everyting Adobe.
-- I would try install on my D drive but often programs wont work from there, and bad file on C might still get in the way. Any thoughts?
    Your persistence is welcome!
    Mike
