Photoshop would not append extensions to lower case!

When I set up preferences --> File Handling: Append File Extension - Always and check "Use Lower Case" Photoshop CS5 would not save lower case even if I type the lower case extension in the Save dialog box. I have been with Adobe on the phone for hours changing settings and reinstalled Photoshop 3 time to no avail. Photoshop would not save files .jpg, but .JPG. Please, help this is very frustrating - work large volumes of images for the web and i need lower case extension!!! Does anyone else have this issue?
I have the student edition CS5 Master Collection on a Mac 10.6.7. Before I purchased the CS5 copy, Adobe professionals assured me that it is just like the regular without any differences in the code. Is that true?
Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.
Well, it is correct in my case. I don't have the option to Save a Copy As, just Save As and that is the shortcut that they changed from Opt + Command + S to Shift + Command + S. (See the screenshot below).
As a further investigation I checked that the CS4 Photoshop on my mackbook pro has both of these as shortcuts for the same command - Save As. I just made a test and changed the shortcut back and it won't append extensions again, so it is deffinitely that shortcut that is not working! And one more test - with Photoshop set up with the original shortcut - Opt + Command + S, when I select Save As from the menu, it saves with small extension .jpg - in other word, it appends the extension!
At this point the issue has been solved, but the mystery persists. I am curious whether this is a common issue in the mac community. After all, it is a brand new mac pro and a brand new CS5... As I had mentioned I have not installed any other programs, except for Microsoft office - all my software is legitimate and unaltered...
Thanks again.

  • Magsafe flashing or dim green - not charging etc. ----lower case plastic?

OK, here's a long story as short as I can make it. It will probably be confusing, as I don't have time to figure out the best organization of this info. I'm at work.
    ---SHORT VERSION---
What is the material attached to the lower case that the internals of the laptop are attached to made of? Does it serve a purpose other than holding down and stabilizing internals?
    ---REASON I'M ASKING---
I was replacing my IO/DC in board, as that is what was recommended by the Genius bar (no power with my old battery in, powered with no battery). I bought 2 other used batteries that didn't work with it either, both with supposedly over 90% health (but came shipped without much or no charge).
Anyway, last night I decided since the batteries didn't work, I would tackle the IO board. When taking it apart, I missed one of the instructions mentioning a 4mm hex head on the IO board, and broke off the bit that it screwed into of the lower case.
My question is...what is the material that the internals of the computer screw into? Is it plastic, or some sort of weak metallic material? I guess I'm asking if I could have made my problem even bigger by breaking the bit where it screws into, or if it is for "attachment" purposes only. I superglued it back on, and it stayed when I reattached the board. However, before I could get a strong green light powering up with no battery. Now it's very dim. However it will actually stay powered with a battery attached...but not charge. Sometimes it flashes, and sometimes it's dim green.
Finally (maybe), this is not a new IO board. I had to reinstall my old one, due to the fact that I'm an idiot and bought the wrong part (got an A1260 board instead of an A1211 board.) I just am worried since my symptoms have changed, that I may have created yet another problem. Now I'm waiting on another IO board, this time for A1211.
Just thought I'd see mainly if anyone knows what the material is made of.
    Thanks!

    Nevermind. Pretty sure it's plastic.
Turns out there was a loose connection. I'd double checked everything last night, but must have missed it as I was tired and hurrying. After it didn't worked I opened it back up and found a part that was loose, snapped it in, and it wasn't better.
Today I opened it up, and the other side of the same connector was loose. OOPS.
It now powers up like it did previously. It even started charging the battery for a few minutes, but then it quit. Still I'm relieved it's at least back to "normal" and hopefully when the RIGHT part comes, it'll work.

  • How can I change the email addresses stored in IT105 to save in lower case?

    Hi,
Is anyone aware of a way to change the settings in IT105 for the storing of email addresses e.g. subtype 0010 and 0005. When they are saved they show in capitals, however we would like them saved in lower case?
    Thanks
    Hannah

    Hi Hannah,
The problem occurs because the field USRID - Communication ID/Number uses domain CHAR30. Within CHAR30 under Output Characteristics the check box Lower Case is not checked. This means that it will store data entered in capitals.
Now I would not advise changing this or copying it to create your own, as there is a lot of background functionality that triggers from this field.
    Regards,
    Priya.

  • Lower case in variable substitution

    Hi experts,
in my scenario I have a receiver CC that put an xml file in a target server.
The requirement is to dynamically determine target directory based on a field on mapping header.
I have used variabile substitution to retrieve the value of the field, and with %% i have put this value on field target directory.
The problem is: value from mapping is in capital letter, but the name of the target directory in which I have to put the file is in lower case letters, and target server is case sensitive.
Obviously I cannot change value in mapping, but I need to put variable in variable substituion in lower letters.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks

    no
also in case you want to put small case in variable substitution why cant you use dynamic configuration and set the values to lower case?

  • Hibernate for lower case data(case sensitive) in oracle 10G

    Hi,
I generated my data (oracle 10G release 2) using lowercase data types and table names. This requires queries in the strict form of -
    Select "Column_Name" from "Table_name";
But Hibernate makes the queries as -
    Select Column_Name from Table_Name;
driver I am using is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Jar is ojdbc14
    and dialect is org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle9Dialect
    The problem is:
table or view does not exist.
as it(lower case data) does not recognize the hibernate query format.
Can anyone suggest the proper driver and Jar to overcome the problem.
    Regards,
    Ankit

    Ankit,
Just bite the bullet and don't use case-sensitive identifiers :-)
I don't use "hibernate", but maybe you can add the double-quotes -- " -- in the XML file?
I don't think there's a JDBC driver that adds the double-quotes for you. So I think your only option (if you insist on using case-sensistive identifiers) is to explore possibilities through "hibernate" itself.
I also don't think there's any database setting that allows Oracle to accept case-sensitive identifiers.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Internal Order match-code fail becuase Upper-Lower case

    Hi
I'need to search Internal Order using a piece of teh Order description.
Unfortunately the description COAS-KTEXT is case sensitive, and the Order is not found if Upper/lower case rules are not respected. I Have create a new Z match-code, bust this has the same problem.
Any Idea to solcve thsi issue ???
    Thanks for your help.
    Claudio

    Hello
pls check OSS note 75233, is decribed the solucion you are looking for.
    Solution
Check whether an F4 search for short text is required.
You must then either allow for the fact that the selection criteria "short text" is case-sensitive, or you can change all the short text to uppercase. This change is then effective during all displays and entries of the short text for the order and cannot be reversed. Any information which is provided in lowercase letters is then lost.
You should also consider creating an index for the field AUFK-KTEXT.
If you want to change to uppercase letters, proceed as follows:
    1. Modify the table AUFK. The field KTEXT requires another data element with a domain in which the flag "lowercase letters" is not marked. The most effective solution is to copy the data element and the domains and in addition to the descriptions, change only flag "lowercase letters"
This change means that for overhead cost orders (transactions KO01, KO02) only short text in uppercase letters can be recorded.
    2. To change the already existing database entries to uppercase letters run report RDOTXT2U which is contained in the standard program and the current version of which is shown below. Please read the documentation for this report.

  • Problem with my fonts  "caps" vs lower case

photoshop_cs5   and    phjotoshop cs6            My fonts are all coming up in caps.  My caps lock is not on.  The lower case letters are also coming up in caps.   Cannot get it to work.  What do I need to do?

    I agree with Conroy.
Depending on your version of Ps, your Character Palette might look slightly different, but the All Caps control will be very similar to this:
This happens to me quite often, because when I edit many DVD Menus, they are set to All Caps, and the setting sticks, when I Open up a "regular" Image.

  • Photoshop cs5 is not appending file extensions

in previous versions, photoshop appended to the file extension in the fiel save/save as dialog box.  it no longer does this and when you save a file it does not append the file extension to the file name, resulting in unknown fiel type.

The operating system has no problems with the filenames ... it is Photoshop that is not handling the names correctly.
Just tried this out on my Windows 7 64 bit system, and I get the same results using Photoshop.
When I save a file in Photoshop CS5 64 bit with the name 047. Crayon - Abstract the file is saved as 047. Crayon - Abstract without a file extension, no matter what document type I select in the drop-down.
In Word I get the expected result:
When I save a file in Word with the name 047. Crayon - Abstract the extension is automatically added (047. Crayon - Abstract.docx)

  • Photoshop CS does not append the extension to the filename

    Hi there.
My Photoshop CS does not append the extension to the filename, when I save with Save as..., so it save all the files as .psd.
And when I try to open these files, it says that it cannot, because the file is "invalid" or someting.
I had the same problem with Photoshop Elements 5.0
I've that problem only on that computer. Not others.
    What I can do?
    Here's a stamp: http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/7022/stamp.png
(sorry for my really bad english)

    Well, into PhotoshopCS/Plug-in/File Formats there are those files: Cineon.8bi; Gif.8bi; Png.8bi; WBMP.8bi
I've tried to copy all Photoshop files from another computer, where Photoshop works fine, and I've replaced with them the files on that computer, but it doesn't work yet...
I'm thinking that's a problem of that Pc, but what?
Thanks for all your helping, by the way.

  • Why upper or lower case choices for image file extensions?

Thanks ahead of time for any help.
I'm wondering why you would want the file extension in lower or upper case.   Is there a reason to choose one or the other in various situations?  This choice is an option in the import dialog window box under File Renaming> Extensions with choices of Leave as-is, Lowercase & Uppercase.

Really..."to provide more control for specific workflows"???  I've gotta say... if I'm wrong about UNIX systems and case-sensitive file extensions... it truly would seem senseless that there would be a setting for controlling the case of file extensions.  So far as I know, almost every major application omits such a feature.  For what type of workflow would you ever need to specify the file extension case, if not for a file system that uses case-sensitive file extensions?  I'm just curious, myself, actually...  Is there something I'm missing?
What about writing to legacy network storage where extensions are not accepted unless in a specific case.  I believe Netware used to enforce upper-case extensions at some point.  If you had a collection of legacy data or datastore and had some service or scripts that operating on them, and could not be easily changed, you might really want to control exactly how those filenames are created.
There are any number of paths one can go down where you can end up cursing an application because it cannot do a simple action, like write out a filename in the right case. Think of all the complaints found in these forums where someone has cited some odd use-case no one else could ever have imagined and then stated that it is obvious that Lr should accommodate this because it is so simple to fix (e.g., to do something like provide an option whereby extensions are made all upper- or lower-case.)
You do know that even Windows and OS X are case-preserving, right?  So, the actual case used to create the file is in the file metadata, regardless of what the Finder or Explorer or shell may decide to show you. How this metadata is used by various APIs is open-ended.

  • UPPER and lower case file extensions for Photo Shop Elements using Windows 7

How do I persuade WIndows 7 to show both UPPER and lower case file extensions, which is a very useful facility offered by my ancient, 2002, version of Photoshop Elements? When processing large volumes (100 plus) photos it is very useful to be able to spot those that have been processed among those awaiting my gentle touch. The JPEG file extension produced by my camera is UPPER case so by using "Save as" with lower case the modified photos are immediately spotted. This worked fine on Windows XP and the same programme has loaded and works well on my new laptop which came loaded with Windows 7 EXCEPT that it persists in using UPPER case all the time, irrespective of the preference settings in PSE. HELP!
    Camperman1

In PSE there is a facility "File > process multiple files".
Using this facility you can actually process multiple files at one go and you can easily rename images.

how can I save a jepg file in lower case letters? I check the use lower case box in preferences but it's not happening. PSCC

Let's try a preferences reset: (Windows)
Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.
