Photoshop wont let me resize brush using shortcut

Im running photoshop CS5 on windows 7, and I can not resize my brush or healing brush tool or clone stamp using my keyboard short cuts [ and ]. If i restart photoshop the problem goes away for 10-20 minutes but comes back.
Things i've tried;
updated photoshop
reset prefrences
rebooted photoshop and computer
rest all tool

There's an easier way. I'm Finnish, so the task bar has an "FI" icon (for the keyboard) to the left of the tray icons. By clicking that icon, I get a selection of available keyboard mappings, or at least US English and Finnish. Naturally enough, if I activate the US English keyboard, I can use Photoshop shortcuts. For instance, the two keys to the right of the "P" key adjust the brush size. Use of the keyboard icon in the taskbar has the benefit that my normal keyboard layout is restored when I exit Photoshop. I'm using Win7 Pro, 64-bit.

Hi there, would you be able to post a screencap of your workspace, including your layers panel? That may help us figure out what's going wrong.
You may also try resetting your preferences by following the methods outlined in the video below. That will generally fix any buggy tools.

Photoshop wont let me 'save as'

hi, have been using photoshop CS on windows seven, previously xp for years now with only a few problems/bugs here and there which were fixed if i reset the user preferences, but the other day while i was working on a picture when i went to 'save as' nothing happened, nothing popped up and photoshop didnt freeze, it just didnt do anything, also saving for web wont work, the save as button isnt greyed out, i can click it but no popup, no save . Have reinstalled, resent the preferences, checked my resolution, everything i can think of but nothing seems to fix the problem!!! please help!!

Lots of "save as" problems in CS6 because user is transfering plugins from a previous version into CS6. Do not do this.
Delete the plugins and do not point CS6 to old plugins.
If you have 3rd party plugins best to go to website and download current version in the the CS6 plugins folder.

Photoshop wont let me save files with Extensions...

Photoshop isn't letting me save my files with extensions any more. It's only saving files as copy's and I have to add the extensions manually. This happened around the time I updated to OSX maverics, and is driving me crazy as it is extremely time consuming. I'm using CS5 version. Please Help!!

Thankyou! That worked to fix the file extensions part of the problem. I had somehow changed it to "never "instead of "always".
I'm still having the error message problem that photoshop is forcing me to save the file as a copy though. See the attached photo for the error message I'm receiving.
Do you know how to fix this? So that I can save work to the original image?

Photoshop wont let me choose video animation?

It automatically selects frame animation as soon as I open up timeline.
I have Photoshop CS6 Extended.

Photoshop extended not required.
The documentation states:
Convert To Timeline Animation (Photoshop Extended)
Converts a frame animation to timeline animation using keyframes to animate layer
properties.
But it’s certainly fine with me if it’s available in Standard.

Photoshop CS4 wont let me use my 3D Axis

For the first month or so using CS4, I could use my 3D Layer tools and the Axis would always show. A few days ago, I started up my work PC just as every other day, and my photoshop had reverted to all of its origional workspace settings, and my 3D Axis has been missing ever since. Anyone recommend a solution? Simply going to View > Show > 3D Axis doesn't work...

I tried both suggestions. Photoshop wont let you drag the 3D Axis out of the canvas, and I still couldnt see it but I found the problem. Somehow when all my preferences got reset, my "Enable OpenGL Drawing" was unchecked...thus, not allowing me to see it.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I have been trying the word shajaat in Arabic but it wont let me and ive already tride going through the edit and preference and going through type and changing to middle eastern and then restarting photoshop but it still wont do that and im running a windows 8 please help !

Open your Creative Cloud Panel, click on the Gear icon on the upper right, choose Preferences. In some versions you must click on the "Apps" tab.
Change the App language in your CC Preferences to English (Arabic) then the Install button will appear next to Photoshop CC
After you click on Install, it will add this language pack.
When the Install is finished, open Photoshop, go to Preferences > Interface and change your UI language to English (Arabic)
Restart Photoshop for this to take effect.
The menus will be in English, but you should be able to input Arabic.

You are planning to do a number of things, so let me first make a suggestion about the overall approach. Instead of: "Before I make a clone of my hard drive I would like to fix this problem so I only have one account with everything in it but I do not know what to move ... or how to safely move it", I would make that clone immediately. And leave it alone until you have completed the reconfiguring and rearrangements you plan to do. This way, if you accidentally do something that needs to be undone, your clone is there with all the originals. By the way, this is the approach I always adopt, whenever I have to do anything drastic with an existing installation.
After all the rearranging etc. of the main drive you just make a new clone that erases the previous one.
The "Deano" account doesn't show up when I go to System Preferences:Accounts. So I assume I must have done something wrong.
This would suggest to me there is only one account, i.e. the principal, or Admin account. Why do you think there is a second account?

You can keep them where ever it is most convenient. As you know, you can create folders within folders, and there is nothing special about the Documents folder. Feel free to ignore it, if that's the way you want to work. You can direct your downloads, the default "save to" locations etc. to the appropriate places, as you work.
Can I create a new place for all my work files and just move them? I know I will have to update linked files within the various software packages but this is not a problem.

The problem with those two apps is that they are supposed to be in your Apple ID and you didn't set up the Mac properly/completely when you got it.
You might try deleteing them and using OS X Recovery to install them again.
