Photoshop workspace and setting reset after CC update

Hi,
I downloaded updates this morning via Adobe CC desktop app, now all of my workspace settings, preferences, extensions, brushes, actions, patterns etc have been reset to factory by the look of it.
I tried going to Photoshop > (my username) > Download Settings, it comes up with a progress bar saying 'Connecting to Creative Cloud' but then doesn't do anything. Anyone got any ideas???

Yes, it sounds like something related to the OS may have been damaged by the update. This is also a frequent type of issue we see on the forums. In virtually all such cases, it can attributed to a drive that already had damaged files and/or file table data. Replacing/updating as many items as get changed in an update (especially a 1.5 GB update) only makes the damage worse. Then the user "suddenly" has issues they weren't experiencing before.
First and foremost, if you don't have a complete, restorable backup of your drive, make one. You don't want things to get worse as you try and resolve the issue, or lose important data you have no backup for.
Boot to a separate drive (like the Recovery partition) and use Disk Utility to do a Repair Disk on the main drive. If it finds any errors, repeat until it reports no errors.
Download either the 10.10.3 Combo updater, or the full Yosemite installer (I'd go with the full installer). Reinstall OS X and test.

  • Does Personalization setting resets after Patch update

    Hello Everybody,
We have a concern. We want to enable personalization for Web dynpro Java applications in NWA and then disable personalization for iviews where it is not required. For example after setting allow personalization to true in NWA i will disable personalization for all ESS/MSS WD Java apps.
If i perform a patch update for the ESS BP will setting be removed or reset?
    Thanks & Regards
    Gaurang Dayal

    Hi Gaurang Dayal,
Please can you let me know how you are disabling personalization for specific WD java application after setting allow personalization to true in NWA.
This will help me in providing an answer for your query.
    Regards,

  • Trouble with 4G and other issues after latest update.

    To whom it may concern,
After the recent update I have been having the following problems:
I lose 4G in many places where I was receiving great 4G access before.
Battery life seems to have suffered a little, this may be due to 4G hunting.
New software applications were installed like the Caller ID app, and flipboard. I hate when software is installed without my authorization and then cannot be removed. What year do we live in Verizon?
I have heard on this and other forums that a factory reset does not resolve these issues but Verizon claims that it is the final resolution. We should not have to do a factory reset after an update. I understand that there are many variables to consider with all the apps out there but that is what testing is for. That is why we wait for updates from Verizon.
I will attempt a factory reset to resolve my issues. If this does not resolve the issues I will be contacting Verizon about a refund for the 4G access that I am now being denied.
    Thanks

        Hey AlphaDanger!
The year is 2013 and I read you loud and clear on wanting to make sure your software operates smoothly on your GS3. So, let's make that happen.
Right off the bat, thank you for the details as well as considering a hard reset. But, I'd like to make another recommendation if you have yet to do it. Instead, I'd suggest wiping the cache partition. To do this:
    1.) Power off your phone.
2.) Simultaneously hold the volume up key, home key, and power key.
3.) When it vibrates, release only the power key.
4.) When you see the Android recovery menu, wipe cache partition using the volume down toggle and power key to select.
5.) Then select "Reboot System Now".
Please let us know how this goes.

I'm about to publish my first iBook in the iBooks Bookstore/iTunes. Am having a problem finding the answer to this question:
Do ratings and reviews reset when you update your published iBook in the store?

Reviews after an update are "sectioned" separately.... they do not reset to zero

    Thanks a lot
Just want to add that I had to edit grub at start up and add "single" at the end of the kernel line.
The reason is that switching to runlevel 3 didn't work for me.

  • Elite Pro, CMSS-3D not working and other issues after driver update

DElite Pro, CMSS-3D not working and other issues after driver update <font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="4">Elite Pro CMSS-3D control (on I/O console)no longer controls CMSS-3D.
The only time it works is if the original drivers are installed from the installation CD.
ANY other drivers stop the control on the Elite Pro I/O console from having any effect on CMSS-3D.
Also at one time when I cotrolled volume, CMSS-3D(original drivers), EAX and Crystalizer from the Elite Pro I/O controls then I had on screen display of said control that was being moved(on I/O console).
Now regardless of what drivers are installed, there?are no longer any on screen indicators.
The indicators looked like the ones that show when using the remote controller.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Photoshop CS3 and Bridge crashing after update

Updated to 10.6.3. today. There's a dialogue box on boot-up that refers to Java, but I don't know what it says. Everything else seems okay except for Photoshop CS3 and Bridge, which both stay open for a few seconds and then crash.
Thread 9 crashed with X86 Thread State (32-bit):

Any ideas? I repaired permissions before installing the update thru software update. I later installed the combo update, but no luck.

  • Profiles being reset after windows updates?

    Hi All
I'm having issues with Outlook 2013 SP1 resetting our users profiles after Windows Updates have been applied. Their profiles are being reset whilst their previous profiles are being renamed to "BACKUP of <profile name>".
Office 2013 x86 has been deployed via VL Media onto Win7 x64 machines and we are distributing the ImportPRF registry key via GPO (set to Update) in order to customise the profiles on first run. (basic email account and attaching a default PST file)
It appears that after windows updates are applied outlook is triggering the first run process again and therefore resetting the users profiles back to the standard set in our PRF.
We used this method to configure Outlook 2010 and for the years of deploying Office 2010 we never had any issues. Can anyone suggest what might be going on here or what might have changed in Office 2013?
    Thanks

  • Error 199 and dead programs after multiple updates

Yesterday I applied the 2-2007 security-for-Panther, java for 10.3, DST for Panther, and Office 2004 updates to my dual-boot G4 while booted into 10.3.9. (The G4 can also boot into 9.2.2...a good thing since there are programs requiring OS9 that I could not afford to upgrade.) I repaired permissions before and after each update, both for X and 9. As advised in MacFixit, I disconnected all FireWire peripherals before applying the security update. I ran TechTool Pro 4 and nothing wrong was found. Everything worked..Adobe programs opened properly, Office programs opened properly, Opera got me online as usual, I could still boot into 9.2.2, and everything seemed fine.
I was a happy camper until this morning when I booted into 9.2.2 and tried to open PageMaker 6.5.2 and PageMaker 7.1, both of which had been working fine. I also tried to open Acrobat 5.1, which was working just fine yesterday. Today, Acrobat 5 will open, but it thinks I am not registered. PM 6.5.2 and 7.1 will not open, instead saying there is an Error 199, which I looked up and found to mean "mapReadErr" which translates into "Map inconsistent with operation." Since this sounded a lot like the finder-bitmap problem TTPro found after the last set of updates, I ran the entire suite of tests, and then ran the volume structures test. No problems were found.
Still, I cannot open PM 6.5.2 or 7.1, and I'm stroking out because virtually all of my dtp projects require those programs. Each time I try, I get the error-199 message. PM 6.5.2 does nothing; 7.1 shows my name/reg number and some strange caret characters at the top of the splash screen, but will not open. It is though the Adobe Registry info or something has gotten lost in the multi-upgrade process.
To help someone diagnose my problem: These three programs were originally installed while booted into 10.2 (I think) onto the Hard Drive....they are not inside the X "Applications Folder" or the "OS9 Applications Folder." This never caused a problem before the updates. I never ran either PageMaker in X's "Classic" because so many newsgroup members always said PM never worked properly in "Classic." Instead, I always booted into 9.2.2 to run the PMs. Acrobat 5 would work booted into either system, and it did not activate "Classic" if I used it while booted into X.
Here I was thinking that I'd done all the updates and escaped the problems so many others are reporting. Any advice will be appreciated. I have not tried to reinstall PM 6.5.2 or 7.1, but I have the installation disks should that become necessary. I do have a pre-update Retrospect backup that I can use for a Complete Restore if all else fails.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give. Perhaps if the PMs and Acrobat 5 had been installed while booted into 9.2.2 in the first place things would be okay today. When I first got the G4, I did not know about true-9, Classic, and X, as relates to UNIX, so what's why I just installed the PMs and Acrobat 5.1 straight onto the hard drive.
    Dual-boot G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   PB 1400, PM 7600, PLW NTR, LW 360

Before I answer your questions, there is one more thing I just remembered doing: For the first time ever, I rebuilt the Classic desktop from within the 10.3.9 System Preferences panel, and I can't remember if this was before or after the two PageMakers died.
    Now to answer your questions:
-I did download the Panther updates separately, and I repaired permissions before and after applying each. They were the ones for Panther, not Tiger.
-I don't think there really is an X version of PageMaker, only the fact that PM will open in X's Classic. PM newsgroupers always advise not doing it that way, but rather by booting first in to 9.2.2 in fact, they tend to recommend keeping/buying an older Mac that will boot into 9 for folks who don't want to switch to Adobe's InDesign, which replaced PM in their product lineup. Had never read that multiple PM versions were not good; newsgroupers had led me to believe otherwise, but if I end up reinstalling PM, it will be only 7, and 6.5.2 can be retired. Two or three years ago when this dual-boot came from MacConnection, 9.2.2 and 10.2 were installed already, in one partition, and I never messed with that.
-I have never "moved" any X applications outside of the X Application Folder, or renamed any OSX files...too paranoid and ignorant about UNIX to do that. I think I just installed the two PMs onto "Hard Drive" since that's what came up when the installer program asked me where to install. I think I was booted into OS10.2 at the time, but I could have been booted into 9.2.2.
Thanks in advance for continuing to help me tackle this...I really do need to get this straightened out as quickly as possible.
Did you download the updaters separately or did you
use Software Update? If the former are you sure you
downloaded the versions for Panther and not the
    versions for Tiger?
Are you also aware that Adobe specifically recommends
you not have more than one version of PageMaker
installed? This extends both to multiple versions
for OS X or OS 9 and OS X versions on the same
volume. Specifically they say only install one
version (either OS 9 or OS X) unless you put OS 9 on
a separate partition (not the same volume as OS X.)
I don't know if you have also moved OS X applications
outside of the Applications folder, but if you move
or rename any OS X files then they will not be
properly updated when software updates are installed.

  • Missing Renderer and CC crash after CUDA update

    Hey guys,
Lets see if we can get some help here.
    My current setup:
MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch, Early 2013
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 16gb 1600MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024MB
    Operation System: OS X 10.8.5
I am running a 27inch thunderbolt cinema monitor and a 40 inch LED TV client monitor.
Following a recent NVIDIA Cuda update, I open a project in PR or AE to find a dialog box that reads:
    Missing Renderer
"This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration(CUDA), which is either not available or not certified on this system. Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration(Open CL) will be used."
I click "OK" and go into PR or AE. Doesn't matter what project I go into, when I start working and there are several dosen clips in a timeline pulling form the source footage on a thunderbolt drive, the scrubing with extremely sluggish to the point where my workflow speed overwhelms the system and another dialog box pops up to say:
"Premiere had experieced a serious error and is forced to close....."
    Serious error indeed!!!
Never had this issue prior to the CUDA update.
Spent 2 hours in the apple store erasing the CUDA update and installing the previous one......to no avail.
Wiped the commputer completely and reinstalled everything on it(Creative Cloud, REDCine X, Red Giant Looks, etc).....also to no avail.
    Thoughts?

    Thanks for the response Jim.
Ideally yes, internal drives would be awesome to have, but without the MacPro out yet, this is the next best option.
This doens't solve my issue tho......why have I been able to work seemlessly with throughout the Creative Cloud with Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, as well as run REDCine X and Red Giant Looks prior to the update. After the update, something is amiss.
Now there is a Missing Renderer dialog box as I open Premiere. Something has to have affected PR.
