Photoshop Workspace Settings Lost Every Reboot

If Photoshop crashes, or if I restart my computer, my workspace settings are set back to default. Actions specifically, though other settings seem impacted intermittently. Add-ons (purchased actions) disappear. Any ideas would be appreciated.
On an aside, the removal of the 'oil paint' filter from CS6 to CC is really disappointing.
Thank you.

  • N800 os2008 combined: settings lost over reboot, U...

Loaded the combined os2008 onto my n800. Wifi worked (unlike the n800-specific version), lots of other things worked. But there are differences.
    - word choice and word prediction during typing used to be defaulted on; now off. Turn them on, they work fine and still use my saved information from before. Turn n800 off last night, turn it on today, and the settings have all been lost - I had to turn them on again.
    - concern - what other settings are getting lost over reboot?
    - auto capitalization used to UPSHIFT the keyboard to indicate that it was shifting the first letter of a word. not now. caused me problems with a password until i realized i had turned it on along word prediction.

I've got the same thing happening on a newly flashed N800. The settings seem to disappear at random. I haven't been able to discern a pattern yet, but, like you, seem to lose them always over a power cycle.
I've had my N800 three days and seeing your post makes me think I don't have a defective unit. When and how does suspicious new behavior turn into a bug?

  • Server stucks at Applying Computer Settings after every reboot

    Hello!
On one of our sites containing around 15 servers, whenever a terminal server is rebooted, it gets stuck on Applying Computer Settings for around 15 minutes. If it is un-joined from the domain then no issue. Moreover, once it is done with this delay, no time
delay is observed in user login. But after every reboot, 15 - 20 mins delay is always observed. Domain is the same at other sites and no issue is being observed else where.

    1. Open Registry Editor
    2. Navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP and create the following Multi-string value:
    DependOnService
    3.  Double click the new DependOnService entry

  • Gnome resets all panel settings on every reboot

    Hi guys,
Ive been running Arch with gnome for a few months now, linux in general for a couple years, and I've come across this issue today.
Upon starting up the computer, gnome panel is completely reset (my applets and icons are all gone, and in its place is the default setup of the panels on a fresh install).  So i thought this was odd, reconfigured it to how i like it, and on next restart, its back to default again.
If there is any log files or conf's that may be helpful to you smart folks, please let me know ill supply them.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for taking a stab,
I checked the permissions and i own everything in ~/.gconf
Today as i booted up, the panels didnt go their defaults, but actually disappeared!.  the bottom panel is gone, and the top panel is shrunk to just the gnome menu.  When i right click and go to the properties, it does say "these properties are locked down"... however my user name is the owner of conf files.
How is it possible that I'm getting random settings for the panels on every reboot?

  • When dual-booting with Windows 7, Mac OSX time settings reset every reboot.

I have recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro via BootCamp (Running Mavericks BTW). Everything runs grean and have not experienced any problems on the Windows side, but I have a problem with Mac OSX now. When I am using Windows 7, and I reboot into Mac OSX, I find that my time settings are wrong. It seems like my time zone has changed, because the date is correct, as well as the minutes, but the hour is always wrong. When I go to Date & Time in System Preferences, and my time zone is correct, but I still have to chage the hour in the time. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to stop it would be greatly appreciated.

If you dual boot your Windows PC with OS X or Linux, you may have experienced a problem in which your clocks reset themselves incorrectly every time you boot into Windows. Here's a simple registry edit to fix that.
Essentially, the incorrect clock setting happens because OS X and Linux use GMT time while Windows tries to synchronize with your local time zone, getting confused when you reboot between the two. Apple's own Boot Camp drivers for Windows are supposed to fix this problem, though some users have noticed that it still happens even with the drivers installed, and some Linux users are left out in the cold. Furthermore, if you have a Hackintosh, you can't install the Boot Camp drivers, so you'll need to find another way around the problem.
To fix it, just hit Start and type regedit.exe in the search box. Hit Enter and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation. Right click anywhere in the right pane and hit New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it RealTimeIsUniversal, then double click on it and give it a value of 1.
Lastly, reboot into OS X, then reboot back into Windows. You should now notice that your clock actually displays the correct time.

  • ITunes settings lost after reboot

I have a problem where after a reboot the settings of iTunes are back to default. For example:
    it loses the account for the Store (I have to re-enter email address and password);
it loses the wifi sync settings for my devices
it shows the iTunes tutorials screen, as if I'm starting iTunes for the first time
    settings under preferences are lost
    Other things are not lost:
    the library is still there;
iTunes remembers the devices (when connecting it is handled as a known device) and knows what playlists/apps/.. to sync with it.
Since I'm not rebooting my Windows 7 PC a lot, the problem is not occuring a lot, it doesn't keep me from using iTunes, it is just annoying. Now after rebooting I decided it's enough and I would post the issue (since I can't seem to find a comparable issue).
Also worthwile noticing is that the problem is already there for some time, though I can't exactly pinpoint anymore when it started. Possible when iTunes 9 or 10 were realeased.
    Now I'm using:
Windows 7 64-bit (completly up to date)
    iTunes 10.5.2.11
    Thanks for any help!

  • OS X losses many settings after every reboot

I have a macbook pro running 10.4.11 recently I have noticed that when I reboot many setting which were previously remembered are reset. Examples include the default applications (I use the program default apps), Endnote and iphoto think they have never been opened before and have lost all their recently opened files etc. Does anybody know where these settings are stored or why I'm losing them?
    Thanks

Hi scobbie, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Endnote and iphoto think they have never been opened before and have lost all their recently opened files etc...
That part is really confusing, how could they possibly lose what they never had???
    Let's start with Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667
After installing, Reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
At least if it doesn't fix it, it'll eliminate a few questions.
    Report outcome please.

  • Xfce4 Settings lost on reboot

Settings that I make for the the Panel such as Size/Position and launchers are not saved after a reboot, also settings made for Xterm are not saved.
I'm asuming these settings are simply saved in some file in my home directory?
So I'm not sure what could be going on here?

have you tried saving the session when you shutdown
you can try creating ~/.Xdefaults for xterm, like this for example.....
    ! xterm ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    xterm*geometry:           82x20
    xterm*faceName:           terminusbold:pixelsize=14
    !xterm*font:             -*-dina-medium-r-*-*-16-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

    xterm*scrollTtyOutput:    false

  • [Solved] Catalyst Control Center settings lost after reboot

    Hi
After having a working desktop I decided not to use xinerama because it wouldn't work with the composite extension. So i decided to start from scratch. After following the wiki on making a dual-head setup in my xorg.conf file it kind of worked (cloned display 1280x1024). I changed settings in ccc and all was perfect (Big desktop 3200x1080). But then after restarting all ccc configuration was lost.
    xorg.conf:

I just realized that I wont need to be able to drag windows between screens. heh
I got it mostly right now. It's just that my second screen is black. You can move the mouse there but thats it. I will keep on working.
    My .xinitrc
    cat .xinitrc
    #!/bin/sh
    # ~/.xinitrc
    # Executed by startx (run your window manager from here)
    if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ]; then
    for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/*; do
    [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
    done
    unset f
    fi
    setxkbmap -layout se
    exec awesome
    The xorg.conf.d should be untouched
    sudo ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
    10-evdev.conf 50-joystick.conf 50-vmmouse.conf
    10-quirks.conf 50-synaptics.conf
The main issue and reason I started over was that Composite wouldn't work when xinerama was enabled.

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 - Linux Guest VLAN Settings lost after reboot

    Hi Guys,
last night a have seen a strange behavior with a Sophos UTM 9.204020 Linux Guest VM. (This VM is based on SUSE SLES v11? i think)
So i have Setup this in my home lab and experienced the same problem.
    ----Setup-----
    2 External VM Switches
Management OS is on VLAN 4093 with IP 192.168.20.1
The guest network adapter is in Trunk Mode, VLAN Tag (4093) is set in the guest OS with IP 192.168.20.100
Everything works until you kick off a reboot from the guest or hyper-v console, after the reboot you loose the connectivity on the network adapter with the vlan trunk.
If you shutdown the guest and start it everthing works again - this happens only on reboot!!
I have tried diffrent things (static mac, enable disable hardware features (vmq/offloading etc) on the vm network adapter but always the same error.
After some search on the net i have found this article: Link
This guy has the same problem with another linux vm (based on debian) his workaround was to trigger a powershell script with the eventlog after reboot of the vm, this works for me too but this must be bug?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    André

    Hi Andre,
I would suggest you to install the supported Linux guest OS on hyper-v , please refer to following link:

  • Settings lost after reboot (1841)

After learning the basics of this router over the past few days I can't get the actual setup/settings to remain saved after the router has been shut down for a day or two (still learning and experimenting).
Having set it up the way I want it, both through console and SDM I either save the config through SDM or "wr me" through the console and the settings are saved without any issues.
However, whenever I've turned it off and then on again I get the "Would you like to enter initial configration dialog? [yes/no]". I've always chosen "no". I get the message that the router has undergone a cold start and my interfaces are set in a administratively down state.
Doing a "show running-setup" reveals all of my settings have been reset.
    What am I doing wrong?

  • SB X-Fi Notebook reset settings at every reboot

    Hi,
Does anyone have an answer to this? Some magic button somewhere?
    M

Ok, I'm going by the desktop Fatalty version, but the screeshots look similar so maybe it will help anyway...
If you start from the main screen under entertainment mode, click here:
    [img"]http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/2/22/775483/Creative/Main.JPG" alt="">
That will take you to speaker set up. When you get there, click on the drop-down box and select 5. or 7. depending on the speaker setup you have:
    <img height="248" src="http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/2/22/775483/Creative/Speakers.JPG" alt="" width="544" style="width: 544px; height: 248px">
(If you also check the "Synchronize with Control Panel" box, then whatever you have selected in THIS screen will also change your PCs speaker settings in your PCs control panel and vice versa. This may make life easier for you.)
Then click the "Main Display" button to the lower left of the display and click the X-Fi CMSS-3D button shown here...
    <img height="247" src="http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/2/22/775483/Creative/3D.JPG" alt="" width="544" style="width: 544px; height: 247px">
You should see 5 speakers on the speaker display on the right:
    <img height="248" src="http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/2/22/775483/Creative/Surround.JPG" alt="" width="544" style="width: 544px; height: 248px">
Even if there is something wrong with your setup, it should still show 5 speakers as the audio card doesn't detect your set up. Meaning that even if it can't play 5. speakers of surround sound, it will still DISPLAY 5. speakers. This is why I think your speaker settings are?set up wrong.
    I hope this helps!

  • "Open With" settings lost on reboot

All file type associations are reset to their defaults when the machine is shut down. Where are the configuration files stored?

I ended up following the link at the end of that tip to find other solutions (I wasn't content with running a script when logging in), which, interestingly enough, linked back to the Apple support forums.
Anyway, I came across this post which works perfectly and doesn't require a script:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9468630#9468630
At the end of that thread, there are a few people who said that they no longer have this problem in Snow Leopard... Maybe I'm experiencing an edge case?
In any case, thanks for your help!

I have Lightroom 5 on my iMac with OS X 10.9.5. I have lost all my (10,500 pics) "developed" settings. Every picture went back to its original setting. How can I restore? Please help.  Thanks,  GY

Thank you for your questions/advice. The answer for your 1st question is yes, and "may be" to your 2nd question.  Fortunately, I had exported the recently developed photos into my external head drive. After reverting back to the original catalog, I have re-imported those developed photos. Now everything is restored. I need to learn more about the subtleties in using the Lightroom.
    Thanks again,
